Hi everybody,
I hope you’ve enjoyed the PlayStation All-Stars beta. With just over three weeks left to wait for the full game, I wanted to share with you some of things we have been working on here in the marketing department.
First, let’s have a look at the PlayStation All-Stars European TV commercial! The spot is a celebration of the PlayStation fans and their love and passion for the PlayStation characters.
Before you ask – no Fat Princess is not Jack Black, which seems to be the burning question since our Russian colleagues posted their version. Check out our Facebook page for the director’s cut of the TV spot, with a little extra footage of our six (seven if you include PaRappa) heroes.
Which All-Star are you?
Speaking of Facebook, today also sees the launch of our “Which All-Star are you?” Facebook application. This app allows you to see which of the 20 launch characters best suits you, based on some of your Facebook data. It looks through your profile and tries to match you up with your PlayStation All-Star persona. It does this by analysing your age, gender, how many friends, photos, likes, check-ins etc. you have on your profile. The application then matches what it thinks would be your PlayStation All-Star. Have a go here.
PlayStation All-Stars Card Battle Game
We’ve also created a competition on eu.playstation.com, giving you the chance to win PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on PS3 (which, as you know includes the downloadable PS Vita version) along with a code to redeem alternate costumes for all 20 launch characters (for both platforms).
I hope you enjoy the TV spot, app and Battle game – let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Can you please explain in detail how the Cross Buy system works ? Would one be able to give away the Vita version to a friend (either using a code, or the disc itself in a one time transaction) or will the disc always be needed for the Vita version to be compatible ?
Posted on 6 November, 2012 at 2:29 pm by Phil Lynch
Hey S-o-h-a-i-l,
Cross-buy works when you insert your PS3 game disc into your PS3, you follow the on-screen instructions to recieve your PS VITA version, as a download from the PS Store.
It’s tied to your PSN ID so you won’t be able to give away the PS VITA version to a friend.
I hope this answers your question.

That ad was great, is that on the telly now? e.e I can’t get the facebook app to work on chrome, it keeps stalling on the “loading facebook resources” part and won’t even start on IE9 or firefox but, I never expected IE to do anything
I’ll just assume I would have gotten Toro since he’s my favourite :3
Also @S-o-h-a-i-l, I really hope they include the vita in the online pass or only include with the downloadable version of the game so people can’t just sell on the Vita one when they buy the PS3 version.

Hi Ants_Pai,
I’ve just tried it on Firefox and it works fine. Thanks for the heads up though, I’ll get our technicians on it right away.
Haha, Toro is a great character, really fun to play with.
You beat me to it answering @S-o-h-a-i-l, see above.

Funny Russians. They don’t even look a like the slightest.

Hi k1ll1ng5pr33-NL (that’s some handle you’ve got there),
I agree, but that’s what a lot of folk seemed to think after our Russian colleagues posted their localised version a few days ago.
Hope you like the ad.

Hey fullycharge, I think Raiden would give Snake a run for his money.

@Ants_Pai Yeah, it was vaguely hinted at having to be downloaded using the PS3 disc itself, meaning people will not be able to sell the Vita copy without actually selling the PS3 copy with it. I’m hoping however that it does allow the Vita version to be given to a friend (using the PS3 disc you buy) and then be able to play them from your PS3 to their Vita.

Out Of Interest, I’ve Always Wondered Why Buying A Game On PlayStation 3 Warrents A Free Download On Vita But Not The Other Way Around. My PlayStation 3 Has Over 200GB Of Free Space, My Vita Full Of Corpse Party, Persona 2/3, Final Fantasy VII,VIII, My Downloads Of Gravity Rush And Wipeout Is Already Hemmoraging Memory Space.
Please Consider Giving Vita Purchase A Free Copy On PlayStation 3

I’ll have to go with Kratos;)
Also a slightly unrelated question concerning Cross-Buy:
Do the Ps3 Disc releases have a code (or an on-disc install) for the Vita version? I am aware that the US releases (e.g. Amazon.com) have the code but it is nowhere stated on the Uk retailers’ sites (e.g. Amazon.co.uk). Just want to find that out as I prefer having a physical copy and I’d rather not miss out on the game due to not knowing.
Thanks

I hope there are more than just the announced characters to unlock (and not dlc!). It’s what gives games like this longevity to many people.

One does not simply include almost every character in a video game, and leave Guybrush Threepwood out of it. You simply don’t.

Posted on 6 November, 2012 at 2:33 pm by dogwalker4000
Ah Guybrush, if only he were a PlayStation mascot
I don’t use facebook but Kratos is a badass so I’d have to be him…mainly because I’m not a badass IRL
My lil gal would be Sackgirl, she does an awesome impression

Thanks for the response Phil ! Out of curiosity however, would it not then be possible to redeem the download using the disc on another persons console and link it to their PSN account, thereafter keeping the disc for yourself leaving the digital PS Vita copy downloaded and linked to the other persons account ?

I agree with post 9 and I hope something can be done like that in the future.
I prefer to get physical copies for handhelds though I don’t mind getting either physical or digital for home consoles.
I just hope they do something in the future that allows you to buy the Vita physical copy but still get a “cross buy” incentive to get the PS3 one.
I understand that there’s a price difference however, so would it be a possiblity to do either of these?
A: Do a slightly more expensive Vita release that’s the same price as the PS3 version and includes a digital download for PS3
B: Include a discount for the digital PS3 version in the online pass of the Vita version.
Make it so that the discount makes it cost the same as the price difference between the PS3 and Vita version.
So lets say for example It costs £30 on Vita and £40 on PS3. Getting a physical Vita copy and registering the online pass would give you access to buy the PS3 version for £10. (you spent the same amount as buying the PS3 version and get access to the same things. Only difference is that your physical copy is for Vita and not PS3)
Just a couple of ideas but I hope something like this can be available in the future

@15 that code they redeem is most likely your online pass.
If it is then you would need to redeem it on your own account to play online.
And I’m hoping for more characters in the longrun too.
Even if they were DLC I’d be happy for more, though I’m just hoping for something like a character from the Disgaea series.
To start with though I think I’ll be playing as Dante or Raiden.
Can’t do the Facebook thing though as it doesn’t seem to work on my computer (probably because my PC is running in safe mode due to it almost being dead)

Cheers for the reply Phil, if it works for others then it’s clearly a problem on my side, I’ll try it again when I get home from work ^^

@16 I felt the sniping was fine if you were good at air attacks. For me it was the reach of Kratos. Three of him vs any character in the beta was just murder. That will change once we get a greater range of characters in the full game…hopefully.

I’m the mighty ANGRY CUSTOMER. Fear my wrath fueled by endless SCEE incompetence. In all honesty I’ve got too much fuel and not enough opportunities to release some power.

Clearly Evil Cole^^
If a Dlc came with spyro, I would chose spyro <3
By the Way^^
Why does the US Store get the ps1 spyro trilogy and europe not?^^
It's my fave game and that is the game why I chose Playstation^^
Can you try to make the trilogy in the eu store?^^

That is a quite hard question, but most likely my answer is…
Ratchet!
But of course I also like both Coles, Sly, Jak, Sackboy and Spike.
By the way, Kratos is OP. :/

I got Sir Daniel Fortesque. I’m okay with that. Actually thought about trying him out as my main.
