It has been a big weekend for us here at Naughty Dog. We revealed a brand new trailer for The Last of Us and confirmed the release date for the title, which will be 7th May 2013 across the PAL region!
This is our second trailer release and our first since announcing The Last of Us at least year’s VGA show. You can watch the full, uncensored trailer below. We’ve tried to keep the trailer as spoiler-free as possible, while giving you some hints at the tense, emotional narrative the development team has crafted for The Last of Us. Enjoy!
That’s not all – we are also excited to announce details on the bonus content you can get for pre-ordering your copy of The Last of Us. Participating retailers will offer either the Sights and Sounds Pack, which includes:
- The official soundtrack of the game
- A PS3 dynamic theme featuring the cover art
- Two avatars for your PSN profile – Winter Joel and Winter Ellie
Or the Survival Pack, which includes:
- Bonus experience points for multiplayer
- A multiplayer melee attack booster
- Some extra starting in-game cash
- Special customizable character items for multiplayer
- Two special bonus skins for Joel and Ellie which will be unlocked after your complete the single player campaign
Multiplayer, wha? Exactly, we haven’t talked much about multiplayer other than confirming that we’ll be working to include it in The Last of Us. We’re not quite ready to talk about it yet, but stay tuned as we’ll be revealing more details on multiplayer before The Last of Us is released on 7th May 2013.
The team here is pumped to head into the home stretch to finish The Last of Us. It’s been looking pretty great so far – and we can’t wait to show you more in the coming months!

2hrs of gameplay. 8hrs of epic cutscenes. I can’t wait \o/
My ex always commented on how I watched more MGS4 than actually played it. I really hope that This is another of those titles where you get drawn into the story and enjoy each and every cutscene. The music sounds great and the characters truly look emotive enough that you can connect with them.
Ashley Johnson is playing the lead but Ellie looks eerily like Ellen Page :/

i have one problem = why leting peopel pay to online when them not need
mp u need to buy – dowload from store
games like cod – bf …. them are mp why pay to sp if u never play ???
then u have very smal group both intresting = borderlands 2 -rpg ….
some soccer game – fifa – gt5 …
but the game industrie not get lots peopel not intrested in mp ore sp ( so make games 30 € sp 30 € mp ) total buy = 60 €

I am very very happy about this news when I saw this at E3 I was straight away saying to my self “I want this amazing game”. I’m so glad this is now officially confirmed I’m really excited.

Ok I have exams like a week after this comes out, so any idea how long the codes will be valid for? that way I can preorder it lock it away somewhere I can’t get to it to play and then concentrate on exams till they end mid june and still get the extra xp etc.

Have to say impressive boxart you guys got there. Hope this game sells well. You did a great job with the Crash trilogy, The Jak trilogy, the Uncharted trilogy. Let’s hope this one sells well. I have faith in you ND. =D

I have three important questions to ask?
Q1 Will the single player campaign last 20-40 hours long,beacause if so that would be fantastic.
Q2 Will there be a demo before release?
Q3 Will there be a steelbook version of the game?

Thanks for your reply earlier. I see Strangeheaven asked you about a steelbook. It has given me a thought which I hope you could pass onto the group. If you do make a limited edition with a steelbook inside, please give it the same cover that’s in the picture above. That picture looks awesome and I’m sure it will make others very tempt to buy. I noticed in other games when they make a steelbook, they never look quite as nice as a normal one.

My worry for MP is how do you keep the gameplay the same as the SP.I feel Uncharted 3′s MP wasn’t a cover shooter anymore.I just remember people just sprinting around and it felt a mess.loved the June beta,not sure what changed my opinion.
I’ve only seen both versions of the E3 demo,and that’s all I’ll see until launch.But unless you keep that pacing and level of play in the MP,it’ll probably feel like uncharted online.Maybe make kills not count for anything,it shouldn’t promote the mindless running around looking for blood.
Make team mean something,If I’m on my own and 4 guys are sweeping the corridors,I want zero chance of a clean kill.Make my character fear situations in the same way the balance of power system was shown in the E3 demo’s.
One other thing,proximity chat only.And if my actual voice could control the ingame volume,that could play into the vibe of the game.

Waw, just waw.. Am in absolute awe once again. This has to be most beautiful game I’ve seen in 26 years. The animations, the coloring, the voicework and acting, everything looks just top notch. If this is what’s going to -brilliantly- end the ps3 era, I can’t even imagine what’s up next for us on future Playstation consoles. Major kudos.
