Update: Sadly, we are now unable to publish The Simpsons Arcade until next week, Wednesday 8 February, and not today as listed. We apologise for getting you excited about playing it too early but, rest assured, it will still be available to PS Plus members at no extra cost for a full four weeks. By way of small compensation, we will extend the 100% discount on Back to the Future: The Game for an additional week, for those who might have missed it last month.
And so by popular demand, we update at the beginning of the month and bring you one of the best months yet for PlayStation Plus.
First of all, we have a brand new PSN title for you at no extra cost, The Simpsons Arcade. The year – 1991. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to chase down the nefarious Smithers, who has kidnapped Maggie! Play as either Homer, Bart, Marge or Lisa and track him down before it’s “too late”, (too late for what I’m not entirely sure…) and save the day! The Simpsons Arcade will be available until the 29th February, so make sure you grab it in the first 4 weeks of this refresh.
More freebies too in the shape of Hungry Giraffe, the latest mini from our friends at Laughing Jackal and the iPhone hit, Farm Frenzy. Oh and a little something from Square-Enix in the shape of Final Fantasy V, as we have previously mentioned.
We also have a series of discounts that will be coming and going this month so I want you all to pay attention to the Store updates – we’ve got a discount this week on Rayman: Origins, next week we’ll be giving you a great deal on Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment for all you RPG fans and later in the month you’ll be getting half-off on each of the Splinter Cell HD titles (perfect for filling the gaps if you didn’t get yourself the trilogy). Sonic Adventure, Sonic’s first proper 3D outing is also available at 50% off this month for Plus subscribers and if you’ve already got it or are thinking of picking it up, you’ll be pleased to know that the DX Upgrade that makes Sonic Adventure all the more adventurous is available to you all at no cost. More from SEGA as we have a sizeable discount on the new PSN release of House of the Dead 3, complete with a new resolution and Move support.
I can also let you know that we’ll be adding a few more title trials to your library, as well as launching a category in Plus where you can get access to all the Dynamic themes we’ve released exclusively for you guys.
And of course, it’s Valentine’s Day on the 14th! Here at PlayStation Plus to show that we love* you, from the 15th February until the 22nd February, Far Cry 2, the open-world FPS/regime change-based malaria simulator, is included as part of your subscription – so grab it while you can before it’s gone!
That’s it – keep an eye out for a few extra surprise discounts and bits and pieces, as ever.
*Disclaimer: PlayStation Plus is an abstract concept and does not actually love you. It just thinks of you as a good friend.

Am a bit weary over hearing The Simpsons has ‘remastered HD’ graphics. Really hoping the classic pixel art hasn’t been replaced with dull cardboard looking HD sprites or gone 3D. That Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reshelled was a total disaster but Konami did also release X-Men mostly intact so here’s hoping. Will see tonight. Four player online and trophies are a nice bonus.

YES YES! The Simpsons Arcade. You have no idea how many 20c coins I pumped into that old game in my childhood. Oh, the nostalgia! can’t wait to get this on my PS3 system and lose several hundred hours.
Thanks for the excellent update, guys. Keep up the great work.
@KlotX – Comment #39
I would sympathize with you if any of the games you listed were worth playing. Battle Fantasia is all kinds of bad, and the EU version doesn’t even have the US-only patch with trophy support (not Sony’s fault in any way).

Hi Ross,
thanks for explaining the Burnout Paradise Complete Edition issue. Too bad that the solution you offered is not for me. As i said i want to OWN the game and all of its DLC and not just buy the DLC and RENT the game via my Plus subscription. Instead I will just let my Plus subscription run out and buy the game the next time it goes on sale. I’m afraid this service is just not for me.
best regards,
Benjamin
BTW SCEA had a similar problem with their Capcom Super Bundle sale and they lifted the restriction for users who already bought content included in the bundle for the time of sale. I think that’s the right way to do this.
Posted on 1 February, 2012 at 11:54 am by Ross McGrath
Thanks for the feedback Ben, I will see if we can get that entitlement lifted.

again no Jurassic park in Australia or codes sent to us for taking up plus offer if i don’t get the game within 14days i will be submitting a complaint with the Australian department of fair trading and will get this issue solved once and for all if i don’t get game i will make sure fair trading gets me a bonus year of plus. as false advertising is very illegal in Australia so is bait and switch.
this is the last warning for the game in Australia and codes for the users that took up the plus deal to get game free.
this is not on Sony.
do not say ratings issue as game has been rated in australia so you have no more lagal grounds to hold back the game from us Plus members that took up the deal let alone send out the codes.

Hello guys at Sony!
I’m not sure if this is the best way to get my question answered though..
Last week I tried to play Wipeout HD again, but the key was missing. I got Wipeout HD for free as part of my Plus subscription, and again with the welcome back pack including Fury. But unfortunately I can’t redownload this game anymore, only the Fury pack. Wipeout HD isn’t in my download list at all.
I hope theres a way to get this problem solved, I know im not the only one with this issue. Thanks for reading (:

ross you missed all the questions about vita offers for plus, considering the vita is going to be the major focus of this year it would be silly not to include some kind of vita promotions in plus.
any news?
hints?
cryptic messages?

Great update, I have been a plus subscriber since day 1 and am very happy with the service and game content. Glad I can pick up golden axe as this was the only one i missed when it was on plus last year.
Any chance of adding a dead space as part of plus? if not, how about a discount? I would pick that up straight away!!!!

Today, in the ps store, there will be an old Simpsons arcade game from 1991, for £8.00.
But you can get it for free, if you have playstation plus. I don’t wanna pay £40.00 for a year, of ps plus.
But there is another deal, were you can get playstation plus, for 90 days, for £12.00.
So for another £4.00, i could get 90 days of playstation plus, and my Simpsons arcade game for free.
But, my question is.. When my playstation plus subscription runs out, will i still keep the games, i got from ps plus?
Posted on 1 February, 2012 at 2:23 pm by Ross McGrath
No, I’m afraid you can only make use of the games you get at no cost from PlayStation Plus as long as you have an active subscription.

@ Ross can you ask sega for Sonic adventure-2, my 1 only gripe with the sonic adventure-1 upgradte to DX was…
1. No xmas tree at a certain time set by your date
2. other DLC was not there to mark other events too.
3. i’m gutted no gamegear sonic games unlocks on DX
but i hope the new 1 SA-2 will have DLC.
thanks

@blendercat27 Comment #108
I understand what you mean and I tend to agree. I just wanted to stress that it should be fair and the offers should be as similar as possible. It’s just a matter of fairness, nothing more. If in the future we have that parity that Ross is working on, if US gets a nice game, we would get it too, and vice versa, and we’re all happy
@Ross: It’s nice to see you answering our questions and comments, the Plus community has been unsupported for quite some time. At least it is my feeling.
Also, I’d like to know your feelings on the 1€ – $1 parity

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I checked the app on my phone this morning & saw The Simpsons arcade game, I got a buzz from head to toe, reading the posts on here, anyone who doesn’t know this game is in for a treat, and without all the 10p’s (running to & from the change box before the countdown ended was a task in itself, that would be like getting a gold trophy nowadays on the ps3). It’s my birthday in a few days & this is like an early present, well it is an early present as it’s free for me
my hard drive is constantly packed with plus content, thanks to all at Sony for this, best £40 ever spent. I’d love to see the original wwf (wwe nowadays) arcade game at some point in the future, that would just be awesome

I’ve no idea if this is possible or not but I’d really like a Mass Effect styled update as Mass Effect 2 and all the dlcs on sale. I am deeply considering getting ME2 and the coming ME3 for the ps3. I would prefere to get ME2 through PSN but there is no way I am paying the ridiculously overpriced version there’s available now (the listing price currently is around 600 DKK /80 €) so I’d like to suggest getting that in the plus update!

I’ve just bought 3 months + to take advantage of the back to the future freebie. My question is my supscription ends end of April and ill be away for 6 months and won’t be using my ps3 will I Bf able to use previously downloaded freebies when I get back and resubscribe? Great content by the way this month very impressed.

Hi Ross,
I noticed you mention that there is a DLC sale coming up in February and I’m hoping you’re still reading the comments here as I would like to suggest a few to put into the sale (or possible put in a plus update at a later date?).
Suggestions: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed DLC, Killzone 3 DLC, and Battlefield BC2 DLC.

So of course, things never run smoothly, just as everything was going so well…
Konami have contacted us this morning and informed us that The Simpsons Arcade will need to publish on February 8th to be in line with the game’s release on Xbox Live Arcade and in SCEA.
Unfortunately, this is not something I have the power to change and it means you won’t be able to get your hands on The Simpsons until next week – February 8th. Believe me, I’m as disappointed as you are. The game will still be available for four weeks, so the new removal date will be March 7th, when we refresh the Plus update.
The rest of the February Plus refresh will go ahead as planned and we will keep Back to the Future: The Game in there for one extra week so you’re not flying ‘gameless’.
I do apologise for this guys, I will try and make it up to you later in the month with something extra to say sorry.

Posted on 1 February, 2012 at 2:39 pm by Chr15toff3e
@Maias227
You should get ME2, because it doesn’t dissapoint. Mass Effect noobs find it a bit difficult to adapt with the game at first, but if you stick with it, the game delivers.
@Connor_mufc_1985
Your name suggests your a united fan, so everything today should look great after last night’s results. Especially after we did you lot a favour by beating City. COYB!
@Ross
I was thinking of renewing my subscription when it ends, but having heard that all downloaded content expires after the original subscription finishes has made me think if it’s worth renewing. Is there any chance of that changing in the future, becuase if we’re able to keep what we’ve downloaded, then I’ll will definitely renew Ps+.

Ross, in response to your reply regarding the Jurassic Park code situation, I have just talked to Playstation Support (my 4th phone call regarding this issue) and they don’t have a clue. As far as they are aware there is no list of eligable customers and no list of voucher codes to be given out. All I’ve been told yet again is that the issue is with Head Office (which it has been since 20/12/2012), and nothing has been done with it yet, so I should continue to wait and they will apparently contact me.
It’s an absolute joke. With the money I have spent calling Playstation Support (why is your support line not a freephone number!) I could have bought the game seperately.
