Riddle me this, Sony firmware boffins.

- I can play games and remote play wirelessly between Vita and PS3.
- I can transfer data wirelessly between Vita and my PC.

…but then why to tranfer data between Vita and PS3 I need plug in a wire?

If you’re having any problems with installing and running the LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Control Pack on your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, head on over to the following thread for a step-by-step guide on how to get the LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Control up and running.

    http://bit.ly/ZokLbf

Hi Steven,

I have one question.

Let’s assume that I have a Vita and a friend of mine doesn’t, we both have this DLC, if we play the story mode in coop, will we both get the DLC’s trophies ? Is this possible at all ?

Thanks

    Steven Isbell 19 December, 2012 @ 2:36 pm

The LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Controller Pack can be played single player or multiplayer, provided that one person owns a PlayStation Vita.

If your friend plays the pack with you and they own the DLC too, then they will earn any Trophies, Pins or collectables that you pick up in the new story together.

Going to be livestreaming this tonight on the LBPCreateGuide channel ^-^

Thanks for the awesome price! I feel bad giving this little :(

Looks very awesome!

But I have to ask a kind of silly question… is there any incentive to buy this if you don’t have a PS Vita?

    Steven Isbell 19 December, 2012 @ 2:38 pm

With the exception of the Vitanator, all of the news tools and goodies can be used in your community levels without requiring a PlayStation Vita!

The Worm Hole, Materials, Decorations, Music and so much more will all be useful to any creator looking to expand their tool bag! :)

Splutterbug 19 December, 2012 @ 2:17 pm   5

The WiiU is suddenly not looking quite as revolutionary as all the journalists first thought.

KillaT2501 19 December, 2012 @ 2:17 pm   6

Do we need LBP Vita for this?

On the XMB next to Singstar should be Little Big Planet along with PSABR and Buzz!

    Steven Isbell 19 December, 2012 @ 2:41 pm

You do not need LittleBigPlanet PS Vita to play this pack.

The LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Controller Pack is an exclusive collection of new levels, tools and features for LittleBigPlanet 2. :)

If you own LittleBigPlanet PS Vita though, you will be able to add the 5 Costumes from this pack into your game with our Cross-Buy scheme. :)

SpitelordDekka 19 December, 2012 @ 2:17 pm   7

You should make it clear, as per the last post about this, that you don’t need to pay anything if all you want to do is play created content that makes use of this functionality.

@iisc2ky

Just to get new materials and trophies, but in order to even play it you will need to have someone with it and a vita to host the pod

@ Steven

You gotta help me out a bit dude!

I always heard that a USA game wouldn’t be able to use DLC bought on the EU PSN/PAL store and vise versa.

Yet, I own LBP2 USA version (Collectors Edition imported as it had more goodies than EU one and cheaper too), and I own LBP1 PAL through the PS3 LBP pack I bought back in 2008.

Strangely, the LBP1 PAL DLC I bought (Pirates of Carribean, MGS), does work with LBP2 USA. So now I am not sure anymore if stuff that was always stated is correct.

Asking this because I have cash on my EU PS+ account to buy this pack today, my USA account I should buy and redeem a prepaid card again for 20 but have nothing else to buy in that store. Maybe someone else knows 100% if for this or more games the region lock to DLC coming from the games disc region isn’t in place?

    Steven Isbell 19 December, 2012 @ 2:48 pm

    LittleBigPlanet DLC is region-locked.

So ideally you will want to own a PSN account that matches the region of your game and then use that one account to purchase all of your LittleBigPlanet DLC.

Since you own a US copy of LittleBigPlanet 2, you should be purchasing DLC from the US PlayStation Store.

With this in mind, you should also ensure that any copies of LittleBigPlanet PS Vita or LittleBigPlanet Karting you own should also be from the US, since that will allow you gain access to the Costume DLC across the three titles.

Hi Steve, thank you again for ignoring my question in your former post (now 2 posts ago). I guess I’m not going to buy this when I’m not sure it’ll work.

I had the same question like you TheMart. But Steven ignores answering it for the past 2 posts.

flipkick661 19 December, 2012 @ 2:23 pm   12

Nice, wold have bought this right away, but firing up remote play here from work, and using the PS Store is no longer possible, because “surprise”, the new store is incompatible with remote play.

Sad that Sony decided to make remote play even more useless :-(

@ OttoT

Maybe I’ll bite the bullet and let you know dude. As my LBP1 PAL DLC did work on my LBP2 American game. So I am assuming it should work the other way around too.

But then again, would be sad to see if I paid 5 Euro and it wouldn’t work…

@ Flipkick

Use the PC store link to buy it through the PC!

Tenchuwoh 19 December, 2012 @ 2:28 pm   15

I am gonna get it as soon as it shows up on PS Store,i can’t find it yet.
One random question,if anyone knows the answer tell me please:P
I got the PS+ for 3 months with the first Christmas deal but i want to get the one for 1 whole year with the price cut on Jauniary 1st,will i be able to get it or i wont cause i will laready be a member?
Thanks in advance!

@Tenchuwoh
Yep, they pile on-top of each-other ^-^

Mattiebo123 19 December, 2012 @ 2:34 pm   17

The DLC is available now on the PS Store if you search (I found it on the browser store), but I’m having some trouble connecting the Vita to the PS3.

I have no problems connecting to Remote Play, but the Vita won’t get past the first step when connecting to cross control. Is there any way around this?

Can’t connect the Vita to the PS3. The two don’t seem to see each other . When will this be fixed?

@KillaT2501 No you don’t need LBPVita, just LBP2 for PS3.

Gamesgbkiller 19 December, 2012 @ 2:51 pm   20

Why its 209.5 KB ?!
should it be longer ?

@ Steven

Thanks for the reply, but you skipped the part that I used my LBP1 PAL DLC bought in EU store in my current LBP2 USA disc version of the game.

So how is that possible if you say this?

“LittleBigPlanet DLC is region-locked.
So ideally you will want to own a PSN account that matches the region of your game and then use that one account to purchase all of your LittleBigPlanet DLC.
Since you own a US copy of LittleBigPlanet 2, you should be purchasing DLC from the US PlayStation Store”

Isn’t that strange???

I can play Pirates of the Carribean and MGS PAL DLC on my USA copy of the game fine… I don’t care for LBP karting as I already own Modnation Racers, better version of that racing game ;-)

But back to the DLC, how can you explain the PAL DLC bought for LBP1 PAL/EU works on the USA/NTSC version of LBP2?

    Steven Isbell 19 December, 2012 @ 3:19 pm

That really should not be happening and this is the first that I’ve heard of DLC being able to work across regions.

Either way, I would still advise you to only ever purchase DLC from the regional PlayStation Store that matches the region of your LittleBigPlanet games.

I am also unable to connect the two. i have updated my vita to 2.01 and still nothing.

It’s not working for me. I’ve been trying for the the last 45 minutes and my Vita will not connect.

i read somewhere that it is the disk version that it having connection problems. has anyone got the disk version to connect? or are having problems with the digital version?

I’m using the digital version and it’s not working.

OH WAIT

@ OttoT too

We got LBP2 for free in the instant game collection with PS+ too, so either way it’ll work for us hahaha if it won’t work on my dics version from USA, it’ll work that way.

Lol, totally forgot about that! No problemo, off to buy that pack!

Noctorrent 19 December, 2012 @ 3:27 pm   27

Also not working for me. Both ps3 and vita up to date, on the same network and do not connect.

Digital version having problems as well.

@TheMART I had LBP1 on disk from NL but it didn’t import it’s stuff into the LBP2 US version. Then, after the hack I got LBP1 for free on my US account but the kratos costume I bought in the NL store did’t work (that was all I bought on the NL store). I played LBP1 US version and unlocked stuff and imported it in my LBP2 US version.
So I want all my materials and DLC to play with so I’m going to buy the US version.
This whole region lock on DLC keeps me from buying the LBPvita version because I’m not sure it’ll run on my NL Vita.
Who thought this region lock DLC stuff was a good idea?!

OH GOD!!! :D I NEED THAT CUTE LITTLE ‘REAL?!’ SACKBOY that pops-up on that sofa!!! :P

so would i if it would connect >.<

Hi Stephen! I have a big problem with LBP2 after the update. If I go into a level or go creating, my system crashes. And I noticed that my Sackboy is stuck with a jet pack on his back, even in Pod. I would like to continue playing it and get the pack. Can you help?

Is necessary to charge this 5 euro? i mean is creat contend to promote vita and vita need promotion, but also is something new and we don’t know how is to play in this way

@TheMART

Are you the same ‘TheMARTatXboxKings’(or whatever it was) that is the biggest PlayStation hater off that cr*p site n4g.com??? Don’t tell me, ‘PP’ has got a PS3 now to… :D :D :D

Hello Steven
Fantastic news Steven, will look forward to it when I get my vita in 6 days. ;) I will defenetly buy this, when I get more money on my psn wallet I only have £2 now after getting 2 £25 psn cards for my birthday. I was desperate for money. :) LongLivePlay Sony make.believe

RustySanderke 19 December, 2012 @ 4:25 pm   37

Adding cross-controller support is cool, but charging money for it is a bit distasteful.

anybody having any luck?

Just got home from work been excited to be purchasing this when I got home, gutted that I can’t get the Vita and PS3 to connect :( anyone managed to solve this yet?

no luck here, some people seem to get it working by randomly trying different setups (wirless, wired, switching one machine on while the other is already connecting etc) just have a play around with it for a while, you may get lucky.

What if I tell you I am eh? ;-)

I own every system pretty much of every gen, was an Atari fan once, a Sega fan, a Nintendo fan, MSX fan, even Playstation fan with PS2… The way the PS3 started was just bad. That all changed with LBP at the end of 2008, the time I bought a PS3, before that it had no use. I owned two PSP’s already before it this gen. Now a fat PS3 and a slim PS3 too. Now I hate the WiiUnderpowered hehe

So eh yes. Media Molecule and LBP ftw, they got me into PS3. Guys came from Lionhead studios which are XBOX/MS/360 developers but MS passed on LBP I guess.

On topic: just downloaded this cross controller story DLC, will try out later tonight!

I’ve been trying for two hours now and it still won’t connect. I’ve tried everything. I hope this is fixed soon.

Guys they aren’t charging much for this content. Creating such stuff costs time and money. It isn’t that much money either.

declan__watson 19 December, 2012 @ 4:53 pm   44

Hello JJl1991
What Sperz-35 said maybe just connect it in a way or use it in remote play or go to lbp, setting and try and connect the ps vita to the USB port on ps3. Sorry about some of my weird instructions I don’t have a vita so I don’t know but maybe try it. ;)

I don’t mind the fee for the cross controller DLC…. it takes effort, man/lady hours to create said content. But what I do expect….. is said dlc to actually work whence paid for.

Ziaro_7

Finally figured out the problem
the problem is your PSV and PS3 are in different networks, even though they are connected to the same router.
Your going have to go into the network settings of both devices, and look at the IP address , subnet mask and default gateway of both devices
and make sure that the subnet mask and default gateway are exactly the same for both devices, primary DNS should be same as default gateway to.
My ip on PS3 was 99.xx.xx.xx instead of the standard 192.168.1.xxx ip address,
so you may have to adjust your ip address to be 1 above , so if on Vita its 192.168.1.15
IP on ps3 should be 192.168.1.16
I had had to adjust all these settings on my PS3 and had it set as a NAT 1 before and now its NAT2
I had tried since 7pm EST for 7-8 hours, no lying, doing everything , and starting up is every possible way, soon as i changed the network settings on PS3 to be the same as VITA, it starting downloading on Vita instantly.

found this on the same post but on the US blog. may help.

I’ve managed to get it working by going into the network settings of both devices and setting the ip address to manual. Then I made sure that the subnet mask, default gateway/router, primary dns and secondary dns matched up on both devices. I then launched the game and it connected instantly. It’s now downloading the content to my vita.

oops, I see comment 46 says the same thing.

mine works now too :D :D :D

billy-beauts 19 December, 2012 @ 5:57 pm   50

Remote play works but cross-controller on LBP2 does not. Why is this? The instructions are unclear and it’s really frustrating.

DarthDanMan 19 December, 2012 @ 6:01 pm   51

@Sperz
Thanks to you I finally succeeded in doing it. :-) It really needs to be a lot easier. Downloading it now.

Rammstone 19 December, 2012 @ 6:14 pm   52

How on earth do you install this?

I’ve got LBP2 on PS3, and I downloaded the latest patch (1.20) for it. Went to the store and bought the cross controller pack, got 2 files. One for ps2 and one for vita. I installed the ps3 one and plugged vita in for the other one but it refused to copy it over because some files were missing. So fine, I went to vita store download list and downloaded it again there and when its finished it just says “waiting to install” in the notifications but nothing happens when clicking it.

what am I doing wrong? (I do not have lbp vita)

Why isn’t it available in Croatia? ;(

@52 Ramm

the Vita file is only for Littlebigplanet vita game, and still its just a costume pack. its missing gives since you don’t have the game, which isn’t required for the cross controller feature, can just delete it.

billy-beauts 19 December, 2012 @ 6:37 pm   55

I do everything it tells me to do – “go to remote play and start cross controller”. But nothing. If remote play works, shouldn’t this?

Thanks for the help guys will give your suggestion ago in a minute and let you know the outcome. :D

can anyone give a step by step guide to changing network settings for this as i tried and failed.Feel a little shafted as there is no advice out there and i payed for it.

Mentality 19 December, 2012 @ 7:05 pm   58

Absolutely fantastic. A bit fiddly to get it up and running downloading the different parts. But once that was sorted it was a flawless experience for me and very enjoyable. Many different implementations to keep it interesting as well. I cannot wait to see how other games in the future will support this feature I just hope we don’t always have to pay for it and that it is built into the main game with only one file to download to the vita if needed which I originally thought this wouldn’t be the case since it is already a feature of the Vita, I did find that slightly confusing.

Still no luck :( I’ve matched the ip settings etc, I’ve tried launching the game then launching cross controller on the vita and vice versa. Starting to get quite frustrated now, some instructions from Sony would have been nice, well more in depth ones then ones we got.

Just done it. Thank you so much for your advice guys, if anyone fancies a game sometime feel free to add me. Hope to see you in CraftWorld, Sack folks! ;)

Skookie30 19 December, 2012 @ 7:29 pm   61

Wonder bar PSN is down it went to 77mb then total stop again, :(

@JJI1991 how did you do it?

Skookie30 19 December, 2012 @ 7:48 pm   63

Let me do 1 more thing then I reboot my router I’m sure it not that as I had a PSN sign out error number HA. :/

Ok I’ve got ….
Put the game on the ps3, and go ingame store, there you seek the cross-controller pack, and you give to the planet. In the vitaactive cross-controller, and start downloading of 483 Mb, when finished will install the application on the vita, and since the game Ps3, detect the vita … I’ve tried it, it’s super fun , WII U gamepad, trembles, if Sony supports the cross-controller, we have nothing to envy to Nintendo. A greeting.

Skookie30 19 December, 2012 @ 8:18 pm   65

Christ sakes Do something I don’t believe you got it sorted I’m getting 2 messages each going 1 message to the other message.

1st message “start [littlebigplanet2 cross controller] on the ps vita system.
If you not installed [littlebigplanet2 cross controller], go to [remote play] on the ps vita system and start [cross controller from the livearea screen.

2- connected to the playstaion vita system.

All night it goes from message 1 to message 2 then back to message 1 nice for 4 quid eh.

HELP!!!!!!! can somebody help i have tried everything it’s not working i cant even download the vita cross controller pack from ps3 to vita yet i have done it with all the lbp vita dlc.Is there a problem with the updates AAARRRGGHHHHHHHH

Skookie30 19 December, 2012 @ 8:25 pm   67

It not stop at 133mb with the 1st message I got a message on my vita says my download failed. epic Fail.

sparkkydd 19 December, 2012 @ 8:26 pm   68

Its not working, whats going on. please do not tell me I have just wasted my money & have to wait a couple of days for it to be fixed because Im traveling tomorrow and really wanted to try this out before I leave.

Skookie30 19 December, 2012 @ 8:30 pm   69

3 errors I got showing.

1- could not download (NW-5603-4)

2- could not download (C2-13245-5)

3- could not download (NW-5603-4)

Onlytripleseven 19 December, 2012 @ 8:53 pm   70

This is not working for me.
I’ve got the latest Firmware on both PS3 and Vita. Plus latest patches on both LBP2 and LBP-Vita, as well as latest Live arena patches.

After reading messages here, I’ve changed the Subnet mask, Primary and secondary DNS server address so they are the same on both the PS3 and Vita. Both devices are on the same WiFi network, I also tried using a wired connection on the PS3.

The PS3 is waiting for the Vita to connect and is asking me to ‘start LBP2 Cross controller on the Vita System’

I downloaded the LBP cross controller item twice for the Vita. Once I transferred data using content manager, the second I downloaded the data using the Vita going back to my download list on the PSN Store.

I’m using the cross-controller option in the remote play section on the Vita menu and it’s waiting for the PS3 software that supports Cross controller.

- I’m an experienced console and PC user, and this should be working as far as I’m concerned. So if I’ve missed something, this feature is way to hard to set up for an average user and needs to be sorted out.

Can an admin PLEASE write a guide here on the correct set up as this is a nightmare.

@onlytripleseven i have tried it all as well the only thing left is to punt kick the vita into a neighbours garden and get a wii u lol.

Go to the store ingame LBP2, inside the game, search the cross-controller pack and touch “go to planet”. In vita enter in cross-controller, and the vita start the app download (483 Mb), when it is finished, vita will install the app in the live area . Later open the app, and right!!!

BessieSABU 19 December, 2012 @ 9:14 pm   73

Hi,
I had just the same problem, nothing worked… in LBP2 after I run pad computer there was no icon crossplay (but you need it for this)… than I finished first level and went back to pad and I got crossplay icon on pad, I click it and successfully connected Vita to LBP2, you will need approx. 500MB of space on Vita memmory card…

finally after nearly strangling myself i got it to work. if anyone is reading this try and make sure your network settings on your vita match the settings on the ps3 :)

Working perfectly fine…

I think many just do it wrong. Try this guide:

1. Ofcourse first you buy the Cross Controller LBP DLC in PSN Store (make sure it is the region/store that matches your game. Although Pirates of the Carribean and MGS pack that I bought for PAL LBP work on both PAL/EU as well as NTSC/USA LBP2 -I own both, USA on disc, EU PS+ download-, this cross controller pack DOES NOT. I bought it on my PS+ account for EU and it only pops up on the PAL/EU PS+ LBP2)

2. Boot up your LBP2 game on PS3. I had my PSVita connected with the USB cable to the PS3 already and the REMOTE CONTROL app I had started up, you can select CROSS CONTROLLER at the right. Go into the pod of LBP2. Go to STORE on the pod. Go to ‘My Stuff’ or something at the bottom. There you see the cross controller pack. Click that one, it’ll say it connects to the PSVita and it’ll display that it needs to download stuff. On the PSVita it’ll also show that it is downloading a 482MB file.

3. After it is downloaded, I disconnected the USB cable from the PSVita, I returned to the home screen on PSVita with PS button. The app started installing.

4. After installation was done, I booted the app on PSVita. It said connect to PS3 in the middle of the screen. At this point in time on the PS3 you should be in the Store/My Stuff section and having clicked the Cross Controller DLC, it’ll show some kind of PSVita connection screen. If you’re on the same network, after tapping connect on the PSVita screen it’ll autoconnect to the PS3 and LBP2 and the DLC story will autostart

Hope this helps everyone that can’t get it done up till now!

when i go to store and go to cross controller download through the game it says purchased i cant click on it i go back to pod and click cross controller do same with vita and nothing.

@ B_Bopper

I bought the cross controller pack in PSN store, so I can’t say if something went wrong with you buying it in game.

Did you have the PSVita connected to the PS3 by the USB cable and do you have the Remote play app booted up, then the Cross Controller picture tapped on the right side before you go on PS3 to the downloaded cross controller pack in the pod in LBP2 in Store/My Stuff section?

@TheMART. I also purchased off psn but just says purchased on the in game store so cant do it that way i have tried with usb connected and not connected i dont know if i have tried it the way you are stating but will give it a try and let you know and thanks for trying to help.

Thought so Steve you don’t know what you saying. Just to prove my point also it told me I need about 500mb left for it so I deleted the LBP-via from my vita as you said I do not need it but now instead on cross controller.

I’m not getting any downloading Kb or mb it just step 1, so i need the lb-vita then the 100kb file on it. I do Not need to play on LBP-vita to use it but I need it on my vita.

Ppl when you buy the DLC today how many download file do you had? I got two, what do the 2nd file icon says? it says vita.

So now I’m downloading all of it back it take ing ages :|

no not working set it up same went into my stuff on game went to planet clicked that and still no response from the vita…..

Try to describe more precise as I can’t make up what you do exaclty…

You had PSVIta connected to the PS3 with the USB cable and the Remote control app started, then tapped on the right side the Cross Control? You got that blue screen on PSVita with the PS3 and PSVita both drawn on it?

You went to planet, you mean you were on the Pod, then you went to the store in the pod of LBP2, went to ‘My Stuff’ and clicked on the Cross Controller DLC pack on the PS3?

Neither of the devices asked to connect or did anything?

@ Bopper

A website made a tutorial with pictures, maybe this can help you out

http://terminalgamer.com/2012/12/19/how-to-setup-littlebigplanet-2-ps3-and-the-ps-vita-for-cross-controller-play/

NightRanma 19 December, 2012 @ 11:23 pm   84

Are you people serious? Charging to be able to use cross-controller? Way to totally ruin one of the original interesting things about the Vita that was announced before release. Take almost a bloody year to actually get it out, then expect people to pay money for a 209 KILOBYTE file.

@TheMART yes thats exactly what i did the blue screen on the vita and the black screen on the ps3 telling me to start cross controller on the vita and nothings happening.

@ NightRanma, they don’t

You pay for the new story you get in the pack. The cross control works for free with user made cross control levels.

Second, the data for the DLC storymode itself is in the LBP update, it is activated with the key you buy/download which is a 100 or 200KB file.

It has been like this more often, with former Pirates of the Carribbean and Metal Gear Solid pack too.

@TheMART i cant even get the vita to install the controller pack from the ps3 it says cannot download when on content manager what am i doing wrong? remote between the 2 is fine it just wont download through content manager to the vita

Kurupt_El_Don 19 December, 2012 @ 11:38 pm   88

right this is bcummin extremely frustrating now..i simply cant make it work..!!!!!!!tried to copy the ps vita add on using content manager but it wont let me..does anyone know how to make it work??thanks

I’m spamming the same link another time, maybe you both haven’t seen it yet…

http://terminalgamer.com/2012/12/19/how-to-setup-littlebigplanet-2-ps3-and-the-ps-vita-for-cross-controller-play

@Kurupt_EI_Don im having the same problem click on the bubble on ps3 then connect vita then content manager go to ps3/vita click copy and it says cannot copy the following content this application cannot be copied on the ps vita are you getting the same……i really want to punch my vita now but its looking at me.

oh, take away the space at ‘littlebigpl anet’ in that link or otherwise it won’t work. My tablet makes a strange breakup in that link for no reason

@ Bopper

I got that ‘cannot copy the following content’ to PSVIta also, check the link I just gave and continue after you got that.

@TheMART yes seen it but cant copy the bubble on ps3 to vita via content manager meaning no application on the vita for cross play it says cannot copy the following content i think people are getting the same outcome as me like i said all lbp vita dlc i did this way but this just will not its like the ps3 version of the app is trying to install on the vita even though on the dash it says it is for the vita….ive got a headache now.

@TheMART it says go through content manager to connect the ps3 to vita i presume it means downloaded from ps3 then you get the pack you tick it and copy then after that it refuses to copy.

No the bubble on PS3 to vita in content manager didn’t work for me either.

That is not how the application on PSVita gets installed though…

The Cross Controller app gets on your PSVita by using the REMOTE CONTROL app that is already there on your system. If that is started + chosen for cross control after it is started, connected to PS3 with LBP2 running in the pod the Store/My Stuff and then Cross Control DLC clicked, THEN it transfers the 482 MB file which makes the app on your PSVita

Forget about that bubble on your PS3 for now, that one is NOT making a new app on your PSVita. Read the tutorial on the link another time really

Steven Wrote: “With the exception of the Vitanator, all of the news tools and goodies can be used in your community levels without requiring a PlayStation Vita!

The Worm Hole, Materials, Decorations, Music and so much more will all be useful to any creator looking to expand their tool bag! :)”

Just bought the pack and I’m either doing something wrong or Steven was lying..
No materials/tools etc. come unlocked at the start, I take it you have to find them in the levels like most level kits.. But how am I supposed to even do that? I can’t even access the levels because it’s telling me to connect my Vita which I don’t own!

So either Steven didn’t explain properly or I’m doing something wrong… I hope I haven’t wasted some money.

Any help?

Kurupt_El_Don 20 December, 2012 @ 1:37 am   97

TigerLust 20 December, 2012 @ 8:22 am   98

Hi, I am one of those without a Vita that has been enjoying the DLC Pack – however, I played over 20 community cross-controller levels and my pin still shows 0/5 progress for the trophy. I actually played with a friend who has a Vita, and he got the trophy, but no progress on my end. Can you fix this?

Does not work for me either, and I have tried all the above.

Skookie30 20 December, 2012 @ 9:35 am   100

right i sleep it off leave alone, downloaded LBP–vita it patch & the 2nd file onto the vita the 1st file onto LBP2. now when i try press cross controller im not getting steps2 that download the App onto the Vita.

there must have pulled from the servers Now i want my money Back.

Kurupt_El_Don 20 December, 2012 @ 9:51 am   101

@Skookie30 and Tod_UK i know how it feels been like 3 or 4 hours just to figure it out..all you need to do is to read the post nr 46 and it will work..any doubts let us know.

I got it to work with both my PS3s, and with both the Digital and the Retail version.

Let’s see if I remember the correct procedure:

1. On your PS3, make sure your Vita is registered for your PS3 with Remote Play. I did this over a private network, using WiFi.
- For this, go to the settings menu on the PS3 and choose register remote play devices, and then Vita. You should get a code to type in on your Vita.
- Next, start up Remote Play on your Vita, click the three dot menu in the bottom right corner, choose settings, then register with PS3.
- Now you should be able to type in the code that is shown on PS3.

Even if you think you’ve done this before, you may want to do it again.

2. Start up LBP2. If there are any updates, it will install these now. My digital version on my one PS3 was up-to-date thanks to Plus. The retail one I started on my other PS3 wasn’t, and had to install 9 updates, the last of which was 1GB.

3. Go to the Store, and buy and install the Cross Controller DLC. This should give you basically two unlock keys, as the content for the update was in the last LBP2 patch you installed under 2.

4. When it’s done installing, go back to your pod, and choose the ‘Cross Controller’ option. When you get to the screen where it says start up Cross Controller on your Vita, go to your Vita and on the Remote Play home screen, press the Cross Controller icon instead of Remote Play.

5. Click Next on Vita. It should find the PS3 and move to step 2, where it starts downloading the LBP Remote Play app for your Vita. Once that’s completed (something like 463MB), it will go to step 3 and prompt you to exit the Cross Controller App. Press the Home button on your Vita, and you’ll see the LBP Remote App installing immediately.

6. Start this App on your Vita. Now you can start playing the Cross Controller levels on PS3.

From the top of my head, but I think that’s it. Let me know if I missed something.

Incidentally, when I tried this with my other PS3 and the Retail version, it needed to download and install the LBP Vita Remote Play app again before it could work.

@Kurupt_El_Don My Ps3 and Vita are in the same ip range, have same default gateway, same DNS servers, same subnet. Still does not work.

Skookie30 20 December, 2012 @ 12:01 pm   105

I total give up I try once more it went to 340mb then it resets fail now it just not passing the KB stops at 7691kb & the 1st message shows again. :(

Skookie30 20 December, 2012 @ 12:04 pm   106

It funny when my vita is type2 near works now I had issues of the past when my vita was stuck in nat type 3.

I shall try later it could be the servers too being busy.

Bumblebee 20 December, 2012 @ 2:18 pm   107

I tried for AGES last night to get this working.

I’m in IT support so I’m no noobie to networking etc. yet still this baffled me.

First problem was finding the content on LBP2. Eventually found it under “My Stuff” in the store.

Vita has been linked for Remote Play since day dot but after failing to connect last night, I re-did it and set up Vita on a static IP address with network settings same as for PS3 (besides the assigned IP address).

Basically get as far as “Start the Cross Controller app on the Vita”, then where I’m supposed to get an app come down, it won’t… Got no messages that anything is downloading, no errors, just a churning connection icon.

Got about 520MB free space left on my 32GB card. Please don’t tell me I need more. And if I do need more, er, then it should tell me.

This is PATHETIC, by the way. Once again Sony have messed up something that should be dead simple.

Can’t we AT LEAST have Remote Play for LBP2?

Hi,

I’m a little confused with all the different terms being used.

Does this post mean that I will be able to play the single campaign of LPB2 on my vita using remote play or only to use the vita as an extra controller for only a selection of community made levels? How does this work?

Thanks for the clarification

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 2:52 pm   109

@Kurupt_el_don no i aint got it working have tried everything done the network checks and even changed the last digit on ip address as another site stated i feel with all these problems people are having somebody from playstation should be on with a step by step guide my remote play works fine so both consoles are on the same network if i have missed something could you help me please.

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 2:57 pm   110

@ziaro_7 my ip address on ps3 ends in 10 so do i change it to 11 and keep it at ten on the vita please help.

Bumblebee 20 December, 2012 @ 3:16 pm   111

Isn’t it nice how Sony flog us something then eff off and leave us to work out how to get it running?

COME ON SONY/MEDIA MOLECULE/SANTA.

GIVE US A FLIPPIN’ CLUE.

@ B_Bopper

Did you stop trying to install the cross controller bubble/download on the PS3 to the PSVita?

I get the feeling you want to have the cross controller app the wrong way.

On every PSVita there on the main screen the Remote Control app out of the box. You need to enter that app and then select ‘Cross control’ at the right side, etc etc rest of the stuff as said in previous posts.

I get the feeling that many people think they’re getting stuck after downloading the LBP2 Cross Controller DLC from PSN and then think the cross controller bubble will pop up after transferring the file on PS3 to PSVita, which isn’t where the 482MB Cross Controller app comes from…

I had it up and running in one try and I ain’t an ICT employee or whatever.

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 4:02 pm   113

@TheMART no give up with the bubble lol its only costumes i think. Its the cross control vita to ps3 from game i tried it all wired unwired its like my vita and ps3 wont combine wirelessly for cross control yet the remote play works i thought it would just be go on game press cross controller boot up vita remote play then press cross controller then it works as they say it doesn’t do what it says on the tin lol.

Bumblebee 20 December, 2012 @ 4:57 pm   114

Just to confirm with the people who think the people who are failing are being stupid.

When I choose Cross Controller on the Vita, after getting the message on the PS3 to run the Cross Controller function on the Vita (via the Remote Play icon) [in order to download the correct file], I get no response from the Vita.

Just a churning icon trying to connect;

No messages of 483MB files needed;

No error messages;

Just a churning, churning icon.

This despite my Vita & PS3 Network settings being perfect; and Remote Play works without issue on the [VERY] few programs that use it.

£4 I paid, and a whole night I wasted trying to use the ruddy thing.

Perhaps I need 483MB x 2 space on my Vita card for this? 483MB for the download and 483MB space left after download to install it?

Perhaps this is the case? IF SO CAN SOMEONE FROM SONY SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE SITUATION PLEASE?

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 5:05 pm   115

@TheMART cheers pal thanks for the help ive done it downloading now also thanks to Kurupt_EI_Don for your help if anybody does not understand let me know i can put it in lamens terms for you.

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 5:10 pm   116

@Bumblebee all you do is change your ip address on your ps3 your vita stays the same as it was for instance my last digits on the ps3 were 10 i changed to 11 and kept the vita last digits at 10 then all the settings router gateway/dns stay the same write them in your vita settings and voila!!!remember your only changing the ps3 ip adress by 1 vita stays as original let me know if it works for you mines downloading now i god i have struggled ask TheMART lol.

andrew30101978 20 December, 2012 @ 5:28 pm   117

Well i spoke to sony today where they say for some customers who got it working that was lucky. They identify a issue where the vita file cant install direct as it has no where to go and will require to be remedied

@ Bumblebee

Did you try it with the PSVita connected to PS3 with an USB cable too, not just wirelessly?

ANd B_Bopper

CONGRATS MATE! Enjoy that LBP2 DLC pack tonight, so it was just an IP problem at your side?

No problemo, good to see we all together try to solve it for everyone to enjoy this.

But Sony should really make this process easier, with a problem solving app on both PSVita and PS3 that can do some checks maybe for IP etc. Something like how the Network check is done. I dunno. Make it easier, to many people are struggling.

B_BOPPER 20 December, 2012 @ 6:03 pm   119

@TheMART thanks yes been on it no problems your right its disgraceful that sony aint jumped on this problem yet but like you said everybody helping is good to see maybe i’ll be able to help with a problem next time to everybody else dont give up and read the posts if your struggling ask for help its ther if you need it.

I have found out what stops mine working – basically the PS Vita must have a manual IP address, it can not be set on automatic.

I have done a step by step guide here: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/LittleBigPlanet-PS3-PS-Vita/Cross-Controller/m-p/17828606#M82400

My PSVita is on automatic, no manual IP adress and its working.

I guess when its not working on DHCP set it to manual then.

Yeah, maybe it is something to do with my router. I am on Virgin Media Superhub – maybe something to do with that. Would be interesting to hear what others are using with the fault.

B_BOPPER 21 December, 2012 @ 2:48 pm   123

@Tod_UK I am on virgin media superhub its not the router that is the problem its the ps3 network settings you can change the ip address there THAT is all you need to change like i said in an earlier post(on the ps3 change the last digit of your ip address example if it is 10 change it to 11 but keep the original ip address on the vita so keep it at 10 before these steps to enter manually make a note of default gateway, primary dns and secondry dns the others stay as they were rewrite all them in manually even on the vita Manually.the vita ip and ps3 ip have to be different by 1 number on the last digit or it wont work once done load up lbp 2 nothing else then go to cross controller follow instructions load up the vita remote play then cross control WIRELESS and it will download if all the steps are correct dont forget change ip address on ps3 only last digit by 1 vita stays the same nothing else.

Bumblebee 21 December, 2012 @ 3:02 pm   124

My PS3 aand Vita have both been set up with manual IP settings.

Why on Earth would changing the IP address of my PS3 by 1 make any difference? I have it all set up correctly anyway.

I do networking stuff ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY for my job so I know what I’m doing when it comes to network settings.

What we really need is SOME HELP FROM SONY.

DZORMAGEN 21 December, 2012 @ 4:21 pm   125

LBP Cross Controller STILL NOT WORKING!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK SONY!!!! Keep fooling your customers!! THIS IS THE LAST TIME I BUY ANYTHING FROM YOU GUYS!!!

B_BOPPER 21 December, 2012 @ 7:10 pm   126

@Bumblebee maybe your right i’m a mechanical engineer and didn’t have a clue have you tried changing it yet it works have a little faith i thought the same mine was set up perfectly but itdoes work with no difference to the wireless connection just try it!

B_BOPPER 21 December, 2012 @ 7:16 pm   127

@Bumblebee read post 46 if your in I.T it should be a doddle understanding it.

B_BOPPER 21 December, 2012 @ 7:21 pm   128

@billy-beauts read post 46 the bit about the ip addresses and changing by 1 it works i did it last night with no problems and i was really struggling.

RazerBlue6 23 December, 2012 @ 9:28 pm   129

Hi, Steven, can you give me an awser on one question? I’ve spend €5 on this pack, you’ve said we’d get three interactive songs, but instead, I only can find one. Where are the other two? I really want an anwser. And if they are in the pack, please tell where they are!!!

man-of-cake 27 December, 2012 @ 7:17 am   130

I just completed the and 100% and aced all the levels, but when I went to see what I collected I noticed that 2 interactive tracks were missing…is that some sort of glitch?

Ok Guys here’s how I’ve finally got it to work after a few head banging hours!

On your PS3 go to network settings and look for your ip address 192. . . Ect (don’t change this)

Now on psvita go to network settings and start copying from ip address down (default gateway, primary, secondary ect) make sure they match!!!!

Now follow sony’s rubbish instructions and it should work!

Come on Sony you should of worked this issue out and posted something by now!

Mennenth 5 January, 2013 @ 5:38 am   132

I guess I’m one of the lucky ones that got it working with no hitch first time. But I’m going to complain anyway.
Why is cross controller done over wifi?! Seriously. Remote play can be done over private connection between the vita and ps3, the regular controllers are via bluetooth, data management is via usb, yet the one thing that allows the ps3/vita to make the wiiu look old despite being the newest gaming device on the market, is crippled by needing an external 3rd device that can get bogged down when network traffic is heavy, leading to death by input lag?
And of course its executed poorly. What with this whole ip mess and needing to not only be on the same router but also the same network.
Its a really good idea. However, the execution of the idea has been total crap.
Should have utilized the remote plays “private connection”. Would have made the whole process of getting it set up far easier, and wouldnt require a 3rd device to handle the communications between the 2.
