‘Heads-Up’ Game Store And PlayStation Plus Update: 7th September 2011

Store_070911

Hi everyone – a long intro from me today, lots of housekeeping and new things to tell you about, but let’s kick off with the third title in the PLAY promotion – Bloodrayne: Betrayal launches today.

The original video game femme fatale, Rayne, has returned to battle and feed in a brand new hack ‘n slash adventure. Slay ghastly enemies as Rayne, the sexy dhampir with superhuman strength, speed, and agility, recruited by the vampire hunting Brimstone Society for one last mission. The target is a lavish, yet sinister ball in a secluded castle with plenty of dark and gruesome surprises. With the help of a mysterious friend, and members of Brimstone, Rayne must infiltrate the manor, take out the fiendish horde, and stop an evil master plot once and for all.

Bloodrayne: Betrayal is available this week in all locales except for New Zealand (Majesco are finalising the OFLC rating for this title in NZ and we will be able to bring it to you next week).

Also, Italian consumers can this week begin to take part in the PLAY promotion – Street Fighter III: Third Strike, The Baconing and Bloodrayne: Betrayal are all launching on the Italian Store and you can now purchase any of these titles and if you purchase all four, become eligible to receive your reward copy of PAYDAY: The Heist.

SNK bring us a whole host of new minis this week as well – with more on the way. These classic titles from the arcade era are now available for you to enjoy either on PS3 or PSP - Guerilla Wars is free for Plus and all the other titles (and those still on the way) will be available at 20% off for our subscribers too.

Also this week we have plenty of other choice morsels for you, including the slightly delayed God of War Collection: Volume II demo – Kratos’ PSP adventures have been upscaled and brought to life on PS3 for the first time. The eu.playstation.com team has put together a demo guide for you to check out, so make sure to head on over there to get the inside track.

You’ve probably already seen Andy’s post about the second round of PSP titles for the big PSP Power Sale, including the launch offer for Persona 3: Portable. Disney were kind enough to include Lego Pirates of the Caribbean in the sale too, to commemorate the launch of Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides on the Video Store on 12th September.

Another quick note regarding Automatic Update – the SCEI team are aware of the issues that you guys have been having since the firmware update and there will be an interim update to fix the issue coming later in September – please keep a look out for this and when I can update you with an exact date we’ll let you know.

That’s all from me for now – check out the content lists for Plus and the Store Update below and both Andy and myself will be around for comments both today and tomorrow – unfortunately my workload has yet to let up and keeping you guys informed is going to take the both of us!

See you all later on, have a great week.

IMO, it’s the best Plus update ever – I love Plants vs Zombies and RE series. Thanks :D Are we gonna get 50% discount on RE4 like Americans do?! And please fix the plus auto update issue on FW 3.70!!!

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:11 pm

Hiya, yeah, it’ll be 50% off as in the US. The auto-update issue are going to be fixed imminently too.

Great update!! :)

Resident Evil *Drool*

TheBigBoss0001 7 September, 2011 @ 2:01 pm   4

Nice Tomb Raider 2!

I have 2 questions:
1. Any news on RE2 and RE3?
2. Any chance that Loaded and Heart of Darkness PS1-classics will come to the store?

Thank you

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:16 pm

RE2 and RE3 are currently being processed, but as part of the US Import program – the PAL discs just refuse to work. They will be heading to the Store as soon as we can bring them to you.

As for Loaded and Heart of Darkness, we’re investigating those at the moment.

patriot36954 7 September, 2011 @ 2:01 pm   5

when will the problem with adding coins on madden 12 be fixed? thanks

1. Are we going to get REAL Resident Evil avatars of the main characters like the US got a month or to ago?

2. Will Europe be getting the 50% Resident Evil 4 and CV HD like the US gets?

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:18 pm

We will eventually get those avatars, yes, but there’s a long approval process on Capcom avatars on the Capcom side.

Yes, we’re getting 50% off both RE4 and RECV.

Playtoy_17 7 September, 2011 @ 2:01 pm   7

Hi James or Ross (Please answer)

Are we ever going to get DEMAND FIVE player on the PS3 any time soon, there were rumours of it coming late last year, can you let us know if anything is happening regarding this, if not at least we can rule it out.

Also are PS2 classics ever coming as I am sick of waiting, are they in development or not? Again, please let us know, as we can rule them out, if not.

CRASHBASHUK 7 September, 2011 @ 2:01 pm   8

downloading ratchet and clank all for one now cant wait to play it larer

Hey Ross/Andy

Couple of questions if you don’t mind :)

The beyond good and evil free avatars for buying the game are we getting these or not? I remember there was a post on here about getting them but still nothing.

And anything about journey? even what month it’s expected?

Cool update! When is Resi 4 and Code V due to be out?

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:25 pm

Resi 4 will be out within the next couple of weeks, with CV following the next week.

Chocobo115 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   11

Ross, can you make sure to talk in advance with NISA about making sure EU Disgaea 4 DLC to be up-to-schedule with the DLC US has recieved at the time.
On same week or week after EU release preferbly.
I’d be forever grateful if you could make this happen!

Also if you can talk them into giving us the Fallen Angel Flonne DLC you’ll totally be a Hero of the Galaxy!

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:49 pm

Hmmm, I can have that conversation, absolutely and I’ll pass your request onto the NISA account manager here so they can start that off now.

kingkrunch456 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   12

Fantastic update, keep up the good work!

Silent_Gig 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   13

No Altered Beast?

Shou_Kobayashi 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   14

Wait … no BLOOD RAVEN costume pack for Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine like the US :(?

By the way it would be nice if you could ask THQ for some Space Marine Avatars :D.

… and please bring back the filesize… thanks ;)

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 3:11 pm

No, nothing new from THQ this week, but I will definitely ask about the avatars!

Filesizes, we are working on bringing that back when things calm down a bit – it adds a pretty time intensive step to the process whoch we can’t automate, but you’re right, it’s worth doing. In the meantime feel free to ask for file sizes, we’re happy to oblige.

Hell-Raiser-85 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   15

Ross any news on Portal 2 DLC? Do you have a date for Infamous 2 & Dead nation DLC? thanks

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 3:13 pm

Actually I know quite a bit about all of them but I’m not able to share yet, I’m sorry.

blueyoshi5 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   16

hay Ross… the resi avatars and theme are awesome. Any chance off us getting the 50% of resi 4 and c.v as part of ps+ aswell.

still no Revoltin’ Youth huh?

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:24 pm

They resubmitted their build, it should be back up pretty soon if it’s not already.

Unicronic 7 September, 2011 @ 2:03 pm   18

Nice update. Is there any sign of Free Realms for EU users? It’s been out on US Store for some time now and it’s published by Sony (SOE).

glad i didnt renew plus id be happy paying tenner a month just for auto download and cloud save 30 quid a year to steep just for using those 2 features.

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 2:23 pm

So you’d be happy to pay £10 per month for auto update & cloud save – which is £120? But £30 is too much to pay for those features AND the content. I see.

Tomb Raider II, awesome! :)

Great update this week

Any news on Syphon Filter 2 coming to PSone classics?

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 3:05 pm

That’s one we’re going to have to do via import, but it’s in the works, yes.

alistair_thomas 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   21

Tomb Raider II – nice work!

PHILYPOT08 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   22

cheers ross great update already downloaded resident evil avatars & a few games from PS PLUS :) cant wait to see what avatars are coming later in september for plus

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 4:17 pm

There are some unique, non-game related avatars on the way later in the month – glad you’re enjoying your subscription!

dreaminstereo 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   23

Will we be receiving the other Resident Evil PS1 classics, and the 50% off of Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica like the US are? Apart from that, it’s a great update but it’s a shame that we usually end up missing out on a lot of content they get =/

    Ross McGrath 7 September, 2011 @ 5:14 pm

Unfotunately when we came to organising the most recent Plus deals, the distinct lack of Resi 2 and 3 on the Store was a bit of a stumbling block.

Hopefully we have some nice extras for you later on in the month that might make up for missing out on 2 and 3.

Playtoy_17 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   24

was does it mean by “Tomb raider 11 starring lara croft”, is it a different game to tomb raider 11? and is it an import?

hey when will we get spyro every week i ask come on ross lol =] thanks

toxic-inferno 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   26

TOMB RAIDER II AT LAST :D

Thank you so much! Used to have this on PC, but I was awful at it! Been looking forward to giving it another go for MONTHS!!

almighty-slayer 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   27

Ratchet and Clank beta? SOLD

CardcaptorStacey 7 September, 2011 @ 2:04 pm   28

Nice to see Tomb Raider 2 finally on the store! Shame there’s no Okami or Final Fantasy XIII avatars yet :( Are they actually coming to the store?

Is Resident Evil a PS One game? Or a PS3 game?

Thanks for Plants vs. Zombies!
Very nice game.

NightRanma 7 September, 2011 @ 2:05 pm   30

I’m glad SOMEBODY wants to sell me Bloodrayne Betrayal today. If Xbox wants to leave Australia out, I’ll gladly give my money to PSN. :P

Wait, no demo? Dammit Sony….

Burnout-Addict 7 September, 2011 @ 2:05 pm   31

Nice update!

Any news on AuditoriumHD yet?
And what about the TDU2 Exploration Pack?

Nice update…. (waits for Skookie30 to bash it for some reason unknown to the educated man)

dreaminstereo 7 September, 2011 @ 2:05 pm   33

Oooh, just read the bit at the bottom of the Plus part (don’t know how I missed that), sounds good. Here’s hoping it will be 50% off like the US!

Carnivius_Prime 7 September, 2011 @ 2:05 pm   34

Very much appreciate the R&C Beta and SFAlpha 2 for free. Also Guerilla War is great retro fun. Thanks for putting those SNK Arcade minis up. Do you know when Shock Troopers Neo Geo Station will make it to our store or should I just go get it from the US one? It’s my fave Neo Geo game and 2 player shooter.

I’m gonna grab the rest of the SNK arcade Minis :)

Good store update =]

Any news on Pink Knight DLC for Castle Crashers??? It’s been ages =[

obiadekanobi1980 7 September, 2011 @ 2:05 pm   36

wow a good update for once but please offer the ppl who dont want those to be honest pants minis maybe we could pick a game or dlc to the same value dont see why giving us a choice of content is so hard for u guys to do then plus will be most excellent

still no bf3 caspian trailer in 1080p for us to drool over come on get get get it on the store already

Its pretty exciting that you decided to throw us in New Zealand a bone with Street Fighter rather than just skip us out(Soul Reaver,Lead and Gold)

windsorblue01 7 September, 2011 @ 2:06 pm   38

two words WELL DONE i see you tried to compete with the yanks and you tried your best best plus update in a while

just one question are ever likely to see mushroom wars which we were supposed to have months ago on plus

To whom it may concern (At European Sony stuff)

I see that americans are getting the good deals out of owning a ps3 and for also being a plus subscriber. What about us europeans from Iurp? Europe is playstation land whereas US is xbox land and we always get the short stick. Ranging from higher prices on games, fewer titles on PSN than US and worse offers. When is this going to change and when is playstation Europe going to treat better the european customer or you don’t care because we’ll always buy your products? I am actually pretty curious why is US getting the better goods than Europe when here customers buy more playstation products and games..?

P.S. I know i should email it and not post it here, but here it goes…

Shou_Kobayashi 7 September, 2011 @ 2:06 pm   40

By the way great you bundled the trial & unlock to begin with in Germany for BloodRayne, though I’m not buying it. It’s the move that I consider as great :)

What’s the Latest on Res Evil 2 and 3??? I really thought you’d pull that one out the bag for us… alas no :(

A new PES demo? I’ve been playing that all week

SalmonCannon 7 September, 2011 @ 2:06 pm   43

Kaleidoscope (minis) <<<<<< this is VERY strange.. .. im not sure how to play it, or what to do, but the music is nice :D

Spaulding 7 September, 2011 @ 2:07 pm   44

Will we ever get Auditorium HD?

blueyoshi5 7 September, 2011 @ 2:07 pm   45

okay Ross it does say discount on the post for resi 4 and c.v. next time i will read before posting a comment :)

ROBERTWARNES 7 September, 2011 @ 2:07 pm   46

Cladun X2

Availability: Not available in Australia or New Zealand

Paul Keating was right, we really do live in the a**e and of the world.

Bumblebee 7 September, 2011 @ 2:07 pm   47

Who do I have to sleep with to get Ubisoft to update Beyond Good & Evil with “proper” controls? I.e. I want to invert the vertical controls but NOT the horizontal. Inverting controls inverts both so my horizontal controls are the wrong way round when my verticals are correct, and vice versa! I can’t play the game like this, I feel like I wasted my monies!

No Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollektion?
It’s bad, but I still want it!!

SynysteRx- 7 September, 2011 @ 2:07 pm   49

Still no Marvel vs Capcom 3 avatars?

Come on!

Might have to give Blood Rayne a try.
Hey Ross, quick Q, can you tell me if Sony is trying to make sure we get FEZ on the PSN. It was slated for a early 2011 release on the Xbox, but has been delayed till late 2011 with an intrest to release on multiple platforms including PSN. Its developed by Polytron and was in the Pax10 last week just in case your wondering what i’m going on about. But yeah the game looks insane and hey Sony did just invest 20mill in the PSN maybe use some of that to grease a few palms and get that game on PSN!
