Behind the scenes with Wonderbook: Book of Spells

bookofspells

We are nearly a month from launch now – you can mostly tell that from the mix of excitement and exhaustion in our offices… but above all we cannot wait to bring this product to households from mid-November.

Continuing on the ‘Making of’ series for Wonderbook: Book of Spells, our second instalment tells the story of how the structure of the book was put together.

Of course, the book itself is from the world of Harry Potter – and is the result of our first creative collaboration with J.K. Rowling. Book of Spells is a spellbook that teaches a student wizard over 20 spells, including Lumos and Wingardium Leviosa. However, with this book you get much more than just that.

Learning to cast the gestures, utter the incantations and practise your newly acquired abilities is the practical part of the tuition you receive when you start to learn. There are also little histories or ‘anecdotes’ that the book will relay to you, showing what happens when you use a spell incorrectly, or sometimes the origin of the spell. Featuring brand new writing from J.K. Rowling, Wonderbook: Book of Spells is an interactive reading experience that the whole family will enjoy.

If you have not yet managed to get your hands on Wonderbook: Book of Spells at one of our events, then sit back and let our London Studio developers explain what happens when you turn the page for the first time.

Did you enjoy this?

While the Wonderbook is kinda an interesting name and subject. When will other titles such as ”Diggs Nightcrawler” and ”Walking with Dinosaurs” be released then? Hope the PS Eye quality gets improved too.

    Hey Supersmith2500,

Diggs and Walking with Dinosaurs have not been given official release dates yet from us, but more information will follow in due course.

    Thanks

best educational series(?) i ever saw…

Are we ever going to get an HD ps eye camera? Becuase right now I see no reason to get this if the camera is (CENSORED).

I know the PS eye neads to recognise the symbols on the pages but would it be possible to make it look more attractive then it looks now. It transforms on screen but you often need to look at the bloks on the boring book.
Also how much replaybility is in there?

As a sign of my frustration with the store and blog staff, And anger at the way we are treated and scammed I will be boycotting the store and convincing others to do the same until you show us the respect we deserve as your paying customers.

Examples being,
– Blog staff ignoring important or useful questions.
– Replying to the same questions, sometimes on the same page.
– Inability to provide us with information (TWD, CS:GO)
– Promoting content, then on release saying its delayed.
– Promoting deals that don’t work and don’t fix (Dead Island).
– Releasing Content, then announce a discount a week later (WWE13).
– 95% of the PS2 games are garbage, release good games.
– Charging ridiculous amounts for digital games.
– Charging more than the US Store, Content should be equally priced.
– Forced to have a Singstar icon on the XMB.
– Feel free to add more
- SINGSTAR
- SINGSTAR
- AND AGAIN SINGSTAR!!!!

@kieranmarsh
I find this information your saying is very disgraceful coming in here saying PlayStation blog staff don’t do this and don’t do that your talking lies okay.
Heres what you are going to

Clear off stop making such rude and stupid comments which are completely off topic
Show respect for goodness sake I expect better of people who comment on blog posts and also learn manners and don’t do that again if you did this in another blog people would straight away report you for such nasty comments.

Also what is the problem forced to have Singstar you had the choice to install it if you wanted to and Singstar is a great game to have might not be everybody’s type but you could still have a go at it and you got it for FREE!

One last thing all of these points you have made are all invalid and there not charging ridiculous amounts of money for digital games I bought Little big planet 2 last month with my psn wallet for 19 pound so it wasn’t that much ok so don’t criticise PlayStation blog staff again it’s just not on ok thank you for your time.

declan__watson 6 November, 2012 @ 9:56 pm   14

@kieranmarsh
I also don’t think blog staff would just ignore you they will get back to you as soon as they can sony say they ignore you because that’s just not on now don’t let me catch you saying such lies in any other blogs I am on.
Thank you
