See The First Story Trailer For Resistance: Burning Skies on PS Vita

Those of you following the blog for a while will remember that we unveiled Resistance: Burning Skies back at gamescom 2011. Since then, I’m sure a lot of you have been wondering about our new protagonist Tom Riley, who he is and where his story fits into the grand scheme of the Resistance universe. Well, today we’re presenting you with a brand new story trailer which will give a little peek into Riley’s world and why he’s taking up arms (and axe) against the Chimera invasion!

Resistance: Burning Skies is, at its core, a story about an everyday hero becoming a legend.
On August 15, 1951, New York City fireman Tom Riley is a first responder to a seemingly routine fire call, and finds himself right in the middle of the brutal Chimeran invasion of the US. For fans of the series, the game is set chronologically between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.

Although Riley’s motivation for staying and fighting against the Chimera is driven by his desire to locate and rescue his wife and child, along the way he’ll be embroiled in a far larger conflict that will determine the fate of New York and leave him a key inspirational hero of the Resistance.

For the eagle-eyed among you, you will have noticed that we have revealed a few new weapons and a new Chimera boss in the trailer. In the animated part of the trailer, you’re introduced to one of the all-new Chimera from Burning Skies – the Executioner. This beast is a powerful Chimera class with a massive cannon for an arm, and definitely won’t go down as easily as your standard Hybrid. You’re given a glimpse of the Hunter rifle, a powerful Chimeran burst-fire rifle which is the predecessor to the human Marksman from Resistance 3. The secondary fire for the Hunter fires a drone which travels out from your weapon attacking any nearby enemies, and can be directed around the environment using the front touch screen.
