Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC Out Tomorrow

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC for PS3

The BioWare team loves Commander Shepard as much as the fans do, so after we shipped Mass Effect 3, we were excited to start creating additional content that would expand on Shepard’s adventures during the Mass Effect 3 experience. Downloadable content gives us an opportunity to do just that — it gives us the chance to write new chapters that add to Shepard’s legacy without disrupting the consistency of the full game. We approach DLC differently depending on whether it’s single player or multiplayer content, but with both, we aim to hit an extremely high quality bar to make sure the fans continue to get the full Mass Effect experience.

For multiplayer, we consider Mass Effect 3′s offerings to be more of a service than a product you purchase. We always said that we wouldn’t do multiplayer in our games unless it was done properly, and supporting it fully well after launch is something we are committed to.

The ideas behind Resurgence, Rebellion and Earth were simple: we want to keep the community engaged in our game, keep the content fresh, and most importantly, we want to foster a level of progression that is synonymous with Mass Effect. Fantasy fulfillment has always been something that is extremely important to us, even in multiplayer. Allowing players to do awesome things in the Mass Effect universe that work well outside of Commander Shepard’s narrative is important. Adding amazing new weapons like the Cerberus Harrier or classes like the N7 Shadow were all about that.

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC for PS3

Of course, story-based DLC has always been a part of the Mass Effect pedigree. At BioWare, it’s part of our culture to create emotionally charged stories for our fans. We always aim to deliver an impactful narrative while offering the player’s choice. This is challenging, but it is also extremely rewarding for us. As mentioned before, when we shipped Mass Effect 3, we knew there were many opportunities within the universe for us to tell new stories. Mass Effect 3: From Ashes, our first single player DLC, is a great example of how we were able to visit a new era in the Mass Effect universe. From Ashes also allowed our fans to gain a new squad member with Javik, something that has become signature in our previous DLC packs.

And that’s why Mass Effect 3: Leviathan is so exciting for us! It gives us the chance to jump back into Commander Shepard’s story, and to continue exploring some of the themes that are important to the trilogy, including the origin of the Reapers. We wanted to make sure that we delivered content to the fans that was unlike anything we had ever done before. Leviathan is all about exploration and mystery. Players don’t know where the story will take them next, and they’re pushed to explore these new fantastic locations that they’ve never seen.

Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC for PS3

In addition to these new worlds, Leviathan is full of great new characters that help Shepard unravel the mystery of Leviathan. Players get to interact with these characters through more than 2,000 new lines of recorded dialogue and dozens of new cinematic sequences. If it’s combat and gameplay that you’re after, Leviathan delivers on that too. Players will dive into an adventure that will challenge their abilities, and they’ll be given the chance to unlock two weapons previously only available to pre-order customers earlier this year.

We’re proud to bring Mass Effect 3: Leviathan to our fans. Grab it when it goes live on PSN tomorrow, and let us know what you think!

Did you enjoy this?

Looking forward to try it out! Thanks chaps.

While PC, Xbox worldwide and PS3 in the US get it today… we need to wait until tomorrow because… you don’t change your strange 1 day delay for the euro store… Thanks, regards the PS3 players of Mass Effect 3 in Europe.

i got mass effect 3 yesterday and was waiting for this so i can start the game with all DLC :)<<<<…man on a mission to save earth

mass effect 3 on summer sales NOW & you are crazy if you don't buy it at that price

Will there be a store update list on here for tomorrow some time time today?

As much as I would love to play this, they don’t deserve my money for making me unable to finish a MP map for 5 months, after changing internet providers and opening ports, EA still seem to hate me, server wise.

On a side note, I wish to see CS & Walking Dead, but alas my interest will be gone when they’re “delayed”.

Thanks fred!

Does anyone know how much the DLC will cost?

WildRushSykes 28 August, 2012 @ 5:48 pm   8

£7.99 on PSN according to Game and 800 MS Points on 360 = £6.49. Cheaper on 360 for some reason……hmmmm

Sorry for little offtopic but there isn’t any form of contact with you here on playstation.blog.

I have a question about the forgotten stuff for the PSP, why Ultimate Ghosts ‘n Goblins isn’t on EU PS Store, but it is on US?! Can someone explain me that unforgivable omission. That game is EPIC! and I want it on my Vita asap.

I can’t believe that no one ask about it earlier:( Please for a god sake put that game on store or I leave Sony forever…Hahaha you know that’s not true, but c’mon Sony you gotta do something! Best regards from Poland fun of yours,ok ok enough

@ MA76_666 or Anyone with opinion/advice.
Am not really sure you will benefit from waiting to get this dlc Before you start, or even finish ME3 itself. It’s not (i believe ?) going to work out as a similar sp dlc from other games would, i mean i ain’t certain but i just think this (dlc) was/is really meant to be played After you have finished the story, well for it to be really .. erm worthwile i guess. i mean the size/ choices allready in ME3, including From Ashes, which you should of got with your copy, as it was new etc, or didn’t ps store include this, ? anyway the ME3/From the Ashes is going to be big by itself. and starting a new/first game with Levanthian dlc As well, imo may ruin the core game, tbh, i wouldn’t be surprised if you Can’t play, or access it till After you have finished at least one playthrough of ME3, Then theres the ‘alternate’ ending to playthrough, IF you want, though i am prob wrong (again).. anyway i hope you still have your ME2 save to give you a good start, IF you liked whatever class you was in that etc, have fun saving the Earh m8..

MA76_666 28 August, 2012 @ 9:02 pm   13

@ chrisandsheva

you r spot on m8 the dlc is played after you done the story which is my plan

From Ashes is not included but the game was 26.99 with PS+ discount so was a good deal for me

It appears Bioware decided not to release Leviathan after all, I checked Playstation store and it’s not there, I also checked Bioware.com and there’s no new information. They could at least post something in the news category saying their not going to release it or that it’s been delayed.

I forgot to add that Leviathan was scheduled to be released on 08/28/12 for US it’s actually 5:55 pm here, so I’m guessing that bioware either delayed release until 08/29/12 or they’re not releasing it at all.

Let us all just face the truth guys. You know there’s going to be some sort of problem that causes SCEE not to post this online today.

Sick of this [CENSORED FOR THE DELICATE BLOG STAFF] every week.

Bring back James Gallagher. Credit where it’s due, he ALWAYS communicated with the European gamers, and explained any problems as best he could.

But Fred? Nothing. Nadda. Zip. [CENSORED AGAIN FOR DELICATE EYES]!!!!!

It’s a decent add-on. Don’t expect it to change that terrible ending, but on the gameplay alone, it was good.

Why you deleted my question? CS:GO out today?

Jamesyp00 29 August, 2012 @ 12:59 pm   20

What’s the point when it still does nothing to change that awful ending?
I kept my copy till the extended cut came out but it really wasn’t much better, traded it in right after.
Horrible way to end a franchise.

camowens46 29 August, 2012 @ 1:08 pm   21

Is this DLC available yet? It is not yet live on the PSN in the UK? (as off 1pm 29th August)

    Fred Dutton 29 August, 2012 @ 1:29 pm

It will go live with the weekly Store update later this afternoon – usually around 4pm.

Archangel357 29 August, 2012 @ 1:13 pm   22

So, any good reason why the Americans got it yesterday, and we still haven’t (29/08 1:13pm GMT)? Should we just be content being second-class citizens?

Jamesyp00 29 August, 2012 @ 1:17 pm   23

@Archangel Our store doesn’t update till around 4pm on wednesday, it’s just a time zone thing is all.

massivephilg 29 August, 2012 @ 1:19 pm   24

Please tell us along with this we will get Counter Strike GO today ????????????????

Stonesthrow 29 August, 2012 @ 4:19 pm   25

Looking great as always. I still like the second better because it was made for ps3 in particular at a later time, just like the first Bioshock. Can really feel the difference technically. I wish they did this for more multiplatformers on ps3, wouldn’t even mind a later release date because of it.

izensuske 29 August, 2012 @ 6:26 pm   26
