UNCHARTED 3 At Gamescom: What Is Drake’s Deception?

Countries: , , , ,

If you were one of the hundreds of thousand of fans that tuned into our E3 2011 PlayStation press conference, you may have caught Naughty Dog‘s Community Strategist Arne Meyer give viewers a full demo of UNCHARTED 3‘s cruise ship sequence, a tense scenario that married technical prowess and high action as Drake struggled to escape the doomed vessel.

Today, Naughty Dog has returned with another epic reveal. Spread the word: the PlayStation.Blog is the only place you’ll find HD video of the airstrip sequence from the gamescom PlayStation press event. For an added bonus, Arne and I discuss the challenges behind keeping UNCHARTED 3 as spoiler-free as possible, and how specific sequences are deliberately designed to reveal new game mechanics, story and characters at specific milestones in the game’s development process.

Watch it above, and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Resistance 3 Dev Diary: Tools For Resistance

EnglishSelect a Language:

Countries: , , , ,

Gamescom has been amazing. However, something is still missing – an unyielding void in the soul of Resistance that needs to be filled. Something cold. Something unyielding. Something… Sledgehammery? Yes, that’s it! We need to show you the Sledgehammer, Resistance 3′s brutally blunt new melee weapon. Here – let me summon the video gods and see if they can whip something up for the latest R3 Dev Diary.

By George (or Rey), they’ve done it! Our all-new Resistance 3 Dev Diary features the first gameplay footage of Capeill’s intimate side – intimate as in he’s close enough to Grims to smash in their deformed faces with a giant Sledgehammer. It’s pretty wicked (except if you’re a Grim).

Plus, you will get a detailed look at the human guns at your disposal in the game. Just because they aren’t modified with some fancy alien technology doesn’t mean they won’t plow through the Chimera faster than Rainbow Dash can clear the skies of Ponyville. Go in-depth with the explosive nuances of the Magnum, the Carbine, and the Marksman, and a peek at their powerful upgrades for good measure. Because what’s better than shooting things? Shooting things – better!

Whether you’re stretching your trigger finger with the exotic weapons or getting your melee mash-fest on with the Sledgehammer, Resistance 3 offers you a feast of fiasco-enducing human weaponry. The good news is, you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on them either. The game comes out on September 9th, so be sure to pre-order now and garner exclusive bonus content. Also, for all the latest Resistance 3 information be sure to follow Insomniac‘s Twitter and Facebook.

So, my fellow Resistites – what weapon do you think you’ll be utilizing the most on your journey to New York? Sound off in the comments!

Greetings from Cologne, Germany. Moments after we wrapped up our PlayStation gamescom press event, Dylon Jobe and I jumped in front of the camera and did what he does best, talk Starhawk. Lightbox Interactive and Santa Monica Studios finally revealed the much anticipated space level and fan favorite from Warhawk; the jetpack (with some new bells and whistles.)

WipEout 2048 Bringing The Birth Of Anti-Grav Racing To PS VITA

Countries: , , , ,

The WipEout series is synonymous with PlayStation hardware launches and so there’s a warm feeling of familiarity to knowing that WipEout 2048 is coming to PlayStation Vita during the launch window.

The game focuses on the birth of Anti-grav racing and the Liverpool Studio team is keen to focus on how the architecture of the futuristic city shapes both look and gameplay. I caught up with Graeme Ankers and Stuart Tilley out in the sunshine between presentations.

It’s fantastic to see a new WipEout game on its way, particularly one that is looking to take the series in a new direction. We already know that it will support cross platform play allowing Vita and PS3 players to go head-to-head online and I’ve just learned that the soundtrack – a vital ingredient in the WipEout DNA – features new remixes of Underworld and Leftfield tracks from the original game, as well as a new track from Deadmau5.

Can’t wait!
