Hello everyone. I know that you’ve all been eagerly anticipating news of the PlayStation Vita Plus service so I am very happy to say that I can finally spill the beans.
We here at Sony PlayStation are very happy to announce that as of 21st November, the Plus service will be extended to the PS Vita. I can also confirm that if you already have a Plus subscription for your PlayStation 3 there is no additional charge whatsoever for the PS Vita service, meaning that you still get all the great PS3 content as well as the additional Vita offers, all for the same one-off price of £39.99 a year.
I am also happy to announce that to compliment the 1GB of online storage you currently receive for the PS3, we will be supplying another 1GB of online storage space for the PS Vita, along with the automatic update facility as standard. As part of the launch of this service the next PS Vita System Software Update (v2.00) will be available to ensure that your operating system is fully up to date with all the latest security patches as well as updated applications, features and settings.
Now, moving on to the important aspect and what you are all here for – the games line up…
At launch there will be four Vita titles available to you instantly. Please note that this is not going to impact the amount of PS3 games available at all – you will still receive the same amount of games as before. However, with the great Vita titles we’re adding to your Instant Game Collection, at any one time you will always have access to a minimum of 14 games a month across both platforms. Not bad, eh?
As with the PS3 service, we will have titles that will be available to you for a longer period of time than usual so you have the chance to play them when and where you feel like, without worrying about them leaving the service anytime soon. For the PS Vita, these two titles will be Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is Nathan Drake’s first adventure on the Vita platform, and follows our hero as he investigates the dark secrets of a massacre of a Spanish expedition to Central America around 400 years ago.
The game is visually stunning and the touch screen display lends itself to a whole new depth of gameplay, making it one of the most exciting Uncharted adventures yet! A must for any Vita owner!
The second title that will be available to you for a prolonged period of time is brought to you by our friends in Japan Studio in the form of Gravity Rush.
You take on the role of Kat, a young girl struggling with amnesia in the troubled city of Hekseville. She awakes with the extraordinary ability to bend and shape gravity with the help of her feline companion Dusty the cat. The townsfolk quickly place the fate of their home in Kat’s hands as she endeavours to understand why she has these new powers and who commands the sinister forces wreaking havoc across her city.
We really love this game and think that everyone should give it a go, as it really highlights the impressive features of the PS Vita.
As promised we also have two further titles launching on the service on 21st November, the first of which is Chronovolt.
Chronovolt is a brand new 3D puzzle platformer game for the PlayStation Vita family in which the player must guide their Chronosphere through the twists, turns, traps and hazards of Escher-like arenas. Chronovolts scattered around the levels give the player the power to control time in various fashions: stopping it for selected objects, rewinding it and creating time warps.
Time is controlled through use of the PS Vita’s front and back touch panels while the Chronosphere can be controlled either with tilting or with the more classic dual stick controls.
Finally the remaining title that we will have available in your instant game collection comes from our friends at Drinkbox Studios in the form of Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. This side-scrolling platform game is extremely enjoyable to play and its humorous cut scenes make it a light-hearted journey from start to finish. Please take the time to check it out.
With all this great content lined up for launch and more to come, it couldn’t be a better time to be a Plus subscriber. If you are not currently a member visit our PlayStation Plus site or all you need to know about the service!
Oh just one more thing… as an added bonus, because we think it’s worth celebrating the launch of the service we have secured 20% off a range of PS Vita titles for the first week of the service. Remember, these are only around for one week and will go live as soon as the store update has rolled out so grab them while you can!
Titles to be included are:
- Escape Plan
- Unit 13
- Hustle Kings
- MotorStorm RC
- Super Stardust Delta and Advanced Star Fighter Pack Bundle
- Top Darts
- Little Deviants
- Modnation Racers: Road Trip
- Reality Fighters
I think that pretty much covers everything about the impending launch of the Vita Plus service which is going to be a great addition to the PlayStation family. If you have any questions please post them on here and I will try to get round to as many of them as possible.

@Chris, @Fred: There is an issue with Motorstorm RC. I bought it in the race-sale, and am able to download it on my Vita. However, it says there isn update, but when I try to download the update, it says ‘cannot download’.
Other problem is on the PS3 store: Whether I choose ‘full game’ or ‘Demo PS3′, I always download the 100kb unlock key.
Quite annoying.
Can you please send this trough to the Store guys?

@thavleifrim: In one of the comments Chris said 2 games a month. Uncharted and Gravity Rush are here to stay for a while, the others rotate.

Holy crap! My expectations were pessimistic about this and now I’m flabbergasted!
I expected two PS Plus subscriptions, there’s one. I didn’t expect Uncharted: GA, there it is. I expected at least one catch – there’s none.
I’m oficially starting to spare money for Vita (PSP will have to wait, I guess).
Xbox Live Gold subscription is so dead in comparison to infinitely positive PS Plus

@chris was it wise to go we like to surprise route, yes indeed we get the 3 other titles later this month but it not working is chris you still having answer my or other saying how can this be better tailor needs for EU.
i have just read the SCEA commets their quite happy over there, the put out all the games in 1 basket telling them what they getting they know where their stands you dont see them splitting the community.
so chris you actually DID split the community we fighting among ourselves like i said many times on different blog threads for not given out the full list it leads to speculation, mistrust, anger, & contempt from us.

Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 10:22 am by sadlam79
Got two of the games but can’t complain, I guess.
I’d advise everyone to download Mutant Blobs, its a great game.
The only downside to this is that Vita memory cards are obscenely overpriced. I have a 32gb card pretty much full already and I’m certainly not buying another at those prices. I’ll just delete something I’m not currently playing till later.

Oh you guys :’)
With the amount of Vita games I own, I thought it would be forever until you’d offer a free game I don’t have, but here you are with 4 I haven’t played, 3 of which I’ve wanted for a long time.
You guys are awesome!
Is there any news of a 64gb memory card coming soon? I have a 32gb and I ran out of space a few months ago lol

Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 10:52 am by Vorlon
Good job Sony, you might have just killed the sales of PSVita software. Only reason to still buy retail is the lack of space on the PSVita memory card. Even 16 GB is way too small.
322
Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 11:12 am by hayzink
@Vorlon
not really as if chris sticks to what he said and sale titles wont be plus titles then i for 1 will buy a game if i really want it and its on sale.
also if the 40 launch titles are whats mainly going to be used in the rotation at the start then at 2 new games per month thats 20 months of content right there and all the while new games will be coming out for vita and i for one wont wait a year or so for a big retail game i really want.
@chris
i know its a bit early for requests but any chance you could take on board the following suggestions for future plus games.
marvel vs capcom
army corps of hell
luminies
thank you

Those complaining a 16GB memcard is too small…
I don’t know how many games at the same time you play but on average I don’t play more than 5 to 6 different games in lets say a month.
Uncharted is a big game, close to 4GB, but many other games are a lot smaller. With EASE one can store 5 to 6 and even a lot more games on a 16GB memorystick.
It is not a lot of trouble to dl the games on the PS3 and transfer some once a month or once every few months, or even dl them directly on PSVita.
Sure, a 32GB or 64GB card for a reasonable price would rock, but the 16GB card is more than enough for me, even if all games would be 4GB.

Very happy I splashed out on a 32GB card now.
Plus is an EXCELLENT service which saves the average PSN user a ton of cash, and I will continue using it, as long as the content is of this standard.
Both Gravity Rush and Uncharted are very high-end games retailing between 35 – 45 euro, and now they’re scott free, along with the PS3 content with PLUS.
You’ve finally redeemed yourself, Sony.

you know that when their time runs out, when they ‘rotate’ that you can’t play them anymore unless you buy them.. the games aren’t free downloads to keep, they are free to use for a time period. two months or three months max.
i am happy with this service but i am not deluded. we’ll have three months with ‘gravity crash’ and ‘uncharted’ and that is plenty of time to play through them. a shorter, ‘preview’ of the other two games.. it’s an extra.. a ‘plus’ to your account.. for a reasonable price. i like that there are discounts available for purchases and am especially looking forward to the one-week sale at launch.
there is another thing worth noting.. that psp titles offered for ps+ will also be able to be used on your actual psp by logging on to the store from it. that’s a little bonus not getting mentioned
333
Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 1:00 pm by stvlite
@330
Wrong.
You have them until your subscription expires, then you’re just locked out of them. When you re-subscribe, you can play them again. They’re only available on the PSN store for a limited time, but once they are in your download list, they’re yours for keepsies.

to those moaning that US gets more games this was explained in May. They start with more but EU rotates more often and would end up with more games. Also the US launch games are likely to end up here soon.

@254 If that was directed at me, I’m not fighting for anyone. Yes there’s more content now, some on a different platform, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re still paying for it. Effectively it means each game we’re given access to on plus works out to be even cheaper, but again, YOU’RE STILL PAYING FOR IT. I don’t see why some people find it so difficult to get that in their heads.
I’m by no-means bagging PS+, it’s improved a lot since I started using it and is a great deal now (unlike the console of the Dark Side charging people to use their OWN internet connection), but I will always point out that none of this content is free, you paid for it, even if the sub price remains the same.

Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 2:41 pm by Frxn
@336 Getting it now with GA is a good time seeing as the physical game is still priced around £35-35 and Plus is a year for £40, but if you wait until they have a deal on you can get it for about £30-32. Also, years stack so you could purchase two discounted years if you wanted and had that amount of disposable income.

Nice to see PS+ for vita finnaly ariving, allways good news!
Unfortunately i wont be downloading the freebies as most people wont as i think almost everyone with a vita allready owns uncharted.. Bit of a let down on that front!
Mite have to stop buying retail games or even psn versions with the hope that they will be released on + for either a discounted rate or for free.

Most likely they put Uncharted in PS+ to sell a PSVita to the futured new owners of a PSVita these holidays. There are many PS3 owners with PS+ that will get a PSVita just with this announcement.
Gravity Rush is pointed more towards current owners too, as it is a good game but didn’t get a lot of sales. Furthermore, the other games are there too and remember, December already will give two new PSVita games.
I own Uncharted, but I can totally see why Sony put it in the instant game collection before Black Friday. Now they need to bundle a 3 month or better a year PS+ with every PSVita sold and market the (CENSORED) out of it!!! The more PSVitas sold the better for us all, which makes a higher installed base/numbers of units out there, thus more interesting for 3rd party gamedevs thus more games for us all. Win win!

I have read somewhere that Sweden PSN store doesn’t have PS+ yet.
My best bet is that you make a PS+ account in another country (my country THe Netherlands has PS+ for example) and get PS+ through that store, or wait till Sony brings PS+ to Sweden, but that might be a long wait.
Check if I am right though, but I read it somewhere and would make sense why you can’t find it!

Posted on 14 November, 2012 at 5:55 pm by TheMART
Oh be aware though: you can only have one PSN account on your PSVita at this moment in time! While on PS3 you can have more, Sony should update the firmware to allow more accounts in multiple stores IMO.
