‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 16 May 2012

*Seeega!*

Sonic+4+fin_PVWIMG

Speeding his way back onto the scene is everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog back in an all new episode of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, aptly titled Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II.

Together with his old friend Tails, you can play either single player or co-op (local or online) with an evolution of Sonic 2′s collaborative mechanics. Use devastating collaborative attacks and combination moves to defeat the united force of Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman.

URL Sonic 4

If that’s not enough, those who own both Episode I and II will gain access to Episode Metal, featuring exclusive levels with Metal Sonic as a playable character. Nice!

Get ready for an all new musical phenomenon. Today, PixelJunk 4am releases for all of you with a PlayStation Move controller and PlayStation Eye camera (both required). Wave your hands in the air to blend sounds together and create your own unique music each time you play, whilst also broadcasting your performance via PlayStation Network.

We’ve also got a new PS2 game, as well as a PSOne game this week.

First up, Deus Ex, originally released on PlayStation 2. In the dystopian future of the year 2052, society slowly spirals into chaos. A lethal virus, the “Gray Death”, ravages the world. The only vaccine, “Ambrosia”, is in such short supply, it is only available to those wealthy enough and deemed “vital to the social order”. With no hope for a cure for the common people, riots occur worldwide and a number of terrorist organizations have formed. As a response, the United Nations has created The United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO). You assume the role of JC Denton, a nanotechnologically augmented UNATCO agent. After completing his training, JC gets slowly plunged into the world of augmentations, human misery, and conspiracies, determined to uncover the truth behind the real world order.

Our PSOne game this week is an addition to the imports section going by the name of Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty. This Japanese fighter is a classic example of the great stable of fighting games that came from PSOne era. Choose from 11 funky Chinese characters as they battle each other for the supreme goal of a unified Middle Kingdom. Each character has his own special powers and weapons. Or you can forgo the weapons and fight like a man with your bare hands! This formidable gem from Japan deserves your attention.

Lastly, there’s also a price drop for Under Siege, now only £3.99!

Nothing much for me this week at all (I’m waiting for Doctor Who next week) which is fine because due to a power cut at a bad time, my PS3 drive got corrupted and had to format the lot and now I’m having to redownload about 400GB of games all over again. And some of my save files didn’t actually get backed up on PS Plus’s online storage like they were supposed to. Most did but a couple really cruicial ones did not. By the way Sony really need to revamp the Downloads list. It’s a pain in the butt when trying to redownload vast quantities of stuff.

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 2:57 pm

Yeah, the download list is definitely something we’re aware of.

turbogeek421 16 May, 2012 @ 1:06 pm   3

Are we ever going to get Motorstorm RC free like they did in the US? Or maybe via Playstation Plus?

Domino2097 16 May, 2012 @ 1:07 pm   4

Wasn’t the Max Payne 3 DLC free in America?

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 2:57 pm

It’s free for EU, too. There was just pricing assigned to it but has been update now.

nathy1991 16 May, 2012 @ 1:07 pm   5

Hi! will Hogs of war ever come to PS-Store?

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:03 pm

    1. We’re always looking to bring over what we can and what is realistically possible.

    2. Discussion do happen. It’s a lot more complicated than it seems.

    3. Don’t know, sorry.

    4. No plans for that sort of functionality yet.

Chapel-Bill 16 May, 2012 @ 1:09 pm   8

Still no Pinball Arcade…. It’s been out in the US for over a month now. Very disappointing.

SoundableObject 16 May, 2012 @ 1:09 pm   9

Was hoping for a Sonic 4 Episode 1 price drop or bundle pack to coincide with the second episode. Only got Episode 1 on 360. Guess I’ll be buying Episode 2 on my 360 too.

Was hoping Sony would be pushing for more Vita PSN games.

Just PixelJunk then

sidepipe 16 May, 2012 @ 1:09 pm   12

Please tell me when Pinball Arcade might be here. The States have had it for over a month now, and apparently its been waiting for approval for Europe by Sony for at least a couple of weeks :(

Olivier007 16 May, 2012 @ 1:10 pm   13

Awesome, getting FFXIII-2 DLC for sure.

Also, last week all the DLC for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves became free in the US. Any chance of that happening here?

Still requesting Chocobo Racing as a PS1 classic.

For PS2 classics, I’d definitely like to see a Timesplitters trilogy, Dark Cloud series and Kingdom Hearts I & II. Get those on the store, and my money is yours ;)

ICaRo_O 16 May, 2012 @ 1:10 pm   14

Nothing for Vita :(

Beyond ridiculous update!!! jawad where are these ‘huge batch’ of capcom avatars?!?

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:18 pm

As I said, these are being submitted and will take time. There are a lot of avatars that need to come through and it will take some time.

OntzettendeJan 16 May, 2012 @ 1:13 pm   21

Any news on the release date of The Pinball Arcade? :/
It’s out it the US for over a month now!

Just another Syphon Filter 2 reminder.

Good to see more imports being released btw.

Jemile 16 May, 2012 @ 1:14 pm   23

Have Sony forgotten they released the Vita?

Amigaguru 16 May, 2012 @ 1:15 pm   24

Where is Pinball Arcade????!!!

noooooo, i am so sick of waiting for Vita games, i have bought 18 so far and i need games that i am into and not just buy games because there is nothing else to play!.

Really depressing to see how the VITA is being neglected, such an awesome release day but after that its been downhill ever since.

please let us know when Pinball Arcade is out or other Vita games now(like the ones PSN US has).

thanks for listening.

PS:nothing for me this week ( i want VITA games ), my PS3 backlog is way too big atmø

Light-and-magic 16 May, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   25

I like how every second comment is about how Europe are getting screwed over. You’d think they’d get the hint by now. Yet still no word on a proper PixelJunk sale in Europe.

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:27 pm

It is unfortunate we weren’t able to match the US on this. Hopefully we’ll revisit the PJ series later on and have other interesting offers for you guys.

DenSchmerz 16 May, 2012 @ 1:16 pm   26

The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy will be available on May 16th, 2012…

Scubafinch 16 May, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   32

I second (or is it third) the comments about Pinball Arcade. A little bit of communication wouldn’t go amiss. Isn’t that why companies hire people for social media / blogs etc.?

Considering the US is a predominantly 360 market, how is it that they seem to get content on time and pretty decent sales (Ubisoft?). Come on guys, let’s see a comparable service to your EU fan-base. AU still getting a raw deal on prices… even with our dollar going south.

I know… moan moan moan… comes from being a whinging pom in the land down under!

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:40 pm

I’ll be chasing Pinball Arcade so hopefully I’ll have something to share soon.

Ubisoft sale I will ask Andy about.

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:46 pm

We’ve done a Ubisoft sale previously but we’d love to do another again when the time is right.

ZaphodUK 16 May, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   33

What a total waste of money the Vita is proving to be. As usual, Sony fail to follow through with any kind of content for their handhelds. Pinball Arcade has been available in both the US on PS3 and the UK on XBox for over a month now, where is the UK PS3 and Vita version?

Are we ever going to see PS2 or PSOne compatability on the Vita? At least that would give us something to play.

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:41 pm

I have no update on PSOne or PS2 compatability for Vita yet.

AndyBeans 16 May, 2012 @ 1:20 pm   34

Jawad, as SCEE have tried to dupe us all with a 50% reduction on the recent PixelJunk sale compared to SCEA’s 90% I am never going to buy another PJ game, including 4am.

Source: Dylan Cuthbert, PJ developer tweeted on Monday “we tried to unify the prices but SCEE have their own rules and 50% was as low as they could go”.

I understand taxes and licensing has an effect on availability and timing of releases, but this is just SCEE treating us like muck! Shame!

dillusion 16 May, 2012 @ 1:21 pm   35

Where can I see the actual prices of the Apocalyptic Sale? They are neither here nor in Andy’s post. I mean like prices in GBP (Was/Is).

MrSmadSmartAlex 16 May, 2012 @ 1:22 pm   36

The PS1 import fighter looks like fun. Might get that this week.

Any news on Legend of Dragoon yet (even if it’s bad)?

Also, are there any plans to put Primal (PS2) up here? It was recommended to me recently. I’d rather use my PS3, but I’ll get the PS2 version if it’s not headed to the EU PSN.

tony27 16 May, 2012 @ 1:22 pm   37

Hi Jawad

Can you please reply. I purchased Max Payne 3 Rockstar Pass at £23.99 but on Friday I noticed that it had gone down to £19.99. I have spoken to your customer services but they say it’s £19.99 plus vat. Can you comfirm the price as it is the first time you add vat after purchase.

Thanks

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:38 pm

The price was lowered quite quickly and anyone who purchased at the higher price is going to be refunded. We are currently working on this issue right now.

Sirpartyboi 16 May, 2012 @ 1:23 pm   38

good selection. hoping soon we could get some info on a youtube app for vita, or a browser update

Capt_Darling 16 May, 2012 @ 1:24 pm   39

I don’t often comment on the blog but this is a truly shocking update. Charging us for Max Payne DLC which is free in the states.
Still no free Uncharted 2 DLC
Massive Ubisoft sale in the US, EU…nothing! (I was looking forward to getting From Dust after avoiding purchase due to the shocking exchange rate).

Plus Rock of Ages.

Oh and are we ever going to get the Resistance 3 air fuel grenade DLC…free in the US.

iTemplario 16 May, 2012 @ 1:24 pm   40

No Sorcery soundtrack in Europe? :(

the1free_man 16 May, 2012 @ 1:24 pm   41

Guys, those of you who are too young to have played Deus ex, or just missed it first time around for some reason, get that game! Trust me, it’s incredible.

AsmodeanBT 16 May, 2012 @ 1:26 pm   42

Nothing interesting, as usual.

And still no Suikoden classics.

MUR0013 16 May, 2012 @ 1:26 pm   43

Max Payne 2?

Cringles88 16 May, 2012 @ 1:27 pm   44

Nothing for me this week. Pity there isn’t any good demos at all.

Really hope a Resistance or Gravity Rush demo comes out before release. Some sort of support, any support at all for the Vita would be welcomed.

Nightmare966 16 May, 2012 @ 1:29 pm   45

Anyone wondering on Ratchet & Clank Trilogy, last week it was revealed that it’s been postponed for June (Amazon UK has the right date).

On the other hand, any news on those Sonic avatars we were promised on the latest Sonic 4 Ep 2 post? Or are those already there and I haven’t noticed?

And last, any news on the flOw soundtrack? It’s sytrange it hasn’t released here yet, there were no issues with the Journey one :(

Thanks in advance Jawad :)

Ragnarok-NZ 16 May, 2012 @ 1:29 pm   46

Hi Jawad. Any chance that we will see Silent Hill Shattered Memories or Origins on PSN?
I’d like to be able to play them on my Vita.
And any news on psone compatibility for the Vita?

kivi95 16 May, 2012 @ 1:30 pm   47

Where is pinball arcade?

Oh and how about releasing Silent Hill Shattered Memories as a ps2 classic?

AlexPSN89 16 May, 2012 @ 1:31 pm   48

@ Jawad:

Hi there! Nice update, with Sonic… which ineveitably prompts my question: this week, instead of whining about Spyro (by the way, any news?), I’d like to ask why the 2D Sonic games (Sonic The Hedgehog CD and the two episodes of Sonic The Hedgehog 4) are limited to the PS3 only, considering the PSP has, essentially, more or less the same power as the PS2.

My problem, personally, is that… er, I own a PS1, a PS2 and a PSP, but no PS3, and even if I did, I’d rather play those games on a handheld anyway, so my question is… aside from the obvious (Rivals), will the 2D Sonic games ever see the light of day on a PSP? Because I’m not quite playing my PSP as much as other consoles lately, and those games would help a lot if they ever become available on PSP.

Thanks in advance. :-)

    Jawad Ashraf 16 May, 2012 @ 3:44 pm

Different format, different development environment and other sorts of technical barriers.

Mister_G 16 May, 2012 @ 1:31 pm   49

Good update thanks.
