Hello everyone. I know that you’ve all been eagerly anticipating news of the PlayStation Vita Plus service so I am very happy to say that I can finally spill the beans.
We here at Sony PlayStation are very happy to announce that as of 21st November, the Plus service will be extended to the PS Vita. I can also confirm that if you already have a Plus subscription for your PlayStation 3 there is no additional charge whatsoever for the PS Vita service, meaning that you still get all the great PS3 content as well as the additional Vita offers, all for the same one-off price of £39.99 a year.
I am also happy to announce that to compliment the 1GB of online storage you currently receive for the PS3, we will be supplying another 1GB of online storage space for the PS Vita, along with the automatic update facility as standard. As part of the launch of this service the next PS Vita System Software Update (v2.00) will be available to ensure that your operating system is fully up to date with all the latest security patches as well as updated applications, features and settings.
Now, moving on to the important aspect and what you are all here for – the games line up…
At launch there will be four Vita titles available to you instantly. Please note that this is not going to impact the amount of PS3 games available at all – you will still receive the same amount of games as before. However, with the great Vita titles we’re adding to your Instant Game Collection, at any one time you will always have access to a minimum of 14 games a month across both platforms. Not bad, eh?
As with the PS3 service, we will have titles that will be available to you for a longer period of time than usual so you have the chance to play them when and where you feel like, without worrying about them leaving the service anytime soon. For the PS Vita, these two titles will be Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is Nathan Drake’s first adventure on the Vita platform, and follows our hero as he investigates the dark secrets of a massacre of a Spanish expedition to Central America around 400 years ago.
The game is visually stunning and the touch screen display lends itself to a whole new depth of gameplay, making it one of the most exciting Uncharted adventures yet! A must for any Vita owner!
The second title that will be available to you for a prolonged period of time is brought to you by our friends in Japan Studio in the form of Gravity Rush.
You take on the role of Kat, a young girl struggling with amnesia in the troubled city of Hekseville. She awakes with the extraordinary ability to bend and shape gravity with the help of her feline companion Dusty the cat. The townsfolk quickly place the fate of their home in Kat’s hands as she endeavours to understand why she has these new powers and who commands the sinister forces wreaking havoc across her city.
We really love this game and think that everyone should give it a go, as it really highlights the impressive features of the PS Vita.
As promised we also have two further titles launching on the service on 21st November, the first of which is Chronovolt.
Chronovolt is a brand new 3D puzzle platformer game for the PlayStation Vita family in which the player must guide their Chronosphere through the twists, turns, traps and hazards of Escher-like arenas. Chronovolts scattered around the levels give the player the power to control time in various fashions: stopping it for selected objects, rewinding it and creating time warps.
Time is controlled through use of the PS Vita’s front and back touch panels while the Chronosphere can be controlled either with tilting or with the more classic dual stick controls.
Finally the remaining title that we will have available in your instant game collection comes from our friends at Drinkbox Studios in the form of Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. This side-scrolling platform game is extremely enjoyable to play and its humorous cut scenes make it a light-hearted journey from start to finish. Please take the time to check it out.
With all this great content lined up for launch and more to come, it couldn’t be a better time to be a Plus subscriber. If you are not currently a member visit our PlayStation Plus site or all you need to know about the service!
Oh just one more thing… as an added bonus, because we think it’s worth celebrating the launch of the service we have secured 20% off a range of PS Vita titles for the first week of the service. Remember, these are only around for one week and will go live as soon as the store update has rolled out so grab them while you can!
Titles to be included are:
- Escape Plan
- Unit 13
- Hustle Kings
- MotorStorm RC
- Super Stardust Delta and Advanced Star Fighter Pack Bundle
- Top Darts
- Little Deviants
- Modnation Racers: Road Trip
- Reality Fighters
I think that pretty much covers everything about the impending launch of the Vita Plus service which is going to be a great addition to the PlayStation family. If you have any questions please post them on here and I will try to get round to as many of them as possible.

Skookie, are you aware of the English Language at all? Maybe you should use it as I have no idea what you are saying 90% of the time. Which, I guess isn’t too bad as I don’t have to read your utter nonsense and constant whining over things that border on insane.

@vita owners.
just to clear my posts up some, i bought my vita on 22/2.. unchatredGA, 16GB mem, And cos it was 3g i got wipeout2048, cost around £320, and so i kind of feel i am entitled to an opinion about it. now i sold my purchase 2 months later, i believe i got choice, £115 cash, or £145 trade, i opted for trade, so, even though i do not own a vita anymore, i also have paid about £200, just to answer a above point, and yes, i am a vita hater.. But NOT because you are getting extras, i Can see others taking this veiw so it’s a fair enough point. I was also till september a day1 plus subber, so i feel i have payed scee enough to have voiced my opinions. i stopped renewing plus because i am Not a casual gamer, i couldn’t and cannot see any future, for myself in plus, since IGC started.
All i want is for you lucky vita/plus owners to try and see it from both sides, and If you still feel this is 100% fair, then at least show some understanding to the people who are upset, or feel their getting a raw deal. Surely it isn’t asking That much.

Okay it does not matter if we get more content later on say chris example I’m not morning it the facts.
Say we got 14 titles and we got 4 extras titles like treats in later that same month that be 18 titles in all.
But SCEA too must have mid treats too so they have 18 titles plus a further 4 in the end they still get more content whatever SCEE & other ppl dress it up they still get more content I remember they had more discounts then us too.

I don’t begrudge anyone getting anything for free (sort of free as it is the price of the subscription).
Where have you got the idea from that I begrudge PS3 owners (of which I am by the way) from getting something free I really don’t know!?!
Please point out where exactly I have moaned or complained about anyone on any platform getting anything for free.
Oh that’s right. I didn’t and never will…..
PS PLUS is a great service for the PS3 and now the Vita.
That is a GOOD THING

@ post 204 aka another_gamer195
Nope, no understanding. This is 100% fair. You made your choice for buying and trading in for your reasons.
Upset over what? Because something is not for you and you made a wrong purchase in your opinion? Happens all the time mate. Be glad you didn’t buy a Ferrari you didn’t like and had to sell.
PS+ is the best thing since sliced bread. Or at least, a lot better than Xbox Live. Can’t understand why I paid for that for years when I see what PS+ offers these days

Posted on 13 November, 2012 at 7:27 pm by frodouk
People really don’t get it do they? You are getting the exact same service you already had and paid for on the PS3. The extra Vita stuff is a bonus for Vita owners. It takes nothing, NOTHING away from PS+ on the PS3.
Stop being pathetic

Now if you wouldn’t get your PS3 games anymore, which you will that would be right.
But this stuff is just getting thrown on top of that. You have bought PS+ when it was just PS3 only, so you haven’t paid for it in any way thinkable.
Stop the crying. Man I think these are all 360 owners trolling the PS Blog while they cry in a corner over paying 60 bucks for just playing online.

Well done Sony, you just convinced a few million ps3 owners and ps plus subscribers to get a vita! ps plus is the best thing Sony’s ever done.

I’m with you FRODO. I just do not understand how ANYONE can complain about this extra aspect to the PS PLUS service!?!
Seems folk are bitter about people getting free stuff it seems.
Very pathetic indeed and I really don’t get how it affects none Vita owners one little bit?!
They still get the exact same service they signed up for!?!

You didn’t pay for it you tool.

@ Voodoo
You must be a 5 year old. If you want to use the free stuff you don’t pay extra for, buy a PSVita.
You are a 360 user that is hurt though, so much is very obvious.

It would be great if someone could answer this
I have Uncharted and Gravity Rush retail already, can I back up my save files using the content manager to PC or PS3 and use these save files for the digital PS+ versions?

Aah now we get to the truth.
You had a Vita and sold it for whatever reason.
That was your choice, which you now regret and are all bitter and twisted towards anything good happening in the world of Vita.
Pathetic person indeed!!!
Yes it’s 100% clear now.
Still 100% fair.

I’ve heard you can use saves from retail versions on digital versions mate. Not sure if it’s true, but that’s what I heard.

Voodoo, seriously… give it a rest. As a PS3 and PS+ subscriber on the PS3 you are losing out on nothing – the service remains 100% the same as what you signed up for.
Now move on.

personally I don’t mind that vita users are going to be getting “more” than me for a month or two all I and seemingly other people want is confirmation from Sony that yes adding to the download list on the ps3 means we can download to the vita at a later date
you can do that with the psp – except for the mini pick and mix which never worked and nearly a year later I can’t play those games on my psp
having said that I can’t understand why some psp titles weren’t added to the games there is an incredibly large back catalogue of games available that would more than make-up for the fact that there haven’t been loads of releases on the vita as of yet – and who cares if they don’t have trophies? really there are more important things in the world that hearing a little ping and some quasi little notice of a supposed job well done

This is great news and a very good move from Sony.
I have 3 of the 4 games already, but thats just the way it goes.
I would like to know if I back up my saves from Gravity Rush and Uncharted, can I then download the free digital copy and then pick up my save again?
If so then I will trade in my retail copies against another new Vita game, so it wouldn’t be too bad.
This has been asked a few times in this blog post, so an answer from the PSN Blog Team would be great.

Its kinda like spitting in the face of early vita adopters. This is a great deal to entice you to go out and get a vita now but anyone who has had a vita for awhile will have uncharted and gravity rush. They’re the best games the vita has to offer and will likely continue to be for the foreseeable future.

You did own yours back then ?.. only if My memory serves EVERYONE complained or were unhappy with vita, for Multitudes of reasons,, and jog on, haha.. Do one, your not chattin to No jerhn-hdr.. try lookin accross river.. in fact jump on ferty/train and Tell me to jog on.. pathetic, then Stop lookin at ur reflection.

watching the video posted on the US blog about Vita PLUS and the big 2.0 update is quite informative.
Looks like you can use the content manager and you PC/laptop wireless rather than having to hook it up via the USB cable.
Content manager also has the ability to just back up save files only as well as the old entire file which was/is a pain if you have got digital copies of any games.
Hope we get the email function too.
Content manager looks loads more user friendly with the 1gb of extra Vita cloud saves as an option.
Things are looking up for Vita owners
HAPPY DAYS!!

I have had my Vita since launch so there goes your argument flying out of the window and as an early adopter I am very happy with my purchase.
NO regrets at all.
I play it everyday
I didn’t complain at all so not everyone complained about their purchase.
My only gripe has been the memory card prices but they have come down in price loads lately.
I take it you did moan about your purchase (you must have hated it to sell it) hence your bitterness towards Vita owners new and old getting anything free.
I own all the games apart from the Chronovolt game already but anything I get from Vita PLUS is a bonus as I have a PS3 with PLUS too.
The Vita is a marathon, not a sprint. The PS3 took years to take off properly.
Right I’m off to play on my brilliant handheld an leave you to stew in your bitterness…

Awesome news finally!, I’m very intrested to find out how the 1gb vita saves will work aswell, I hope it will work for all games also those wich stores on card, and that you eventually can upload from card, sell it and eventually buy a new later and the savegame will work on aonther card?…

£200 for vita, only if you want new one.. have seen them going for 120ish, but only with 6 month warrenty.. i Will buy another, IF they implememt the SOLE reason i bought first.. back then i wanted to play KZ3 remotely, but now i finished that, maybe next decent game i would like to play remote.. but by time that happens, if ever ps4/xbox720 will be around, so vita should cost under £100 or abouts..

another_gamer – if you bought a Vita based on something that Sony NEVER announced as a feature, more fool you.
I doubt we’ll ever see it – most PS3 games won’t map to the Vita well, plus you then have lag to contend with. It’s just not a decent system – look at Youtube and you’ll see hackers have it working but it’s laggy as hell.

Keep it up!

I don’t own a Vita, it is possible for me to ‘purchase’ these on my PS3 and then, say next year, use them on a Vita if I buy one?
Short version: Do we need a Vita -now- to add these to the list of games in our PS+ sub.

Seeing as there is a Vita store on the PS3 store, I’d say you should be able to access Vita + games, and use the PS3 to purchase/download them for transfer to the Vita via Content Manager.

If you had done any research before buying the Vita then you would have realised the KZ3 thing was a staged tech demo and was NEVER a promised feature for the PS Vita.

Last question, tell me why your assuming i am bitter and twisted. because vita is now getting ‘some’ attention. what have i said for you to conclude that ?.. i couldn’t really care about vita until it lets me properly play my ps3 games from anywhere. like it advertised it would.
My one and only problem here is the Total lack of human compassion, understanding that ‘some’ users have posted.. but as your now off to play your handheld, i guess i will have to wait till tomorrow, to see whether or not you’ll answer me civility, or group me with the raving loonies group and reply with more (un-called for) insults.. well like you, i have a appointment, in Pandora.
