Today, everyone here at Namco Bandai is pleased to announce that after much excitement, speculation and community feedback, a demo for our upcoming RPG Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is now available to fans across Europe through PlayStation Store.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is an epic adventure created by the talented Japanese development team at Level-5, with animation by the legendary Studio Ghibli, the company responsible for countless animated masterpieces, such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Ponyo.
Following its Japanese release in late 2011 for PlayStation 3, the game is coming to European fans on 25th January 2013, with both Japanese and English voiceover, and text localised in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
The game will also be made available in both a standard and special ‘Wizard’s Edition’, containing a Drippy plushie and the Wizard’s Companion book, which fans will see Oliver using throughout the game.
JRPG fans looking forward to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch should head over to the PlayStation Forums now where you can submit your questions for Akihiro Hino, President and CEO of Level 5. On 17th December, the SCEE Community team will pick their 10 favourite queries, which will be sent to Japan for Hino-san to answer. Check back to the PlayStation Blog early next year to read what he has to say!

So I’ve just finished playing both segments of the demo. I didn’t manage to finish both in their enterity.
1) Got to giving the guard some enthusiasm.
2) Beat the boss.
But that aside, I absolutely LOVED the demo. I went exploring around the woods, got in some good battles and delved deep into the menu and battle system.
I already had this pre-ordered but as I hadn’t looked at much gameplay I had somewhat thought if I’d be a bit meh but definitely not! I can’t wait to buy this DAY 1 in the UK.
I also can’t wait to put in the extra hours whilst trying to platinum this game. I knew as soon as I saw the game that this’d be a special game I’d want to play. Bring on the looooong journey.

My god this demo was so good!
I thought this game was going to be good since it was being developed by:
Level-5 (All their games are awesome Dark Cloud/Chronicles, Dragon Quest VIII and the layton games)
Studio Ghilbi (I’ve watched all their films!)
And the demo did not disappoint it just oozed of quality pretty much everything about the demo I liked
the only slight issue was during the fights when you scroll through the combat commands you sometimes pressed up/down by mistake and withdraw/summon your familiar by mistake as it isn’t completely clear as to which set of buttons up/down or left/right scrolls through the commands but I’m sure this is only a minor issue and just takes time to get used to.
I already pre-ordered the Wizard Edition and I can safely say that I won’t be cancelling it
I can’t wait for this game to come out now 2013 just seems so awesome for games.
@Hollie You got that right JRPGs are the best
You have any clue if there will be a steelbook for Ni No Kuni? It’s always nice to get the steelbook especially for my favourite releases and will the soundtrack be sold separately? (Thanks in advance for answering any of these questions^^)

Not going to download the demo because it permanently shows up in my list and I don’t want to spoil anything untill I get the final product. But I really can’t wait for this one, I’ve been so hungry for a decent JRPG this gen. Lost oddysey is one of the few I enjoyed this gen and it was on 360.. Really hope to see more JRPG’s in the future.

I love the way it looks, I love the sound.
But I hate the fighting systemen, the woesh thingy when you meet an enemy. We’ve seen this fighting system a 1000 times and I can’t find the fun in it.
I wanted to love this but it’s about the gameplay in the end and it’s not for me unfortunately.

Saddly – I’ve must say that I’ve just cancelled my preorder for the Wizard’s Edition as I can’t simply support companies / developers who will reach the new low by limiting (already enough limited) demos by time – this is simply NOT acceptable and such trend must be avoided. I’ll boycot ANY company using such low practics. The same way I gave up the pleasure to have NFS: MW and a few other games I was really looking forward to play. This is insult to the loyal customers and wasting of their time, effort, harddrive space and bandwidth – SHAME ON YOU!

@HEC007
What a weird logic. One quick view on your played games and I can see many titles that don’t offer any demo at all.
So you support developers that don’t grant you the option to have a look first?
But you refuse those who are so kind to produce demos with limitations, because you consider that an insult to loyal customers?
Oh well, no idea who you try to fool here. At least you made me laugh.

Frankly – YES! I prefer NO demo at all than the one crippled such way. Also – majority of the games you might have seen on my playlist were purchased way after release when I’ve had the chance to play (the full game) elsewhere and mainly as a bargain. Here we’re talking about pre-release demo and (almost) full price for the new game. Such behaviour from developers / Sony really ticks me off. Take example of NFS: MW from Criterion – the fairly large demo is totally crippled by both 15 minutes time limit as well as missing online. Compare this to Burnout Paradise demo (from the same studio) which was both unlimited and have online and make your own decission about the (wrong) direction the gaming industry is turning nowadays …

Demos are free and it is their nature to be limited. As long as the demo grants you enough options to check out if the game suits your taste, there is nothing to blame.
If you don’t like what you see, don’t buy the game. But go out my sight with your stupid reasoning that no demo at all is better than a limited demo and your idea that games deserve a boycott that for. That’s trolling nonsense and you know it.

Well it’s safe to safe that me and my kids loved the demo and cannot wait for Jan 25th. The time expired on our demo just before we found out what happened to the guard who lacked enthusiasm.
One question i have though (if you are still checking in). Roughly how many hours gameplay will we get ? It looks like it could be epic in scale but maybe it isn’t. Doesn’t matter either way to us though. I’ll be getting it for sure.
