If you’ve had a passing acquaintance with PlayStation Blog over the last few weeks you might well have noticed some of the exciting new content being released for Gran Turismo 5. Initially there was the bumper pack of free content within Update 2.0 that became available last week. At the same time last week we also confirmed exactly what was coming your way within the new DLC packs for the game.
Well folks today is DLC day and I am happy to confirm that all of the five packs are now available. So (making sure you have downloaded Update 2.0) head over to PlayStation store and take your pick of the Racing Car, Course, Racing Gear or Special Paint Packs…heck you might even throw caution to the wind, go the whole hog and bag yourself the entire set in the Complete Pack. The choice is yours…
To set the decision making process off (and to see some of the new content in action) check out the re-worked GT5 opening movie that was included in Update 2.0. Enjoy!

Firstly, Grats Sony on the nice update.
Nice to see work being done on something thats already out for a while.
I would have bought the update, but no plus discount as yet.
I am having second thoughts though. I mean, from what i have heard, the paint is like the paint chips that can only be used once????
In a game with the most usable cars, a purchased pain pack only let you use each one once? idiotic.
Although its still a bargain, i dont think i will buy it as i know, part of my money is being waisted on complete dookie.
I rekon the paint pack should be free (since its 1 time) and the complete pack price come down slightly.

First I was not so thrilled about 5$ for basically just Spa (I’m not much interested in Karting).
Then I saw the photos of both tracks and I was ready to buy DLC for the first time since WipEout Fury.
Now I read that the DLC is usable only with the account that bought it? I don’t share DLC or downloadable games, I just have several accounts and want to use this stuff on all my accounts on my single PS3 as it was possible ever since I bought Rub’a'Dub!
Therefore I won’t buy any DLC for GT5.

the greed of this industry lately is just sickening.

@54… seriously, this again?
its not greed if they are charging for extrta content.
You do not require this to play the game, so just dont buy it.
On the other hand, i pay loads of taxes, and see nothing of it, cause of our loverly goverment.
Now thats Greed.
get your facts strait and get sick elsewhere.

I really miss some official responses from Mr. Penrose Tackie, or other Sony/PD representative, on this issue…
The whole community is at riot about this DLC-release, and the way it is limited…
Why have you elected to change how the DLC is handled, and yet not ‘warned’ the users about it in advance.
A lot of us has bought the DLC in believe of being able to share it between all sub-accounts on the PS3.
If known in advanced, I would not have bought the complete package, but maybe only the track-package, as I also have to buy it for my kids accounts..
As of now, with current limitation to only one account, the price is way to high..! Other race-sim products offers DLC with several NEW cars, and multiple new tracks (real life) at a mere 5€ for the complete pack…
Also the limitation, that makes it unusable if regions doesn’t match between PSN-account, GT5-disc and PSN Store, wasn’t published in beforehand, so a lot of GT5-users have bought the DLC but cannot use it.. at all…
This also need to be handled..!

Hi,
1 question, unless i missed it, i dont see it raised here.
I have 2.0 installed, but still have the old intro?
I confirmed it this morning.
Is there any reason for this?

Posted on 19 October, 2011 at 12:15 pm by potential91
@57 You need to download the new intro from Gran Turismo TV

Is anyone who bought the content last night going to be refunded the difference if they have PS+? just asking because it’s pretty unfair to punish GT fans who couldn’t wait and have PS+

Not that I want to add to the furore surrounding this, but I was under the impression that the DLC would be free for people who spent £150 or thereabouts buying the Signature edition version of the game; at that price tag I’d certainly hope for a ‘season pass’ equivalent for all future DLC as a gesture of goodwill. There’s no way I can justify spending more money on this game than I have already.

It was also hinted at in Amar212′s ‘Winds’ post:
“..Greater reunion will ask for great sacrifice to be made in order to get all present and future treasures without new sacrifices needed, while smaller reunion will come in form already known, asking for more sacrifices if future treasures catches the eyes of the birdtamers.”

HMMMMM, the game intro has now gone from amazingly awesome to just typical mainstream
that new song is not suiting at all and the video is not as timed as the old one was.
other than that, thanks for the wonderful update!!!!!!

Wait… so even though it clearly says in the post “re-worked GT5 opening movie that was included in Update 2.0. Enjoy!” i still actually need to download it over and above the update?
Would of never guessed that.

@PirateThom
Doubt it.But i’m seriously not happy about it,not a single response until this morning,not even acknowledgement in Mr.Tackie’s post that a plus discount even existed.

I bought the USA Collectors Edition of GT5 because it came with the 1:43 Nissan GTR, but I play on my European account.
This means that since the DLC is Account-Locked that I have to buy the European version of GT5 and play the game all over again (I am now A-Spec level 38, and B-Spec level 40) !!
You can’t be serious about that, Can you ????
In every game I own I could buy DLC in the USA Store and play it on my EU account, Why isn’t this so with GT5 ?????

@akasog.
it’s not the fact there is dlc i have a problem with, it’s the way they’re locking it to a single account on the machine and selling single use virtual items.
and you see nothing for your taxes?
not the police?
hospitals, schools or even street lights?

OH Dear i didnt get my ps+ discount when i purchased the DLC? IS there anything that can be done :/

Posted on 19 October, 2011 at 3:26 pm by aKaSoG
@HazelAM
ok, fair enough i guess, i only have 1 account, so ive never felt that problem.
Ya, you obviously havent been to South Africa before.
The only thing that i can agree to is street lights.
Alarm companies in SA are more trained than police, and there reponse time is about 30 mins, as opposed to police being about 2-4 hours… on an emergency.
Public hospitals are where you go to get sick.
90% tax payers here go to private doctors.

@akasog, i didn’t notice your flag and assumed you were in the uk without thinking, sorry.
and no, never been to South Africa before.
that’s terrible about the police there.
people complain them here but some places are much worse off.
as for the hospitals, they’ve got that reputation here in the uk too.
what with mrsa and other so called “superbugs”.

I’ll answer my own question – it seems that today’s optional firmware update 3.73 has fixed my freezing issue, where I was unable to start any race in GT5 without the console seizing up. No other game or function seemed to be affected, which was rather puzzling, but it seems that the update has fixed whatever was wrong. Kudos for the quick (if unacknowledged) response to the problem Sony!

It seems that I spoke too soon. Back to freezing up on race start again, and still the only game affected. Why it worked immediately the software update was applied I have no idea – it may have been complete coincidence. I quit out of the race believing it to be fixed and came back later to find myself back to square one. Now I wish I’d completed that race while it was working to get out of this circle. Can anybody offer any advice?

@lan387
Not on my side, but if you have not installed data to your HDD, maybe its a place to start.
If you have, perhaps deleting and re-installing might help?
It hasnt hapened to me on my PS3, but data goes corrupt without warning some time.

ian387:
did you try to delete your game install of GT5? (yeah that huge one……) , normally deleting that file does help (for other games too).
PS:don’t delete your save game ofcourse

Posted on 20 October, 2011 at 11:37 am by Ian387
Yep, I’ve tried uninstalling the installed game files to no avail

Posted on 20 October, 2011 at 12:34 pm by Ian387
In fact, as a last resort, I’ve even deleted the remaining 3.8GB file from XMB, putting the game back to factory settings, and still every race is freezing up at the start. I thought that had to work, so I’m less than pleased to have 3.8GB of updates to download again and a game which still doesn’t work… I recorded a video while I was still on 2.0 – see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gynwF1U77P4

Bought the DLC pack today, with the PS+ discount, and paid for it, confirmed my transaction. I began to download it, put it on Background Download then went away to play MGS4 while it downloaded. I did a check on how it was getting on after about 15 mins, and it wasn’t on my background download list. So I quit, went onto PS store and looked at my download history. It wasn’t there. So I went back into the PS+ Section, where I found it to begin with, and it was no longer there. Did I just spend £7 on nothing? did anyone else have this? BTW, should be pointed out I downloaded it from GB Store. I’m pretty annoyed.

@ Sammyboy
Ya, the data is on the update, so no download required.
Boot up GT5, and press the new DLC icon in the main menu.
You then just install the packages.
