What did you think of gamescon 2011?
This year Gamescon was kinda boring, I expected to see fun new games on the Sony press conference but instead all we got was old news.
I was hoping that you would show GOW4 instead of Uncharted 3 at the end.

It was an OK conference, not the worst one I’ve watched but lacked the proper megaton announcement for it to stand out. No Omega Boost 2, new Gran Turismo stuff or anything like that.

GamesCon was boring this year as it is most of the time. I wish it was more like E3 with actual suprise reveals but then I suppose you’d have nothing to show off at TGS. GamesCon feels more like a quick reminder of whats about to come out and the anouncement of a price cut here and there.

Thought it was poor, no big announcements, apart from the 3D tv which is priced too high. So yeah, big disappointment and very poor.

apart from the yogscast coverage it was pretty dull. guild wars 2 was the only new content i seen that interested me.

I wish there was more live demo showings for those that can’t be at gamescom, other than that, I don’t understand how Reality Fighters was shown at the presentation while a great and intriguing game like Gravity Rush was not even mentioned. The are some good things, the Uncharted 3 demo just made me more impatient for the game.
And finally there weren’t that many new annoucements which is a shame, but I understand there can only be so much that can be ready to be shown on the show.

the comfrence got me verry hyped up! i watched it live in playstation Home and you wouldnt believe how many people were there! although there was a delay at the start and the comfrence wasnt that long it was entertaining, not much news to what we did know at E3 but i loved that uncharted 3 gameplay!

and to all those people crying about how bad it was: we all know E3 was way more better but what else were you gona do instead of watched gamescom? exacly, now stop crying.

Then price cut for PS3. Maybe you could’ve launched PSVita this year..but, hey, you can’t have everything.

disappointed with coverage via my ps3, due to a poor browser, and only a ‘day one’ highlight vid via ps store. in the same time, there has been 4 vids put onto the dashboard of my trusty 360, and 2 of them were covering 3rd party games. yeah sure, uncharted 3 is gonna be a big game, but have sony forgotten about the other big-hitters like battlefield 3, batman, mw3, bioshock, goldeneye…..

I wonder if that girl actualy plays the games she was mentioning?

Anyway this years Gamescom was ok, not great. The only thing that really got me amazed was the battlefield 3 trailer and even that was PC footage.
As for Sonys conference, it wasnt bundled with in info that we didnt already know really. still no date for Vita and didnt show PS3 has much love as i’d of hoped.
I gave E3 a 9 and Gamescom a 7 – good but not megaton like E3 was

@Omega Boost 2, that would be amazing.

@4, Wraxend – I agree about TGS and stuff but I like that gamescom is more laid back without loads of big reveals all at once like E3, it’s cool that they have stuff like Diversity on stage and it’s got more of a kinda laid back vibe than the huge E3 rush and I like that it’s more about all the new trailers and gameplay for games we’re already looking forward to. TGS shouls be awesome this year though, so many great Japanese games to look forward to.

Highlight of gamescom for me this year was the BF3 jet footage, all several seconds of it. Dark Souls is looking brilliant too though.

@CassyChan True it is more laid back which is nice so why do the companys bother having a confrence really. I mean they drum up this kind of anticipation to the event like they do with E3 and TGS and so people do get excited for it only to find it doesn’t meet what they had in mind. I suppose its our own faults to some extent and we shouldn’t get caught up in it all. But when it takes place during what I’d call the drought season of gaming it is all to easy to get excited.

After watching your Gamescom press conference I’m almost convinced to get a Vita (if you know who will be 3G provider in Denmark). You only showed a few new PS3 games where as I’ll only get the infamous game.
I’m very disappointed that you didn’t launch the video store service in Denmark and other countries we have waited many years and when Andrew House said “you can access … catch-up TV channels … and connect to our video delivery services” it felt like either he is mocking us or he no idea what’s going on in the other SCEE countries. I do NOT have access to catch-up TV or video delivery services (besides mubi).
I can’t understand why you can’t even get the rights to sell a single movie via the PS3, not even from your own Sony Pictures.

Gamescom 2011 was decent. I was hoping for some more new games. I was hoping for a Skyrim trailer/gameplay. Uncharted 3 gameplay was awesome though (as always). Excited for the inFamous standalone DLC. Euhm yeah, don’t know really. It was OK I guess.

I like the video with Katy, will we see more Katy in the future of the blog?

As far as I can make out, 3D is currently enjoying its 3rd flop. 1950′s, 80′s and now. I don’t think the vast majority of consumers are interested, seems to be industry driven.

Hmm, why is it that the sharing buttons have switched icons for Facebook and Twitter? When I hold over the Facebook icon it says “Share on Twitter” and the opposite on the Twitter icon. Could be it’s IE issues, but I was just wondering

I was expecting more from SONY regarding the features of PS3. An awesome firmware update would have been nice containing

1) New web browser, flash support
2) Cross game chat
3) Backwards compatibility PS2/PS1 emulation
4) Faster loading times for XMB/Trophies
4) Ability to compare trophies will mutliple friends
5) Dynamic Avatars
6) Ability to take screenshots/Video

Anybody else have any more to add to the list?

Only Uncharted Multiplayer (i know from Beta) why no Singleplayer?
Many technical issues at Sony booth on Wednesday.
Absoluty no Headset worked on the Sony Booth.

Best thing was the Smalltalk with the Japanese Guy about the Sony Visor Prototype. Its was playable at GC and is absolutly AWESOME! I WANT!! NOW!

The 24″ 3D TV Set Works, but Picture way to Dark. Price is also compared to US not acceptable, also we lose the Game they get. 150 Euro more and no Game. NO THANKS SONY
