Hello everyone! I’m BioWare Community Manager Jessica Merizan, and I’m here to bring you news about Mass Effect 3, and the new demo launching tomorrow on the PlayStation Network.
Voted “Most Anticipated Game of 2012″ at the Spike Video Game Awards, Mass Effect 3 plunges you into the boots of Commander Shepard, a decorated marine and war hero, as players lead the charge in an all-out galactic war against a nearly unstoppable foe.
Tomorrow marks the arrival of our single player demo for the PlayStation 3, giving you a taste of what to expect when Commander Shepard takes Earth back on March 9. When you download and play the demo, you’ll see that how you fight the war is entirely up to you. Choose your appearance and pick from a variety of specialized combat classes, each with unique and devastating abilities. As you progress in this war, you’ll choose which abilities to specialize in, which weapons to bring into battle, and which characters will join you in combat.
There’s more to this demo, though – starting on February 17, PlayStation owners will be able to play multiplayer for the first time in the Mass Effect universe! As a special bonus, Battlefield 3 owners who have redeemed an online pass on the PlayStation Network will get early access to the multiplayer demo starting tomorrow, February 15.
I’d say more, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise! Be sure to check out the Mass Effect 3 demo tomorrow!

Bit disappointing really.
you claimed the demo to be released on the 14th of Feb on every platform, yet EU PSN has to wait till the 15th when the damn store updates.
I know i prefer my ps3 and playstation network over anything else, but xbox live has a better store. they can add anything at anytime, they dont have to wait till update days

Cool; I enjoyed Mass Effect 2 but it did feel a bit clunky at times and had audio issues. I’m hoping that ME3 has sorted out all the technical issues and brings the story to a satisfying conclusion.

How disappointing that after a few weeks of promoting a Feb 14th Mass Effect 3 demo, it’s taken until today to reveal that the Europeans are getting shafted.
It’s also ridiculous that the main game is only released in Europe three days after the Americans get it – for such a highly anticipated story-based game this is nonsensical, and it’s likely that in those three days ME3 could be ruined for many because of spoilers. Why wasn’t ME3 given the same status as things like MW3 and Skyrim with simultaneous worldwide releases?

Ive stuck with Sony and the Playstation for many years and have had no never considered going to Xbox until the last few months. Im at the point where I am seriously fed up with Sony’s stance on EU customers forever being screwed over. Constant errors, poor communication (“Mass Effect demo on the 14th.” 14th arrives. “Ah, actually the rest of the world can have it but have to wait.”). I never thought I would see the day where I would seriously consider switching. I think I was about time Sony stopped bending over to the US and began treating all the same including EU. Rant over

Sony EU is the biggest reason I’m being put off PS3 gaming. Also, I know it doesn’t have anything to do with ME3 but, where is Trine 2 for EU? Been more than a month since it released worldwide, also for EU on XBOX but not for the PS3. If this is SCEE’s fault Trine 2 dev should sue SCEE for lost sales.

It’s not just European users getting shafted. It’s not available on PSN for American users either yet. And most reports say it won’t be available till sometime between 8 PM-midnight EST.

EU PSN should update tuesdays, Microsoft European team puts Sony’s European team to shame.

@GinaD89
You’re still getting it on a tuesday 14th, the day it’s meant to be out.
Europeans have to wait the next day while everyone else plays the demo and rubs it in our faces.

I’m pretty sure if the EU got equal treatment from Sony, the world would immediately end. That is one of many possible reasons that come to mind.

To all the moaning people above.
Seriously did you expect it to be on the 14th. One easy look at the calendar would have shown the demo was out on a Tuesday which is when the US and Xbox get their content. We get our content on a Wednesday so why would this be any different.

Im realy at pains to say it but i have to agree with some of the comments from above.I have always had love for sony but ps3 from start to finish in this house has been painfull.the fact that between me & my bro we,ve had 10 replacement units from the original 2 that were bought (3 for 1 & 7 for the other),not even that realy put me off,apart from the time they left me without for 2 weeks coz they sent me someone elses broken 1 or the time i had to send 1 unit back twice with my game because sony was calling me a liar & they couldnt source a AAA title.whats realy done it is the blatant disregard for customers since the BIG SONY HACK & the “oh yea by the way”attitude stinks,I hate to say it & it realy feels like”cutting ones nose of f to spite…”but microsoft or pc for me next gen c ya sorry i mean sony.

To the person who mentioned Trine 2 not being on the PSN, as well as all others speaking about “late” content:
Have any of you stopped to consider that Microsoft may have paid for an exclusivity clause on certain (it seems, popular) games? It’s a frequent occurence with disc-based games, so why not with digital games as well? I’ll be willing to bet that Microsoft, with their very deep pockets, would have put in a confidentiality clause as well, which would forbid the rivals (Sony, Nintendo, Valve etc) from making any mention of an agreement.
Seems like something they’d do…
P.S. That’s not brownnosing Sony, that’s just taking 30 seconds to look back, let the rage pass, and actually figure out why.

@Lightning Samus, we’re getting it earlier than most of the EU but according to most reports it’s not even guaranteed US PS3 users will get it on the 15th. The update happens anytime between 4PM-8PM PST, which means at the earliest we’ll get it with a whole 4 hours left in the 14th. Not really a huge difference in terms of US/EU PS users compared to PC/360 users. Basically as a whole Sony’s PSN service is lacking.

One more day won’t make a difference when you play it. It’s not as great as it’s made out to be (I know. Easy for me to say because I’ve played it). I’m a big fan of the previous games as I pre-ordered them both, but this one, from what I’ve played, doesn’t really seem to acknowledge the choices you previously made (just the feeling I got from the demo). It only sometimes gives two dialogue options to choose from. For new players, it won’t feel like there was two games of ME before this one. The music is good though. And look out for Anderson’s style of “running”, he looks like he’s cacked his pants.

I believe Trine 2 is on the US store. There is some technicial issue with the EU release that has delayed the game. We had a date for the game and it was delayed.
Microsoft would advertise the fact it was an exclusive months in advance.

Was not even aware the demo was due so i am very pleased, have to say i agree with the general complains regards the scee service, but tbh i wouldn’t class this demo being released on the ‘normal’ store day as one of them, really looking forward to picking up my pre-order in march, but why no bonus content/mission(s) for those who finished ME2,? or maybe more importantly its dlc, i know thats not the norm, but for some reason i was expecting ‘something’. that related to my ‘lost hours’ in the last game. still am just glad i will get both demo’s tomorrow.

For all the people moaning about the aparent slip of the PS3 date, PC gamers have it FAR worse. If you didn’t activate a Battlefield 3 pass, you don’t get the demo unthil th 17th. So count yourselves lucky!

@chrisandsheva
Bioware have said that the DLC in weapons and armour that you purchased in the previous game is included in this one. But I picked up an item in ME3 earlier on which I’m certain was DLC in the second game. So I don’t know if they mean it carries over or it’s already included with ME3. As far as I know with the DLC missions, I don’t think it’ll change the game much, just probably recognise that you did them when you’re in conversation.

Wasn’t the whole point of it being called SEN (though more like SENCO to me) was that we would get updates all at the same time? Otherwise what’s the point? Throw more terms and conditions down our throats?

Posted on 15 February, 2012 at 2:30 am by OttoT
And again we have to wait while the rest of the world plays the demo.
Why the hell is the netwerk almost weekly down for maintenace and still is as crap and produces still faults over and over again?
So disapointed in you Sony.

I have to agree never for a second have i considered switching to xbox but so often lately i find i’m left frustrated yet again. After the network crash I expected more from sony but it seems they’re always 1 step behind the xbox. Why is it we’re always the last to get demo’s or dlc’s come on sony sort it out

Posted on 15 February, 2012 at 10:53 am by hollandnigel
Oh my god guys, quit the complaining!!!
It’s just 1 day later, We always get store updates the same time every week, it’s no big deal, and besides, the USA may get it a day earlier, but with the time difference and the time it takes for it to get released on their store, it’s probably around a 12 hour difference.
Just be grateful we no longer have the store update on Thursdays!
Next you’ll be complaining if the MW3 Maps are actually released on the Wednesday 29th and not the advertised Tuesday 28th

@36
indeed, if you can’t wait a day, just make a USA account and stop complaining. Europe is not one market like the US, so there can be some delay…

US demo acme out at about 2:45am GMT, so it’s not even a full day of difference lol.

omg its one day get a grip.
i get people not being happy when we have to wait weeks even months to get stuff that the usa get but one day is hardly even a wait at all.
stop acting like spoiled children, like others have said before our updates are always on a wed so why expect any different, if its that big of a deal to you that you would want to get rid of a ps3 and buy an xbox then bye,bye.
(im actually hoping the xbox comment above mine is sarcasm to be honest)

Not bothered by the game,played demo for 2,and it felt like a garbage shooter.I do think it would of played better on mouse.
Why is the voice stuff kinect exclusive? PS3 uses have mic’s you know.
46
Posted on 15 February, 2012 at 3:47 pm by Lightning_PT1985
I just don’t get it… Why do we have to wait one more day than players from USA? It’s unfair! The release date it’s the same, more 3 days than yankees.

Posted on 15 February, 2012 at 4:03 pm by TobyVvV
The only reason I’m [DELETED]off at the moment is that I bought Battlefield 3 and we got early access. Early access does not mean later-than-other-early-access-people access.
@Vonhammer
I just checked my Xbox then and there was an Inside Xbox Q&A where that was answered. Kinect has the built-in voice recognition technology whereas the microphones don’t. You need Kinect for it. Mics won’t suffice, not even on the Xbox.

@Jessica: I’ve had the chance to play ME3 again and would say that a second playthrough is needed. Enjoyed it more on the second try. Seeing that it is a demo and not the finished game that’s gone gold, I’m hoping that the cover mechanics will be more polished and that there is less auto-dialogue featured in the released version. Enemy A.I has improved loads and the combat melee feature works well. Fingers crossed that the story gets better, the writers didn’t do a great job for the start of the game, it needs the ol’ ME1 writers back.
