Hey there everyone. It’s time once again for the monthly digital download charts for the PAL region. November saw plenty of big new releases, so let’s jump straight in and see who the movers and shakers were.

Assassin’s Creed III put in a storming performance in its first full month on release to top the chart for November. There were new entries at three (Need For Speed Most Wanted), four (Sports Champions 2), nine (LittleBigPlanet Karting) and 10 (Hitman Absolution), while Grand Theft Auto IV raced back up the charts following our recent sale.

As vexatious as it is seeing people pay over the top for rinse and repeat “AAA” titles, it’s heart warming to see some brilliant, imaginative and outstanding titles there too.
Proof that Sony really are helping to push new forms of gaming entertainment. Without new titles like Unfinished Swan, tokyo Jungle, When Vikings Attack, Journey (brilliant to see it still in the charts) or even The Walking Dead; the industry would stagnate and be filled with grey and brown shooters*.
If the numbers of sales are close, then it may convince more publishers to be brave and to back the more outlandish ideas, which can only be a good thing for gamers.
*Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with enjoying those types of games if they entertain you.

Hi Fred,
I have already asked Jawad and he said that he didn’t have any info, perhaps you have heard of something. Milestone have released DLC tracks for WRC 3 on the playstation vita. Why is it not available in UK/EU?
Sorry for insisting so much but I have already bought the game and I don’t find it fair to miss something that should have been there.
Thanks

Loving the New web store, awesome now that I won’t miss out on any deals, https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-gb/home/main
why no announcement before hand, surely many are unaware that it has been released?
Posted on 7 December, 2012 at 11:07 am by Fred Dutton
Regarding that – we are testing a new web store, which we look forward to announcing and launching to the PlayStation/Sony community shortly.

*a suggestion :it would be nice if the store got “for idiots only” msg b4 logging in so the smart ones walk away …

The odd thing is Jawad was hinting at it on wednesday and nobody seemed to notice.

@fred
did you get round to reading the blogrecap from last week>
i asked you if you were up for the platinum challenge that james was doing last year?
basically he let us pick a title and he went for the plat and kept us updated on how it was going, it was a nice way to interact with the community so could be fun to do again.
Posted on 7 December, 2012 at 12:15 pm by Fred Dutton
Yes, I did – apologies, it’s been a really busy week here. No promises, but I’ll see what I can fix up!

Thank you Fred. Three replies here and I even got one on Twitter that made me a very happy (and excited) game for next week. Almost feels like Christmas!
About Sound Shapes: Can’t wait for a sale on that one. Had a little Twitter interaction with the developers lately, damn fine guys. I feel almost cheap for waiting out on their game. But Steam teached me to wait.

A very happy gamer of course. Le sigh!
Oh and congrats on the new web store in construction. Looks neat!
https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com
I assume that development is at least partly responsible for some of the store issues lately?
Posted on 7 December, 2012 at 12:56 pm by Fred Dutton
No problem sir – I am the shadowy figure pulling the Twitter strings behind the curtain too. Just checking my facts – I said next week, but it might actually be the week after. Apologies for the inprecision!
As for the new store – see comment above. We’ll talk more about it next week!

Hi Fred, please could you get some of these added to the store?
I believe the USA already has these but preferably as PS+ Stuff:
Assassin’s Creed 3 Avatars
Assassin’s Creed 3 Theme
And:
Marvel Avatars (Spiderman)
Ps2 Classic Simpsons Hit and Run
Ps Vita Wake Up Club
PS3 Youtube App
Emphasis on AC3 stuff and Simpsons.
Also, I already have a UMD version of Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters for PSP, and I really want a digital version for my Vita, any chance you could get it on sale please?
Thanks!
Adam.

Thanks for responding Fred. I’ve checked my PMs on the forum again just to make sure but its definitely not there. I only logged into the official forums for the first time on Monday when you announced the winners, maybe thats messed it up? Can you help at all?

Appreciate your response Fred.
I also appreciate its nice to give options. I myself dont mind digital downloads, ive bought Ico / Shadow, Dante’s inferno, GTA 4 and a load more but I will only do that if they are reasonable priced (or within a few quid of buying it from Amazon and such like)
Its just seeing recent releases for nearly £60 quid that sticks in my throat a bit. If Far Cry 3 was say £37-£39 you would sell a lot more surely?
Just looked on Amazon, they are selling FC3 for £39.97 with additional content. Its £20 more on the store with no additional content from what I can see.
Pricing is obviously a major issue when it comes to digital downloads. You only need to look at most gaming sites to see the criticism.
I would love to have some of the recent games on my hard drive ready to play. I just cant justify splashing out 60 quid for a game.

Hey Fred,
Would it be possible for us to get actual sales numbers?
It would be great to actually see the success of digital sales, especially on the Vita where it might help combat the idea that all Vita games sell poorly. And thank everyone at sony for being faire the digital pricing of 1st party games.
Posted on 7 December, 2012 at 2:16 pm by Fred Dutton
For various reasons, I’m afraid that’s not possible. Vita sales compare well though – the top 6 Vita games would have made it into the PS3 top 10.

Hi Fred,
this might be the most challenging question you may have heard this year:
In PS Store, there are two games; Hustle Kings and Top Darts. They are both “cross-buy”.
Then there’s a collection (box, blu-ray) called (Puma) After Hours Athletes, which includes these two games and a bowling game.
So, if i buy that blu-ray, will i have Vita versions too or they should be bought from PS Store to have games’ both platform versions?
Posted on 7 December, 2012 at 2:42 pm by Fred Dutton
You’re right – that’s a doozy! I’m not 100% certain – I’ll see if I can find an expert here who can advise. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply Fred!
Talking about it next week to me could mean that more features are inbound before the official launch next week?!?!? I only think this as the web store worked perfectly this morning for adding the new PS plus stuff which makes me think that maybe you guys are releasing a firmware update along side that allows plus members to remote turn on and download games to console from the web!
Obviously complete speculation but this would of coruse offer yet another reason to get plus!

Some of your excuses Fred for Sony charging rip off prices on the store are laughable. It’s Sony’s store not EA’s or Ubisoft, you let them charge the price, they don’t force it on you. Try respecting your customers for once.

YO! Fred -
Sony should create a site, where you can consolidate all the worlds of hd home theater. Imagine the unlimited potential for all of Sony’s divisions. You can do this by using international generic hd home theater domains. See hdhometheater.webs.com for details.
These generic domains have unlimited potential for creating a distribution channel for many corporations within the worlds of hd home theater. Could be very useful in increasing global market share, creating partnerships, and for leveraging contract negotiations with other corporations throughout the digital entertainment & AV industries.

@ MA76_666
What are you on about?? This is the FIRST comment I’ve ever made about the pricing of full retail games in the PS Store!!
I don’t buy these full priced games from the store because I’m not an idiot.
@ Project2insanity
My my, some certainly is up themselves…
I think people who buy games at 60 quid a pop on the store are indeed idiots.
Deal with it.
