Hello Gran Turismo fans,
Firstly I would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a belated Happy New Year.
I hope you had opportunity to check out the December festive gift that was Functionality Update 2.02 with its host of new features and perhaps also the new cars of DLC Pack 2.
The great news I want to share with you today is that for GT fans the new year starts much like the old one closed – with brand new DLC. I can confirm today that there is another DLC pack winging it’s way to PlayStation Store very soon, 18th January to be exact.
This new pack has two components. Firstly there is a brand new car pack brim-full of some rather lovely looking vehicles which include;
- Lamborghini Aventador
- Jaguar XJR9
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2011
- VW 1200 1966
- Mini Countryman S 2011
- Nissan Leaf
The pack will be priced at €5.99/£4.79 or local currency equivalent.
The second component of the new content is the Speed Test Pack. Featuring an oval track and a performance measurement mode, I’m sure it may become the location of many hours of fine tuning and tweaking of the hard earned motors that make up your virtual garages.
The Speed Test Pack will be priced at €3.99/£3.19 or again at local currency equivalents.
Launching alongside this brand new DLC pack will be Functionality Update 2.03 which will bring with it even more brand new features and functionality, to yet further enhance your Gran Turismo experience.
If you are looking for a way to fight those January blues then this brand new content could well be just the ticket.
More details on the new DLC and update will be available shortly on gran-turismo.com and also PlayStation Blog so keep your eyes peeled for more information.

The Speed Test Pack should have been in the original product. But I´ve build my own simpel loop track so no need to buy it.
I was hoping for a more exiting track, it´s what the longlivety of the product would help, extra cars not so much.

Still nothing about unlimited paint chips or a paint chip store?
Why?

Any chance to see a “season pass” with all the additional contents, Penrose?

I was excited when GT5 DLC was first announced but the cars are just different colors or models of cars already in the game and they are cars I wouldn’t use anyway and the tracks are only arcade which in all honesty is a game mode people only play when they have friends over. So I see no point in buying any more DLC and 6 euros for 6 cars is a rip off too. I thought turn 10 were ripping people off but this takes the biscuit

Penrose can you pass this back to Polyphony please.
Can we have a patch that allows multiple purchases in the Second -hand dealership. The 1000 cars trophy is a right pain, when you need to buy 700 cars to get it.
Buy car – go through presentation animation- back to main screen – re-enter dealership – repeat etc
Any chance of an option to select multiple cars and then check out once?
Thanks
ps either the above or a 700 cars pack DLC

@x201 thats an epic idea that i’d love to see them implement too. It does get tedious buying a car going through animations and menus to them buy another one.
Also keep the dlc coming, i’m pretty sure the cars featured in the dlcs have been brand netw to GT5 and not just coloured and rehashed.
I’d like to see more social network features intergrated into GT5 as my ingame message board is barren even though people on my psn list know i have the game so some outside social intergration would be pretty cool

Awesome DLC! Roll on 18 Jan. We got the Lamborghini Aventador after requesting for so long, so we should now all request the Audi R18 TDI and new Peugeot 908.

do you get the cars when you buy it or just unlock the ability to buy it?? thanks

Posted on 12 January, 2012 at 5:12 pm by X201
@Titchy_Penguin
You get the cars but it’s a two stage process
Buy the DLC, then go to the DLC section* of GT5 and install it.
*The GT5 DLC section is the big red down arrow on the front screen.

This DLC are more expensive that the first one ? Why !
DLC 1 8€ 15 race cars, 4€ Spa, Spa Weather, Kart Space with 4 layouts. The complete pack offered additional paints and suits for the same price.
DLC 2 4€ 4 cars (twice more expansive)
DLC 3 6€ 6 cars (twice more expensive), 3€99 a track, just a giant Superspeedway (5-6 times more expensive just for testing the cars)

The Speed Test Pack, this option was free un the first Gran Turismo (for PSX). I dont understand why they have to charge for it on a newer version…

I think that the great problem are flags in online profiles. Europe is very complicated on the national issues, for example: German don’t like English (same way back) , Austrian don’t like Slovenian,German don’t like Austrian and so on….
I experienced many times to be kicked out when entering the room. I have very good internet connection and I am very fair driver. During the GT4 and GT Prologue I had more satisfaction driving online than today. Sometimes it lasts even an hour to find a room where they drive correct and where is no issue where are you coming from. My question is: when are you planing new update, where there will be an option to choose between a flag or some other picture in avatar?
Kind regards
Milmar71

Seen them a day or two ago, will buy for the VW
premium XJR9 and get the track.
Penrose,is the NSX concept out soon, the vid makes it look insane. Also, can you put forward a request.GT5p,ingame manual, page 11 had a list of tyres that represented “real world grip” Any chance this can be added in the future?
Posted on 12 January, 2012 at 5:52 pm by Penrose Tackie
Hello again vonhammer
we can’t confirm either request at this moment but many thanks for your feedback nonetheless and I hope you enjoy this pack!

Any chance of some upcoming DLC with new A-spec events? I would really like a whole bunch of events with more specific tuning requirements so they offer a decent challenge, like the one-make races from previous GT’s

“realThe Speed Test Pack, this option was free un the first Gran Turismo (for PSX). I dont understand why they have to charge for it on a newer version…”
I’d guess it’s because a bulk of the asset creation was done after GT5 was launched. If they’d finished it before GT5 launched,it would of been ready for everyone.

also, with all the DLC and all the seasonal events, PD should create new trophies for us.

Hi again,
Firstly I’m a big GT fan so don’t take this comment the wrong way ……. No more cars ….. There are well over a 1000 available of which only 20-30 are ever driven so why spend the developers time and effort producing new ones…. Why!!!
We need tracks to race them on the game is very close to becoming stale and boring. Maybe the nooobs to the game may feel excited by a new lambo but really paying for another …. Na
Please listen to the real players that have invested hours and hours on the game already and know what will keep GT5 at the top.
Tracks please …. Tracks.

I think there are 2 possible reasons why the car pack in particular is s quite expensive, compared to the 1st car pack:
1) They have actually had to physically model new cars, not just add a livery to an existing one
2) PD/Sony have seen how well the DLC is selling, and are taking advantage of that fact.
Don’t get me wrong, i’ll buy it whatever but still, bit pricey for people who live in Wales.

Someone go on there PS3 go on google and type anything in you want like gt5 add-on and press search.
(I have all the GT5 add-on and will get this one if I don`t push Bob out the window.)

@ DAYDANNY666
Google search isn’t working, get the memory warning. You can try and beat it if you cancel at the correct time you get the warning but the page stays. But PS3′s browser needs an overhaul.

I like the idea of the VW Beetle having the premium treatment because it gives me great hope that the Mini Cooper 1.3L ’98 will get the same or at least another model of the Mini like the Morris Mini Cooper S with the option for RM and of course, standard.

Awesome update. Saw this a couple of days ago on gtplanet, couldn’t believe we were getting the new Lamborghini! I don’t understand it when people say we already have too many cars to use!? Between photo mode, seasonal events, drift trials, time trials and online races, there’s a use for almost all cars. Its not the games fault if you play it safe and don’t mix it up! I really hope PD keep this up, nice variety in the cars available, glad there’s no GTRs in this one (the leaf is included because its Japans car of the year)
Wednesday can’t come soon enough!

Also forgot to mention the possibility of new tracks. I seem to remember the description for the XL edition mentioning 4 new tracks. We have/ will have the first three by next week, really hope the fourth one is either one of the tracks from GT4 which isn’t in GT5, or somewhere like Silverstone. I’d really like a new F1 seasonal event with tracks like Silverstone, Spa, Monza and Monaco.

Why do we in the UK have to pay $7.35 (£4.79) for the same pack the Americans are paying $5.99 (£3.90) for????
Sony give us the option to pay in Dollars and it will be much cheaper for us and for you too it seems.
Ok we are doing better than if we paid in Euros but thats a staggering % difference between pound and dollar. It’s not fair. I’m not being cheap either I would not mind if our price stayed the same and you put up the price of the American pack to $7.35. That way you get more money for developing GT6.

Shame on you Sony/Polyphony, I’m not buying any of this because of the blatant copy/paste of currency instead of trying to at least make it about the same price for everyone. €5.99 = $7.68 which means an increase of 28% in price for Europeans (just under 23% for UK). That’s just not acceptable, you should take example from Lexis Numérique who tried very hard to make Amy about the same price worldwide and even between PSN/XBL. €3.89 would have been exactly right, though this world seems to be incapable of using .89 so you’d go with €3.99 to ‘make it look right’. Getting really fed up with EU Store prices being a third more almost all the time.

As an AUSSIE, how about showing the world what a great world track BATHURST in AUSTRALIA is.MOUNT PANARAMA CIRCUIT. A DLC with this track i would be paying for. The elevation changes (174m, 540ft) with the blind corners and long straights make it a no brainer. 6.213km or 4 miles long. Please PENROSE atleast have a look at this great track. Cheers.
