Dear Community,
I am posting this short note to let you know that this will be my last post as PlayStation.Blog Manager, as I am moving on from SCEE to have a go at some opportunities elsewhere.
“OK…so what’s the bad news?” I can hear you type in the comments.
That’s a bit of a joke, but the truth is that there isn’t really any bad news – my leaving opens the door for someone to come in with fresh ideas, different opinions and enthusiasm abound. I’m proud to have helped create a social platform that isn’t about individuals, but about bringing PlayStation customers closer to the professionals who make the games they love; hopefully the next in line will take this small idea even further.
However, I would ask you to be patient while my colleagues work through the transition. The department is working very hard to get the right person as quickly as possible, and recruiting good people can sometimes take time. In the interim, we have organised for some contributing editors to steer the ship and, when the next full-time Blog Manager has been appointed, you will be the first to know.
Well…they’ll probably let the successful candidate know first, but you’ll be informed pretty soon afterwards.
All that’s left from me is to say goodbye, thank you for sticking with us through thick and thin, and keep on enjoying your games.

Thanks James, for all the great work you’ve done, like the store updates, weekend debates, answering comments, and sticking through the critique at tough times with things like the “Payday: The Heist” codes and the PSN outage.
I, and many others, greatly appreciate your work and wish you all the best in your future endeavors

Let me tell you James, that as a reader, I loved to see how you got involved with the community — always noting you guys at the other side of the screen were looking forward to our suggestions to make this blog better, for example.
Hope your future is bright as the day and with not many clouds on sight!

You’re very polite & a generally nice person. The Blog certainly won’t be the same & I hope whoever takes over, has the same mindset as yourself.

Ah I think you just said you’ve actually left now; so probably can’t reply to this :p Anyway Best of Luck I hope this has nothing to do with their earnings call and like a change of direction in marketing etc :/ (although I think you’re tv adverts need to target people other than us and explain features better
for vita anyway
) So are we going to see you appearing anywhere else in the games industry? can you tell us that even if you can’t tell us where it actually is you’re going too; anyway best of luck (right before E3 too :/ )

All the best mate.
I know we’ll keep in touch, but you’ve always been a bastion of awesome bloggery, and PlayStation advocacy, and an absolute pleasure to work alongside/and with.
I’m the sure the good ship PS Blog will continue in good stead, but it’ll always be missing an integral part of it with your absence.

James… Firstly Thnx for the effort and enthusiasm you brought to the blog, as All have allready said it Will be missed, Best wishes (as always) for your new (?) position. Cannot add more to whats been said today allready, nor to the ‘mini-debate’ on this possibility in last saturdays weekly round up.
Ok to business then, I Was expecting this, reason being is that whenever (it seems) EU customers are Really becoming annoyed over regional discrepancies or general poor service, (Not by You, btw.), then ‘some’ clever high grade manager or team from SCE decide, it’s good practice to do some in-house reorganising, noticed it happen with previous manager, And with ‘lower’ (ranking) members of blog.. Just Move ppl around/elsewhere in industry, and buy some ‘breathing space’.. Now i can’t imagine SCE being to obvious..ie promoting/moving you ‘in-house’, Though lately there strategies have left me ‘wondering’. .. Well surely you Know my ‘outlook’ by now, so you know thats just how I see stuff.

One thing i really hope the next manager introduces is some form of moderating the moderators, I did have James support my overly moderated, then allowed x-hours/days later comments And noticed an improvement in the regularity… But it ‘seems’ i am again on the hit-list…. Example.. 30plus modded posts, one delete.. once took 36 hours for a moderator/computer (?) to allow my comment.. Would really like to see some kind of report log made each time a comment is needlesly modded/delayed.. Just out off interest/curiousity etc…
Also be interested to see if my ‘comment’ on this blog gets UN-modded.. or if this one is allowed.
Just another pet hate i got, But they Do have a tendency to build up and multiply… or so i hear.

Finally some fresh air will come but it’s not only the blog that needs a change sony, mostly scee needs a people overhaul, make it happen.
Other than that I wish all the best in your professional career.

I Can understand that comment.. But i just kinda don’t believe it, or think it’s fair, ie. i doubt we’ll get any fresh air by another manager.. maybe a bit of a breeze while he/she introduces and outlines ‘their’ vision, only for things to soon return as they are now.
As for the getting rid or moving of ‘people’ in scee. Very understandable, but again this would just be another short term fix.. imo the people running scee Are doing ok.. But sony/sce itself are the ones who need to give them more people or resources, ie the power to deliver the same service (And content) that other regions ‘seem’ to have had since like forever, i believe that unless sony/sce decide to do away with this regional business model things will Never get better for us.. and ‘may’ even be the end of the EU as their main ‘fanbase’.. But i defo agree that ‘fresh air’ is much needed atm.

People same to be saying nice things, so I think I’ll turn around and be the one that says the bad thing. With no disrespect of course. I could see this coming ages ago, and I’m happy it has come to this, when you see an manager reply to you, like your a pig in a cage, you can’t help but feel happy that things may turn around, clearly he did not enjoy his work, and always had this strange way of posting comments as if he was always grumpy. I hope he approaches people in a more happy giggly way.
I agree with the posts above actually about hopefully getting a woman to be an Manager, Women are far more caring, great with communities, and have this thing about them that people just love and enjoy. Its always sad to see people go but to be honest, sometimes its for the best.
