Gran Turismo fans, start your engines! Back again for 2012, we’re happy to release the new Gran Turismo Academy (released Tuesday 1st May). Take on your friends and GT fans across Europe for your chance to train as a real-life racer. Featuring new challenges released over regular intervals, the Top 16 drivers at the end of the final round will go on to compete in the individual National Finals events, with the best then selected for Race Camp at Silverstone – where they will drive a real Nissan sports car.
Skullgirls, an all-new 2D beat ‘em up from Konami, is finally here to add even more spice to the fighting game community. Created with tournament-level play in mind, Skullgirls is a fresh new game giving the player a colourful cast of characters with some zany gameplay!
Frobisher Says! A new free app that’ll make your head spin. Filled with crazy mini-games utilising the many features of the Vita system, take on Frobisher’s challenges on your own or pass around your Vita with 8 people to see who can get the highest score. Mini games include poking dogs using the touch screen or searching for a bird with the Vita’s motion sensors combined with camera. A truly bizarre game!
We’ve also reduced more titles in delight of our recent announcement of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Check out the Royale Contenders Sale for what’s on offer.
And for PS Plus members, you have the likes of the PS2 Classic Max Payne, Awesomenauts, Hamsterball, Sky Fighter, Smash Cars and more at no cost! You’ll also find Zack Zero at 50% off, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood at 30% off and of course, more! Please refer back to Mr.Ross McGrath’s Plus post right here.
Lastly, keep an eye out on Friday, as Vita owners may see a little bit of Mortal Kombat suddenly appear…

@adumr82 im sick to death of telling people the same thing but some people still expect something every week

And more PSP compatability updates perhaps? In particular I would like to know about:
Locoroco Midnight carnival
Killzone Liberation
Modnation
Echochrome
Thexder Neo
Fat Princess
And maybe when PSOne compatibility will be added

Please, Jawad, explain to me why on earth Legend of Dragoon (A Sony IP) can’t be released in the same week!
Do we always have to be last?!
55
Posted on 2 May, 2012 at 1:34 pm by ninja_tom
And also, will the Vita browser be added to the multi-tasking list? I heard it works when started from some games (modnation).
And perhaps will it ever be possible to have more than one game state in ram as its a bit annoying having to drop out of a game to load a different one.

Good update this week! Still can’t get over the amount of Plus content this month!
Quick question though, with Mortal Kombat this week, and Disgaea last, the games didn’t go up with the store update, but on the Friday instead.
I’m just wondering… why? I know they don’t come out physically until the Friday, but it’s only a couple of days early, and wouldn’t it be a lot easier to advertise and push the games if they launched on the day that everyone expects the Store to update?

So because games have retail release in UK on friday the rest of the Europe will have to wait for the digital release?
Rest of the Europe have retail releases in most cases on wednesday. Is this SCEE or SCEUK?

Just wanted to post that the PSP Motorstorm game that was removed with Everybodys Tennis has not reappeared in my account. My purchased Everbodys Tennis game has however.
If it helps it was a free version I got with the PSP GO offer of 10 games, just wanted to let you know and to know if it was known about.
Posted on 3 May, 2012 at 3:08 pm by Jawad Ashraf
This was an offer for GO users so it won’t appear when you transfer to Vita.

Only Frobishers says for the Vita. Not good. Also, PS+ needs to be sorted for the Vita as well. It feels like the Vita is being neglected as much as the PSP is now. Hope you guys manage to sort this out because sales aren’t good and all advertising has disappeared. Fingers crossed that E3 is epic

Posted on 2 May, 2012 at 1:52 pm by Lenomy
Hi Jawad!
Our beloved Castlevania: Symphony of the Night!
As this game is neither on the PSOne classics section nor can you buy The Dracula X Chronicles for the psp digitally (it includes the game), I was just wondering if you can find out what the deal is, legal issue right?
Also, if there is anything we fans can do to make the game come out any faster, please tell us

Any more PSONE >>> CLASSICS <<< coming to the store? Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is NOT an PSOne Classic.
Since February 29th you've released 2 PS1 games, I don't know who's responsible at Sony but that's poor statistics. People are asking for new games every week and have been doing so in the last 3 years and Sony doesn't give a crap, no wonder the company is bleeding money.
Posted on 3 May, 2012 at 3:09 pm by Jawad Ashraf
There are, yes. Another one is due next week – Arc Arena.

Oh my god!! I have never posted here but this is killing me every week! Its been about 5 years now of checking he store every week and hoping that this week will be different byt no.
Jawad you are very good with the update and blogs but you must dread the backlash each week. I accepted a long time ago that a lot of games I would like to play I won’t get to as I like mainly J-Rpgs so when I heard of the ps2 classics I got my hopes up but alas nothing.
The store has been going for a long time now and all the time we here that it will get better but no it never does. Sony will never change its as simple as that if you want a good psn or services move to Japan.
Sorry for the long rant but the psn is the biggest missed opportunity ever but this small amount of content compared to what is out there is inexcusable.
I can only hope the next gen lives up to the standard of old but doubt it.

Wait, no Touch My Katamari DLC yet? The livearea screen told us it was coming at the end of april! (and last week, it said it’s already released). What’s up with that?

Heya Jawad,
I’ve got 2 questions today:
1) Could you please ask Ross if we’ll eventually get the free Castlevania games US got yesterday?
2) I heard about the missing NISA DLC in northen europe countries + Poland (if I remember correctly), that there’s some issue with translationg some documentation to be able to upload the content for affected countries. I assume they are not being able to get hold on translators for the affected countries. Is this true? Are Sony not able to provide assistance since i assume it leads to sales for both Sony and NISA? Can we fans/users help out in any way?
Would be really happy for an reply to at least the 2nd question.

Any idea when mortal kombat I ony just invested in a uk 32gb costing £79.99 if games are gonna be late on psn and cost same as retail then is there any point us waiting and purchasing on store digital should come on store early as its a extra incentive for people to purchase surely?
Does Frobisher have trophies or is it the same that came with the pre order pack hope the dlc has extra trophies if that’s the case???

battlefield bad company 2 is $19.99 on the usa market… care to explain why its £19.99 here?!?!?
UK£ 19.99 = 32.411786 US$
thats one hell of a price hike!!!! I AM NOT PAYING i urge others to not stand for this either.
come on sony its bad enough you put games on thier for £49 that are £30 in shops but now to charge such a price hike between usa and uk psn is just 1 step too far

what a complete waste of crap the vita is turning out to be, well good handheld but dire games support. sony, sony, sony sigh!!!, you never ever learn do you? well thats it for me, owning both handhelds, vita and 3ds i can honestly say i know which one deserves my support, its not the vita, i honestly regret buying it.of course, people have their own opinion and i respect that, but i can guarantee that there are many many other vita users who are disapointed in the sheer lack of quality stuff on the thing, and how we wait week in week out for new content on psn only to think “oh well there is always next week”. at the end of the day more dust will gather on my vita!!!

Hi James!
Please can you answer a question? I really want a copy of NHL 12, I wasn’t lucky enough to have the money to pre-order one before Christmas and GAME didn’t restock in January. It came up on PSN Store last week for £57.99, a product that’s £19.99 pre-owned and £19.99 new in GAME at the moment.
I am not paying £57.99 for a game seven months old which won’t be supported anymore when NHL 13 is out. There are no British teams in it and it’s just a totally unreasonable price.
Unlike the other chaps, I study games design and being a major Sony enthusiast, I know the publisher decides upon the price. But seriously James, how does EA justify that price? I would buy this right away if the price was reasonable, around the £19.99 mark but £57.99 is a price I won’t pay and EA should lower it because a physical copy is so much cheaper and having seen the price on PSN, I am more tempted to order a copy from Europe or Canada for the portion of the price.
Please get back to me on this. I’ll be severely disappointed if I check again and there is no answer, please follow up on this bud.
Warmest regards,
Dan.

I wonder what update week in May, will be the release of Retro City Rampage? I hope it isn’t delayed!
It was hinted that Legend Of Dragoon would take months to release within the EU, after the US release. It’s only $5.99 too! I thought they would have at least set the price to $9.99 due to the interest, so i’m pleasantly surprised! Thanks US store
