MotorStorm RC has very humble beginnings. It started out as a simple concept we were playing around with during lunch times; a pet project to challenge each other to set the fastest times, originally using post-its on the wall as a low-fi leaderboard!
Through a lot of love, care and attention RC has been transformed into the most exciting and addictive racing game we’ve ever created and it gives me great pleasure to finally be able to share that experience with you all — MotorStorm RC is available now for both PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 from the European PlayStation Store, and if you pay once you get both.
See how much fun it is for yourself by picking up the free trial on the PlayStation Store, and check out the extremely rare vehicles while you’re there, if that sort of thing takes your fancy.
See how much fun it is for yourself by picking up the free trial, and take a look at our MotorStorm RC launch trailer:
So much to do!
MotorStorm RC revisits the extreme locations its bigger brother’s put on the map: battling around the rocks and mesas of Monument Valley, crashing through jungles and tearing up the sandy beaches of Pacific Rift, sliding across ice sheets and barrelling down the mountains of Arctic Edge, and weaving through a city ruined by Apocalypse.
Race 8 classic MotorStorm vehicle types, ranging from the off-road Buggies to the lightning-fast Super Cars, and take on a full festival championship with dozens of events and medals to earn.
As you rise to become the champion of every event, you will compete in wheel-to-wheel racing with 8 vehicles on the track at a time, you’ll also be faced with three other game types: ‘Drift’, where you need to power slide for as many points as possible, ‘Pursuit’, where you need to move your way up the grid to first place from the back of the back as fast as possible and Hot Lap, the classic race against the clock for the fastest single lap time.
Outside of the Festival you can race at your own leisure in Free-Play or fight for fractions of a second in the fiercely competitive world of Time Attack, and MotorStorm RC on your PlayStation 3 serves up some good old fashioned split-screen multiplayer action for up to 4 players.
Race your way…
Because of the unique way MotorStorm RC was made, picking it up on either the PlayStation Vita or PlayStation 3 makes it available for the other platform at no extra cost. Not only does this give you great value, it means that all progress, lap times, unlocks, medals and trophies that have been achieved on one version are synchronised to the other, allowing you to take your game with you wherever you go, picking up where you left off.
Old-school racing for the connected generation…
MotorStorm RC embraces the classic arcade racing styles that make the genre so iconic and brings it right up-to-date. With online leaderboards for every event, track and vehicle you can compete against your friends and the rest of the world with ease, no matter what your favourite race is.
The ‘Pitwall’ is the home of your RC community, a constant supply of up-to-the-second updates of your friends’ progress. See their victories, their defeats and, most importantly, challenge them to beat your own times. The Pitwall will alert you when your friends set faster times than you, so the competition never lets up.
The ethos of MotorStorm RC’s competitive play has always been convenience and, with leaderboard challenges between friends and Cross-Play across both Vita and PlayStation 3, it’s never been easier to beat your mates, no matter what platform you’re playing on or what time of day it is.
So much more for you to discover…
With a wide range of vehicles to collect and customise, a playground to explore and a Platinum Trophy to chase down, there’s plenty more for you to go out and discover in MotorStorm RC. On top of all that, for PlayStation 3 there are a few little extras: 1080p HD visuals; stereoscopic 3D; SimulView same-screen multiplayer and classic 4-player split-screen multiplayer.
The game is just the start!
We want you to enjoy MotorStorm RC for a long time, so we’re cooking up additional Festival Championships which will extend the campaign and intensify your rivalries, and introducing extra sets of RC vehicles to expand your collection of stunning micro off-roaders. There are a couple of Rare vehicles raring to go when you pick up the game (only available until March 7th), so make sure to check them out if that sort of thing takes your fancy!
You’ll hear more about what else is coming closer to the time, so make sure your attention is locked on to the PlayStation.Blog, and to make sure you never miss a beat join MotorStorm RC on facebook and follow @MotorStormRC on twitter.
I really hope you enjoy playing MotorStorm RC and I look forward to watching new rivalries emerge and competing with you all via the Pitwall!

I played Motorstorm RC for several hours last night and it is so much fun. I didn’t even boot up Uncharted because of this. Definitely justified my PsVita purchase.
Now please tell Ged Talbot to put Kudos in the next Motorstorm

As with M1JAW, the trophy sync gets caught in a loop. Each time you either check your trophy list or gamer card, the trophies begin the painfully slow sync upload. But they don’t show up on your gamer card, or for others to see when comparing the trophy list.
Not a huge issue, but REALLY annoying. Wish I’d waited now.

Oh, and congratulations on showing Sony how a fair price on digital games will net you A LOT more money than if you’d done the usual crazy overpricing we see on PSN.
Plus Europeans haven’t been forced to wait 4 months for a release date, against North America. Very refreshing. Thanks.
(Just proves Sony is capable of joint regional releases when they can be bothered).

Great game.
Reminds me of super skidmarks on the AMIGA.
However,i’m also having the trophy error – I’m also seeing error code 80022D68 sometimes when trying to sync as well.
Basiaclly non of my trophies are syncing after playing this game.

Trophy issue is fixed. I just synced my trophies no problem.
Now I just need to wait on the dlc coming out as I’ve got my platinum trophy already.

I got this today by mistake when my daughter forgot to swap from my account to hers and ended up paying for it. Teach me to leave my care details on the system I guess. LOL
Anyway being a person that loathes racing games I though I’d hate this with a passion but decided to give it a go…….well I’m certainly happy I did.I absolutely love this game its innovative, fun and fast. I like it so much that I’m now on my way to the game store to pick up all the other motorstorm game. For less then £5 this game purchase is a no brainer. It’s worth about 4 times the price were being asked to pay.
If the Developers read this you guys are amazing, who ever thought of this needs serious commendation.

Just bought it after playing the Trial yesterday. It’s a fun game as are all the Motorstorms. This one’s a great value budget title and when I get a Vita I’ll be happy to install it on that too. No trophy synch issues for me.
It does remind me of the already mentioned Super Skidmarks on Amiga and the old Indy Heat, Super Sprint and all those other similar games with little cars seen from a far away view. Great times.

The leaderboards are already glitched…
Just to give an example, look at the top 2 players on the Beach Wrecker event. Their times are unbelievably fast. I was lucky that one of those two times were at my Pitwall, so I tried to race against his ghost. The event is a race of 3 laps and his racing on the first 2 laps was [Deleted], so had no problem racing besides his ghost. But his ghost just ended after 2 laps and that is his time on the leaderboard!

Demo looks great and plays well however it is almost impossible to play as I keep going in the wrong direction and spinning out of control, I’ve played a few similar games and they are just as hard to play.
I love the motorstorm games in general but can’t see myself purchasing something I can’t control.
if only they had put a behind the car view in!

Leaderboards already glitched, some time on one track is 0.22 seconds.

I want more party modes for split screen. Tag game? Wipeout-styled power-ups (drive over something and get a boost and/or gun)? Destruction derby?
It’s great that someone actually does these 1080p 4-player split screen games. 720p isn’t ofter enough, and I (and I think many others) like to play on the same sofa with friends. And most of the friends don’t play the same games, so a very serious time battle is just not fun, if the host wins all the time, since he has played the most.

Wish there was a handbrake as i just cannot corner at all.. Also regarding the announcement for this games trophy list, it only has one set of em, and if you earn a few on the vita and do a trophy synch, next time you turn the ps3 on they all pop up, but with the same time stamp on.. this caused a friends profile card to go mental.. like maybe the ps3 detected a game hack and was trying to figure it out… great little game.. terrible information about the separate trophy lists.

@chrisandsheva
2 ways to corner.
either let of the gas a little bit a way from the corner and breeze round but this can give quite a large turning circle depending on the car however should still be sufficient enough to give you 3 medals on a track if you have been staying off the walls.
on literally just give the right stick a quick dab down for the break and take the corner slow and tight as a slow corner can still give great results overall.
i have 3 trophies left for the plat, just need to get 3 more medals for all 192 medal trophy and then shave about 1 min off btwn all festivals for the 40 min trophy and then the pit wall and the plat is mine.
kinda wish i went for the pitwall first as i have quite decent times on my tracks and some of the stuff showing on my pit wall is not from friends and there times are insane.

The leaderboards are starting to glitch badly.
Some courses have records of under 1 second – Clearly not possible.
Looking at the ghost replays – Its also uploading some score after 2 or 3 laps …On 4 lap races.Making the times impossible to beat (the very 1st event is a good example)..On the top time, its uploaded the score after 3 laps..Its actually a 4 lap event.
This needs a patch quickly before the scoreboards are completly ruined.

platinum achieved, it was not as hard as i thought it was going to be:)
silliest thing i did was leave the pitwall trophy till last as after you get your total time down to 40 mins its alot harder to shave some time off i ended up basically focusing on beating Phenom_evolution’s times and thats how i got my 10 pit wall wins
fab game nice double plat

Wow, congrats on that! I thought I’d be able to do it, got the closest with this to a Platinum I’ve ever done (I pick the wrong games, like Rockband 3 and GT5). The 40 minute trophy really discouraged me, being currently at 41:28 :S I was actually coming here to complain that it was unfair, and should have been 41 mins. You kind of ruined that.
Do you have any tips on the clean run / not a scratch trophy? (not sure what the name is, my list is still in Dutch). It seemed pretty easy to win a race cleanly, like the first race in the first festival, but while I think I’ve done it clean a few times, I never get that trophy. Am I missing something? Also thanks for the tip that I should be focussing on the pitwall first.
Other than that, great game Evo, and look forward to the expansion sets (there are two sets of trophies listed for me for RC Pro-Am and something else, so I assume those will be coming in the near future
).

@niwrA
all i did was choose a track i was really comfortable with and took my time and got the trophy i never won the race i got it on because i was taking it easy and trying to stay in middle of track as much as possible.
keep going on the 40 mins trophy because its really doable after going for the pitwall stuff my overall time is around 38 – 39 mins. dont get me wrong it is tricky but every second counts with that one.

When I shut down the game all my progress (medals) is erased. When I want to play the game later I have to start all over again. also my times don’t get posted on the leaderboard. anymore. the issue i have is with both versions. (Ps3 and Vita)

You’re right hayzink. I got the clean race track eventually on one of the snow tracks where you can overtake all cars in the first corner and then I just had a clean race from there – it’s a wide track so easy to avoid the walls. Then I’ve just been working on all longer races, and I looked at my ranking and time difference with the top players to see where there was a lot of time left to win. I ended up at 39:59 while I still didn’t have the pitwall trophy, and my friends were way behind me, so I sent a friend request to someone who was at 40:01 and sure enough he accepted and beat two of my times within 30 minutes. So while in bed I beat those again, and that was enough, I got my final trophy and the platinum.
Thanks Evo for a wonderful experience, and look forward to the DLC
@hansendk76 – that sucks. I haven’t had that problem at all, and switched between Vita and PS3 frequently. Once or twice I had to restart because I didn’t get my latest settings, but one before that. Were you logged into PSN at all? I do notice that the servers are getting busier, because yesterday for many races I don’t get the best lines from other players.
