Uncharted Golden Abyss Gamescom Trailer

Countries: , , , ,

Hi everyone, this is John Garvin, from Sony’s Bend Studio, the writer and director of Uncharted: Golden Abyss.  We’ve just released a trailer that introduces a new and important character from our story. You met Jason Dante  in our E3 demo and learned a little bit about him: that he and Drake have known each other a long time, that they each know Sully, that Drake taught Dante a lot about treasure hunting, that Dante can be a little, well, greedy.

This time we’re introducing Marisa Chase — but as she tells Drake at one point, call her “Chase,” only her grandfather calls her “Marisa.” I don’t want to give too much away at this point, but I can say this: once again Nathan Drake finds himself on a quest to solve a historical mystery which he hopes will lead to a fantastic treasure. The trick is staying alive long enough to get there. No easy task. And when Drake gets between Dante and Chase, events spiral out of control quickly.

We were lucky to get some really great talent to play our key characters. Nolan North, of course, reprises his role of Nathan Drake. Nolan brings more than just acting to the story, he helps make the dialogue his own, creates funny ad libs on the spot, and helps rework scenes that might be having problems. Chase is played by the talented Christine Laken, who you might remember as Al from the television show “Step by Step.” Dante is played by the amazing Jason Spisak, who’s played almost as many characters as Mr. North. Working with these guys and watching them bring our Uncharted world to life was amazing. I think Amy Hennig, the writer over at Naughty Dog, once told me that good actors can make even my bad dialogue sound good.

Not that I have any… :)

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the trailer. There’s more information on Uncharted: Golden Abyss coming soon.

PlayStation Store (via PS3, PSP and Media Go)

Hi everyone, welcome to the gamescom 2011 Store update. I’m at the show this week so to avoid leaving you all without a host, I place you all into the capable hands of Andy Stewart.

The star of the update this week is of course a large selection of gamescom related videos for all the hotly anticipated titles being shown – you’ll find those in their own section as usual.

For downloadable titles this week, several retail games get the digital download treatment, including Dead Space and Far Cry – but if you’re into fast-paced little numbers, you’re going to adore Cubixx HD – arcade puzzle action, where the simple goal is to cut away enough of the cube to move to the next level. This title supports split-screen local multiplayer, has loads of different game modes and looks simply fantastic – if you’re a fan of the genre you should definitely give it a go and even if you’re not I urge you to try the demo. Plus users get 20% off the asking price too, along with a free theme to download.

There’s a also a few more minis this week, including a Fighting Fantasy adventure, a selection of DLC for LBP2, InFamous 2 and more, and a selection of themes.

Speaking of themes there are a few points to bring to your attention this week – there are a couple of changes to the store front to try and make your lives easier. Firstly, the merchandising team have been hard at work recategorising the themes section to help you find the themes you’re looking for more easily – let us know if you think any obvious categories are missing.

Also, as part of our on-going store improvements, the store iconography has been updated across the board – let us know your favourites!

That’s it from me, I’ll hand you over to Andy. Bye for now.

Hello there PlayStation Blog readers! Sucker Punch has some exciting news for you all. Hopefully, all of you inFAMOUS fans have had a chance to play plenty of the UGC missions since our June launch. Players have spent a total of 451,251 hours or 51 years playing those UGC missions. While those missions have kept you entertained, its now time for a major DLC announcement.

inFAMOUS 2 Festival of Blood will be a brand new standalone single player DLC for download via PSN. Vampires swarm New Marais, and revered superhero Cole MacGrath has been bitten. To save his soul and city, he has just one night to find and kill the head vampire. Featuring new missions, themed environment settings and new characters/enemies, Festival of Blood explores the darker side of the inFAMOUS universe. Previous inFAMOUS games are not needed to play this DLC.

The DLC will swarm PSN in October, in time for Halloween. In the meantime, here is a new piece of key art for your desktop background, and a new video teaser trailer during Pyre Night in New Marais.
