I also met up with a few of our top execs and Japan Studio developers (including the minds behind Everybody’s Golf and Gravity Daze) so look our for interviews between now and the European launch on 22 February.

@ scottsymons1985 & Demonicspawn
You both have valid points there & it made for an interesting read indeed!
What I will say is, I have been with SONY for the PS1, PS2 & PS3. Will I be there for PS4…….thanks but no thanks!
I’m going to jump ship & purchase the next Gen XBOX. The reason: SONY may make great first party titles, but the damage has been done with regards to the respect, that us loyal customers deserve. Customer services are some of the worst i’ve had the misfortune to deal with. Don’t get me started on moderations to this Blog. Swear words should be moderated automatically, aggressive & abusive behaviour towards others, should get a warning, then a ban! If it persists after the ban, then a permanent ban!
It feels to me that SONY have given up & think that this new VITA (Overpriced) will help them to redeem themselves.

PS2 downloads…..REALLY? Talk about money grabbing! We should have had emulation by now, which was mentioned a few years ago! I understand that you can pick up a PS2 for £40 nowadays, but why should I?
SONY are lucky that the exclusive titles are fantastic, otherwise I would have left a very long time ago
Too many digital titles on my hard drive, too many friends that I game with & too many Blu Ray movies (granted you can purchase a seperate Blu Ray player quite cheap now).

Also before anyone starts, please read my posts & take in & grasp what i’m trying to say. Especially you young teenage fanboys! I’m a gamer at heart & i’ll always try something new, if it feels worthwhile!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my PS3, but there have been far too many problems.
After all gaming is meant to be fun…..no?

I’m older then sonic & mario & most of you lot, I’m been beating the drum about lack of Content in SCEE EU region.
i been quick read what vice president said about Vita it will apply to Ps4 when/if announce next year.
it needs this to work for both of them not like with the Ps3 it need to be [able to cross region] but sadly what i been reading it won’t be as you had factory set your vita again to change account, as for Ps4 no idea if this is the case too.
will i jump ship to next gen junkbox maybe not i may give up gaming all together, but deep down in my heart i bet i buy a Ps4 as i read rumours ps4 backwards with Ps3 & i have invest alot of money to buy games it be very foolish to lose them.

@Catkiller1
The PS2 emulation was removed from existing PS3′s due to a legal issue. Basically Sony didn’t own the emulation software, it was a licensed tool. When some moronic executive thought paying the license fees was pointless because “who’s gonna want to play last gen PS2 games on a next gen machine”, they stopped paying for it and removed the software from all further PS3′s.
Then when Sony saw the HUGE public demand for PS2 games released via PSN, and the massive success of original XBOX games over XBLA…they realized they had royally *ahem* messed up!
Why didn’t Sony create their own PS2 emulation? Legally they weren’t allowed. The proprietors of the original emulation threatened to take Sony to court (of which they would’ve won) for breach of contract, so Sony began pushing “Playstation 1 Classics” (what a joke) instead.
Hopefully the moron who had the original idea of removing PS2 emulation is jobless. Actually, I think it was Phil Harrison…so yes, he is jobless (after Atari “asked him to leave”). I knew Phil from my early career at Psygnosis, so it does sound like something he’d do.

I don’t buy that at all phil maybe involved in the emulation but more then him to make it work, also he work for sony & those ps2/ps1 are sony trade marks on they machines.
when phil left sony he has no say over sony if that was the case why we still got Ps1 emulation still.
speaking of ps2 emulation i’m wondering will we get any Ps2 titles today & arc the lad too.
Last store update of the year.

@ Scuffy_P
Hmmmmmm interesting!
Thanks for the info
I thought they removed the PS2 capability (Emotion Engine Chip) from the newer models after the 60gb version, due to overheating issues resulting in the YLOD! It happened to mine & the PS3s fan was louder once a PS2 game was launched. My PS3 was very hot within an hour of gaming!
Also as you worked for Psygnosis, if you have any contacts, please get them to release some classics
(Flink, Wiz’N'Liz, Benefactor, Shadow of the Beast, Walker) To name a few
It’s intersting to read that maybe it was an excuse, if it was a legal battle. That being all said though, the chip was a major problem & even if there wasn’t a legal problem, the chip would have either been removed anyway or enhanced.
Thanks again for the info.

I’m losing interest in gaming, I’m 32 now an have been playing games since as long as I can remember. but lately games that released just dont get me excited? there just so run of the mill, much of a likeness ,with the exception of the call of duty modern warfare and the batman arkham asylum an city games, everything else seem just to be a safe bet for games developers. how about something original for once? or if not that how about a really good rts that PlayStation has seemed to turn there back on , why ? because there’s no profit being its a small minority of gamers that like rts.
