Festive greetings, everybody in SingStar/DanceStar Party land!
Not sure where this year has gone but here we are with the last SingStore update of 2011. Don’t be sad though, because we’ll be back with more in January and there MIGHT even be a special surprise release for you before the year is out.
I’ll have another word with the big bearded man in the red and white coat. Keep your eyes and ears peeled, my friends! (Hint: Following us on @SingStarHQ is probably your best bet)
On to the update. As you can see below we only have one real Christmas song for you this year thanks to Coldplay but I am hoping that the seven Song Packs more than make up for that. Five of them are brand-spanking new and exclusive, and we put together two Essentials packs just for you, showcasing the best in the SingStore with ’80s Part 3′ and ‘The Best Of The Noughties,’ so you don’t have to go looking for it.
We’ve got new Elton John, Billy Idol, Take That 3 and Def Leppard Song Packs plus ‘Mosh It Up!’, a compilation of tracks you’ll love if you like it a bit heavier. Please be careful with the furniture when moshing inside. We don’t want injured SingStar players on our conscience!
Other songs in the update include great tracks by Bob Dylan, some more Spice Girls and the amaaazing ‘Black Velvet’ by Alannah Myles.
Also released this week on the PlayStation store are DanceStar Party Mixes 4 & 5. Yep, that’s eight more tracks for you to download. Just making sure your party doesn’t have to stop this festive season. Enjoy.

Now see that is a great update. Def Leppard, Billy Idol, Elton John and Tony Bennett. Actual chart toppers in the states. I’d bet this update will bring in the most money all year. See updates like this with US hits would make this a profitable division.

Lots of 80′s and 90′s but it’s missing songs from the 00′s. I won’t complain cause there’s Spice Girls and Elton John. So happy to sing it. I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and an outstanding 2012. See you next year

Are the elton john songs also sold individual. I already have i’m still standing.

Nope, Elton John songs are all exclusively available in the song pack until Februray so you can wait or get the song pack now.

I think you’ve made the Take That fans happy (i’m not one), but disappointed all of us who were hoping to have “Last Christmas” by Wham.
I was also hoping the individual tracks from last update’s Hi-NRG pack would be available too!
But, it’s a good assortment of tracks. Hopefully something for everyone. Can’t wait to see what you’ve selected for DanceStar.
Any hints on when the discounted Party Tracks will be available?

If any Mod is reading this, PLEASE can you get an engineer to fix the trophy update. Using my 50meg fibre optic hook-up, it still hadn’t updated after 75mins. This has been a regular issue ever since the servers were moved. We shouldn’t but suffering these issues in 2011.

Great Update with Def Leppard, Nacha Pop and the other songs. For sure we’ll be singing them this weekend and over the holidays. Also, we’re exited about Dancestar mix 4 & 5. We’ll be checking twitter to see what else is coming for you guys. Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

Is there any chance of “The Beatles Singstar”, or atleast a few tracks released in the store? (Help, Ticket to Ride, and so on…)
Other than that The Never Ending Story by Limahl and Shiny Happy people by R.E.M. would be lovely.

Hey singstar people, I have bought songs from you guys on my first ps3 and i recently had a party but when i went to re-download the songs iv’e bought it told me that i wasn’t able to on my system. Can you help iv’e lost access to nearly 20+ songs and dont know how i can get them back.

Hey. You need to call customer services and they will have to transfer your songs to your new PS3 for you. Then you can redownload them again.

Would it be at all possible to add the real version of 99 Luftballons? (the original German version, as opposed to the rather lame English translation)?
Also, I’d love to have seen Rebel Yell included in the Billy Idol pack. Other than that, cool stuff!

The original 99 Luftballons is already on the store. Press L2 when in ‘all songs’ in the store and select languages ‘all’ and you should be able to find it.

Song packs are a great idea but annoy me when I already have songs in them as I own over 140 songs now I cant always remember what I own and the store isn’t very helpful when it comes to packs. Can’t you do something about that like if you go to buy a pack bring up a warning telling me I already own a song in that pack? Or even better let me upgrade to a pack from songs I own for a small price e.g. pay the difference to maybe entice me to buy the rest of the songs? This is the only problem I have ever had with the singstore.
Also when it comes to dancestar are you ever going to release single tracks? Packs are great but its always the case where you only like a couple of the songs and being forced to buy all 5 is a bit of a ripoff and must hurt sales. I havn’t bought one and refuse to. You can check my buys on singstore. Like I said I bought well over 100 songs for singstar and would buy dancestar songs if I could choose individual ones or even build my own pack at the very least.

Well, it was hinted we’d get something special before Christmas.
Special, this is not. We’ve been asking for some decent Christmas songs every year since it came out… “Last Christmas” would indeed have been amazing, and how about Fairytale of New York for a Christmas duet? These would have made Christmas SingStar parties SO much more special. But no, we get ruddy Coldplay. And the song packs have nothing for me.
What a disappointment.

I’m surprised they couldn’t get Wham’s “Last Christmas”, especially since so many of us asked for it on the Facebook page and there was a Wham track on the Back To The 80s disc as well.
I wouldn’t call the update a disappointment at all. It really has something for everyone in it.
Of course i’d love to have songs from my favourite band (Bad Religion) or even songs from PS2 discs like Soul Asylum’s “Runaway Train” and Die Toten Hosen’s “Pushed Again”, but here’s hoping we get more of the hits and brand new songs in 2012!

Im really hoping that the will be a xmas pack in with the surprise i mean coldplay is hardly a xmas classic and frankly bores me stiff. So please please lets have a great xmas pack to buy so we can all get festive! White xmas, Santas coming to town etc etc! Please!!!
Other than that, great update and im sure i will buy all or most on this one.
I hope Singstar really gets a major kickstart for 2012 because i feel as if the franchise is being left behind now. I asked ages ago for Michael Jackson and i understand the Experience got the tracks but now surely there is enough MJ tracks to go around and get that Singstar Michael Jackson lots have been waiting for.

Not for me there isn’t. And nobody I know would want any of those songs. Therefore, there is not “something for everyone”.
In conclusion: disappointing update. If SingStar was a multi-platform game made by a company like EA, be sure they’d have proper classics like Last Christmas coming out for this time of year. It seems that Sony don’t have the inclination, the budget or the talent to truly push SingStar. It’s a great game, sure, but it lives or dies on the songs available, and the song choices have been APPALLING for a long time now. The community is ignored, the songs we really would like never appear, and even though the team have had YEARS to get stuff like Last Christmas all they come up with is the monotonous, soulless twaddle that is Coldplay. So disappointing. If I was Sony I’d pass on the duties to someone with more clout and respect for the audience.

Nina, why didnt you tell us that the best Song pack of 2011 was out? The Adele song pack! Well, at least I bought it now. Thx 4 this update, it was one of the best of the year
