This is my first post for Starhawk on the SCEE Blog so hello from Austin, Texas! We’ve got something wicked to show you today — The extended Space Combat Trailer for Starhawk!
So this video was cut together by our team in San Diego, California and was captured from gameplay on our CTF-Small Orbital Platform map. The trailer gives a really great taste of what our space combat is like in Starhawk! You may have seen some of our previous gameplay vids that were recorded on one of our Acid Sea maps with it’s cool looking terrain and jagged spires, blah, blah, blah. But what’s really awesome about the Orbital Space Platform maps is that they feel very urban like city and street combat and that’s something that we’re really happy about!
The team and I here at LightBox Interactive really want each of our envrionment types to have a unique feel, but still all based on the fast-paced troop, vehicle and aircraft gameplay that our fans love. And because of each environment’s unique structure and style, our Build & Battle mechanics feel really cool and fresh in each of the environment as well. We absolutely love this and hope you all will too because it allows players to not only adapt their combat tactics per environment, but their support and building tactics as well.
Some of you hopefully got a chance to play Starhawk at GamesCom recently but if not, don’t worry! We are going to be showing Starhawk at Eurogamer Expo and at GAMEfest! So if you are interested in getting your hands on Starhawk’s Solo Campaign, and you *TOTALLY* should be, get tickets to these events and play the game for yourself and let us know what you think!
Oh, and one last thing! Here’s a Starhawk avatar if you’d like to use it for Twitter or Forums, or whatever.
Rock on Everyone and keep an eye on www.StarhawkTheGame.com and the blog here for the latest updates on Starhawk!
More soon!

Wooo I cannot wait for this game. Will you be including a Man Cake trophy?
Posted on 15 September, 2011 at 5:06 pm by Dylan Jobe
Ha! Yeah, we probably will. Although generally speaking, we finalize the list of Trophies and awards towards the very end of the game so that we can make sure they are as relevant and tuned for the final product as possible.

Never got into Warhawk, but this game looks very intriguing. Will there be a (public) beta? A game like this with so many moving parts is bound to have balance issues, that’d hopefully be ironed out prior the release.
Posted on 15 September, 2011 at 5:15 pm by Dylan Jobe
We will of course be conducting a public beta and you are *TOTALLY* right that there are a ton of moving parts in Starhawk. So while we do our very best to make sure the game is tuned, we know for a fact that the players and fans will be providing us vital info to help us really make sure the game is solid and balanced!
So yes, we’ll be making tuning changes from player feedback in the beta but please also know that I’m sure there will be a few items that still need tuning even after release. And frankly, that’s not such a bad thing. Sometimes you see different play patterns once you have tons of players online.
But rest assured that Starhawk supports some really great systems so we can tune and balance the gameplay very quickly if we identify something we missed or if you guys find an exploit, or whatever.

EXCELLENT trailer dude!
Only thing better looking than space battles is a fine pair of bouncing 3D B000bies!
Note: there’s still time to add hot chicks to SH dude

Loved Warhawk can’t wait for StarHawk loads of man caking to be done
That trailer is all kinds of EPICNESS think u and Lightbox team have done an excellent job of it can’t wait to have a go at Eurogamer Expo.
Will yourself or Harvard be there?
Thanks
Posted on 15 September, 2011 at 5:18 pm by Dylan Jobe
Thanks for the kind words!
The SONY team in San Diego did all the work on the trailer so I have to give them mad props!
Unfortunately, Harvard and I are stuck in the states for awhile as we attend to the game at a very, very critical time (more info on that later).
However, Flo our Sr. Producer at SCEE is often at the events. I think she’s actually at GAMEfest right now! Hopefully you get a chance to meet her. She’s cool.

Don’t think I spent more time on any game than I did on Warhawk, so Starhawk is a must buy, just hope the trophies are a tad easier than Warhawk, seemed to me getting the platinum there would have been a herculean task.
Posted on 15 September, 2011 at 5:28 pm by Dylan Jobe
OMG yes. There are still going to be some tough trophies but you are really right, the players that *DID* unlock the Warhawk Platinum were a very, very special breed!

Dylan, I asked Harvard last time on the US blog about Hawk pickups and he said he’d ask you. Are there going to be the usual selection of weapons or are we just restricted to swarms? I understand the need to balance against ground pounding but flying made Warhawk unique and I’d be nervous about limiting the Hawk weapons in Starhawk.
Other than that slight worry for me, the game looks amazing. The beta will end my social life for sure. Warhawk was hands down the best game I’ve played on the PS3 and I’ve easily racked up over 2000 hours of gameplay. I also got your insanely hard platinum without any cheating

Dylan thankyou for taking the time to post direct to us on EU, here in the UK you have a huge number of Warhawk fans, those not playing still have fond memories beyond any server stats (which I’m sure are amazing enough. It’s another case of your attention to detail which is sure to deliver another truly special game.
This trailer is – incredible. Sure it’s an edit but it’s clear there is simply no compromise in gameplay for the visuals – yet the visuals rule.
One question – are Sony giving you a tasty marketing budget around launch, I’m thinking TV ads and billboards? Seems to me much more point in this for Starhawk than for the obvious Battlefield which will sell by the truckload anyway..

Looks fantastic, but please can you improve the matchmaking system with your friends & the internal VOIP, as it was terrible within Warhawk!
I’m Intrigued with how the building of structures & facilities etc will work in this game. I’m a bit skeptical on whether or not it will ruin the gameplay, but i’ll have to wait & see how the game plays within the BETA eh??
Will be glad to play something different though, but with all the great games releasing within the first quarter it’s hard to decide. Very pleased with a BETA as it may sway my decision to get this rather than some of the other titles

I hope I’m not late. So will you give the soundtrack for free within the game to be able to copy it straight to your PS3 just like some old PSOne games which included it because the soundtrack gave me the chills in a good way. Other sound effects were great as well, especially the transformation from mech to hawk.
And are jetpack spawns map specific buildings or are they available in every map?
For me this game is a must buy. Just wondering what you guys at LBInc could do with better hardware. Hoping that you will Starhawk sequel for the PS4 if it ever comes out.

Didn’t like Warhawk that much because of the weird controlls on foot and in vehicles (the flying was great though), this looks much more refined..
Keep those must have exclusives coming
