Zombie Driver HD Coming To PSN

This is Pawel Lekki from EXOR Studios in Szczecin, Poland. It is my first post on the EU PlayStation Blog – nice to meet you everyone!

After months and months of hard work I am proud to tell you that Zombie Driver HD will soon be coming to the PlayStation Network. Zombie Driver was originally released on the PC and after lots and lots of improvements it will soon be ready for you to enjoy on the PlayStation 3.

In the game’s story campaign you find yourself trapped in a city full of walking corpses without any option to escape, locked in by a military quarantine. Your only way to survive is to use your driving skills to smash through hordes of zombies and try to save anyone left alive in the city.

Zombie Driver HD features a more varied narrative campaign that is twice as long as the original, adding epic boss fights, demolition missions, new enemies and special vehicles such as a fire truck, bulldozer and even a tank, as well as many more gameplay enhancements… The gameplay mechanics have received a new round of polish by introducing an improved camera system, a recharging afterburner that will help you get out of tough spots and a minimap that will guide you through a labyrinth of zombie filled streets.

If you aren’t into complicated plot lines and corporate conspiracy theories, check out the adrenaline pumping Blood Race mode full of insane cars, guns and explosions. It includes three distinct game types that will satisfy all racing and reckless driving fans. In Race events the objective is simple – the first zombie driver past the finish line wins (that is unless he gets ripped to shreds by his opponents). Eliminator events are even simpler to grasp – destroy as many opponents as you can before the time runs out. And last, but not least – Endurance events – there is a bomb on your car and its ticking – smash zombies, demolish the race track or pass through checkpoints to extend the timer. Not to mention that the entire Blood Race campaign includes 30 different events…

The game is so packed with content that even that’s not all! The third available game mode is called the Slaughter and it puts you in a desperate fight against endless zombie waves on specially crafted arenas. The goal is to survive as long as possible, make huge kill combos and show your friends who is the best zombie driver on the leaderboards.

I don’t have a final release date to share with you yet, but I’ll try to do my best to keep you updated. I’m looking forward to your questions in the comments below. You can also find more information about Zombie Driver HD on its website and our forums.

Did you enjoy this?

Looks like a racing mod of Dead Nation …

… or a zombie mod of a old GTA.

Wait and see … :-p

this application is not suported :-)

Getting kind of sick of zombies :(

Awesome!
Can we expect a demo/trial? :)

@StevenHibs I agree been feeling a little Zombie fatigue lately.

Not available in Germany, I guess.

Zombie Driver HD is not yet rated by the USK, but the PC version is available in Germany, so there shouldn’t be problems with releasing it on PSN.

Oh smart! I have Zombie Driver on Steam and it absorbed hours of my life.
Will there be new features on the PS3 version?

I will buy zombie games until the cows come home, this looks awesome.

dziękuję

Looks Sweet!

I’m intrigued.

I’ll download the Trial & see how it plays first.

Going by the trailer it looks great :)

Apache AH64 is missing or not supported ?

Co-op?

    Pawel Lekki 30 September, 2011 @ 10:19 am

Unfortunately there is no co-op coming. We decided to focus all our efforts on single player and have it done right, instead of adding a lot of big features and not polishing any of them enough.

I have it on PC. It’s strangely enjoyable… Especially slaughter and Blood race, which was added as a patch. Well, Eliminator events are crazy fun, other events are “meh”, but you can ignore them – Eliminator is well worth it.
2 questions:
1. Is Paradise Island Slaughter map included?
2. Is there a platinum trophy?

I think I will be willing to buy it again for PS3. I’ve bought it on steam long ago… In 2009 I believe? Very cheap. Was worth every penny.
It plays and feels really good. The main drawback – no sane minimap in campaign. Well, eventually you adapt to it and stop paying attention.

    Pawel Lekki 30 September, 2011 @ 10:11 am

    1. Yes.
    2. We don’t know that yet. That is something that we will have to confirm.

There will be a minimap in ZD HD so navigating around the city should be a lot easier. You will also be able to view the entire city map with marked objectives.

There is also going to be a minimap in Blood Race.

Oh, another important question. Will you allow chapter select in PS3 version? And keeping upgrades you bought (new game +)? I disliked how in original when you finish the campaign all your upgrades and progress is gone, you can only start a new game from scratch…
I mean, in other modes all your upgrades are persistent.

    Pawel Lekki 30 September, 2011 @ 10:15 am

Yes. There is going to be mission select in story mode where you can play any unlocked mission with any car you like. All of the car upgrades will accumulate in that mode.

The different car skins are also going to be available in all game modes, plus the unlocked cars will carry over.

not being mean but zombies? seriously.. u needa think outta the box more bring on a caveman rpg where u get to ride mammotha and have to save miss caveman from saber tooth cats

there isnt any stone age rpgs out..time to fill the gap any chance of an apprenticeship? ill be ur padawan learner n u can be the jedi master n together we’ll become the darkside of gaming

srry im crazy hyper…starting driving lessons soon….cant wait till i can drive!!!

i think Zombies are becoming FAR to overused in the gaming industry. i mean we got
Dead Island, Left 4 Dead (x2), CoD Black Ops Zombies, Plants vs Zombies, Dead Block, Age of Zombies (mini), OMG Zombies (mini), Resident Evil (x a lot), Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, Dead Nation, Burn Zombie Burn, Zombie Apocolypse, plus more i probably havent mentioned…and now Zombie Driver! come on game devs, show some originality and imagination.

*injects self with a dose of skyrim* i need skyrim now

@polynski
i though turok was quit cavmanish in the sense it was prehistoric, would love them to make a second game it was pretty cool. i loved leading dinos towards the enemy, lunch time!!!

this game is not that good,i mean it looks good but gets boring too quickly, maybe those who like trophies will play it to the end. if you’re going to do a Zombie game you need to challenge DEAD NATION’s crown as the best zombie game.

anyway enough of the zombie games what we need is more castle defender type of games on PSN we only have 2: savage moon & the brilliant Pixel Junk Monsters.

hahaha. A horde of zombies. A car with a spiked steel-bumper and a turbo-kit. Pure class.
