‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 25th January 2012

Update: In response to popular demand we can now confirm that the next PlayStation Plus content update will be on 1 February and not 8 February as we previously reported. Look out for a full update of what’s included on Tuesday.

Hello again, happy people!

This is a fairly quiet week in terms of new games but hopefully some of you will snap up a new batch of avatars ranging from Assassin’s Creed to King of Fighters (oh-Mai-oh-Mai!) We have Duke Nukem Forever as one of our main disc-to-digital titles this week. Step into the shoes of Duke Nukem, the pumped up one-man army who never fails and always gets the ladies.

We also have Rock Band DLC featuring tracks from Hall & Oates, Devin Townsend and more. I’m sure some of you will be rocking out to these until the next batch of DLC. The full list of additions follows below this great wall of text!

This week also concludes the January sale with a special set of games being reduced by up to 50%! To celebrate the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 a nice selection of Final Fantasy titles have been slashed! For the complete list please see the Special Offers section. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the demo of FFXIII-2 available on the store right now!

But wait! If you’re a PS Plus member you can enjoy Final Fantasy Vas part of your subscription from February 8th when the Plus content refreshes – so if you have your eye on FFV and you’re a Plus member, it’ll pay to be patient.

I hope you all take advantage of this sale and enjoy what are some of gaming’s finest. With that said I bid you all a farewell until next week! Happy gaming!

FFlogo

That’s nearly every mainstream Final Fantasy game! If you haven’t started the series, why not start now! You won’t even need to start at the first game, either! Perhaps you want an FF game with its first female lead (and one of my favourites!)? Go with FFVI. Or maybe you’d like to start with the first 3D FF that is Final Fantasy VII. Whatever you chose you’re bound to have some of gaming’s finest moments, made even finer at a reduced price. Feel free to recommend your favourites in the comments below!

Hi Jawad

Can you ask andy if there is any updates on getting “Wallace and Gromit`s Grand Adventures” from Telltale games on to PSN?

Hi Jawad can you please tell me when Jurassic park is comming to psn in Australia and why it is takeing so long thank you

How long is the Final Fantasy sale on for?

Nice discounts on Final Fantasy might pick up VI and also good to see more Disgaea 4 DLC

@ everyone (please read and answer):

Given how, as I predicted, my post fell into total obscurity a week ago, I’m reposting this as follows:

Hi! It’s been a while (a few months, actually) since I last wrote anything here, but whatever. The following might be relevant to some people, especially the ones who, like me, are upset about the upcoming Vita largely overshadowing the PSP, as mentioned (and acknowledged) among the comments two weeks ago.

So. As I said above, it’s also been a few months before we actually ever heard anything about the Spyro PS1 Classics. And even though Ross McGrath assured that the Store would still be accessible from PSPs even after the launch of the Vita, I still have an eerie feeling it’s only a matter of time before it happens.

Before our chances of seeing the Spyro games on our PSPs are doomed for good, I was thinking about something like the Operation Rainfall fan campaign. For those not in the know, just google Operation Rainfall.

So, what about starting an European fan campaign? We shall dub it:

OPERATION DRAGONFALL

Because, come on, the U.S. got all three Spyro games in a row, on a weekly basis for Pete’s sake! Let’s do something here, too!

Who’s with me?

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 2:44 pm

We totally understand the Spyro frustration. It’s something we really want to get out there as well and we’re working to make it happen. I hope we can share something with you guys shortly, though.

please fix the “Cultura italiana” quiz pack for the italian version of Buzz! Quiz World for the PSP, it actually downloads and installs the GERMAN files… don’t ignore this please, italian customers are still getting the wrong thing after almost 2 years! Jawad, last week you posted this: “I’ve been informed this fix has been implemented. Try deleting what you have and redownloading.” but it’s NOT true!

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 4:49 pm

Apolgoies for the miscommunication. I am sorry for this but,the pack has been fixed but you will need to repurchase this as it only applies to new downloads. As such I suggest the following course of action:

    1. You will need to get in touch with customer service and request a refund on this matter.
    2. Once you have claimed your refund please redownload the pack from the PS Store.

We have been assured this will work but if in the event you run into issues please inform customer services.

Once again I am sorry for the issues you are having but I hope the above procedure works in your favour.

nice sale update and many thanks for the heads up on final fantasy V.

quick question, i think ill buy ff 7 and 9 as i already have 8 but can you tell me can the vita use ps1 content via remote play? i know atm you cant play ps1 classics direct on vita but dont know about remote play any chance you can find out and answer that for me?

thanks

xenokiller90 25 January, 2012 @ 1:07 pm   8

A bit of variation in this weeks sale would have been good.

Jesse-Blue 25 January, 2012 @ 1:07 pm   9

Hooray! Another week WITHOUT TRINE 2.
Don’t you feel totally incompetent to not be finally able to get this game to your QA???
How many weeks of delay is it now?
Same seems to be the case with Choplifter…

Is this a new trend Sony QA wants to start to crush the competition? lol
Delay the release of all games on EU PSN so many weeks nobody cares about them anymore or bought them on your competitors platform (who never seems to have these issues).

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SCEE.
If you end up loosing more ground to Microsoft you wholly deserve it with your subpar service.
And that comes from a PS3 fan!

omfg kof avatars! Thank you so so much!!!

this update is fine
might pickup the lbp2 dlc and the darkness 2 demo
but
where is the resistence 3 dlc

Falcon1991 25 January, 2012 @ 1:08 pm   12

An awesome new load of avatars. :)

Also good to see a demo for The Darkness II.

AlexPSN89 25 January, 2012 @ 1:08 pm   13

@ Jawad:

Hi and welcome to the blog! I don’t know if you’ve read my post above, but I want to re-post it as a straightforward question for you:

Any news about the Spyro PS1 Classics? Because I’ve enjoyed them on the PS1, and I’m looking forward to do the same on my PSP.

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 2:52 pm

I’ve just responded to another Spyro post above, actually. We really, really know how much people want this and we’re working to get this out as quick as we can. Unfortunately there’s not much else extra I can add.

Hi jawad good to see you on the blog team i askd andy this question for around 2 years and although he was good sadly he couldnt get me the answer i was wanting so could you help us get the spyro ps1 classics on the eu store ??? andy said last year hopfully before christmas 2011 and they never came so i would be extreamley happy if you could help us get these titles

Any news on the Jurassic Park refunds?

Is there any news on the Okami avatars? I’m still hoping my request isn’t falling on deaf ears! ;)

Will be Toki Tori available in Russia?

Opt1mus76 25 January, 2012 @ 1:10 pm   18

Hi Jawad
No Worms Ultimate Mayhem? Its on Xbox Live (demo was quite fun) but I want it on PS3 as more of my friends on PS3.
And can anyone please find out whats happening with Renegade Ops content from the Play promo. Its getting ridiculous that we still haven’t received codes almost 2 months after content went on store.

I know it’s not game related, but is there any chance the comic store will be revived soon? I was kinda hoping it would be back for the Vita but that doesn’t seem likely.

@AlexPSN89

why are you upset at vita overshadowing psp???

the psp is like 7 years old now so of course the vita is going to receive more focus from now on as its the new kid on the block.

ps1 content will still come out when vita is out and psp will still be able to play them, the ps store will still be accessible from psp and you will prob get more digital psp games made available in time due to the vitas compatibility with digital psp titles.

Is there any chance we could get discounts or bundles for Modnation Racers(PS3) DLC?

chrisredfield_97 25 January, 2012 @ 1:12 pm   23

DarK_Adam_ka 25 January, 2012 @ 1:13 pm   24

So all of the games in the sale are PS1 games? No new trophies for me… :(

Hi Jawad,

is there any clue if the move.me stuff (the API for using Move controllers with a PC) will be released in the SCEE regions?

magmar126 25 January, 2012 @ 1:14 pm   26

Any update about Trine 2 for Europe?

Wow, quite the Final Fantasy sale! Impressive, guys!

AvenGer20 25 January, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   28

Wow, thanks for the KOFXIII avatars! And all those final fantasy games, I already have the best among them.

About FFXIII-2 I already pre orderd the collecter edition. For all the people who didnt play Final Fantasy games yet, I recommend you to start with Final Fantasy VII and then do the rest :D.

Gonna download the Darkness 2 demo, I hope its good.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the Muppets Level pack for LittleBigPlanet 2. The chances of me getting any course work done tonight are non existent.

So no Demos for Germany great. Put them “please” into Plus Section

Missing Games will “hopefully” release in February?! Are you kidding? There is absoluty no reason that the Games are available already in US.

Ok here my Questions for next Weeks Comedy Show aka FAQ:
Can the Online Pass of EU (UK) Vita Games be reedemt in Germany without changig Account/Store? Remember Vita only usable with one Account or i have to do a Hard Reset!

Are there any benefits for Vita Users with Plus Subscription?

Lizzie323 25 January, 2012 @ 1:17 pm   31

Well this isn’t creepy at all….since yesterday I’ve been in a real JRPG mood & for the last half an hour I’ve been researching/deciding between FFV & FFVI :P

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 2:56 pm

FFVI! It’s amazingly good. I ought to replay it again one day.

FFV is also great but remember, it’ll be available for Plus members in February if you can wait.

almighty-slayer 25 January, 2012 @ 1:17 pm   32

Yet another week where there is nothing good. Thanks for saving my money :-)

Stuart444 25 January, 2012 @ 1:17 pm   33

Do you think you could ask Namco Bandai if they will bring Tales of Destiny to the US PSN and then bring it to us as a US PS1 import?

(Hey! It never hurts to ask right? XD)

Hey Jawad,

Just wondering if there is any new information on Tombi at all?

Also, do you know if the Vita will eventually support PS1 classics and support use of both analogue sticks?

Cheers,

Talvin

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 2:58 pm

    Sadly not for Tombi.

I can’t comment on the Vita/PSOne functionality. Sorry!

Hi Jawad, how are you settling in. Can I ask you a couple of questions?

1. When can we expect the WWE ’12 Legend DLC

2. Is Final Fantasy 1 and 2 compatible with PS3 or are they just PSP games.

3. I cannot access wipeout HD??? I had to replace my console and now I cannot re-download it. It say this content cannot be accessed on your account???

Thanks for your help :D

    Jawad Ashraf 25 January, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

    Very well, thanks!

    1. Not sure but will find out.
    2. PSP only. The same goes for FFIV.
    3. This might be because you need to activate your new console to your account and deactivate a previous console. Hopefully that works for you.

Ask rocksteady to get some batman arkham city avatars… That would be epic.

Any news on PS2 classics?

RedeyedRonin 25 January, 2012 @ 1:19 pm   38

where is WORMS ULTIMATE MAYHEM HD?
we got a worms 2 pack signifying the release of it last week please answer im getting annoyed with no news on this and im not the only one!

Bealinator 25 January, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   39

Good price for the FF games! I’ll get V and VI, thank you! Already have VIII and IX on download form, and have VII on disc.

Bealinator 25 January, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   40

Oh, any ETA on Tombi?

This sales method sucks, if you do not like FF you got nothing. Should have spaced them out among other sales.

Shift_Breaker 25 January, 2012 @ 1:21 pm   42

Bit disappointed about the lack of the Edgar Winter Group and KoRn songs for Rock Band, but at least not only is 2112 out, but we’re finally catching up AND there’s a big Final Fantasy sale. Looks like it’s time to get a digital version of IX finally.

Chocobo115 25 January, 2012 @ 1:21 pm   43

Heya Jawad, any chance for a sale of Sonic Adventures + DLC? I own the Original Sonic Adventures for Dreamcast already, but I’d like to replay the game again with added trophies, but quite not willing to pay full price for it :/

Any news on the Resident Evil 5 or Silent Hill 2 & 3 avatars hitting the UK store?

Oh man another week without Trine 2 thanks for putting the update in the FAQ section. Good selection of avatars this week, I will probably give the darkness 2 demo a go I enjoyed the first game.

Nice to see some deals on the FF games. I mighty now pick up VII.

Is there any sign of a deal on SideScroller?
As the US have had this discounted for plus on release and then again in the Jan Sale?

blendercat27 25 January, 2012 @ 1:22 pm   47

Gosh, that is a lot of avatars. I don’t want to see people begging for avatars for at least another 2 months.

Thanks for the update btw. May try out the Darkness II demo. Looks good from the previews I’ve seen on gamespot and other places.

Eager to play the Darkness 2 Demo and like that there’s loads of new avatars.
Still disappointed about the Trine 2, but sure i guess i’ll have to wait. At least you acknowledged it in the FAQ instead of completely ignoring us this time. Baby steps…

cognac-vsop 25 January, 2012 @ 1:23 pm   49

another week, another lame update, no Capcom bundle sale like the US is getting??

SuGaR_rAy_RiDeR 25 January, 2012 @ 1:23 pm   50

What a great sale!!!

Final Fantasy discounts, hell I’ll probably pick them all up except for 7 which I already own.

Can you please answer just a couple of questions this week….

1) Where are the Resident Evil Avatars we were supposed to get in September?

2) Any chance of the first Dead Space with all download content getting a discount, just like dead space 2 a few weeks back? I would pick that up in a heartbeat.

Thanks
