‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 31st August 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 31st August 2011

Hi everyone, it’s Store update day and the second title in the PlayStation Network PLAY series is released today – The Baconing – the third instalment in the saga of Deathspank, defender of the downtrodden and thong enthusiast.

You are DeathSpank, a hero and the ultimate Dispenser of Justice. You must defeat the Anti-Spank and his army of Cyborques, before they cast an evil shadow over Spanktopia. Discover exciting new worlds and battle hordes of enemies as you search to unlock the secret within the Fires of Bacon.

Your free gift with this title is an extra character, Roesha, who will be available to download from next week’s publish – you can grab it from the PLAY Offer section on the Store, where you’ll also be able to pick up your pre-orders.

Also new this week, we have Elevator Action Deluxe from Square Enix, a retro-reboot of the classic spy, document collecting arcade game from days of yore. Well, 1983 was not quite the days of yore but it was a long time ago in videogames! The original arcade game is included in this release so you can see what all the fuss was about.

We also have the PSN version of 4 Elements HD, a digital BD version of TV Superstars and as usual, plenty of DLC to expand your titles, including a new Toy Story 3 LittleBigPlanet 2 bundle.

The Resistance 3 Multiplayer Beta also stops being a Plus exclusive today, so you can all try out the multiplayer ahead of the game’s release on the 9th September.

I’ll be around most of the afternoon today, mercifully I am meeting free until 5pm, so I’ll be around for your comments.

I’ll see you from 2pm – bye for now.

Ross

Sorry to keep bugging you Ross, as this has been mentioned several times already, but the Crash Bandicoot 2 title hasn’t been changed yet? Can you get it changed please?

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:16 pm

I’d requested this previously but I’ve asked for this to be updated again today so I will hopefully be able to sort this for you.

Still Playstation Plus mid-month treats?

The month is almost over!

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:18 pm

We’ve added a few extras throughout the month of September already, you had a very full couple of weeks at the start of the month – but there is one more treat coming on Friday/Saturday for this month before we kick off September.

This update sucks! No demo of God of War Collection Volume II!!!

cheeky4life 31 August, 2011 @ 1:02 pm   4

what have you done to the PSone classics Ross? we havnt had one for about 2 months, its becoming a joke now.

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:20 pm

Got a few coming down in September – PSone releases have never been very regular I’m afraid, they all sort of take as long as they take, but we’re approaching quite a few Monkey Paw releases as well in the near future.

Silent_Gig 31 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   5

Any news on Mr.Diller yet?

DownSelectStart 31 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   6

wheres the Mortal Kombat kollection???? I was really looking foward to that…now il purchase on the Xbox now instead

homerjnick 31 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   7

Poorest update in a long long time…

STUPID_DAD 31 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   8

I was hoping for a dead island demo

somethingatt 31 August, 2011 @ 1:03 pm   9

Auto-Update is acting dodgy (you have to set clock via manual each time for it to activate or some random glitch), hope you guys are looking into that.

Not much for me this time, hopefully new PS+ treats come soon.

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:23 pm

Yes, I believe there’s a group of tech guys looking at the issues around the autoupdate since the firmware update. Thanks for the feedback though.

Where is the PSP Games……. Waiting forever it seems like PSP is DEAD on PSN.

And no PsOne classics either.

cheeky4life 31 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   11

and also the Psone request blog, when can we expect that?

cthulhu85 31 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   12

Hmm, I thought “Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection” was coming today? O_O Do you know if it’s coming next week?

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:41 pm

It’s not on my schedule yet I’m afraid, although I have it in the pre-publish system so it can’t be far out.

almighty-slayer 31 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   13

No God of War Collect 2 demo? Sadface :(

Just The Baconing for me, then :)

markl1972 31 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   14

Hi Ross, How are you today?

Please answer ALL My points.

night64448 31 August, 2011 @ 1:04 pm   15

So, we get the DeathSpank DLC only next week ?
But… There’s no point in this DLC anymore ! In a week’s time, I’ll already have finished the game with another sidekick !

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:44 pm

Sorry, it’ll definitely be ready for you next week to pick up. And if you do finish it by next week, perhaps you can come back another time and play through with Roesha instead.

Jesse-Blue 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   16

Nice update.
Let’s have some bacon. :)
Elevator action a bit overpriced for not having online multiplayer…

Have you read the story from Eurogamer about Microsoft forcing all publishers to NOT release their games first on PSN otherwise M$ can decline release on Xbox?
That’s why they often get stuff a few weeks early (because they pay publishers extra) and Sony never?
(example Summer of Arcade vs. PSN Play)
And that M$ does not allow publishers to have more content on other systems than on Xbox?
(like having extra stages or whatever on PS3 to use the of Blu-ray capacity.)

IS THIS WHY NOT A SINGLE THIRD PARTY GAME IS BETTER ON PS3 OR HAS MORE CONTENT?
(except fore the ones releasing substantially later on PS3.)

If so, Sony should sue Microsoft for this practice as it sounds like very unfair business and puts them obviously in a big disadvantage.
M$ has already been sucessfully sued over similar unfair behaviour for their Windows software.
Lovely company.

Anyone who wants to read for themselves… make sure to read all.

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:40 pm

That’s an interesting read indeed, I did wonder if this would ever become public knowledge.

Andrefpvs 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   17

I thought we were getting something extra on Plus, but maybe next month will be much better :)

Nightmare966 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   18

Nothing for me this week it seems, although I may download a few Trailers.

Also Ross, two questions/issues:

1 – THe Soulcalibur V GamesCom trailer we have on the store is, in fact, the Comic Con trailer.

2 – Any news on firther White Knight Chjronicles 2 DLC? Some hope came last week with those accessory tickets, but we players are really hoping of a the bigger ones!

Thanks before hand :)

Bauer007 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   19

Hey Ross :) do you have any idea on whether Ubisoft plans to release Assassins Creed Revelations digitally on PSN at launch? Thanks

VIKTORIZED 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   20

Persona 3 Portable was supposed to come out five months ago, and ever since you’ve been saying soon. A couple of weeks ago even “very soon”. This is ridiculous, don’t bother commenting – just bring the game already.

PERSONA 3 PORTABLE. OK?

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:43 pm

True fact, if you get angry, the game comes faster.
Disclaimer: That might not be true.

Persona 3 Portable is “meant” to come out when the publisher for the title is ready to release it, so I’m afraid you will just have to be patient. However, it is now a very, very short wait.

Chaosprower 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   21

It’s official; no new PSP games for August, the same as July…

KennyKawai 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   22

No Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection? *sad face*

c9dartfinish 31 August, 2011 @ 1:05 pm   23

Do you know when were likely to see any more ps1 classics, it has been a while.

Any news for us White Knight Chronicles 2 fans? I hear japan has had a balance patch, any hope for us getting that soon?

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:48 pm

I can’t comment on the patches but Ross Alexander has confirmed with me that there’s a lot more WKC2 content coming to our Store.

green_shorts 31 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   25

Usual [DELETED] like last week no mortal combat kollection even tho the yanks got it yesterday when are we expecting it in a months time? Same old same old

Andrefpvs 31 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   26

By the way, can we have Persona 1 in the PSP sales? It’s been at full price for so long now…

Omg, what a great PSOne classics…. oh, wait. :[

Querdenker 31 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   28

Thanks for yet another Heads Up.

(Just repeating what I wrote last week and hoping for some kind of answer/feedback this time around.)

I have two suggestions:

#1: Put Full Game Trials of more/all PS2 HD Collection games into the PS Store. I guess there can’t be demos of these games, so Full Game Trials must be the way to go. The God of War Collection had trials, and that was great (I bought the games afterwards). My issue is that I was looking into buying the (then discounted) Prince of Persia Collection bundle, but several people said/wrote that many sound effects in these games are way off. So I would have liked to be able to test these games first.

#2: Make the Full Game Trials permanently available for one-time-use, just like in the US Store.

Thanks for reading

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:50 pm

Thanks for the feedback – we’re looking at making alterations to Plus at the moment and one of the initiatives, along with organising the Plus section to make it easier for you to find content, is to offer the full-game trials permanently as they do in the US – we hope to bring this to you all soon.

As for your frist point, it’s up to the publisher to decide if they want to do trials for their HD collections so we can encourage this but not enforce it.

vicheous 31 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   29

Where is the TDU 2 DLC?

Chaosprower 31 August, 2011 @ 1:06 pm   30

@19 P3P is coming on September 7th.

Cool, but PlayStation Plus automatic downloads still DO NOT work in FW 3.70!!!! We’re paying for it :/

HiddenAway 31 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   32

@ awwe

Well, Persona 3 Portable is out next week ;)

@ Ross

Snowy: The Bear’s Adventures (£7.99/€8.99) Rating: PEGI 3

Bit expensive for a mini isn’t it?

dazzy_t123 31 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   33

Ross, please answer, when will plus members actually be recieving content? II cant really understand what we are actually paying for? thanks in advance, i hope an pray for a reply

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 1:55 pm

You have had a great deal of content and day-one discounts in August including a massive exclusivity window on the Resistance 3 Beta in August, it just happened to be a predominatly front-loaded month.

Things are spread out a little more in September.

MorganTPN 31 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   34

Where’s the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection? That was supposed to be released today wasn’t it?

What about the PSP Game: The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky?

Lance_87 31 August, 2011 @ 1:07 pm   36

what happened to Revoltin’ Youth? the devs said it would have returned in a week.

    Ross McGrath 31 August, 2011 @ 2:04 pm

I know the developers are submitting a new build at the moment, so once it’s ready we’ll put it up immediately as a running replacement – the game will be back once the new build has gone through test, and it’s in test at the moment.

When will Media Go be available for Mac. I will not buy another PSP title until Media Go for Mac is available. We are customers as well.

moriarty1975 31 August, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   38

Still no Oil Stain DLC for ModNation Racers? Any reason for the delay?

XtianHawkGamer 31 August, 2011 @ 1:08 pm   39

Hmmm nothing for me this week…

Hi, any idea where those PROMISED Playstation Plus mid-month treats are at? Not exactly mid-month anymore, is it?

hi Ross ,

where is Eufloria and Machinarium …

Dawid

elita411 31 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   42

I am guessing maybe next week the pink knight will be available. Hei, my wife is bugging me about that, so i am nagging you. Second, why arent the dip switches free for psplus members and who preordered it. They did that on the us store. And third, what about the god of war origins demo for the plus members?

GaiaScythe 31 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   43

Another sad week for PSP-users … :(

c9dartfinish 31 August, 2011 @ 1:09 pm   44

Is that a mistake, £8 for a mini?

1. Another week without a Plus treat, where is the early GoW demo?

2. No demos for 4 Elements HD or Elevator Action Deluxe = no sale.

3. I still wait for the 2 free Plus Avatars in the german store. Seriously, is it such a burden to release 2 little pictures within a month? I paid for that crap, so give me what you owe me.

Carnivius_Prime 31 August, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   46

Aw, I was overjoyed in seeing Shock Troopers, my most fave Neo Geo game ever, was on the US Store last night but disappointed that it’s not here on the Eu store. Was really hoping to buy that. Nothing else up today I want though I’ll take free themes as usual.

Kazblade 31 August, 2011 @ 1:11 pm   47

A few questions :
Is BOF4 (Psone) coming here?
Is Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls (psn) still scheduled sometimes this year?
Is Cladunx2 (psp) coming in europe?
Any news about the psone import?

thank you for reading.

Querdenker 31 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   48

@somethingatt

Auto-Update is acting dodgy (you have to set clock via manual each time for it to activate or some random glitch), hope you guys are looking into that.

Setting the clock via Internet each day works for me as well.

There’s a long forum thread on this topic: http://bit.ly/qY8uLl

Cpt_Yanni 31 August, 2011 @ 1:12 pm   49

When will the bèta of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations be available for download?

Huono_peleis 31 August, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   50

@Andrefpvs

Next month is always AWESOME…

I think Sony is letting the Plus just fade away since it was no success. PSP is getting the same handling as well.
