‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 15th February 2012

Greetings humble gamers. I come forth with a new update of the PlayStation Store.

After a bit of a wait we now have Worms Ultimate Mayhem ready and waiting to claim your precious hard drive space. Grand Theft Auto IV arrives to the PS Store as a vanilla flavour or as a bundle option complete with DLC, and House of the Dead III also shows its beautifully scary side for you to unload your rounds on.

MassEffect3_Hero_PVWIMG

The big demo this week is Mass Effect 3. Fire the first shots in the war to take Earth back! Voted Most Anticipated Game of 2012 at the SpikeTV VGAs, Mass Effect 3 puts you at the centre of an all-out galactic war – and how to wage that war is up to you. Try the demo today.

BinaryDomain_Hero_PVWIMG

Binary Domain also pops in for a visit, also having a demo on the store today. From the team that brought you Yakuza comes Binary Domain, a game set in a futuristic Tokyo where man and machine are waging war. A bit like Terminator only in Tokyo, then. But nay! It’s the gameplay system that should be of interest. Direct your team with instructions either by button commands or your very own voice – do they trust you or are you just a reckless muppet in the middle of a warzone?

Also, Far Cry 2 has its price slashed to £7.99/€9.99! Even better, if you’re a PS Plus subscriber then it is offered to you at a 100% cut. Imagine that. Oh wait, you won’t have to!

PS2-logo

Today we also enter a new phase of select PlayStation 2 titles appearing on the store. We’re taking things slow with a selection of titles (full list below), but a couple of gems to definitely check out are God Hand and Maximo.

“God or demon, what am I? It’s time for me to choose my path!” (I love the song!) Receiving a controversial review, God Hand is a sorely underexposed PS2 game that was, for many players, a truly wild ride. With crazy moves such as the “Ball Buster” and a truly colourful set of characters, God Hand was not only fun, frantic and hilarious but also pretty gosh darned hard!

Now, if that doesn’t take your fancy (why?!) then give Maximo a shot. Using the classic Ghosts ‘n Goblins as a sort of base design, the game has you take up arms as Maximo, who needs to save his lady friend and other loved ones from an evil chap called Achilles. With classic style gameplay reimagined, Maximo is sure to provide you with some great fun and amusing moments when you’re stripped to your hearty underwear whilst fighting off the undead. No man is more brave and determined than this, surely?

I hope you enjoy some of what’s on today.

Stay safe, readers.

Bye!

    Jawad Ashraf 16 February, 2012 @ 9:29 am

We’re aiming to get the Vita stuff all ready for midnight (GMT) of the release day so hopefully all of you will be able to hammer our systems in the morning when you have your Vitas in hand.

ShogunDarius 15 February, 2012 @ 1:09 pm   5

will the cladun psp games go on sale?, they never have iirc

still without Machinarium … :( tell me when ???

A cricket game they don’t release in Australia or New Zealand… Weird

Ok so US gets Vita games 1 week before there also EXCLUSIVE 1 week early launch, and UK doesn’t? Not only is half of my friendslist already on there Vita cause of them being American, I cant even see the price of the games to maybe get them cheaper. Sony you annoy me!

In PS2 classic I cannot see Odin Sphere or Grimgrimoire…
Good i bought it on US PSStore.
And the prices… 10 euro?? Same games cost 10$ in US PSS

Sony – for real?

If you guys wanna release Trine 2 at any point, we’re okay with that :P

Any news on the Jurassic Park refunds? You said you would ask Ross about an update.

I’m going to keep asking the same thing every week until I get my money back!

    Jawad Ashraf 15 February, 2012 @ 2:08 pm

I have spoken to Ross and have been told customer service have been briefed in on those who are eligible for the refund. You will need to contact them and they will be able to identify whether you are entitled to the refund. Australian and New Zealand customers will be dealt with as a separate matter.

Nice to see PS2 Classics finally release within the EU :) Good prices too! Will pick up God Hand, as I enjoyed the quirkyness back on the PS2 days!

@ Jawad

Please can you check that the God Hand file size is correct please? 164mb seems a bit small!

Playtoy_17 15 February, 2012 @ 1:14 pm   16

WOW good update

Just asking about Wallace and Gromits grand adventures, how long are with it. I would also like information on Crash Bash.

Bloody huge update! :D

Hey there,

Great job on the PS2 classics, can’t wait to try them out.

I have a couple of questions:

1. When will we see first party/Sony published PSP games in the Power Sale? And will the Syphon Filter games be amongst them?

2. When will Vita content be published on the Store?

Cheers,

Si_85

    Jawad Ashraf 16 February, 2012 @ 9:30 am

    1. I actually don’t know. Andy deals with this bit. He’s probably keeping secrets from me!

    2. Aiming for midnight GMT on release day.

Nice to see PS2 classics, just Access for me.

No Trine 2 ?

No Choplifter HD ?

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

SuperJag86 15 February, 2012 @ 1:14 pm   21

Hi!
Do you know if and when the Jak HD Collection will be released on the store?
(also a estimated price would be great)
Thanks!

Carnivius_Prime 15 February, 2012 @ 1:15 pm   22

MAXIMO VS ARMY OF ZIN!!!!

[DELETED]‘ loved that game on PS2. I care not for your Mass Effects or your Far Crys and I thought I was gonna save some money today but I gotta play Maximo vs Army of Zin again. Had to sell my PS2 a while ago so I’ve missed that game.

Also ask Rockstar if you can get The Warriors and Bully (Canis Canem Edit) up there. Those were my absolute fave PS2 games of all and I miss them truly.

KC-alpha-14 15 February, 2012 @ 1:15 pm   23

I remember the days where an avatar would only be £0.20
How things change. Superb update!

Guillemots 15 February, 2012 @ 1:15 pm   24

Woah! 2599€ for the House of Death III! :P
Btw, great update!
Any news about the launch of the PS Vita store in Europe?
Cheers! :-)

SuGaR_rAy_RiDeR 15 February, 2012 @ 1:15 pm   25

What an awesome update!!! plenty of content for all. Just a couple of questions:-

If you are looking for suggestion for ps2 classics, how about Onimusha Series!!!! unless of course there will be a HD release.

Any word on the price of Vita full games via download?, we are one week from launch and still no official word. I really want to go all digital this time, but the pricing issue is really frustrating me.

cheers

    Jawad Ashraf 15 February, 2012 @ 2:14 pm

I’ve suggested it. Any chance I get, even.

Vita stuff will be announce soon. I haven’t got information to pass on yet. Frustrating, I know but please bear with us.

US PS+ members got Far Cry 2 + 6 other games for free

Cpt_Yanni 15 February, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   29

When will the store be ready for ‘Vita’-buyers? I really want to know the prices of the ‘digital’ versions of the games.

bigburt82 15 February, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   30

Please bring LMA Manager 2007 (PS2) to the PlayStation Store. Classic!!!Such a shame that Codemasters seem unlikely to ever release an HD PS3 version…

randellaUK 15 February, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   31

So what’s the call on the vita update will people be waiting until next Wednesday at 5pm for games to go up???many people will be going midnight launch or have early I myself want digital titles but if I can purchase early all the better otherwise it’s buying early from online stores or local at midnight.please think about updating early for all digital buyers :)…

Will vita games be launching on Wednesday for release or will it follow suit and games release Fridays along side ps3 titles?

is psn+ only getting far cry 2 or more?

ilikethispart 15 February, 2012 @ 1:17 pm   33

Great update. But what about the Soul Calibur V costumization pack 2? We were supposed to get that today as well.

No Binary Domain demo for Australia? But the game has been rated by the Classification Board (MA15+) in September last year.

2 Questions.

1. Where is the Vita games? I’m gonna be pre-ordering it tomorrow but not sure what games to pre-order with it as I have no idea on the prices or sizes of the digital versions, considering Sony Europe is staying quite and their history of overpricing games I worried that digital Vita games are gonna be more expensive then retail.

2. Will these PS2 Classics be playable on the Vita, either via remote play or transferring the game across?

@ Jawad

Is there going to be a seperate PLUS post as look at what the US receive! http://goo.gl/eCjKB

thank god i dont have to look at all the “where are the ps2 games” just now the replacement post “where is x ps2 game” lol but nice to see we have more ps2 games straight off the bat than the usa.

are the discounts for plus fully listed? i just ask as team 17 post states there’s going to be a plus discount on worms?
personally i also hoped for plus discount on gta 4 complete like usa $23.99 for the bundle i just ask as its stated in the plus update your going to match the usa when same content is available?

anyway nice update over all just hope you find time to answer my 2 points

    Jawad Ashraf 15 February, 2012 @ 2:48 pm

Yuo are correct – Plus discount for Worms has been updated. The post will be updated shortly with other Plus updates.

Good update, but why oh why, are you (SCEE) always late or worse with everything.

The US plussers got six or seven more free PSN-games this week.

The US Stroe has everything Vita already up.

It’s like Sony doesn’t care about Europe.

chrisandsheva 15 February, 2012 @ 1:19 pm   39

wth… Why has the US plus got 80 dollars of ‘extra’ content, and we only have the Far cry game.?.. Can you ask whoever is running the EU plus to look at this and explain to me/others what the deal is, because i am seriously considering making xbox my ‘main’ console… i will not be descriminated against, nor stand still and watch it happen..

@27

around 3,5GB

Jawad! Excellent update!

Wasn’t expecting so many PS2 releases, so I’m pleasantly surprised.

I’ll get HotD 3 and Jak and Daxter avatars ahead of the release next week.

Speaking of next week… Can you say what the plans are for Vita content? And if the Vita content will be included in these updates? I’m so excited!!

@Bacon_Crispies

no vita games on store till launch, this info is taken from facebook playstation access page.

ps2 classics are not playable on vita either directly or remote play, who knows if this is subject to change however.

chrisredfield_97 15 February, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   45

nice ps2 classics already on the store that’s cool sony keep up the good work lots of ps2 classics but not all of them good enough for me ok first thing i would say about the todays update bad news first in ps2 classics i wanted kingdom hearts and kingdom hearts II of course another bad news is that where is dampierre dlc for soul calibur V? please response to that answer and yeah house of the dead avatars and last of us avatars ok now we go to the good news good news is that i am going to get jak and daxter avatars the whole bundle thing of course far cry 2 as i am a ps plus member and the 2 demos but most mass effect 3 so that was all for me jaward shraf and i hope you will respond to all of my questions plz response thanx

    Jawad Ashraf 15 February, 2012 @ 2:53 pm

Kingdom Hearts is always suggested. If I have anything to do with it then that won’t change however, the publisher will decide if they want to re-release it or not.

Dampierre was a pre-order DLC from what I recall but this may (or already has) changed. I haven’t heard anything about yet, though.

Killer_Paul 15 February, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   46
