PAYDAY crew – it’s time!

The launch date for SOE and OVERKILL Software’s PAYDAY The Heist has officially been unmasked for release in Europe! We know you all have been waiting for this announcement for some time and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the delay may have caused you. I am happy to announce that the game takes to the street on November 2 for the PlayStation Network. Soon you will be able to dive full force into complex death defying heists, while enjoying hours of replay in search for the next “big score!”

Heat Street – Watch the crew stave off the long arm of the law and engage in intense firefights throughout the city streets:

It’s Friday again (huzzah!) which means that we have a new episode of Access for you PlayStation.Blog readers. Episode 6 has a line-up choked with blockbuster brilliance, with Uncharted 3 blazing a trail of awesome through Game of the Week.

And there’s more Uncharted too, in the form of the treasure hunt event that recently took place in the blistering deserts of Jordan. Follow the UK’s contender as he battles with the elements and a couple of grumpy camels.

There are also the Access regulars to enjoy: a round-up of all the latest PS3 news plus a look at what’s hot right now on the PlayStation Store.

The whole Snowblind Studios team here in Seattle is in the final stretch of development for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. We cannot wait for the PlayStation community to get their hands on the game, which ships from November 2nd.

This has been a great year for The Lord of the Rings. The extended BDs came out this summer, timed with special theatre showings of the films across the nation. It really gave fans the chance to reconnect with these amazing stories, as well as see new content. With The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, players will be able to experience the iconic Middle-earth universe even more deeply with completely new adventures and story, all based on The Lord of the Rings canon and approved by the license holders.

I don’t need to remind you that the release of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is less than a week away and you may have seen that the reviews are rolling in, including perfect scores from IGN, PlayStation Official Magazine UK, Destructoid, The Guardian and more.

These critics have all highlighted narrative and, in particular, the actors’ performances as particular strengths. It’s unusual, when you think about it, to be talking about performances in the context of a game, but it’s that marriage of technology and human acting, along with a great script and a skilled team of animators, that brings Drake, Sully and co. to life in such a believable way.

While we were in Jordan a few weeks ago – you may have seen our Treasure Hunt video here on the blog – we spoke with Nolan North and Emily Rose, the actors behind Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher, as well as Taylor Kurosaki and Arne Meyer from Naughty Dog, about how this performance capture process works.

We’ll have more behind the scenes videos for you in the run-up to the release of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. On a scale of one to ten, how much are you looking forward to it?

On Thursday 27th October from 8AM BST PlayStation Home will be briefly offline for scheduled maintenance. Here is what to expect after the update…

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood is being unleashed upon the unsuspecting world this week, and we thought we’d share a little of the vampyrical love with you. Seek out the special inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood store in Home Square and peruse its wares to receive a free pair of glowing red vampire eyes – available only this week. Dig a little deeper and buy the game and you will be granted dominion over your very own horde of fiendish flapping nightmares, yours to wear with whatever takes your fancy! Beware people… This is bat country.

Also in Home Square this week, to celebrate the momentous release of Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One for your PS3, we have created a psychodeconstructotron! This cunning device will analyse your responses to certain stimuli and match your personality to one of the four heroes in the game; the intrepid Ratchet, the logical Clank, the blathering Captain Qwark or the nefarious… Dr. Nefarious. You will be rewarded for your participation with a commemorative head-piece and t-shirt, tailored to suit your personality type. For those with multiple personalities, you can retake the test and collect them all!

The rest of Home Square has had a spooky makeover just in time for Halloween. Head over to the monument by the entrance to the Shopping Centre to find all of the ghoulish items from the last few weeks as well as some new additions which include:

• The Official Scre4m Movie Costume: enough to scare even the coldest of hearts!
