Introducing Unit 13: Deploying On PlayStation Vita

Countries: , , , ,

On behalf of the entire team at Zipper Interactive, I am proud to announce a new shooter, Unit 13, designed from the ground up for the new PlayStation Vita. It’s been very exciting developing a game for the first portable console with precision dual analog sticks, the perfect platform for a fast action, hard-hitting, third person shooter like Unit 13. In addition, Vita’s front and back touch interface provided a unique and fun way to interact quickly with in-the-world elements of the game.

MtBase_003

Fast action, on-the-go gameplay was a key goal for the Unit 13 team. The game is designed for players to move quickly into the action, choosing from one of six Operatives with unique abilities to tackle 36 action-packed missions across nine unique locales. Missions come in a variety of sizes and difficulty. Some are smaller bite-sized battles; others are longer, more challenging, multi-objective missions that are a good test for any skilled shooter fan. As you make your way through the variety of missions, you unlock the right to take on the tougher High Value Target (HVT) enemy battles. After completing an HVT mission, you can share them with friends and nearby players through PlayStation Vita’s “NEAR” feature.

The Zipper team put considerable effort into leveraging Vita’s WIFI and 3G functionality to provide exceptional social gaming and competition with friends and opponents from around the world. Unit 13′s live notification interface, enabled through 3G, keeps players up to date on leaderboard positions, new “Daily Challenge” content, new unlocks, shared High Value Target missions, and challenges from friends as they move past you on the leaderboards.

In Coop, you can play Unit 13 with a friend all with high quality voice chat enabled through the PlayStation Vita. Coop teams compete for top positions on the global, regional, and friend mission leaderboards.

We’re super excited for all of you to give Unit 13 a try. We believe it’s the perfect portable shooter on the best portable gaming platform, the PlayStation Vita. And it’s available right around Vita launch!

See you in the leaderboards!

Introducing: MotorStorm RC For PSN And PSVita

Countries: , , , ,

I’m delighted to be able to announce – and show a trailer for – MotorStorm RC, Evolution Studios‘ upcoming radio controlled off-road racing game for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Network. It was also announced literally moments ago, on stage at a PS Vita event in London – so it’s hot off the press!

I’m Paul Rustchynsky, and I’ve been Game Director to a small, elite team at Evolution Studios for most of the year, creating a simulation of high-speed radio-controlled car racing for PSN download. We’re extremely pleased with how the game is coming together; it’s a perfect combination of classic racing with really modern connectivity features and it’s already bigger than your average download game, with visually stunning renditions of all four MotorStorm worlds (and 8 of their vehicle classes). Every aspect of the game comes loaded with endless competition that you can share with friends and rivals worldwide – whether that’s on PS3 or PS Vita, or both – and we’re still packing it full of challenges, race types and features too!

Everyone who has played MotorStorm RC so far says it really gets you hooked, with an addictive, hypnotic core experience – just like the best arcade games. Also like the best arcade games, stages take just moments to load, giving it that ‘just one more go’ quality, especially when you can play at home on PS3 and then continue your progress on the go with PS Vita.

And it’s still early days! We’ve got a lot more lined up and we’ll share all of it with you as the game comes together, but for now please check out our trailer and some of the killer features in MotorStorm RC!

Countries: , , , ,

Hi-NRG

What’s up? Anything been happening in the last few weeks? It’s been getting a lot busier here at @SingStarHQ in the run-up to the festive season but we don’t mind that at all. Once you see what’s in the 14th December update and we see your little faces light up with excitement, that’s what makes it all worth it!

Anyway, it’s not time for that yet (three more weeks sleeps) so let’s get on with the penultimate update of 2011.

Included this week, a brand new single from the very popular Coldplay called ‘Paradise’, some more Spice Girls which some of you have been waiting for plus the massive ‘Insane In The Brain’ by ‘Cypress Hill’. Yo! The exclusive and brand spanking new Hi-NRG SongPack got a few people in the office quite excited to say the least and I hope you’ll feel the same way. Five NRG-packed tracks to jump around to by the queens of the genre including Sinitta, Sam Fox and Hazell Dean.

For those of you into DanceStar Party, we released ‘Mix 3′ on the PlayStation Store last week, containing four more tracks to get your dancing shoes out for. Check out what’s available for download right here.

Also, lots more exciting stuff to come your way on the SingStar front soon so watch this space for more info.

See ya,
Nina xx
