Read this on the American blog a couple of days ago! I’ll blame the Olympics on the delay.

Finally got the platinum trophy on both Metal Gear 2, and 3 last month. So it will be nice to have this along side it; some VERY difficult trophies too!

A HD port of Twin Snakes with trophy support would be VERY much appreciated too though…

I’d love to see more games companies go back and add new features and improvements to old games – increase the longevity of the product.

Doing so without DLC not only pleases the fanbase but encourages more people to buy the game!

This patch is the ultimate reason for people to play MGS4 again. I really am going to try and get the platinum for this.

As much as I like the Solid Snake character I don’t enjoy the games themselves too much (I’m not a stealth fan and found the cutscenes over long and intrusive), however it is nice to see a trophy update for a pre-trophy game even this long after the game came out.

Glad to see a creative list, not just complete on hard, extra hard or reach this level, or get so many kills with a weapon. I didn’t even know half of these were possible! Kiss ocelot?

Already have my plat for MGS2 and close to it on MGS3 (need no kill playthrough)
Dunno if I’ll ever get this plat though.

It may look simple on the surface but you need to obtain every emblem, including Big Boss.

Also this isn’t a complete list as it doesn’t include the hidden trophies. There’s a complete list here:

I’m not sure how accurate the hidden ones are but since people have obtained them I’d assume it’s legit.

@BluSpykz I think Nintendo had a fair bit of involvement with the development of Twin Snakes, so we’re unlikely to ever see it on Sony platforms.

Anyway, trophies are cool, though I think I’ll have to take a pass on the platinum… Getting all those mp3s sounds like a bit too much.

I’ve waited for this for such a long time. I’m a huge trophy buff & it will be so great to get Platinum for one of my favourite games ever Like Mulukh said, I didn’t know some of these were possible too & it will be quite a challenge to get these too. Yes thanks I download it very early & still not playedwhat it yet had a quick go to see what FULL install does it got 3 install settings.

but im doing MGS-PW 1st then MGS2 or later i shall go on MGS4.

Better late than never. Is it live now? And please don’t take the complaints about ‘cutscenes being too long’ seriously for future development. Outsourcing Rising was hard enough to swallow..

I hope its not just a trophy patch but also cleans up a few things, such as a full install option, chapter select and removal of MGO (which is now shutdown)

The update is live now and is 517MB. It adds fall install and removes online.

This will be my 6th MGS plat Nice and easy with the exception of the iPod trophy which requires all emblems, some of the emblems are a complete chore that get boring to grind through.

@rospondek trophy description says songs that can be acquired by password don’t count, and that one can be acquired by password.

In two minds over this.With MGO shut down I’m not sure i’ll buy it again.It’s weird timing.

@26 must be all 3 ps3 hd collection an 2 hd ps vita collection then top it off wit mgs4

@21 – it says collect all tracks except those that can be unlocked with a password, that one can be unlocked with a password so isn’t needed for the trophy

It was a strange feeling getting my 1st MGS4 Trophy today + it had to be the “Handle with Caution” one to(Poor statues willy…)

@Jamesyp00 yeah Malocca got it right, MGS2 and 3 for Vita, MGS2, 3 and PW for PS3 and now MGS4. Won’t be too long before Metal Gear Rising is out too

Mr. kojima must be out of his mind. This game is way too long to have “time consuming trophies”. I thought of cleaning the dust of this game but now I’m sure I’ll let it be getting even more dust.

Good luck for those willing to waste long periods of time and play it through probably more 3/4 times just to get the plat.

I would be puking MGS after the 2nd playtrough (that if I even completed it) even if you jump over all the cutscenes the game is way too long to be playing it over and over. I think this is a stupid trophy, anyway, good thing I’m not a trophy hunter anyway.

I guess you can improve on perfection.

It’s extremely late but at least it’s an excuse to finish the game for the… 9th time? I don’t remember.

Geez, why hide trophies? Why not keep it clean, like MGS2 HD and MGS3 HD did? Earning trophies is something that should not involve looking blindly in the game or looking everything up online. Give us clear objectives so that it’s about skill, not luck or gamefaqs proficiency.

Also, I must say that MGS4 trophy set features the ugliest icons I’ve seen in a long, long time. MGS2 HD and MGS3 HD have great icons so I really don’t get it…

Usually hidden trophies are story related, so you won’t miss them but there hidden so to not spoil the story itself.

In this case thou not much story just beat each act.

Hidden trophies are OK if they are about the story. Actually, story-related stuff is the only plausible reason to hide a trophy.

MGS4 has just a few story-related hidden trophies. The rest is for obscure stuff that shouldn’t be hidden because it becomes random that way and randomness has nothing to do with skills. I guess they do this stuff on purpose. After all, my MGS4 copy came with a flyer nagging you to buy the official guide for Easter Eggs and hidden items.

So when are they gonna be available here in Eire/EU?

They’ve added trophies but still no unskippable cut scenes ? meh il wait another 4 years for that then

I got some of the hidden non-story ones. Total randomness. It’s pointless to have trophies like that. They bring the entire set down. You’d think that 4 years is more than enough to think of a good trophy set, but I guess not for Koji Pro…

Hidden trophies are the bane of video games.

@Ryusennin: The problem is that too many game developers mistake Easter eggs for trophies. Easter eggs should be obscure, hidden etc. Trophies should not be like Easter eggs at all. They should be gameplay-related and free of the luck factor. Otherwise, you didn’t really earn anything. The only reason to hide a trophy is when it relates to the story and cannon be missed. Using that option for Easter eggs is just pointless because you either get them by sheer luck or by checking guides.

Just to let you all know, as there seems to be some confusion on what the full 9GB install does:

Removes the need to install between acts allowing smooth gameplay & skippable cut scenes!
