Why the long wait?

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:47 pm

Hello, sorry for our long delay and we apologize for the lack of communication up to this point. We ran into a last minute technical issue with the game, and unfortunately this put us in with SCEE Format QA at the absolute busiest time of the year. We’ve been working very closely with the SCEE QA & Publishing Groups to ensure we release PAYDAY on the earliest possible date. As soon as we received confirmation on Code Approval and our Official Release Date we communicated that information out IMMEDIATELY. Again, we apologize for the delay and lack of communication. We are confident that you’ll very much enjoy PAYDAY. The game will be well worth the wait!!

It’s too late. That day I play Uncharted 3 and a few days later in MW3.

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:49 pm

Hello, sorry for our long delay and we apologize for the lack of communication up to this point. We are confident that you’ll very much enjoy PAYDAY. The game will be well worth the wait and we hope you’ll check PAYDAY out again after UC3 and MW3. We’ll be around. ;-)

Happy it’s finally coming but the delay (and following radio silence) has soiled this for me.

As the first PLAY promotion this is also a pretty damning indictment of SCEE’s attitude to their European customers. It’s just not good enough any more when your main competitor can go day and date with their promotions across all regions.

I appreciate that you guys in Overkill have probably worked around the clock to get this out in Europe but the ball was massively dropped here. It’s likely not even your fault.

When Sony get better at fulfilling their commitments made to European customers I might think about availing of such a promotion in the future; hopefully some lessons have been learned by the time the next PLAY comes around.

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:52 pm

I appreciate your candor. The development team worked tirelessly to hit all dates and submissions. This was very unfortunate, but something we have learned from that will be applied to future product releases. We do hope you check out the game. We are confident you will find it very fun, challenging and entertaining.

Thank you again for your support.

OK, so two final questions to answer:

1. When do those of us getting it free through the PLAY promotion get sent our codes?

2. Do we also get the pre-order bonus items included, seeing as we effectively pre-ordered it before anyone else?

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 8:02 pm

Look for a message next week. You will be getting those codes with the release of the game. Thank you for your tremendous support and we apologize again for our delay. The pre-order items were only included for those customers that pre-ordered the game.

xxSamuraiGirlxx 28 October, 2011 @ 12:57 pm   5

price?

bad timing tho tbh, no one is gonna be playing this, it’s all about bf3 and u3 next week.

which sucks cause i was looking forward to playing this game with friends. oh well =/

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:56 pm

€ 16.99 and 12.99 GBP. It’s still a great game to check out with friends and something I wouldn’t pass up. For a 1/3 of the price of those products you’ll find that you and your friends will have just as much fun. Thank you for the support and we hope to see you in PAYDAY in the future. We’ll be around for a while.

Dudley0Neill 28 October, 2011 @ 12:58 pm   6

Strange. I don’t care about this game anymore.

But let me guess – This game will be delayed even further for NZ users.

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:58 pm

The game will be released on 11/2 for the Australia and New Zealand users. We hope you give us a second chance. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you for your support and we apologize again for our delay.

2 busy playing BF3 2 even care.

Quad-JeSTER 28 October, 2011 @ 1:13 pm   8

when do we (who bought the PLAY OFFER 4x games) get our voucher code to get PAYDAY for free?

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 7:59 pm

Look for a message next week. You will be getting those codes with the release of the game. Thank you for your tremendous support and we apologize again for our delay.

Too late, don’t care about it anymore.

chrisandsheva 28 October, 2011 @ 1:18 pm   10

i doubt it will happen but i think there should be a option on the store for those who pre-ordered, both with money and the play promotion, buy 3,? get one free, was it,?.., But basically those people should now have the (legal to) choice to either ‘confirm/continue’ the games download or have the games price credited to their online wallets, not need to mess about with phoning/mailing customer services but actually have this option presented to them, personally i did not order this game, but could not help but notice the shocking treatment those whom have recieved, both in the double delay and the total lack of response to people, (big word there…People, not figures on some spread sheet) who wanted answers or at least to believe they were cared about, ie a apology and maybe a bit of sympathetic understanding, now i must end this with a question, Are you a gamer,? if yes what will you be playing on 2nd nov.? you really cannot justify anything less than my suggestions, especially considering your title/job for sce,

@Dudley0Neill,

Well, it’s been rated by the Australian Ratings Board (MA 15+), and by the NZ OFLC (R18), so the normal reasons for AU/NZ not getting games doesn’t apply.

2. Do we also get the pre-order bonus items included, seeing as we effectively pre-ordered it before anyone else?

….. i agree fully with this, we who bought the PLAY OFFER, purchased that like way before the pre-order for PAYDAY was available, if anything, we pre-pre-ordered,…shoa, this wait has been so long.

I can respect that they want to deliver a good product, but at the same time they need to understand it from a users point of view.

Same day as Uncharted3….. The first release date was perfect but this is a joke to release it side by side with one of ps3s biggest exklusive.

RSG_Assassin 28 October, 2011 @ 1:30 pm   14

Sony I am entirely fed up with how you handle the European markets. You try with all your might to fill the smaller American market up so that they love you when clearly its Europe that loves you more, even when they get the worst service and I’m not even going into Aus or NZ here otherwise I will be here all day.
Europe sells more PS3s and gets you more money from the store considering the prices over here are not good converstions from $, sometimes they are completely made up in my eyes.

Sony get your act together before the release of the next gen console otherwise Europe may not be prepared to support you again especially if you copy the PS3 and release a console with less features in Europe and overprice it again like you did with the PS3. As a company you should be trying all you can to make ALL markets EQUAL and FAIR.
The funny thing is I could buy this game from the American store cheaper. The $ price is lower and I could buy a $50 PSN card dead cheap off ebay.
Think Sony, you don’t want to end up like Sega do you?

do people getting the code get it the same day and theme?

Catkiller1 28 October, 2011 @ 2:11 pm   16

Too little too late!

Will be too busy with Battlefield 3 & Uncharted 3!

Poor, Poor show SONY! :(

TheBeastyNoob 28 October, 2011 @ 2:31 pm   17

I see a lot of unhappy gamers here PlaystationEU. Hopefully someone will take the time to address some of these questions and concerns. I would be really interested in hearing why it took 2 weeks longer to bring out the same game on the same console as the American version.

How can we put our faith (and our money) into a company that has dropped the PR ball so often in the last year or so.

I am still looking forward to this game, I just hope there will be someone online to play it with :s

Nice to see it finally has a release date. I’m really looking forward to this. The wait is finally coming to an end!!

Such a shame it took so long but hey, good things are worth the wait (and i hope it plays better than the american game). Also a shame it’s out around Uncharted 3 and Battlefield 3 times but doesn’t bother me. I have to wait for my birthday till I get to play the two games. :(

Such a lovely 4 weeks of waiting for me but at least i’l have my Payday the heist to keep me entertained until then.

ROLL ON PAYDAY!!

Until then i’l stick with my inFamous Festival of blood which is btw AWESOME!! would be nice to have a christmas infamous. lol

Just one question but can you confirm the actual price?

I heard its around £13, 15 and £16.

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 8:10 pm

Thank you very much for your support. We are confident that you will find PAYDAY to be well worth the wait and money spent. You’ll have tons of fun with your friends online as you try to pull six of the toughest heists in history.

TOO LATE SONY

no communication + EU report + arrival of blockbusters = no purchase

TrueMurton 28 October, 2011 @ 3:28 pm   20

Reason for delay? Silence and length of delay is screaming QA issues, so do we at least get an assurance that this game works and is stable or was it purely localisation that held it back?

Only chance of getting a good game on this now will be if 3 of your friends also buy it unless it’s multi-region. The EU community will have been heavily leeched by the issue-free Steam release and then taken down even further by the heavy hitting November release schedule with Uncharted 3, BF3, Assassin’s Creed, MW3, Skyrim and Saint’s Row 3 all demanding a massive time investment to enjoy fully. I hope Overkill aren’t relying on EU PSN for their sales bonus, because it looks like they’ve made a quality game only to have it killed at birth by its publisher.

Homicide_17 28 October, 2011 @ 3:29 pm   21

LOL…..what makes you think im going to buy this when Uncharted comes out the same day? also BF3 came out 2 day, Skyrim and MW3 soon to follow..its to late for this game and the online community is going to be very low

A_Broken_Leg 28 October, 2011 @ 3:44 pm   22

wont be per-ordering again like most people have said the really big games are out in a few weeks so there is not time to play payday now its not on how if your not in the US you get shafted not just with stuff like this but also with things like playstation plus sony needs to remember that a lot of people have stuck with them through all the hacking problem and that they were not all yanks if you don’t want costumers in other parts of the world just tell use and we can go some were else.

Technogamer 28 October, 2011 @ 3:56 pm   23

same day as uncharted?

another sale lost here. sony europe shoots itself in the foot again. if only we got the same treatment as the US :(

somethingatt 28 October, 2011 @ 3:58 pm   24

Bad day. Everyone will be fainted from watching the awesome GTA5 trailer ;)

ukcrazyguy 28 October, 2011 @ 4:00 pm   25

No buy here, just bought bf3 and getting uncharted 3 on the tues. The delay was a massive mistake as it seems like you have lost alot of customers

Sorry sony would have bought this on its original day of release but now I’ve got BF3 and UC3 both with stellar multi-player. Plus this has been getting mediocre reviews and the internet isn’t really abuzz about this game so :P

almighty-slayer 28 October, 2011 @ 4:53 pm   27

Was really excited about this, but i shall be busy with Uncharted 3 now, so i wont bother.

Next time try and get it out when you say it will be out

wow… i didn’t buy preorder… bu to be honest You should give refund to people who are disappointed with You and want to cancel this purchase… it’s really sad, i thought about buying this game later on but after this ‘thing’ with eu customers i thank You for saving my money… have a great weekend.

Unicronic 28 October, 2011 @ 5:02 pm   29

I second the general consensus. PAYDAY looks like a great game but sadly it has been delayed to coincide with the release of some giant games including Uncharted 3. This is a critical mistake in scheduling and the game will suffer because of this.

By the time people are done with UC3, BF3 etc should they choose to give Payday a shot I expect the online to be a ghost town.

So Sony, you’ve gone and annoyed way too many loyal customers with a needless delay and now they’ll show their response by NOT buying Payday during UC3, BF3 release time.

Brodiesan 28 October, 2011 @ 5:12 pm   30

SCEE, if you are reading this, and I’m honestly not trying to be sardonic here, for the next PLAY promotion I strongly suggest you get some seriously cool titles because people have been really burned by its inaugural outing and will likely NOT trust you again.

So, yeah, best get prepared to put in some long hours and maybe make some concessions with third-party publishers in an effort to salvage this concept.

Right now (and, once again, this is honestly not me trolling) I will not sign up for this promotion a second time. I simply don’t trust you to deliver. I don’t trust you at all.

ichigo_gr 28 October, 2011 @ 5:50 pm   31

lol. Everyone seems to boycott this product eventually. Fair enough though. After that long wait.

Skookie30 28 October, 2011 @ 6:15 pm   32

lol i hope some heads willl roll over this but Sony you got youself to blame.

This is the price we & you sony of having SCEI draconida muti region.

1 region out do the other + delays= losses HA HA HA.

you don’t get my sympathy :P

Muttykins 28 October, 2011 @ 6:22 pm   33

I was looking at getting this on it’s original release date to keep me going till BF3 but with this late release date i will be playing other games.
which is a pity as i was looking forward to actually playing it.

Add one more to the list of gamers who were looking forward to this, yet will not be purchasing it.
You really have to feel sorry for the developers on this one.
Its looking as though their profits will be taking a big hit on this through no fault of their own.
The level of incompetence shown by SCEE is inexcusable, and its sure to be having a massive knock on effect with their associates.
Trendy Entertainment, the developers of Dungeon Defenders, are sure to be the next victims of SCEE’s unprofessional approach to business.

ZIPLOCK13 28 October, 2011 @ 7:23 pm   35

I was extremely close to asking for a refund on this due to the pathetic treatment & complete lack of care when it comes to telling us whats going on , its only due to the fact ive played the american trial & it is a very good game that i’ve not asked for a refund.

I just dont get your complete lack of care for european customers though, i mean after scouring the web for info 6 or 7 days ago i came across a post on another forum from a guy saying he emailed SONY & was told the game will be released on 2nd Nov…
So if you knew this a week ago WHY the hell have we not been told until now?????
Ive needlessly spen so many hours searching for info when you could of just told us this date a week ago.
After this terrible treatment it would be some justice at least if we got a discount on any DLC if its not already free.
If these double standards between europe & america arnt addressed i expect you’ll see the result in the next gen PS sales figures

    Chris Sturr 28 October, 2011 @ 8:15 pm

Hi, we appreciate your patience with us and commitment to the title. We are working to improve and learn from this.

Opt1mus76 28 October, 2011 @ 7:46 pm   36

Yay! Finally. Sadly I’ll be too busy playing Uncharted 3 to really play this as well as Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. Sony have screwed up here by releasing it on same day as its biggest exclusive and smack bang between two other big games. They’ve probably cost themselves sales and caused more negativity within the community by failing to keep us informed and promoting Play and then failing to deliver on the date given.
Little chance of a reply (guess they’re too embarrassed) but will those of us who are owed Payday through Play promo get the code before the store updates or will we be left waiting while friends are playing?

guitardevil6 28 October, 2011 @ 8:17 pm   37

Completely unrelated, but i saw an announcement on ps3trophies.org to say that Hydrophobia Prophecy is finally coming out on November 2nd for £7.99 or free for PS Plus. Can anyone here confirm this??

Been looking forward to this game for ages!!

ZIPLOCK13 28 October, 2011 @ 8:50 pm   38

@Chris Sturr
Thank you for the reply Chris.
I understand there may be things behind the scenes that i dont know about & may not understand fully, but a little more information would go a long way to preventing people from becoming more frustrated, people will naturally be disappointed when a game they eagerly await gets delayed but it makes it very frustrating when you dont get told whats going on & have to spend a lot of time searching different forums Etc for any info.

Oh & will Enjoy it : )
To be honest ive been looking forward to PayDay as much as BF3 , UC3 & Batman ,
& the trial confirmed my early assumptions that it would be a great game, you dont get to escape the bank in the trial but even just playing the section up to were you bag the money was awesome, really loved it & cant wait to play the full Job & Other jobs & get new weps & equipment Etc.
Regardless of any frustration caused i highly recommend this game, best PSN game ever,
& to me it holds its own against big budget games easily.
Hope they plan lots of DLC & a sequel, it has so much potential

Skookie30 28 October, 2011 @ 9:01 pm   39

the fault is not with SoE How many times a game fall foul off SCEE Q&A i not pointing the finger at you SoE as you made the game.

you said last minutes issues but SCEA had it on time that tells me the fault is with SCEE Q&A you need only to look at our Ps1 classics to tell you that.
i will seriously consider buying it after U3 & sonic, because i‘m getting DCUO free to play next week & that is made by SoE.

& SoE learn from they mistake with it FREE to play MMO the prize for sony is the micro transaction a sub.

& thanks SoE for admitting your lack of communication. :)

“Thank You for Your Patience” – a film about Sony. Coming to the Cinemas near you very soon or maybe later.

this is sony as we know: “Thank You for Your Patience”

eagleye555 29 October, 2011 @ 1:03 am   42

I have preorder the game a long time ago please someone tell me how i will take it at 2noveber where i put the codes or if its not codes i just have to click to the game?I pay and preorder it for our patience sony we will get something extra?please someone answer.

Unicronic 29 October, 2011 @ 5:14 am   43

I have a question.

What was the nature of the “last minute technical issue” that enabled it to be released on the US market on time but not on the EU market?

ichigo_gr 29 October, 2011 @ 6:30 am   44

The same nature of issues that many other games have on EU market i suppose.

PLEASE fix the analog sensitivity! I’ve played the US demo and the game is severely broken with such rigid analog control, it feels as unresponsive as Homefront. With BF and COD, the aiming is sensitive to the slightest touch of the analog stick, but on Payday you have to move it far enough before it starts registering, which COMPLETELY ruins the game.

It was a day-1 buy for me, but after playing the demo I’ll never touch it again.. unless it’s fixed.

“The pre-order items were only included for those customers that pre-ordered the game.”

Which means people who used the PLAY promotion deal?

Weasel-Dave 29 October, 2011 @ 11:21 am   47

Too late, I have spent the funds I had put aside for this on Hard-Boiled Chicken! it has a better sound-track too! lol

TheBeastyNoob 29 October, 2011 @ 12:38 pm   48

Is there any reason you can’t put it up n the store sooner? With people having waited so long, and the game ready to go doesn’t it make sense to put it out there ASAP?

LEE_Sewell 29 October, 2011 @ 12:55 pm   49

been looking forward to this for a long time cheers for putting the the extra effort in so we can get the best possible gaming experiance once again cheers guys .
