When Vikings Pre-Order!

WVA_banner_2_Transparent_no_smoke

Hey everyone… did you know it’s just under a week until the launch of When Vikings Attack on PSN?!
We’re pretty excited… are you? If you are then we’d recommend that you take the chance now and pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store ASAP because in the run-up to launch we are offering a 30% discount to all users who pre-order!

So head to the PS3 store and either do a search for When Vikings Attack! Or go to the ‘Most Popular’ section and check the pre-order charts. Choose to buy the game and when it’s launched on the 7th you’ll only pay £5.49/€6.99 instead of the full price £7.99/€9.99 for BOTH versions of the game!
What are you waiting for?!

If you don’t know about the game already here’s the full final feature breakdown:

Quest Mode

  • 15 frantic arcade Quest levels following the exploits of a hapless band of British villagers as they fight back the Viking Hoards across village fetes, rural countryside, inner cities, fish and chip shops and sea side attractions. All can be played offline, online and cross play with 1 to 4 players
  • Collect 62 unlockable villagers as you progress by finding them and taking them safely to the end of a stage. This includes the famous 3 competition winners
  • Transfer your saves seamlessly between PSVita and PS3 using Cross-Save
  • Score, time and death challenges for each stage
  • Leaderboards for all levels

Vs. Mode

  • 3 challenging Vs. game modes for 2 to 4 players
  • Last Man Standing – A classic every man for themselves battle mode
  • Vikings Vs. Vigilantes – 2v2 team battles
  • Goldrush – An every man for themselves battle with a twist. There are special objectives, first to meet all objectives wins
  • 20 unique Vs. levels playable in all above game modes each including different weapons and environmental hazards ranging from conveyer belts, busy car filled roads, warp pipes and cliff edges
  • All game modes and levels are playable, online, offline and on Cross-Play with PSVita and PS3

WVA_banner_1_Transparent

And how do the Cross features work you ask?

Well first we have Cross-Buy… This one is simple! Just buy the game on either the PS3 or PSVita store and you will instantly be given both versions for no extra cost. Just check your download list on either platform to get access to it.

Cross-Play is also simple; it’s a totally seamless experience. When you go online with either the PS3 or PSVita and enter multiplayer matchmaking you will simply be dropped into a game no matter what system you or the other players are on. It just works… no special menus, no special set-up, just turn on and play.

Finally we have Cross-Save, basically when you are playing and your system is connected to the internet it will upload your save files as soon as a save game is made or updated. Once online the save files merge and as soon as you turn on the game on another platform with the same PSN account it will automatically download and merge the save again meaning that you have to do nothing other than be online.

Our goal from the start was always to make a simple pick-up and play game so we have done our best to make all these new features as seamless and simple to use as possible. Nothing should get in the way of fun!

So please enjoy When Vikings Attack! Play it with friends, play it alone, play it online, play it offline or play it via Cross-Play on PSVita and PS3, just enjoy it!

The game is available for Pre-order right now on PSN and will be released on the 7th of November across Europe.

Did you enjoy this?

Nice! Can I side with the Vikings? (Time to attack those Londoners!)

Catkiller1 2 November, 2012 @ 4:11 pm   2

Will this actually be released then though or delayed a month or two after we’ve paid!

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 6:51 pm

Hey… Have I ever let you down before? :-)

Really though, it’s through submissions now and ready to go! The dev team and I have done everything we can to make sure it happens. Have faith!

almighty-slayer 2 November, 2012 @ 4:20 pm   3

Great stuff. Preordered weeks ago, as soon as it was available. Looking forward to the game :)

left4bread3 2 November, 2012 @ 4:26 pm   4

Id advise people to never preorder from PSN as they’ll most likely delay it without telling you.

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 6:53 pm

I can’t speak for games without Vikings in them but this one is ready to go so short of some massive disaster it’s coming on time!

left4bread3 2 November, 2012 @ 4:27 pm   5

it looks good tho ;)

PSN+ discount?

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 6:54 pm

Pre-order discount my friend! Get it now if you want it cheap.

There will be a nice dynamic theme for + users though.

pre-ordered when this first came up i did it without much thought but after seeing the latest trailer and such im well glad i have it looks brilliant fun :)

quick question do the ps3 and vita share a trophy list or are trophy’s earned on both titles?

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 6:56 pm

    Thanks for pre-ordering!

This will be one of the first games to support shared trophy sets so earn it on PS3 and you get it on Vita as well.

Gamesgbkiller 2 November, 2012 @ 4:48 pm   8

Looks fun!
Totally going to pre-order this ASAP!
Just need to buy PSN card

Already have it pre-ordered :D

silmorat1 2 November, 2012 @ 5:17 pm   10

I also pre ordered this a few weeks back, checked my download list today and the trial works on the ps3! This is gonna be ace fun on my vita.

Looking forward to this from the very first screenshot. I hope you sell millions.

TheWeeSteev 2 November, 2012 @ 6:07 pm   12

Obviously this was an instant pre-order as it looks ace and having just read the 10 things post on the US blog I now know how much work went into it. The timing is ideal too as I’m doing a lot of overtime at work right now so this’ll help with my commute on the vita and as an added bonus my son can play against me from home on the PS3, score!

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 8:10 pm

There’s a box quote for you! “When Vikings Attack, bringing families together” :P

kieranmarsh 2 November, 2012 @ 6:55 pm   13

yeah but more importantly… when will i get a singstar icon on my vita??

Original23 2 November, 2012 @ 7:22 pm   14

Is there a way for me to preorder this if i’m a Vita owner who doesn’t have a PS3????

    Neil McPhillips 2 November, 2012 @ 8:11 pm

Really sorry, the store team tell me that we can’t do pre-orders on the PSVita store right now.

I hope you still buy the game when it’s out though.

Gamesgbkiller 2 November, 2012 @ 8:54 pm   15

You said its €6.99 if you order it ?
Well . its 8.99$ in my store .. is there a difference ?
Still pre order it :)

Voodoo341 2 November, 2012 @ 9:08 pm   16

I’m preordering nothing from SCEE thanks. They can’t be trusted. I’ll notch this up as more evidence SCEE have stopped giving discounts to PSN+ subs as they promised at the launch of the service. You can keep the dynamic theme ‘my friend’ 99.9% are rubbish.

    Neil McPhillips 3 November, 2012 @ 11:11 am

Seems a little harsh but everyone’s got their opinions. Hope you eventually at least try the game though.

chrisboers 2 November, 2012 @ 9:14 pm   17

Just pre-ordered this, if only for your PS3-Vita double-whopper deal. Thanks for the Vita support! :-)

chrisboers 2 November, 2012 @ 9:16 pm   18

(On a side-note, is Mr Dutton allright? Haven’t seen a post from him in a while, nor a weekend debate post. Hope you are just very busy, and not ill like a few weeks again)

MordecaiHunter 2 November, 2012 @ 9:41 pm   19

Cross-Buy is great thanks, i will be playing it mostly on the vita,

Looking forward to the vS Mode

diNtiPatrik 2 November, 2012 @ 9:52 pm   20

So if I am PSVita owner that this game no bought in pre-order price ? :( (Sorry my english is bad)

    Neil McPhillips 3 November, 2012 @ 11:13 am

Yeah, really sorry about that. The PSVita store doesn’t yet let us do pre-orders. We have something coming up for our loyal Vita owners though! Don’t despair.

chrisandsheva 2 November, 2012 @ 10:04 pm   21

re: missing weekend debate, perhaphs the thought of Not offering 10 or so AC3 or Liberations games as prizes would mean, best just skip it this week ?, as a, really can’t see Fred puttin those up as a prize. b, guess if he offered ‘alternatives’ ‘some’ ppl may bring point a up, ie Wheres the proper prize, .. but i guess am risking posting this as it seems a lot of ppl like using the word entitled, when they have a different view.. still Have to laugh though, when i am labeled such, i mean IF it was possible to know someone through their posts, well, am sure many others would Have to laugh as well.
Above said, i also hope All’s well with Mr D

supersmith2500 2 November, 2012 @ 10:07 pm   22

@chrisandsheva:
Yeah, I wonder where’s Fred today? He usually does the weekend debate every Friday.

GRomulus91 2 November, 2012 @ 11:36 pm   23

CANNOT WAIT! suggesetion though guys … maybe advertise the scope of the game – il preorder regardless just for support but i dont think many people know that there is some good depth to be had – eg bosses and stage types, i thought it was more basic—- excellent work guys its looking good

chrisboers 3 November, 2012 @ 11:34 am   24

Quite weird.. I pre-ordered Vikings, and got a message it would be auto-delivered on the 7th. Today, I have my brandnew Vikings icon, but it only launches the trial (of course), AND the Vita download, which I cannot transfer to my Vita, until the 7th. So, now I not only have a Singstar icon I can’t use, I also have two extra tempting icons of a game I purchased, of a finished product, which I cannot start for nearly a week…

The agony!

@above: Yes, Fred has gone AWOL, he hasn’t posted a single message in a few days, and no weekend debate, nor a weekly overview. I hope he’s just very, very busy, and not terribly ill or something…

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 11:16 am

Yeah, basically because we got the game done on time (a rare thing) it was up and ready to go so got downloaded to everyone early. You can’t play till release date though… sorry, I know that must be agony seeing it but not being able to play it!!

S-o-h-a-i-l 3 November, 2012 @ 11:40 am   25

The game looks really fun – only problem is, I’ve learnt not to pre-order new IP games, only because you just never know. So sadly, I’ll miss the pre-order price, but if the game gets positive feedback, I’ll be sure to jump in, hope you understand :)

chrisboers 3 November, 2012 @ 12:05 pm   26

@S-o-h-a-i-l: The game is already in the store, so there really is no risk of SCEE delaying it… Go and support them, and buy it!

S-o-h-a-i-l 3 November, 2012 @ 1:10 pm   27

Sorry, I did not mean I do not pre-order games because of delays. I meant I don’t pre-order ‘new IPs’ (neither from the PS Store, or actual retailers) as you can never be sure of a new games success simply from gameplay – unless you’ve played it yourself, or have played earlier instalments (if its a sequel).

e.g. I would not pre-order Dishonoured for example, regardless of it looking excellent, because it may fall to pieces when I actually get my hands on it whereas I would pre-order Assassins Creed 3 because I know of the games previous success and know how the game plays.

Voodoo341 3 November, 2012 @ 2:24 pm   28

How can you expect people to preorder this when they’ve no idea how the game plays? Stick up a demo with the preorder and let them try it first. Would you give anyone who preorders and doesn’t like the game when it arrives a refund? I seriously doubt it. Why not put your money where your mouth is if you’re so confident about the game? If it gets a Metacritic score <80 then anyone who preordered can get a refund.

jasea3632 3 November, 2012 @ 4:01 pm   29

Hi how am I supposed to pre order this when I just have a vita

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 11:17 am

Sorry, we wanted to do it but there is a store limitation :(

We will be delivering a free patch to Vita soon with a new feature though as a way of making it up.

This preorder scheme is disapointing for Vita only customers and also feels like it may be getting bad reviews and the makers want to lure you into a deal that will lead to a disapointing game.
Don’t get me wrong, it looks loverly and maybe the game is awesome but I just don’t trust this kind of deals. Why not a one week discount for all customers or a exclusive discount for Plus after the reviews are in?

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 11:23 am

Try not to go to the worst place first :)

The Vita thing is unfortunate, we didn’t know about that when we set it up.

The main reason we’ve done it though is because it’s a new IP and we want people to take the chance on the game, a discount seems like the best way. It’s hard to market and promote small games so doing a pre-order also gets it on people’s radars.

We believe it will review well, people seems to love it as much as us so I hope those good reviews can change your mind!

jasea3632 3 November, 2012 @ 6:18 pm   31

am i the only one who finds the service offered to ps vitas really poor i purchased this for nearly 300 £ and find that sony seem to not really care about it

faiz_ziaf 3 November, 2012 @ 11:11 pm   32

I played this at the eurogamer expo, totally awesome game on both PS3 and Vita, the developers have created a special game. The character designs are awesome, love to see them in a series of other similar type games. I am going pre-order, well worth the money, cross buy is a bonus too.

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 11:24 am

I think the Eurogamer expo was a great day out for the game, haven’t heard a bad thing from anyone who played it there!

~ Copy & Paste If You Agree ~

As a sign of my frustration with the store and blog staff, And anger at the way we are treated and scammed I will be boycotting the store and convincing others to do the same until you show us the respect we deserve as your paying customers.

Examples being,
– Blog staff ignoring important or useful questions.
– Replying to the same questions, sometimes on the same page.
– Inability to provide us with information (TWD, CS:GO)
– Promoting content, then on release saying its delayed.
– Promoting deals that don’t work and don’t fix (Dead Island).
– Releasing Content, then announce a discount a week later (WWE13).
– 95% of the PS2 games are garbage, release good games.
– Charging ridiculous amounts for digital games.
– Charging more than the US Store, Content should be equally priced.
– Forced to have a Singstar icon on the XMB.
– Feel free to add more

“Enough is enough and its time for a change”

I preordered the game and my PS3 has downlad it automatically but I just have the trial version of the game on the PS3 and I can’t transfer it on the Vita… Why? Did I already pay for the full game didn’t I?

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 11:25 am

That’s the way the pre-order system works, as soon as the game is ready it downloads ready for play on release day! So come the 7th you will be able to play right away.

@kieranmarsh I agree!
Also I fed up by the prommisses made and aren’t realised or killed of time.
- Lack of backward compatibility PS3.
- No more a operating system on PS3.
- Lack of apps for the Vita that where prommissed.
- Lack of services in all countries like video store and stuff.
- Content in store is often in the wrong place (old and new store).
- Downloading is to slow for a service like this.
- DLC region locked [CENSORED]
- Only 1 account on a Vita
- No insentive in ever buying a PS4 with so much broken on PS3, except for awesome exclusives, but that is not enough.

I wrote a small review based on the demo if people want to get an idea if it’s worth the pre-order or not?
http://familyfurie.co.uk/index.php/reviews/games/101-when-vikings-attack-ps3-review

Furiekins 5 November, 2012 @ 11:46 am   38

You need to remove the space between viking and s in the URL (silly WordPress splitting URLs) or use the short URL:
http://tinyurl.com/akr2y4d

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 1:31 pm

That’s a very kind review, channels exactly what we wanted people go feel when they play the game!

    Thanks!

chrisboers 5 November, 2012 @ 11:58 am   39

How can you write a review based on 10 minutes of (trial) gameplay? It doesn’t cover most of the game! (oh, I liked the trial, by the way…)

Furiekins 5 November, 2012 @ 12:23 pm   40

For a full RRP game, you can’t. For a £5.50 game that has already given over an hour of multiplayer pleasure? You can.

There’s enough there to encourage people to give the game a punt at the low price. Nobody is expecting 200 hours of gameplay for that price.

Try not to go to the worst place first
I’ve already been at the worst place, it’s calles PSN ;-)

We believe it will review well, people seems to love it as much as us so I hope those good reviews can change your mind!
It probably does, but then there is no discount anymore and I will be waiting until a discount comes along because I don’t want to pay the regular price.

    Neil McPhillips 5 November, 2012 @ 1:30 pm

Fair enough, price point is always an issue for some people.

Hope you enjoy it if you ever get it.

chrisboers 5 November, 2012 @ 1:39 pm   42

@OttoT, there are quite a few Youtube videos, and IGN covered it previously (http://uk.ign.com/videos/2012/10/04/whats-the-deal-with-when-vikings-attack). You should be able to get a pretty good idea of what the game is about.

It’s not rocket-science, nor does it have enormous gameplay depths, but from what I’ve seen (and the trial I played) its just plain simple addictive fun. A bit like how Bomberman is addictive and fun. Actually, I think it has more in common with Bomberman than I first thought. So, if you like that kind of game, including the multiplayer madness, go buy it. If not, then don’t.

Kalevra--88-- 5 November, 2012 @ 2:40 pm   43

might give this a shot, looks like multiplayer could be frantic fun

chrisboers 5 November, 2012 @ 4:06 pm   44

@OttoT: If you need a review before pre-ordering: Thesixaxis has one: is.gd/4pEkH8 They give it 8/10. So, there’s your review.

@chrisboers Did you invested in this company? ;-)

It’s mp only and I don’t care for that but I’m sure it’s a wonderful game. I just don’t get the sales method they chose to sell this game. It’s not very well thought out. Especialy for Vita only users.

Hi Neil,
I’ve bought the game with my Vita but it won’t download.
It’s just sitting in the queue saying “Cannot download using a PS Vita System”.

Is this getting fixed?

I’m a bit sad about it.

ERROR8013030F 7 November, 2012 @ 2:03 pm   47

Just started playing this – it’s epic! So much fun chucking random stuff at vikings then weaving out of the way when a barrel or a boat come flying back at you.

Totally addictive and more than worth the price of admission.

jasea3632 10 November, 2012 @ 8:06 am   48

once more as a vita owner i feel shafted by sony, ps3 owners get to spend under six pound on this game and vita owners get to spend 8 pound and get a free patch big whoop i would rather spend less money cos those 2 odd pounds have made the difference between me buying what is looking like a good game. why the hell didnt you have a limited time offer on the vita store only i would of thought that would have been fairer, but that just seems to sum up sony’s attitude to the vita this console has a massive potential but sony just dont want to know it. booooooooo to you
