LittleBigPlanet At Gamescom 2012

LittleBigPlanet Vita

Gamescom 2012 is currently in progress and LittleBigPlanet is making a huge noise there, thanks to our brand new titles LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting. To celebrate the occasion, we have just a few treats to give you!

LittleBigPlanet DLC Costume Cross-Compatibility!
Customisation is a BIG part of LittleBigPlanet. Being able to modify your Sackboy or Sackgirl is a way for players to personalise their experience, while also bringing a variety of different franchises and entertainment properties into the LBP universe. We recognise this and have decided that we can’t ask all you LittleBigPlaneteers to fully enjoy the upcoming LittleBigPlanet PS Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting without an amazing assortment of costumes at your disposal.

So….we’re going to let you bring the costumes that you bought for LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 along with you…..for no extra cost!

Not only that, but for any new costumes that take your fancy, you will only ever need to purchase the costume once and you’ll have access to it across LittleBigPlanet 2, LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, and LittleBigPlanet Karting!

If you’ve forgotten just how fabulous you could look in LittleBigPlanet, why don’t you go and check out all the costumes we’ve released to-date and have a little window shop whilst we rush back to LittleBigPlanet HQ and make everything just perfect for you.

Here’s the small print:
There is a heck of a lot of costumes and it’s going to take us a little while to get them all tailored, pressed, and packaged up. You will get some at launch and then we’ll be adding the rest later on, but rest assured you will get them!

Also, we’re not going to be able to bring either of the Assassin’s Creed costumes (Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed II & Assassin’s Creed Revelations) or the April Fools Fragrance Costume to LittleBigPlanet Karting at this time, but all the other downloadable costumes will be available so there’s no excuse for not turning heads as you gad about and race through the Omniverse.

why is it called Littlebig Plannet PS Vita? what a boring name!

    Steven Isbell 16 August, 2012 @ 3:35 pm

The most obvious reason being that it’s a brand new LittleBigPlanet game on the PS Vita. :)

One other key reason is that we actually did consider for some time giving the game a unique subtitle, however we just couldn’t find one that we liked that would work across all languages. So we decided that simplifying the title to LittleBigPlanet PS Vita was the best option.

Some of our more dedicated Sack Detectives from the community may even be able to tell you what one of those other subtitles may have been. ;)

Well done MM for allowing me to only purchase once, im glad i didnt have to buy costumes for every game, Does anyone know where i could find some gamescom footage of crossplay?

I noticed that Sackboy had a Parappa the Rappa costume as his special on Battle Royale (I assume his special is directly related to the level he’s on http://i.imgur.com/G7wVL.png). Any chance of there being Battle Royale costume packs? Happy to hear we’re getting all of our costumes across so many titles! Keep up the good work.

We already have a whole host of the PlayStation All-Stars in LittleBigPlanet including Jak & Daxter, Kratos and Cole McGrath to name but a few!

Are there any others in particular that you would really love to see in LittleBigPlanet?

Bouncybhall 16 August, 2012 @ 3:51 pm   4

Bravo!

Bravo indeed!

I expected no less from MM in this matter, you’ve continually rewarded the community for their support.

As for the comment that the title is ‘boring’ I would question whether of not that was supposed to be a joke. Is Super Mario Bros. 3 a ‘boring’ title? It’s not a sequel, so negates the purpose of numerical accoutrement, and it’s part of a close series of games that share assets and features. I call ALL titles, with the exception of Karting, ‘LittleBigPlanet’ and view them as one big experience to be, well, experienced in differing ways on differing devices, but always retaining what it was that made me fall in love with all things Sack-related.

Is there any update on whether people who buy LBP vita will be getting all the retail pre order goodies? It would be nice if you reward people who download the game so more cash goes to the developers and Sony.

QUESTION:
I bought the beautifull LBP2 special edition (US only) and I already had the US version of LBP1. All DLC is ofcourse also from the US store because they are region locked and MUCH cheaper on the US store.
My main account for my PS3 and Vita are NL. Will all be compatible or is it regionlocked. If so I won’t buy LBPVita.

    Steven Isbell 16 August, 2012 @ 4:19 pm

DLC will continue to be region-locked.

So you will need to purchase your DLC from the regional PlayStation Store that caters to your LittleBigPlanet games.

Now I have to get lbp1 costumes again anyway, aah :P

Replying to the All-Stars costume question: Well, just…all of them! You could be super-meta and have a Sackboy Sackboy costume. The Parappa costume is just the cutest. Looking forward to the BioShock costumes!

oh… Interesting.

How come the Assassin’s creed costumes cant be ported? is there a technical reason or… licensing?

Eclispe2025 16 August, 2012 @ 5:17 pm   10

my guess with the assassin’s creed costumes would be licensing. and finally a confirmation that costumes can be imported!!! to both as well Thank you Media Molecule!!! now just to pop a few things up while im here:
-first since costumes are coming does that mean all other collectables can be imported as well or will they be left out? (i.e stickers, objects, etc…)
-second is can we expect third party games such as mass effect (series) costumes, and anime style costumes (naruto, bleach, etc…) in the near future? (i would kill to run around as a ‘sack’ commander shepard, or ‘sack’ legion).
-lastly do you plan on doing anymore giveaways for the lbp beta vest and/or lbp hat? (i would kill to get those as well!)

thanks for continuing such an awesome series!!

Azman007 16 August, 2012 @ 5:57 pm   11

I have a question which i really want to know.

I have purchased some costumes on my dads account which is on my ps3 meaning i can use them because his accounts on my ps3, but since you can only have one account on a play station vita does that mean i cant use the costumes i brought on his account? Also will the costumes in my lbp goty carry over since they are on the disk and not downloadable?

thank you

Super_Clone 16 August, 2012 @ 10:28 pm   12

Unlike on the EU Blog, there were no mentions of a LBPV bundle on the US counterpart of this update. Any news on if that carries over to the US? That was one of the few reasons I wouldn’t just wait for a price drop. Oh, and any news on if there’ll be a LBPV and/or LBPK Collector’s Edition? Also, does anyone know or care to tell if Story Mode costumes transfer?

I have some question here I would be more than glad to get answers on.

1. Will there be a LBP Vita launch
T-shirt?

2. Will there be a LBP Karting launch T-shirt?

3. Will the cross-controller pack be free?

4. Will the LBP psp data and dlc be transfered over to LBP Vita?

5. Will we be able to transfer objects that uses some of the new features or power-ups over to LBP2

6. Will we be able to play with people on LBP Vita with LBP2, and other way around?

7. Will items, costumes, stickers and decorations you collect in story mode be able to be tranfered over to LBP2?

8. Will we be able to play LBP Vita community levels on LBP2?

So…are the lbp2 story costumes going to be in lbp vita?
I beat the STORY %100 (the game is un-beatable *wink)to get all the costumes for vita.

* You say DLC costumes from LBP2 will be compatible with cross-platform. But it will also available for Story Mode costumes and DLC costumes from LBP1 ?

* It concerns only the costumes ? No materials, objects or stickers ?

No full cross-platform for the content and perhaps I’ll not buy LBP Vita.

BRANDON-BARTIE 17 August, 2012 @ 8:14 am   16

Are you planning on making any DLC exclusive to LBP Vita? Such as an Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation costume or a Gravity Rush costume?

Will any stickers from costume packs, such as the Assassin’s Creed costume, also carry over? Or only the costume?

And are you going to release an Assassin’s Creed 3 costume for all games… soon?

I can’t wait until September 19th! :D

supersmith2500 17 August, 2012 @ 3:22 pm   17

Hope it doesn’t fail like the PSP version, the PSP version’s story is short.

Any news about PSN availablity of LBP Vita? I want to know the details of the filesize, price, any pre order bonuses, cause if they’re all fine, I may buy it off PSN, but if not, I guess it’ll have to be GAME, as much as I hate them, ha ha.

lbp1 is great but lbp2 is the best in this catagory
