Greetings all, hopefully you’ve been getting to spend some quality time with Uncharted 3 these past few weeks. We are grateful for all the positive fan feedback and thank you for the support.
I’m not here today to talk about U3 though. We’ve been getting many, many requests asking when Jak and Daxter will be coming to PS3, and I’m happy to announce that they will be making their PS3 debut this February with the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection.
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
The Jak and Daxter Collection features three of our favorite Jak and Daxter titles- Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II and Jak 3 – all remastered by Mass Media, working closely with our team at Naughty Dog. With the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection, you’ll be able to experience the adventures of Jak and his Daxter in 720p High Definition with crisper visuals, smoother gameplay animation and in full stereoscopic 3D. And, I’m sure all of you hardcore collectors will be happy to hear that each game in the trilogy features full PS3 trophy support.

Jak II
The Jak and Daxter franchise set a benchmark for the platformer genre with its huge environments and gaming freedom. In fact, it holds 7 world records in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2008 including the First Seamless 3D World in a Console Game. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of love for the franchise here at Naughty Dog, and it has a very special place in our hearts. If you can believe it, the Jak and Daxter franchise will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year on December 4th and we’ll be checking in with you via the PlayStation.Blog to help us celebrate. I’m shaking jak3 is my overall favourite game out of every game I’ve played (and that’s ALOT) will this be available only in ps store or on discs please reply I didn’t want jak and daxter to die out like crash bandicoot but the second I saw this post I froze and screamed

All we need now is for Insomniac to release a Ratchet And Clank Collection, Then that pretty much sums up every great ps2 game remastered in HD

Buying this cos as much as I love Naughty Dog for Uncharted, I’ve not had much chance to play Jak & Daxter.
Now we need the PS2 Ratchet & Clank games in a PS3 pack to go along with this and Sly Cooper to have all the quality PS2 era platformers in HD.

It´s amazing to see these low resolution textures and how the hire resolusion isn´t doing anything for them.
It was a wise desision from Sony to kill backwards compatebility so we now have to buy the games again.

One of the few games I ever took back was one of the Jak games due to the awful controls. PLEASE let us inverse the horizontal axis controls… I HATE it when you press “left” and the camera spins around to the right. Game-breaking for me, that. When I press left I want to ruddy well look left, not spin the camera clockwise, ARGH!
It also nearly killed Beyond Good & Evil for me back in the day but you could invert it there, however doing that also inverted the vertical axis… I forced myself to play the whole thing without looking up or down. Simple control config options could have saved me SO much trouble.
PLEASE tweak the controls for these games so I can LOOK LEFT using left, and when I push UP I want to look down, for the record, as if the controller is my head, not as if the controller is moving a point on the screen. Bad controls RUIN GREAT GAMES!

All these HD remakes are fine (very easy money for the studios though but we’ll save that for another day) but WHY not just make a whole new game?? Lack of ideas or is the industry going for the ‘quick buck’ option with all these HD remakes??
I for one would much prefer a brand new title in the series not just sparkly rerubs of ‘classics’… Are devs are getting lazy?? Discuss..

this is fantastic news!! i remember being very very ill one christmas and playing Jak2 got me through it. And Bob Rafei’s concept art for these 3 games are among my favourite for any game! Amazing, love his style. Can’t wait for this now:)

I love the first part of the last boss of Jak 3, driving through the desert trying to shoot down the walking Dark Maker ship. The funniest moment of the series is in Jak II in Krew’s bar when Daxter gets drunk behind the bar.

JAK 1 was epic, JAK 2 was epic, i never played JAK 3 when i was a kid though
BUT I WILL IN FEBRUARY! at last ND has announced this!-next year (4th november 2012) INSOMNIAC might announce a RATCHET & CLANK COLLECTOIN hopefully, i hav always loved ALL R&C games all my life like JAK & DAXTER. all we need now is R&C HD COLLECTOIN & all 3 mascots will be in HD (SLY, JAK & RATCHET)
