Hello everyone! It’s that time of year again when snows starts to cover the ground; fairy lights and mince pies take over the world and everyone is a little bit merrier! So, what better way to get in the mood than by divulging the latest PlayStation Plus content coming your way throughout December?
I hope you’re excited as we are about the content line-up for this month, as we bring you a critically-acclaimed AAA blockbuster, an epic sci-fi shooter and a phenomenal puzzle platformer – and that’s just the PS3 content!
So, let’s kick off with a big one. We’re very happy to announce that from 5th December we’ll be offering the stunning Batman: Arkham City as your headline title for the next four weeks!
Delivering a genuinely authentic Batman experience that takes you deep inside the diseased heart of Gotham City, critics universally agreed that this is a shining example of what a superhero game should be. I don’t think it needs much more of an introduction – just play it and find out for yourself.
Also out on 5th December, we are pleased to announce that we have secured the beautifully designed LIMBO from the hugely talented Danish developer Playdead. This wonderfully eerie platformer takes you on a challenging journey through hostile environments, overcoming a series of physical puzzles and deadly traps in an effort to learn the fate of your sister.
It’s one of the most critically-acclaimed downloadable games ever and packs a real emotional punch – check it out as soon as you can.
To round off your PS3 content for December we have secured Vanquish, the stunning third person shooter from developer Platinum Games and publisher SEGA. Directed by Shinji Mikami – the creator of the Resident Evil series – it’s a sci-fi shooter that sees you take on the role of Sam, a government agent kitted out with a futuristic battlesuit. Fast, fun, fluid and utterly frenetic, if you’re after a rush of pure gaming, Vanquish is the game for you.
And that brings me onto the next section of my update – your upcoming PS Vita content. From 19th December your headline title will be the latest version of a classic franchise: Mortal Kombat (not available in AU). Developed at series creator Ed Boon’s NetherRealm Studios, critics agreed it was a stunning return to form and one of the finest brawlers in recent years. A gritty, gruesome treat lies in wait!
Your second piece of PS Vita content, launching on 21st December, is beautiful puzzle platformer Knytt Underground – the exciting follow-up to indie hit Knytt Stories. Boasting over 1,800 rooms to explore and multiple story-driven quests to complete, this one should keep you occupied well into 2013.
I guess that’s it folks! Look out for an update just before Christmas on your January content, but until then enjoy the December offerings.
Actually, hold on! I almost forgot we have a little extra surprise coming your way!
We’ve been working hard with publisher Ripstone to bring Knytt Underground to the PS Vita Plus service for a while now, but because we’re feeling in the Christmas mood we’ve also arranged to bring you the game on PS3 too, through our PlayStation Plus Presents line. Like the PS Vita version, it will be available from 21st December and will support Cross Buy so you can make the most of your extra 1GB storage and play at home and on the move!
But that’s not all! As we believe Christmas really is a time for giving, as of 12th December we will also be bringing you Big Sky Infinity, a stunning shoot ‘em up from the development teams at VooFoo Studios and Boss Baddie. Like Knytt, this title also supports Cross Buy so you can enjoy it on both PS3 and PS Vita.
We’ll have developer Blog posts soon looking at both Knytt Underground and Big Sky Infinity in greater detail – stay tuned.
As usual, you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of titles, including the phenomenal Rayman Origins. We’ll update you on these offers in the weekly Store posts.
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time, and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
I think that really is it this time, so I am signing off for now! Enjoy your games!

Hey guys, I recently bought a Vita and grabbed PS+ for Uncharted and Gravity Rush. I intend to get a PS3 in the couple months as well. However, I really don’t want to miss out on LIMBO, Batman and LBP2. Is there any way I can get them now while they’re free, but without actually having a PS3?? Please say yes?!!

@Aces73high
Not sure if it will work, but you can try using the webstore – store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com, login with your PSN and try to add the PSPlus content to your download list.

the webstore is a very good move, at last by sony, allthough as usual its only about 5 years overdue. i would like to know if you can get your plus stuff from it though, because if for no believable reason they can’t, then it will be another hammer blow headed towards one more nail, in the once loved ps brand, it would probably be reason enough to replace the $ in ms to a better suited one in sony. and the, will be added soon line isn’t worth the screen space it’d use. so i do hope it is all good for plus vita owners who don’t have ps3, and those who can’t access theirs for a reason.

I’m onto my fourth attempt at downloading Batman, as each time my download gets stuck at 90 to 91% and also completely slows down the reactions of the entire XMB, sometimes to the point where it will momentarily freeze completely.
It’s definitely not my connection, as it runs fine up to that point, and I have over 100gb of storage free. One last attempt before I give up. >:0(

I see that the list was edited to “19th December: Mortal Kombat (PS Vita) – not available in AU” now.
Still no replacement title?
Still no mention of Germany?
I tell you, don’t act surprised if a giant (CENSORED)storm should arise because SCEE surprisingly has to register then, that Mortal Kombat is also an issue for the german market.

Much as I appreciate Arkham City as a freebie, the cost of the DLC comes to about the same as a new copy of the recently released goty edition. Would work out a lot cheaper to buy a copy, install the dlc and then sell the disc on (assuming the dlc installs from the disc).
