Hello everyone. I know that you’ve all been eagerly anticipating news of the PlayStation Vita Plus service so I am very happy to say that I can finally spill the beans.
We here at Sony PlayStation are very happy to announce that as of 21st November, the Plus service will be extended to the PS Vita. I can also confirm that if you already have a Plus subscription for your PlayStation 3 there is no additional charge whatsoever for the PS Vita service, meaning that you still get all the great PS3 content as well as the additional Vita offers, all for the same one-off price of £39.99 a year.
I am also happy to announce that to compliment the 1GB of online storage you currently receive for the PS3, we will be supplying another 1GB of online storage space for the PS Vita, along with the automatic update facility as standard. As part of the launch of this service the next PS Vita System Software Update (v2.00) will be available to ensure that your operating system is fully up to date with all the latest security patches as well as updated applications, features and settings.
Now, moving on to the important aspect and what you are all here for – the games line up…
At launch there will be four Vita titles available to you instantly. Please note that this is not going to impact the amount of PS3 games available at all – you will still receive the same amount of games as before. However, with the great Vita titles we’re adding to your Instant Game Collection, at any one time you will always have access to a minimum of 14 games a month across both platforms. Not bad, eh?
As with the PS3 service, we will have titles that will be available to you for a longer period of time than usual so you have the chance to play them when and where you feel like, without worrying about them leaving the service anytime soon. For the PS Vita, these two titles will be Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss is Nathan Drake’s first adventure on the Vita platform, and follows our hero as he investigates the dark secrets of a massacre of a Spanish expedition to Central America around 400 years ago.
The game is visually stunning and the touch screen display lends itself to a whole new depth of gameplay, making it one of the most exciting Uncharted adventures yet! A must for any Vita owner!
The second title that will be available to you for a prolonged period of time is brought to you by our friends in Japan Studio in the form of Gravity Rush.
You take on the role of Kat, a young girl struggling with amnesia in the troubled city of Hekseville. She awakes with the extraordinary ability to bend and shape gravity with the help of her feline companion Dusty the cat. The townsfolk quickly place the fate of their home in Kat’s hands as she endeavours to understand why she has these new powers and who commands the sinister forces wreaking havoc across her city.
We really love this game and think that everyone should give it a go, as it really highlights the impressive features of the PS Vita.
As promised we also have two further titles launching on the service on 21st November, the first of which is Chronovolt.
Chronovolt is a brand new 3D puzzle platformer game for the PlayStation Vita family in which the player must guide their Chronosphere through the twists, turns, traps and hazards of Escher-like arenas. Chronovolts scattered around the levels give the player the power to control time in various fashions: stopping it for selected objects, rewinding it and creating time warps.
Time is controlled through use of the PS Vita’s front and back touch panels while the Chronosphere can be controlled either with tilting or with the more classic dual stick controls.
Finally the remaining title that we will have available in your instant game collection comes from our friends at Drinkbox Studios in the form of Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. This side-scrolling platform game is extremely enjoyable to play and its humorous cut scenes make it a light-hearted journey from start to finish. Please take the time to check it out.
With all this great content lined up for launch and more to come, it couldn’t be a better time to be a Plus subscriber. If you are not currently a member visit our PlayStation Plus site or all you need to know about the service!
Oh just one more thing… as an added bonus, because we think it’s worth celebrating the launch of the service we have secured 20% off a range of PS Vita titles for the first week of the service. Remember, these are only around for one week and will go live as soon as the store update has rolled out so grab them while you can!
Titles to be included are:
- Escape Plan
- Unit 13
- Hustle Kings
- MotorStorm RC
- Super Stardust Delta and Advanced Star Fighter Pack Bundle
- Top Darts
- Little Deviants
- Modnation Racers: Road Trip
- Reality Fighters
I think that pretty much covers everything about the impending launch of the Vita Plus service which is going to be a great addition to the PlayStation family. If you have any questions please post them on here and I will try to get round to as many of them as possible.

Got PS3 500gb super slim with AC3, Fifa 13 and Need for speed for £250.

I been reading the commets & it just click with me someone said months ago are we getting the same amount of free games as Ps3 gets?
someone here has given us the answer no we dont get the same for 2 reasons……
1- SCEA gets more the us on Day 1 we only get 4.
2- & this is the reason 4 titles still in longer but only “2 in rotation every month” while the Ps3 rotate 3 games per month, the game of the month & 2 of the rota list get replace that makes 3.
but that im not so bother about because i did had a feeling it be slightly different then the Ps3 & dont forget the 1st year of the new Plus runs out quicker then the vita.
meaning when the Ps3 starts it’s 2nd year run LBP2 infamous2 will rotate with new game staying for a year while Vita still in it’s 1st year Run.

Bought Gravity Rush about 2 weeks ago but even if I had all 4 games I’d still be happy. Not for myself, but for the community. If this helps casuals buy the Vita, then good! The more who buy the system, the more it’s supported by devs, and that can only be a good thing. I finally bought a Vita when LBP came out and would love Wipeout too but I’m sure it’ll come in due course. Patience is a virtue people.
Plus would’ve been difficult to market before a year of operation of the system. There just weren’t enough games (bar PSP/PS1 ones of course) to keep the flow right.
Keep up the good work Sony. I’m a happy subscriber. Would recommend a bundles with 3 months and a 12 months free subscription to plus for the coming holiday season, as it’ll get them hooked, like we are!

Forgot to mention, while it’d be nice to have parity between the US and the rest of us, we’ll more likely have a faster turnaround of games and not leaving them stagnating on the network.
Do need another memory card now though!

CHRIS! I’m writing in this thread because the original is so old. In the racing discount thread you said that the wipeout hd complete pack price should be fixed in a couple of hours, but it STILL full price on my vita store! That is the only one I want to get, but wont pay the full price when it should be discounted. FIX THIS NOW, before the sale ends.
Thank you

@RhinoW-1990: Open the PSN Store on your PS3, at the start-screen, go to ‘Redeem Code’, and enter the code you got. That’s all.
However, if you don’t want the service to auto-renew after the month, switch off the auto-renew option.

WOW…..the kids, teenagers & adults really stand out on this Blog.
Is there any need for personal insults towards people & their opinions??
After this announcement i’m very tempted in finally owning a VITA. I couldn’t justify the price to begin with for a handheld console but considering I have a PLUS subscription & the VITA games are additions for no extra cost to the subscription, then i’m now going to look into some deals within January or I may have to hold off until my Birthday, in April. At least i’ll have plenty of free games when I do eventually purchase one
Sterling effort indeed guys…..well done!

@RhinoW-1990: Yes you could. However, you can also wait until next week, when Vita Firmware 2.00 releases. I’m sure subscribing to PS Plus will become available on the Vita store then also (Not even sure if it isn’t possible right now)

@rhino about ps+ free trial. it’s on Sony PlayStation’s facebook page, you will need a credit card to redeem code though.

@catkiller
Hey bud. Hope i stand out as an adult. Reading between the lines, i’ve noticed that chris neglected to answer any q’s regarding whether any ps3 owners (with plus but without a vita) could dl the vita igc until a time when they purchased one.
Would not put it past sony to integrate a method (with v.2.00 update) that only permits dl’ing when accounts show ownership of BOTH consoles. After all, they took away the ability for multiple accounts on the vita with the ps1 update (v.180) i think. Sneaky.
V.2.00 is gonna be interesting. Thankfully, i don’t think there’s a vita port of singstar. he he.
Enjoy your vita when you get one mate.
Peace

@ sem1471
I hope that users who own PS3s can download VITA content, otherwise it’s pretty pointless for me….at the moment anyway!
Did you send me a message through PSN a couple of weeks ago with regards to MOH: Warfighter?? If so i’m sorry I didn’t get back to you but I accidentally deleted the message & forgot the name but for some reason your name stands out! If so, send me another message & i’ll add you, for you to attain the fireteam trophies.

@catkiller1, cheers for reply. Hope my thought process didn’t worry you too much!
In relation to your query, it wasn’t me regarding MOH. Sorry.
Maybe my name stands out as i’m a regular complainer on these blogs regarding the digital pricing on the store.
As I said previously, hope you enjoy your vita when you get one. Tremendous piece of kit.
Enjoy your weekend.
Peace.

@hayzink. Cheers for the info.
Don’t tend to look at the US blog too much (angers up the blood sometimes if you know what I mean…) but good to know.
Happy to be corrected.
You too, enjoy your weekend.
Peace

Hey guys, just wondering:
can you “register” these PS+ Vita games on PS3? I don’t have Vita (yet!), nor I will have anytime soon, but eventually I’m gonna get one and with PS+ on Vita, that day’s gonna be sooner than later.

Why are the Americans getting more games to the PS Vita instant game collection? Why don’t we get Jet Set Radio and Final Fantasy Tactics as well. How come the Europeans get a worse deal? I’d be grateful if I got an answer.

you can assign touch buttons on the touch Screen [Top left, Top Right, Bottom left & bottom Right]
you can use plus features today while we wait for our free games tomorrow.
unfortunately despite the broswer is faster you cant watch any vids on youtube or eslewhere the only way to watch youtube vids to to ust the yoptube app on homePage.

Well, just got surprised when people claimed to download games now. I know the 21st is the official date for the games. Sad that the Americans get better PS Vita support for Playstation Plus, just as they do on the PS3..

Hi – it’s 5 am UK, 21st of November and I can’t see any obvious changes to the store that make use of my Playstation Plus Account. Any news on when the updates will be rolled out, or is PS+ a subtly hidden option? Clicking on Gravity Rush asked me for the full price for the game for instance, so I don’t think it’s there yet.
Cheers

heh, i’ve kept going into the store and clicking on gravity rush myself, waiting for it to have that cool plus sign and ‘free’ written next to it….. i’ve been up all night and into the afternoon.. it’s now 5pm in australia…

*waves at floor, in general direction of StoneSkull* It’s about 10 past 6 here in the UK, 8000 miles of solid rock, magma and superheated iron away from your current location. Still no joy on the PS Store. Even being a Playstation developer sitting just a few miles from Sony London HQ isn’t getting me my sugary PS+ snacks any faster.
I’ll try refreshing the store again. It’s bound to work eventually!
