We are currently elbow-deep in what I like to call the squarey-eyed season, where each week brings yet another sack of major games and there are more Trophies to collect than hours in the day. This week, we want you to tell us how you manage it all. Are you a one at a time kind of person, or a multitasker with lots of different games in your life at any given time? Have you ever pulled any sneaky tricks, like faking an illness to work or school, to steal a few more PS hours?
How do you manage your gaming schedule
The lovely people at Team 17 have kindly offered 15 voucher codes for Worms Crazy Golf and, as always, our independent judge will pick her favourite comments on Monday morning. The codes will then be sent via private message at http://community.eu.playstation.com.
Enjoy!

Simple. I’m studying Video Games Development in college so I just call game time “study”. It such grueling hard work but someones gotta do it.

I usually come home from college and dump my bag and jump on my ps3, I tend to stick to one game and try to finish my backlog so don’t buy much games at launch as I already have alot to finish.

I’m a disaster. I just start playing every single game that ends in my hands and try to carry on with 3 or 4 games at the same time. Sometimes the plots mix in my mind as three different cheeses in a fondue pot. I’m trying to become a normal guy and play one game at a time, but I can’t help myself when I see this shining little game boxes in the bookcase. Is it serious, Doc?

Depending on how much time I have, I play one or multiple or in many cases zero games at a time. I do want to finish my games, so I try not to start too many at a time. At times, there are so many games to play and so little time to play them, I just leave them unopened until I have more spare time.

I have a very young family, which obviously limits the time I get on my beloved PS3, but I do not resent it, it merely heightens my anticipation and makes the time I spend playing games on my PS3 that much more special.
I am very much a ‘one game at a time’ person. In this current climate I simply cannot afford to buy all the games that appeal to me on release day, so when I do manage get my hands on one I like to make sure I play it through and give it the time that it (and I) deserves. I always try to complete it as best as I can, get as many treasures, collectables, trophies etc as possible.
By the time I have completed the game, I feel that I have given it my all, and that I have experience virtually all it has to offer.
This also heightens my appeal too, which in turn makes me want the next game even more and so starts the carousel that is my gaming.

im so much better off now than i used to be at getting time to game, ever since my wife got a mac book she never complains if i want to game.
in the past when she did i used to stick the psp on and keep going so i was covered that way.
funny story but, i remember going to a midnight launch of gta 4, got home could not stop playing it so phoned in sick to work the next day. problem was i had been going on about this midnight launch for the full week because i knew i was getting the lockbox edition and was so chuffed.
so next day back in work everyone was giving me stick and telling me my line manager knew i was at the launch and that’s why i was not at work, so i was pretty worried.
lucky for me she never said anything to me about it and just did my back to work interview as normal.
next 12am launch i got to will be for vita and i will be making sure i have next few days off for it

Not enough days in the week!!

This is a bit tricky, with and all the working hours and coming home to the wife… But I manage to get at least 1hr/day. That’s why recently I prefer sports or casual games (NBA jam on fire and dead rising otR are the latest), so I can play a bit without sinking in the story.
On the weekends I have an awesome deal with my wife, Saturday is the day to be with friends, go out to some pub, spend time with the family, go to the movies, walks on the park, that kind of stuff…
Then Sunday comes, and I can have all day to me! This is when I get comfortable and play as much as I like, I end up playing 5 or 6 hrs and watching football, so its a very good day!

I have to do one at a time otherwise I feel guilty spending the money! But then its like a reward system….for example i’ve just completed Batman today so my reward is Uncharted 3. When i’ve done that, it will be Modern Warfare 3!

My gaming habits vary, at the moment I’m playing nothing but Uncharted 3, before that it was Arkham City, but previous to that it’s a bit of a wreck. I’ve got loads of games that I’ve half played, hardly played or have played over and over again. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve got RDR, GTA IV and InFamous 2 in my list of partially played games, and I do have every intention of finishing all the games I have, but I seem to always get sucked back into playing the Uncharted and Batman series, and casually attempting to pick up all the trophies.

It’s really hard being a gamer in these days, where there’s so many quality games releasing. Especially when you have a normal day life, at the same time.
.
But if there’s more than one great game coming out at the same time or close to each other, i’m just looking at reviews, game play videos and think a lot until i choose one of the games to buy. Then the other games must wait, until there’s a period with lesser great games coming out.
I always play and complete one game at a time. I wanna enjoy it, not feel like i’m stressed and it’s something i “has to do”. After all, this should be a relaxing hobby.
My fiance is the most important thing in my life and always my first priority and i would always rather spend time with her, than with my gaming console. She lives in a place about two hours away from my place, so we only see each other in the weekends and i wanna spend my precious time with her, when i’m able to.
So i very rarely (almost never) play at weekends. But i play as much as i can in the normal week days.

I nearly always stick with something until I’ve finished it, but recently I’ve slipped a bit, with quite a few games in a backlog to get through.
I have managed to create extra time to get through these though, as to get through the single player games, I’ve decided to only play multiplayer online with friends, and not go on the online modes by myself. It does mean I’m a lower level than my friends, but on the plus side I can fit in much more time for the backlog of single player games that have been mounting up – which I usually find more enjoyable, and I still get to have fun on multiplayer!

Any update on our PAYDAY codes?

I just asked and they’re being sent out this evening. They have to go through the system but you should have it by tomorrow at the absolute latest.

I like to stick to one story mode or story-heavy game at a time and play bits of multi-player and co-op whenever I feel like it or I’m invited to a session, after that I only go for trophies when I have nothing I’m too interested in playing at that time or if I really want to keep playing a game. This Winter’s full of great new games though, it’s going to be hard to find time for them!
I used to take plenty of time off to game, when I was in school and I had cancer I could always pretend I was far worse than I was and have the day off to play stuff like Tombi while all the other suckers were in class learning useless stuff like science and maths
So much of my youth was spent playing PlayStation, lol. But I learned much from my misspent school days and I wouldn’t take time off to play now unless it was the release day of something big, which means I’ll only be taking a few days off in the next couple months, starting with MW3 on Tuesday! A friend of mine took 10 days off for Battlefield 3 though… He’s almost level 40 now, I’m not sure whether he needs an intervention or not yet, we’ll see.

I don’t bite off more than I can chew. And since TV is boring these days most of my free time goes to playing games.
22
Posted on 4 November, 2011 at 4:34 pm by drillingcat
I tend to play a game right the way through before moving on to the next, collecting as many trophies as possible first time around.
As I’ve finished Batman Arkham City, so I’m right in time for Drake’s Uncharted 3! Woo!
Trouble is, MW3 is coming up on Tuesday too… oh no… square eyes and RSI here I come, lol!

I don’t have to worry about my gaming schedule; why? Because being the one man geek train that I am, anytime I can’t get to the TV I simply fall back on my lovely PSP with it’s collection of joyous minis/PS1 classics.
Ps3 may be awesome, but when’s the last time you rolled your katamari in the toilet, eh?

PLEASE READ
i dont know if you were ill again or just busy playing fifa12 at work but i would really appreciate an answer:
why have sony have not yet given out a simple security software to download that would render a console useless if the user were to hack their system for personal software enabling cheat codes that ruin online gameplay? (considering this breaks your T&C, dont you think its about time you got your act together?!!)

also to add to my fist comment with age (almost 30 the horror) i have became far more patient, i used to rush out and buy the new big title(or 2 depending on time of year) every month when i got paid and games would just sit collecting dust and by the time id get into them you could buy them for £10 to £20 less, so now i seem to be buying titles 6 months behind to save myself some money and the only backlogs i have is in my psn titles i have downloaded but i like jumping in and out of them anyway.(still trying to get my first trophy’s on megaman 10 why is that game so hard)
next game i buy is infamous 2

I remember taking a day off school to play final fantasy 10 as it was a major improvement in gaming. Gaming now is addictive. Soon as I wake up and have breakfast the ps3 is the first thing I switch on until I have to go work. I can play up to three games but as soon as one bores me I start doing something else like study but still 75% of my time is playing games

I don’t manage when I’ll play my games. If it’s a new game I’ll use all my (spare) time on completing that title, and after that it’s random what i play and how much time I use on it.
Gaming isn’t something you plan for, it’s something you do.

When a new game is released that I REALLY want to play (next being Skyrim), it’s not uncommon I take a few days off work and then just play nonstop during those days and the weekend and devote all my free time for it. Basically just sleep and gaming.
I never faked any illness or skipped school/work to play a game though, and I never will. At that point it stops being a hobby and starts being an obsession, and obsessions are never a good thing.

It all depends for me. I tend to have a few different games on the go, but on occasion (if the trophies are achievable targets – not daft online ones such as “kill 5000 people with a knife”) I will dedicate my gaming time purely to completion of one game. This, however, usually comes after I have already played the basic game to the end (I go back for trophies after just enjoying the main game).
I often find that I play games in bursts – going back and doing a bit more every week or so, and sometimes after a couple of months break. What game I play tends to depend on my mood anyway.
As for finding time to play…well, insomnia has one thing going for it! When your mind wont let you get any sleep, you may as well sit playing until 4am.

With work, a wife, 2 kids and some excellent television I have taken drastic steps to get some gaming in. I tried to have a the standard day extended by 3 hours but alas no joy. So as a last resort I have weaned. Myself off sleep. I can happily survive on 3 and a half hours a night when there’s the need. Eg 3 days solid of my no sleep regime helped me finish Deus Ex before Uncharted landed on my doorstep. Few early nights to recharge and BOOM, I’m back on the clock.

It aint easy in this house.
One TV and too many people that want to use it!
So, I only have one game at a time on the go and I will sneak in a little playstation time whenever the wife goes out for a little while.
If I get home from work forst, then I don’t get changed, I put on the PS3.
And then, when there is a big game out, I take a couple of days off of work and crack through it in my underpant when no-one else is in the house

I am a full-time student (and possible employee someplace very, very nice by the end of the month) so gaming isn’t a 24/7 habit (I wish it was!)
Organising my game schedule is as follows:
1) Don’t play too many games at one time – I try to limit myself to 2, or at a stretch, 3. That way I can remember the storyline, or be familiarised with the control scheme. Anything more is crazy.
2) I’ll try to reach certain sections before taking a break and then alternating between my games. Yesterday, for example, I was playing the cop sections on NFS Hot Pursuit and when I reached rank 18 I then switched over to Sam and Max. Variety is a good thing in gaming, too much of the same game can become rapidly monotonous for my liking.

Unless it’s a cutscene-heavy game, I play the PS3 on mute while I’m catching up on my TV through my laptop. There’s not enough hours in the day to work, have a social life, play games and watch TV so doubling up on these two saves tens of hours over the week. Of course the main benefit of this is not hearing Martin Tyler when playing FIFA.

I’m the kind of guy who gets guilty if I don’t donate a week at a time for each game i play, now i try to get 100% on DCUO ,RE5 GOLD & Hydrophiobia i get lots of Trophys with one of these games in a weeks time. By the end of this week, i get 100% on Hydrophiobia now i’m looking forward to get 100% on RE5. As for time i work only 6 hours of day i heve a loot of time to speend with my family/friends plaing on PS3

Well, if I’m aiming to get a platinum in a certain game, I play until it starts to feel tedious (or I start making stupid mistakes), then read a book and after a few hours – the hunt resumes!
But when there weren’t any good premieres, I play a mix of games. Usually a co-op title with my flatmates during the week (like Borderlands) and on the weekends I have enough free time to play singleplayer games.
47
Posted on 4 November, 2011 at 5:44 pm by KiK_Khundre
I choose quality over quantity when choosing what games to play and that usually gives me plenty of time to play the best games, any that I miss I can usually get back to during the summer months when not so many games are being released.
Although there are some that take up more time than others, especially when there’s DLC added that seems to draw my attention back to older games and trophies that are just begging to be unlocked.
Basically I just need to avoid games that take many many hours to complete … easy! (Hmm? What do you mean Skyrim is released soon? … uh oh!)

i don’t schedule them actually but when i get the feeling too play some games then i go play some games. but i take regular breaks about 13-20 min every two hours. but most of the time i don’t even play two hours, i most times only play about 1 hour then i quit then i come back in an hour.
but i´m addicted too uncharted 3 and just can’t stop playing him he is soo good, the graphics and everything and don’t get me started on the hand to hand combat system(it’s awesome)
