Where’s our PSNplay promotion Payday codes?

I’m going to spam every article you guys post until a definite date is given.

You were paid for the game months ago now give me my code or credit me £12.99 so I can buy it myself.

Ben Creasey 3 November, 2011 @ 3:37 pm   2

Hi pnov81

You can spam VidZone posts all you want, and we would love to be able to give you what you want. But we aren’t part of SCEE so we can’t demand anything i’m afraid.

I hope you get what you want though!

TrueMurton 3 November, 2011 @ 3:39 pm   3

@ pnov81 – this is a VidZone post, which is posted by the VidZone guys who are *not* in any way affiliated with SCEE. If Ben does any replies today he cannot answer your question because he doesn’t know.

Anyway – Ben hope you’re doing well, keep up the good work with VidZone, but I feel you guys are going too far for lowest common denominator. Not everyone likes the stuff played on Capital FM.

Any chances of getting some “proper” rock put on VidZone? I’d love to see Slipknot and Stone Sour make it on VidZone alongside many more rock and metal artists that are missing.

C’mon dude, make it happen, you know you want to.

    Ben Creasey 3 November, 2011 @ 5:13 pm

    Hey TrueMerton

Thanks for your comment. We try to feature all the content we have (there is a lot of it!) equally. Yes this does mean a lot of the more popular acts get focused on as most people do want these videos but I am sure you have seen some great other features you have liked on the service too.

The reason we don’t have some of the artists you mention is that we don’t yet have license with these labels. This means we aren’t allowed to use their videos. We are working on all our licensing deals but its tricky to get all rights for all our 18 territories.

If we did have all the music videos in the world, then we would certainly feature every video that our users wanted (including really niche ones) as we want there to be something for everyone.

Please don’t think we are just trying to appeal to the people that like the most popular artists, well we are, but we are also trying to keep everyone else happy too. We will strive to get more videos you want and feature them so you can find them easily in future.

Hope this explains just a little the way we work.

Ben explained that himself with his reply.

TrueMurton 3 November, 2011 @ 3:43 pm   5

Yeah, he was a little quicker at typing that I was.

CoolRichy008UK 3 November, 2011 @ 3:46 pm   6

Thanks to both of you anyway.

I didn’t realise that non SCEE employees posted on this blog, My bad.

What’s the PEIR PARK?

Catkiller1 3 November, 2011 @ 3:57 pm   9

@ pnov81

I think he means “PIER PARK”!

Should have posted it within the HOME section, as this is Vidzone & Ben can’t answer that!

What VidZone needs to do (in my opinion)
- Become affiliated with more devices (PC, Vita etc.) that can sync playlists.
- More tours, more variety of artists.
- Integrate so I can listen to stuff in game? (probably not possible)
- Premium downloads of Plus subscribers (wink wink)
- Album exclusive debuts
- A vidzone dynamic theme would be good
- Make it so there’s more time in a day!!

Thanks ;)

    Ben Creasey 3 November, 2011 @ 5:16 pm

    Hey KC-alpha-14

Good suggestions. A few there that we have heard before, a couple that we haven’t. We always try to take out users opinions into account (we actually do, we have a big list of things and rank them by how many times they are asked for!!) and then we use this and other things to work out what we need to change.

I will add it all to the list, if you want your friends to add anything then tell them as the more votes we get, the more likely it is to happen!!

When Poland?

Hey Ben this is my first post on a vidzone blog post and i just wanted to say that vidzone is great and all but i agree with truemurton! Can you please see about getting some more rock and metal onto vidzone! It would be beast! :D thanks!

    Ben Creasey 3 November, 2011 @ 5:17 pm

    Hi DANJOEL

agreed, we are trying like crazy to get you more metal. Licensing content is hard, but we are more than committed… we are willing to beg on bended knee!!

sully1311 3 November, 2011 @ 5:25 pm   13

If that’s the part of the new VidZone logo advertising on the app, then I love it already VZ!

maddogarchie64 3 November, 2011 @ 5:46 pm   14

i have to agree with comment 3 even with the reply, I can see your reasons, but if your finding it hard to get some rock or metal music on vidzone how come there is no problem with the more “popular” artists? Haven’t you got enough modern music on vidzone already? If your trying to appeal to everybody’s favourite genre do a few less of the pop songs and try to get some other stuff on as well.

yawn! please get some pink floyd , or the wall live 2011 vids ,so happy i’d be !!

    Ben Creasey 4 November, 2011 @ 12:43 pm

    Hi Deadrest

You would pick the hardest videos to get license for wouldn’t you ;) believe me we are trying, but those rights are very hard to come by!

maddogarchie64 3 November, 2011 @ 5:56 pm   16

I’ve still got to agree with comment 3 even with the reply, I see your reasons, but if it’s so hard to get rock or metal music on why isn’t it for “popular” songs? Haven’t you got enough “modern” songs on already? Just do a few less pop songs and get some rock or metal on, just because that genre is in a minority doesn’t mean it’s not still worth getting on vidzone. And don’t just reply with the same thing at least consider what I’ve said.

    Ben Creasey 4 November, 2011 @ 10:09 am

    Hi maddogarchie64
Ok, to explain a little more in depth. The reason we are missing some of the bigger rock acts is the fact that we are still in license negotiation with Warner Music. A major label that have many acts but do seem to have a few of the more important rock labels like Roadrunner. Warner Music have shyed away from streaming music video services in the past but we are confident we can get this content but it is taking a long time.
As for the smaller rock acts, this is as difficult as any other more niche music, 1000′d of labels in every country with different ownership rights. sometimes we have to license 18 labels just to get one video in all of our territories. This is fine and we are happy to do, but it does take a while to track them down and negotiate a deal.
Pop acts are easy to come by as we have very efficient feeds from all the other major labels. If they have rock acts we get these as efficiently and promote as much as we can (I’m sure you saw our sonisphere promotion and weeks of Nirvana features as well as others) but we can obviously only put videos live that we have license for.
I hope that answers your question

maddogarchie64 3 November, 2011 @ 5:58 pm   17

whoops sorry about double post

N-T-Krist 3 November, 2011 @ 8:19 pm   18

is there anyone here that has an idea about the status of the Payday vouchers for us that got suckered into the PLAY promotion.
& to think I mostly bought it to show support to Sony after a year of hardships. The thanks? Not gettin any word on any delays they’ve put the game through and when it finally arrives I’m left hanging with out my redemption voucher.
16 years of being a loyal customer owning more original games than anyone I know on all 3 platforms, never had a problem before this year, but this year it’s also just been pouring in for all the 15 gone before.

maddogarchie64 3 November, 2011 @ 8:22 pm   19

comment 18 I know exactly how you feel

Catkiller1 4 November, 2011 @ 10:01 am   20

The PAYDAY codes have been stolen & locked in a vault!

It’s now up to us, to find that vault & retrieve our codes :)

Will VidZone be available for PS Vita?
Hint hint ;)

TrueMurton 4 November, 2011 @ 12:49 pm   23

Cheers for the reply Ben, didn’t realise that some of my favourite bands fall under Warner, that explains quite a bit – for those who don’t remember or perhaps don’t follow these things, Warner Music were attempting to spearhead a full music industry lawsuit against YouTube for allowing fans to upload official music videos.

Would it be possible for Vidzone to come to an arrangement with Warner in similar fashion to YouTube by implementing some sort of purchase link? If memory serves the case against YouTube was dropped when they included links to Amazon and iTunes in their music videos, could VidZone do something similar and allow us to move seemlessly from VidZone to a download store? Perhaps if VidZone had something to offer Warner they’d be more open to the idea of streaming their content for free.

Sidenote: I remember the Sonisphere Promo – but considering that Sonisphere was all about The Big Four and attended by a bunch of RoadRunner bands you have to admit that you missing more than you actually had. Also Nirvana are lame :p

The The Gothic Rock playlist was interesting though, nothing really gothic in there really but it put me onto The 69 Eyes, cool band, thanks for that.

    Ben Creasey 4 November, 2011 @ 1:57 pm

    Hi True Merton

All the thing you read are true, and we are trying to come to some arrangement. Everything is possible but it takes time and costs money. We will never stop perusing all music videos, Don’t worry … We will get em all!!

i completely agree with the rock and metal. but if you do get the rock and metel don’t just go for the kids from today put some proper rock and metel aswel?

also and what about “universal” and “all around the world” and “EMI” material. i know you can do the first two cos you got darren styles and ultrabeat and flip and fill on there already and others that features on clubland. i’d love more dance music other than the typical stuff cos hip hop, r’n’b absolutely boring and now they’re murdering classic dance tunes. PLEASE get some more dance tunes either if its new, classic, unforgetful and nostalgic.

    Ben Creasey 7 November, 2011 @ 11:48 am

    Hi Asbo069

We have all 3 labels you mention and yes we are missing a few videos from some of these. AATW especially we are trying to get more videos from as they have a lot of the best dance music. We are having a few issues with the delivery of these videos, but we know its important so we we smooth these out and hopefully get all the videos you want.

I’m not a huge VidZone fan simply because the UI feels rather heavy and laggy to me. The TV channels on there can be awesome but generally browsing through videos and adding playlists etc. with all the ads inconveniently placed makes it a less favourable choice compared to just plugging my MP4 player into the tv via HDMI. The input lag can be really bad when the app is doing anything mildly demanding on the system. Is the PS3 not powerful enough to run VidZone perfectly smoothly???

sweet! it would be brilliant to see more material and earlier dance tracks on there as i’m a very big fan of AATW and the artists and compilations it provides such as clubland and back to the 90′s. and EMI has sex pistols and alot of the early prodigy stuff.
