If you like great platformers (and we know you do – remember Rayman on the PSone?!), we at Ubisoft Montpellier prepared a little surprise for you – a demo for THE platformer of the year, of the decade, of the century, of the universe and beyond (yeah we’re a little excited): Rayman Origins. And even greater: it’s available today PSN!
In this demo, you will be able to play 3 of the 60+ levels created for the game, each in a different one of the 6 totally different environments of Rayman Origins. There are so many great things in the game that it was quite hard to choose which levels to put in the demo, but this should give you a glimpse of what you can expect from the game. You’ll find incredibly fun old-school 2D side-scrolling platforming adventures, gorgeous hand-drawn art in full HD (1080p, exclusively for the PlayStation3!) running at 60 fps, and, last but not least, you can play in crazy 4 players co-op.
Of course Rayman Origins can still be played alone, but the game and this demo are also fully playable in jump-in jump-out anytime 4 players co-op. Anyone can join whenever they want, give a few slaps, and leave without even having to pause the game! Well, that’s assuming they’d want to leave, which is pretty unlikely… but I guess sometimes nature calls.
Also, because we know you guys are skilled gamers, don’t be fooled by the bright and happy appearance: the game is not easy, in fact it’s pretty damn challenging if you want to complete it (and I assume some of you like platinum, don’t you?
. Of course beginners are welcome in co-op, but you’ll definitely need talent to see the end of the 20+ hours of gameplay the game has to offer!
The countdown is on! We’re really excited to deliver this game 2 weeks from now on November 24th – save the date! But we’re not the only ones who are excited – the first reviews of the game call it (and I’m quoting) “a Platforming Masterpiece” and “Living, Breathing, Perfection”. Wait, it gets better! The Official PlayStation Magazine gave a 9/10 score + gold award to the game!
But enough reading, it’s time to play the game and decide for yourself! Download it when PlayStation Store updates later today and we really hope you’ll have as much fun with the game as we had making it!!
Oh, and one last thing you might not know: the game is also coming to the PS Vita for the European release, and I can tell you it looks amazing, so stay tuned!
More info on the game on our official Facebook page – thanks for reading and enjoy the demo!

Are these going to be the same levels as the Eurogamer demo?
Absolutely love this game. Can’t wait for the release
Posted on 9 November, 2011 at 12:12 pm by Louis Gambini
Nope they’re different: one jungle world level, one food world level and one ocean world level

Loved Rayman ever since the Jaguar version..
Looking forward to see how it plays, but I wonder if I’ll have to buy a PS3 and a Vita version, or will there be some sort of nice bundle around Vita launch time ?
Posted on 9 November, 2011 at 1:17 pm by Louis Gambini
Well it’s really too early to know if there will be a Vita bundle, but if the games sells well and/or if you harass our Playstation friends enough, who knows!

“Oh, and one last thing you might not know: the game is also coming to the PS Vita for the European release”
this keeps poping up 2 version of each game MGS-HD, FF10, now this on PS3 & vita.
& no-one ask the question so i will.
are games This Rayman & others MGS-HD & FF10 Link to PS3 & vita?
meaning 1 copy play on Ps3 & vita or 2 versions 1 of each?
that be odd as they play just the same. but i think it be the latter 2 version cost 80 quid + 80 quid for a sony memory card.
lastly i like rayman so a day 1 buy & since vita is out next year & this out november 25th it indeed the latter.
oh dear.

as this is also slated for vita will this version work on both ps3 and vita(like ps1 games do on psp) when it launches or will the vita require an additional copy to be bought?
id just like to know as if it wont ill just wait and buy the vita one as it looks like the kind of game that will look amazing on the vita screen.

sorry im assuming this is a psn download and not a retail title but is that even the case?
Posted on 9 November, 2011 at 1:22 pm by Louis Gambini
No it’s not – it was announced as a PSN title two years ago, but seeing the enthusiasm after E3 2010 and the criticism against the fact it wouldn’t be retail, the game scope (and therefore the dev team) were multiplied by more than 10 to make it a full retail title.
Which also answers your other question: the PS3 version won’t be playable on Vita. However even if it does look amazing on Vita – it looks just incredible on a big living room screen too!

Of course you can! Actually, it’s a lot of fun to try and get everything by ourself, you need to be a bit more clever to find how to access some collectibles!

thanks for the reply, as im guessing you guys will add mini games ect to the vita version i might just get that one however as im a bit of a trophy addict i might get both as they will have separate trophy lists and the ps3 version might be better for multi player.

The demo’s amazing, I went from mildly interested to day-one buy thanks to it. Might buy the PSVita version too to show my support for great platformers.
A good PSVita version of Rayman 2 would be right up my street too. Based on the Dreamcast version with simple map screen, not the PS2 Rayman Revolution fluff hub levels that made it boring traveling to replay levels, but all of the extra mini-games included. Maybe a reworked camera and a few other tweaks so it doesn’t show its age so much. 60fps with 4xMSAA of course.

I didn’t like the checkpoints at all. You are set back WAY too much for a fun game like this.
Which is supposed to be fun and not frustrate you!

I hope this does well, and that Sega take note and decide to invest some proper time and money in creating a 2D Sonic game, that doesn’t cop out by including 3D “am I actually controlling this character” gameplay.

I absolutely love the artstyle of this one.. Haven’t tried the demo yet but it looks amazing.. We need more games with graphics like these, there is almost no color in games nowadays..

And please tell me there’s online co op? If not, co op borders on being useless, as you can only play it when there’s a friend next to you..
