Borderlands 2 Interview

Gamescom 2011 is a hazy memory now that I’m back at my London desk, watching raindrops fall down the window and imagining they’re racing each other, but that doesn’t mean our coverage is over. I still have a few interviews to bring you, starting with Anthony Burch, writer on the recently announced Borderlands 2.

What did you think of the original Borderlands and will you be picking up the sequel?

Electrifying InFamous 2 Trucks

2 trucks featuring the inFAMOUS 2 hero Cole McGrath will cruise the roads of mainly Czech republic and Slovakia, but also mainland Europe for the coming weeks!

Good karma, or bad karma? Just like in the game, you can decide whether you like the “bad Cole” truck, featuring red visuals and a scary looking Cole, or if you prefer the “good Cole” version with blue visuals and a much friendlier hero. Nevertheless, any version of the truck you will pass on a busy highway, make sure you keep your eyes on the road!

In cooperation with www.adtrucks.eu – outdoor advertising for premium brands, the trucks will be cruising Czech republic and Slovakia, but will also peek into Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France for a short visit. Keep your eyes open for the PlayStation 3 star franchise inFamous 2 trucks!

PlayStation.Blog Recap

Countries: , , , ,

That’s a wrap for gamescom 2011 – thanks Cologne! I’ve really enjoyed this year’s show and have met up with some great industry friends and seen some really impressive games. I reckon the biggest queue on the show floor was for the PS Vita hands-on area, although the Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 booth pushed it pretty close. A personal highlight was getting to see Aliens: Colonial Marines for the first time and it is looking more impressive than I could have hoped. The way they have captured the atmosphere of the movies is spot-on and the animation of the Aliens makes my skin crawl, in a good way. I hope you enjoyed the content because there’s definitely more to come next week. In the meantime, thanks to all of you who joined us to watch the live stream – I’m still pulling the numbers together but they’re already pleasing – and have great weekends, whatever you’re playing.

Here’s your gamescom recap:

Resistance 3 Trophy List: Bwing!

Countries: , , , ,

Resistance 3: Tommy

Bwing. Has there ever been a more beautiful sound than “bwing”? Until I release my rap album – I think not. There you are, furiously letting your fingers dance over the controller. Your health is low, but your hope is high. One last shot in the monsters eye and – BWING – you just earned a new Trophy. I don’t know about you, but I’m not used to hearing praise so I get as giddy as Gordon Freeman in a specialty crowbar store when I hear that glorious sound. It’s then I know that another Trophy has joined my wall of virtual pride.

Good news! On September 6th when Resistance 3 launches, my fellow Trophy hoarders and I will have the opportunity to hear the majestic “Bwing” 59 times! That means we’re guaranteed at least 59 more moments of pure joy. You can even get a Platinum Trophy. That’s a moment of super joy – I’m talking “Firefly gets a new season” joy. But getting there isn’t going to be a cake walk (which I don’t even know what that it is, but it sounds awesome). You’ve got 58 other “Bwings” to acquire before you can join the R3 Platinum Posse. Let’s see what some of my personal favorites are, shall we?

The Weekend Debate: How Was It For You?

Countries: , , , ,

As this post goes live I’ll be flying back to London from Cologne after a busy week at gamescom. Next week our Weekend Debates will be back to normal with prizes and some juicy topic to sink you gums into. In the meantime, use this space to discuss this:

What did you think of gamescom 2011?

To give you an idea of what was shown, my friend Katy shot this video rounding up the biggest PS3 games of the show.

I’m off to watch England play cricket on Monday (perhaps) but I’ll see you on Tuesday.
