‘Heads-Up’ Game Store And PlayStation Plus Update: 14th September 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store and PlayStation Plus Update

Hello Everyone -

We kick off the final week of PLAY today with the release of the highly anticipated Renegade Ops from SEGA.

In Renegade Ops you must defeat Inferno, a madman intent on global domination. Destroy enemies across a range of stunning environments using a wide variety of vehicles. Players have the choice to fight alone in single player mode, team up offline with two-player split screen or join the dynamic 4-player online co-op experience. Blast your way through enemy lines by working together, or compete for achievements as you and your friends aim to top the online leader boards.

With the release of Renegade Ops, you now have only one week left to purchase all four PLAY titles to be eligible for a free copy of PAYDAY: The Heist upon its release – make sure you purchase all the PLAY titles before 11.59pm on September 20th to receive your copy.

I am also very pleased that this week we can bring you Ubisoft’s From Dust to the Store with a one-week only discount of 20% for Plus subscribers, so be sure to take advantage of this offer.

Speaking of limited time offers, the PSP Power Sale will only be around for one more week, so make sure you take the opportunity to grab yourself a bargain before they’re gone.

We also have some other great titles for you this week, including the fantastic God of War Collection Volume II and the unashamedly ridiculous Bulletstorm (a personal favourite of mine).

So here’s the offering, please do snap up anything that takes your fancy – I am out of the office and Mr. Stewart has been granted a small break for all his hard work leaving us a little short-handed, so comments will commence from tomorrow morning this time around (I’ve blocked out a good couple of hours from my diary specifically for this).

So I’ll see you then!

Lats week I read about how you folks unfortunately couldn’t get the PAL version of Resident Evil 2&3 to work on PSN and were looking to try and get it in via the import program.

Would this program also make it possible to get more USA-only games over here, like Chrono Cross and Wild Arms 2?

    Ross McGrath 16 September, 2011 @ 1:42 pm

Sorry to use your comment as an anchor! The answer to your question is yes, absolutely and we’re intending to do just this.

Okay – interim update for you all, for a couple of hit button issues:

    - The White Knight Chronicles II DLC was held up by a small legal issue we had in the EU – this is resolved and we’ll have a batch of DLC for this title on the 21st

    - The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection: while I cannot comment on a release date, I know there has been a technical issue that has held this title up for us which we’re working to resolve. The Kollection will be released as soon as we can get it to you.

    - The LittleBigPLanet Move Pack should indeed have been on the update: It’s PEGI 7, Available in all locales and priced at £6.29/€7.99

    - Bloodrayne: Betrayal is also now available in New Zealand, so if you’re planning on grabbing all four PLAY titles before the 21st September, you can now do so.

    Ross McGrath 16 September, 2011 @ 1:46 pm

I will be back to comment properly and answer what questions I can but it’s going to have to be over the weekend because I have no time in my work days to do it at the moment. If I can, I will jump on this evening as well. It’s extremely fortunate that I don’t have an active social life of any kind.

Nightmare966 14 September, 2011 @ 1:40 pm   2

Hey, where’s the DLC for White Knight Chronicles 2 US just got? We’ve waited a lot already… :(

sephiroth180 14 September, 2011 @ 1:41 pm   3

Fine update :)

Argh! Still no Blood Ravens DLC for space marine! :’(

Hi Ross!

Decent update, will definitely be grabbing the FIFA 12 demo! :D

Slightly off-topic here but I was wondering if there’s going to be another post here on the blog anytime soon with more details on the Uncharted 3: Explorer’s Edition (such as where we will be able to buy it from, etc) that we were promised for over the summer?

It’s just that I’m getting anxious now as currently it’s only available at GameStop.co.uk for the U.K and I don’t want to buy it from there, so I’m really hoping it isn’t a GameStop exclusive. :(

If there’s not going to be another post about it is there any way you could find out for all of us Uncharted fanatics? :D

Thanks,
Skitz001

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:08 am

I will speak to the powers that be, but I imagine that this is already in the works.

Hey Ross, quick Q, can you tell me if Sony is trying to make sure we get FEZ on the PSN. It was slated for a early 2011 release on the Xbox, but has been delayed till late 2011 with an intrest to release on multiple platforms including PSN. Its developed by Polytron and was in the Pax10 at Pax just in case you’re wondering what I’m going on about. But yeah the game looks insane and hey Sony did just invest 20million in the PSN maybe use some of that to grease a few palms and get that game on PSN!
I asked this last week but didn’t get a reply hope you can give me some info.

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:13 am

Since this is quite firmly aligned with the other platform, there may be some kind of temporary exclusivity, but I’m also interested in FEZ as a title so I’ll talk to our dev support group and see if they’ve already approached Polytron.

guitardevil6 14 September, 2011 @ 1:42 pm   7

Not much for me, though God of War Collection is certainly tempting and may look into From Dust.

Ross, is it likely we’ll be getting Resident Evil 2 & 3 this month for the anniversary? I can’t wait for 4 & Code Veronica in HD :D

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:15 am

We were trying to get them out on the Store prior to Resident Evil 4 and CV releasing but they’ve been slightly held up. We’re talking a couple of weeks rather than months though.

No MK:HD? Any news on that one??

MK:AK, sorry

Good update :D Dying to try the FIFA 12 demo, better get on early before the masses DL it :D

I will be trying From Dust aswell, been hearing about it but not much about what it is. If you get me :P

Bealinator 14 September, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   11

Good update, but I have three main questions:

1) What is the reasoning behind the Splinter Cell HD price? It is more expensive than buying the games individually!

2) Bulletstorm price – good one! I got it for £9.99 a few months ago from Argos, but that price is a goodish way to price a digi game.

3) Any more PSone classics inbound this month?

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:20 am

That bundle price was incorrect – that would be €29.99 rather than €39.99

And yes, we’ve got some more PSone titles coming in over the next few weeks.

Nothing for my PSP barring a couple of minis :(

Is God of War available today?

jonnatarUK 14 September, 2011 @ 1:43 pm   14

Ross, sort this missing content out please:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216515
I ask because I really want to buy it!

deadsleepx 14 September, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   15

Ross ok update this week looking forward to resident evil 4 next week. couple of questions

1. any word on the heavy rain dlc that was missing off the move edition.

2. do you know what the price of resident evil 4 and code veronica will be.

3. any word on mortal kombat trilogy?

4. in the god of war collection 2, is the directors video free the same as on the disc version or do we have to pay extra?

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:31 am

Yeah, there’s a resolution being worked out regarding the Heavy Rain issue, we’ll notify you as soon as the details are organised.

HIII ROSSS GOOD UPDATE BUT I ASK EVERY WEEK WHEN WILL THE UK STORE GET SPYRO ON PSN PLEASE PLEASE GET US THIS WE HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR AGES NOW THANKS PLEASE REPLY =]

Nice update, although it’s amazing how many Eyepet avatars that are pumped out.

Going to try From Dust!

Bassmonkey_Mike 14 September, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   18

FIFA 12 demo is all i need..thankyou! B-)

Stoopid_Snot 14 September, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   19

will Street Fighter Alpha 2 price be fixed for plus users?

Wait wait wait…Splinter Cell HD’s 3 games are sold for 10€ separately but the bundle costs 40€?

I guess that’s not how it’s supposed to be.

PHILYPOT08 14 September, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   21

FIFA 12 DEMO WOOOOOO & ross how close r we to getting MvC3 avatars we gotta be close by now but cant wait to get FIFA 12 DEMO :)

Bealinator 14 September, 2011 @ 1:44 pm   22

Ach! Just remembered – how much will PAYDAY: The Heist cost if you don’t participate in the PLAY system?

lonewolf23786 14 September, 2011 @ 1:45 pm   23

can we get the SNK games that were released on Xbox Live over on PSN please? Garou, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, King of Fighters 02 Unlimited Match please

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:46 am

That would be up to SNK, and I know we have more coming but I’m not sure of which specifically.

Nice update, but where’s the Myths and Mavericks Bonus pack for RDR? Also, do you have any idea when’s the free DLC for Portal 2 coming out? I’ve also been asking for Portal 2 avatars on the later pages of the store update entries. Wheatley avatar would be sick and companion cube too, of course.
These pretty good looking avatars:
http://steamcommunity.com/games/portal2/Avatar/List

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 9:51 am

I’m seeing Valve on Thursday so I will ask about the possibility of working with EA on some Portal avatars – very nice idea!

The Myths and Mavericks bonus pack did indeed launch but is only available via the RDR in-game store.

WHERE IS THE DLC FOR WHITE KNIGHT CHRONICLES II?
The US already has it AND WE ARE STILL WAITING.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL.

Repeat from last week but earlier in the list:
Any idea when Patapon 3 DLC levels are coming to UK/Europe?

LAClennell 14 September, 2011 @ 1:45 pm   27

where’s the LBP MOVE Pack? and any knews on the flippin Pink Knight for Castle Crashers? Xbox Live got theirs 2 weeks ago

Um….LBP Move pack?

Where are the WKC2 DLCs? US got it already, Japan has it since the beginning of the time… what about us?

LAClennell 14 September, 2011 @ 1:46 pm   30

news*

Hey Ross, any spoilers which psone imports did Square decided to throw our way?

Would it be possible to ask EA/Bioware for a sale on Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC please, the 360 already had a sale on it some weeks ago yet it released on both consoles at the same time.

devil_spawn666 14 September, 2011 @ 1:46 pm   33

Good update.

Still no date for the Test Drive Unlimited 2 Explorer FREE DLC?

Can we have confirmation and/or a date of release? Any news would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Still no Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection?
Way to go SCEE, just ignore the EU fans of this great series..

No move pack ? And whens Portuguese PS Store getting GTA 4 , RDR and DMC 4 avatars?

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 12:53 pm

I’m chasing the avatar – the original problem is that they were created against a product that wasn’t available in those Stores so the paperwork has to be manually updated by Rockstar for us to be able to publish them. As for the DMC avatars I’ll query it with Capcom.

Are you kidding, no DLC for white knight chronicle 2 ?
We’re waiting for 3 months already while US got them at day 1, cut the joke already.

GhostViper 14 September, 2011 @ 1:47 pm   37

Isn’t there going to be a move pack too for LBP2?

EXPLAIN THE ABSENCE OF WKC II DLC NOW. I WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS ANY LONGER, I AM DISGUSTED BEYOND BELIEF.

ROBERTWARNES 14 September, 2011 @ 1:47 pm   39

In last week’s update it said that Persona 3 Portable was available in all locales, however I can’t find in the Australian store. Many other people in the comments section were also having trouble finding it. What’s the story with this? Thanks in advance.

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 12:54 pm

It seems that the game is in fact not avalable in Australia and NZ at the moment, but we’ve been in touch with the publisher this morning to see we can convince them to release everywhere.

Chocobo115 14 September, 2011 @ 1:47 pm   40

I bought a PS move the other day and I thought. “It’d be nice with a move games sale” any chances?

Also Ross are you as pumped as i am over Final fantasy X HD!?
I hope they throw in X-2 & XII into the mix too!

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 10:41 am

    Heya,

We had our last Move Sale in March so we might well be heading for one soon.

And yeah, very excited! FFX is one of my favourites, as with most people I expect.

asparagus_hunter 14 September, 2011 @ 1:48 pm   41

Shouldn’t the Move pack for LBP2 be here?

Is it just me,or is LBP not on the list.

Huono_peleis 14 September, 2011 @ 1:48 pm   43

“Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy HD (£31.99/€39.99)”

They were 10€ each if you bought them seperately. What a sweet deal! :D

Hello, hello, Mr. Darth Vader;)! (Yes, yes, you are in the dark side for don’t give all the games that we request. You want all it only for you ;-\)

Now my Import wish list:

Japanese Classics PSOne:

Megaman 1-2-3-4-5, Sonic Wings Specials, Shienryu, Parodius, DonPachi, DoDonPachi, Strikers 1945 II.

USA Classics PSOne:

I’m very interested in From Dust.
So that one I will try.

The rest is nothing for me, or very overpriced :)

Still no Auditorium HD. Will we ever get it?

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 10:41 am

Well we’re supposed to be but I haven’t heard a thing about it for a long time. I will chase it up.

AnimaOnline 14 September, 2011 @ 1:49 pm   47

Correct me if I’m wrong but shouldn’t the LittleBigPlanet 2 Move Pack DLC also be on that list? It was mentioned yesterday that the DLC would be added in today’s Store update.

Hi there.
Is there any news of quest DLC for White Knight Chronicles 2?
Last i heard was that it was being held up in Japan.

Is it possible to give any information regarding the status of this?

Thanks

wardragon989 14 September, 2011 @ 1:50 pm   49

Its nice we are getting avatars but I think you guys should ask more companies to give some more. Like with the Bleach game being released this week are we getting avatars with that? What about more Resistance 3 avys? Driver? Batman: Arkham City? Modern Warfare 3? Battlefield? and other big titles?

It would be cool to get more.

-

Maybe you guys could create a website where we the community could upload suggestions for themes and avatars for specifically games. Sony would get in contact with the developers to make sure its ok. We receive nothing (money wise), and the price it goes up as; Sony and the company who developed it get the money.

Call it the community corner.

    Ross McGrath 19 September, 2011 @ 12:56 pm

That’s quite a nice idea, perhaps we can formulate it as a blog post raher than a particular dedicated site – it would be nice to get a big chunk of community feedback on what kind of avatars you’d like to see.
