PlayStation Store (via PS3, PSP and Media Go)
Hi everyone, welcome to the gamescom 2011 Store update. I’m at the show this week so to avoid leaving you all without a host, I place you all into the capable hands of Andy Stewart.
The star of the update this week is of course a large selection of gamescom related videos for all the hotly anticipated titles being shown – you’ll find those in their own section as usual.
For downloadable titles this week, several retail games get the digital download treatment, including Dead Space and Far Cry – but if you’re into fast-paced little numbers, you’re going to adore Cubixx HD – arcade puzzle action, where the simple goal is to cut away enough of the cube to move to the next level. This title supports split-screen local multiplayer, has loads of different game modes and looks simply fantastic – if you’re a fan of the genre you should definitely give it a go and even if you’re not I urge you to try the demo. Plus users get 20% off the asking price too, along with a free theme to download.
There’s a also a few more minis this week, including a Fighting Fantasy adventure, a selection of DLC for LBP2, InFamous 2 and more, and a selection of themes.
Speaking of themes there are a few points to bring to your attention this week – there are a couple of changes to the store front to try and make your lives easier. Firstly, the merchandising team have been hard at work recategorising the themes section to help you find the themes you’re looking for more easily – let us know if you think any obvious categories are missing.
Also, as part of our on-going store improvements, the store iconography has been updated across the board – let us know your favourites!
That’s it from me, I’ll hand you over to Andy. Bye for now.

I am so disappointed by Sony’s conference at gamescom. I was expecting to see
Syphon filter 4 announced
Demand five player and sky player announced for PS3
And most importantly PS2 classics introduced
On the subject of PS2 classics I don’t think we will ever get them as Sony is making loads of money from HD remakes and they can sell them for about £35 each, whilst PS2 classics on PSN would be around £8 to £10 each.
The moral and honest thing for Sony to do would be to introduce PS2 classics, however the smart and conniving thing to do would be to do more HD remakes, after all Sony is a business after all and they are going to make money no matter what their consumers want.
I feel like going to the nearest window and throwing my PS3 out and smashing it to smithereens and buying an Xbox.

Alas, the PSP is truly dead when it comes to new content.
I guess its going to be next week for the PSP Sale

These developers have got to start pricing their download titles more competitvely, £48 for Dead Space 2 is a joke when you consider it’s dropped to £20-25 at most retailers for a boxed version

Where is my free PS Plus Echochrome II?
Haha, that would be awesome

any chance of any SNK games that were released on Xbox Live coming soon on PSN please? Garou, NeoGeo and KOF 02 Unlimited Match?
Also, any chance of a Sega price reduction for example the Valkyria Chronicle dlc?
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 2:00 pm by Andy Stewart
Sadly I can’t comment on SNK games but I will let Ross know about your comment.
As for Valkyria Chronicle dlc, I will see what I can do but sadly no promises

£47.99 for Dead Space 2.
Are you serious? bahahahahahahahahahahaa nice try EA.

Andy, you mention inFamous 2 DLC and there is no such thing on the list.

Just to say a few things:
1) Are you having a laugh with Dead Space pricing?
2) Tombi eta?
3) Which publisher is next up for sales? Dissapointed with Disney, not very good at all.

Nice price for Dead Space one £16 I can get behind, but £48 for DS2 is rediculous… Way to invest more into digital downloads EA!

What’s the inFamous DLC? The US heads up states “various packs” but there isn’t even a list item here. Hope it’s not just avatars and previous preorder-exclusive game items.
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 2:13 pm by Andy Stewart
The reason there is no list item here is that there was a delay with it. However this has now been rectified and will be on the store when it goes live, the DLC will include the following:
Infamous 2
• Character Skin Pack (£1.59/€1.99)
(contains the following content also available separately)
• Kessler Skin (£0.79/€0.99)
• Reaper Skin (£0.79/€0.99)
• Infamous 1 Cole Skin (£0.79/€0.99)
• Weapons Pack (£2.39/€2.99)
(contains the following content also available separately)
• Samurai Sword (£0.79/€0.99)
• Caveman Club (£0.79/€0.99)
• Sly Cane (£0.79/€0.99)
• Gold Amp (£0.79/€0.99)
• Powers Pack (£2.39/€2.99)
(contains the following content also available separately)
• Stalker Grenade (£0.79/€0.99)
• Sniper Blast (£0.79/€0.99)
• Electrocution Grenade (£0.79/€0.99)
• Lightning Hook (£0.79/€0.99)
Rating: PEGI 18
Availability: All locales

Hm nothing for me today. Already got Comix Zone free and that’s the only downloadable there I would be at all interested in. I have pre-ordered SFIII on that Play offer thing since I probably would have bought it anyways. Quite like the theme but I wish I knew if there was a way to keep a certain background image on themes where they have multiple random ones. Only one of the background pics is any good.

Why no Cubixx HD for Australia? Really poor update this week, even more so since the only game I’d check out isn’t available in my region for no reason.

Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 1:07 pm by Roxas598
Hello Andy
I thought the reason for the high prices was due to the store not being able to under cut retailers? if that’s true how do you explain 47.99 for DS2? which is 15-20 (normal price not sale)?
Also any kind of hint at when we can expect to be going on a great Journey? (hint hint)
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 2:19 pm by Andy Stewart
Hello Roxa598
Your question confuses me a bit, DS2 is 47.99 on the PSN Store and 15-20 in retail, therefore why is this going against your previous statement?
As for going on the great Journey, I wish i knew because I also want this.

SCEE seem to be wearing their pants on their head. The only really noteworthy thing about this update is the gamescom trailers. Why do you hate PSP and PSOne SCEE?
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 2:24 pm by Andy Stewart
SCEE don’t hate PSP and PSOne at all, in fact we really like them and we are trying our best to get more PSOne released.
However I do understand your frustrations and we will keep trying to get you more games.

Nice update, might get one of the ps1 bundles since i got my 6 year old brother to entertain for the whole day tomorrow
Also can we have a section for full games such as dead space and far cry 2 on the store? Would be very convenient since there is lots of them now but they are all hidden between smaller psn titles, and i prefer my full games downloaded and easier to access (of course when the price is right ;D)
@2 Just get a PS2 already, i got the tv with a built in one, it’s in HD and looks and plays fantastic. HD cables are cheap enough too, and also the majority of PS2 games can be found easily and are affordable. I brought Gun for £1 over the weekend. Great value and a good game. Also i brought a 360 recently, and trust me, it’s not as good as you think it would be, and im already regretting buying it.

Hi Mrfight67
Thank you for the full games merchandising suggestion, i will pass this on to the team.

I don’t understand Dead Space 2′s pricing so many months after the release, but I know it’s the publisher that sets the price.
Nothing for me this week, just gonna wait around for cheeky4life’s eventual commenting.

Two Questions:
- The Resistance 3 Beta shouldn’t be available for everyone from today on?
- PSP Summer Sales. It’s been announced but…When is coming?
Posted on 17 August, 2011 at 2:32 pm by Andy Stewart
Where did you get your information about the Resistance 3 beta from? Ross did mention this before but then the statement was retracted. We have no offical date for a public beta.
As for the PSP POWER Sale this is coming next week (24th August) and it is going to be BIG! I have lined up some great deals for all you PSP fans, I hope you like it.

If people are stupid enough to buy it at £47.99 then they deserve to get ripped off

@Playtoy_17:
Do me a big favour and go and buy your Xbox as your complaints are bloody pointless.
1) How do you know of this new Syphon Filter? I haven’t heard a word about it.
2) We have the Five player, but we don’t have Sky Anytime. Why? Because you will have to pay for that service. It isn’t free!!!
3) As anyone should know by now, the big announcements outside of E3 happen at TGS.

Is Bof 4 coming to this side of the ocean anytime soon?
Any news about Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls ?
Any idea if publishers showed some real interest to the US and Japanese PSone emulations program you announced a while back and are going to give you a line up anytime soon?
Psp sale next week ?
Thank you for reading.

Aww, you guys…I didn’t even think you’d remember it was my birthday. All this for little old me? You didn’t have to do that. I mean, Dynasty Warriors 7 DLC and everything? Thanks. Really. I feel so loved. Cubixx looks interesting too.
That said, while I understand the logic in keeping retailers happy by not undercutting the price for a physical copy, are EA completely insane? Sure, they can’t undercut it, but there are plenty of price comparison websites out there; could they not, you know, have a quick glance around and keep their digital pricing in line with retailers?

Answer all of my points.
In all seriousness, why does Cheeky4life love Crash Bash so much?
