Good morning all. I hope you’re having a relaxing weekend, and enjoyed 2013′s first full week of PlayStation Blogging. It started off sleepily enough, but we ended on a bang with a couple of pleasing PS Vita reveals – an EU release for dashing platformer Sumioni, and a first look at Velocity Ultra from high-achieving indie Futurlab.
On top of that, we also took the wraps off LittleBigPlanet 2: Extras Edition, launched the new God of War: Ascension beta and debuted a fresh Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time trailer. Not a bad week, I’d say.
There’s lots more good stuff in the pipeline for next week too. Look out for a guest post from Retro City Rampage creator Brian Provinciano, word on a handful of new PS Vita titles, and plenty more besides. Oh, and we’ll be welcoming irrepressible Derrick the Deathfin developer Gordon Midwood back onto the Blog too! See you back here tomorrow!

Should be a good week for the Vita. Looking forward to EDF the most (hopefully there isn’t a horrible surprise in the pricing), but Sumioni is a nice surprise. I stopped asking about it months ago because the answer was always “no news”. Jet Set Radio for Plus too, should be good.
I do have a couple questions, as always.
1. Sly 4. Can you reveal anything about the price? Or will that be happening later? I’m sure you’re aware that the US blog announced the PS3 version would only cost $40.
2. Are there any plans for Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus to make it’s way, translated an uncensored, to the EU Store? It’s a bizarre novelty but I’d have no shame in buying it just to support the practice of localising any and every game possible.

Senran Kagura – that might be a longshot, but you never know. You’ll need to start petitioning Marvelous!

The Sly demo is on its way to the EU. I don’t have a date to announce today, but we’ll have more news on that (and pricing) here on the Blog soon.

How much will Demon’s Souls cost when its released on PSN this month?
I’m up for platinuming it a second time (only got the NTSC plat) and if the price is right I’ll get the downloadble version.

I *think* 19.99 – but I will double check on Monday.

Sad that Ni No Kuni was delayed a week. I can’t wait for it. Even thought I am still going through Assassin’s Creed 3 and still have to play Sleeping Dogs and Dishonored.

Hello Fred
Nice first week of blogging and school for me, I cannotnwait for the weeks and months to come esspecially excited for the Destination PlayStation event, which is rumoured to be the reveal of the next gen PlayStation console which makes alot of sence as ps3 has been going for 6 years now. Alot of spectacular games coming too, alot which I am very excited for.
Continuing from next gen console talk even of ps4 is announced I think ps3 will lightly last as long as ps2 did I mean I watched a vid on youtube typed in ps2 unboxing and people in 2011 unboxing ps2s so ps3 will still be valuable in another 6 years after ps4 is released.
Thanks for your time Fred

@5 (Lucreto).
I’m also gutted that we have to wait till Feb. 1st for Ni No Kuni, though Namco have offered us a free ‘Draggle’ familiar to download on launch day as way of compensation.
Better late than never mind!

Hi Fred,
Please can you add the Assassin’s Creed 3 Avatars to the PS Store, as America has had them since June last year.
Also, why is it taking so long for Wake Up Club, America had it this week, it’s an app made by you, so what’s the hold up?
Adam.

Hi Fred,
Can we get any confirmation on if SingStars downloaded tracks will be compatible with the PS4?
I’d feel a lot more confident buying them if that were the case.
Also it’s missing a lot of great artists like Matchbox 20, Blink-182, The Killers, Kanye West, Green Day, Linkin Park, Live etc. More rock less old stuff

What’s the odds on that?!

@ Vannaa_Girl
I’m confused! The blog never went away!?!?
As for Sly Cooper. I highly recommend picking up the HD trilogy. Still 2 months until Thieves in Time is released over here in the EU so I’m sure you could get through those 3 before then
If you are a trophy hunter then Sly 1 & 2 both have pretty easy Platinums too!
Sly 3 being a little trickier due to some additional time trials.
@ FORCE
Haha what gave it away matey?? The two Danish (I think it’s Danish) flags?

@Fred
Is Gordon the one from Tuna based games based company?
I can’t quite put my finger on it but there is something fishy about about that guy…
*sorry I couldn’t resist!!
Derrik the Deathfin is a great little game and EXCELLENT value for money (about £3 I think it was with the PS+ discount).
I REALLY REALLY hope he is planning a project for the Vita and if he is then Sony should get behind it 100% even help finance the project if money is an issue.
I know that isn’t your call Fred but I’m sure you can lean on a few people
*I think I maybe jumping the gun just a tad?!?

@ AeonsDead
The Vita is getting Pinball Arcade for one of its PS+ games this month.
It will be interesting to see if it is just the base game or a couple of DLC tables thrown in as well!?
If it is just the base game then I am hoping for the DLC to be quite heavily reduced in price and if it isn’t then I’ll just be taking the PS+ offering and leave any extra tables until they are put into a sale at some point in the future.
Maybe Chris Howe can shed some light on this.
@Chris Howe ^^^ can you shed any light on the above please

yes on you other commment, i thought Derrik the deathfin was alot of fun, it should get a Vita version.
If only Sony could help more, Vita is a great platform for Indie titles and they should push that as much as possible

Hello,
Please could you clarify if Jade Cocoon will ever be released on the PSN like it was in Japan five years ago?
I just gave Jade Cocoon to a friend and would love to have a permanent copy.
Jade Cocoon would also be a really good game for people looking to buy Ni No Kuni due to the art style which was done by Katsuya Kondo who is lead character design of Jade Cocoon and member of Studio Ghibli being the same.
Thank you very much.

Posting this here as I dont want to go off topic on other posts and dont want to be disrespectful to the devs/publishers that are posting.
I’m starting to get concerned that the vita is becoming a destination for ports of tablet/smartphone games at inflated prices, I bought the console because of the versatility it offered to developers and the great potential it offered for one of a kind games that were not able to be done on other platforms, now as we fast approach its western 1 year birthday I keep seeing ports and nothing revolutionary on the horizon other than tearaway. The vita needs more original titles that are made by first party developers if the machine is to be a success, yes it’s nice to have physical buttons on these tablet ports but not at twice the price.
Plus is great but even the 2 games this month are ports(great games dont get me wrong) Nintendo pushes original content on the 3ds that you cant play anywhere else and far more frequently than Sony has on vita, we need more original content take my money I’ll buy it.
Rant over
Signed
Disillusioned vita owner

Sorry to hear you’re feeling that way
All I can say is that there is some great stuff in the pipeline. Retro City Rampage, Orgarhythm, Earth Defense Force and Sumioni are all out tomorrow if you need a quick fix. The phenomenal Persona 4 Golden follows in a few weeks. We’ve got Tearaway, Killzone, Soul Sacrifice, Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank all on the radar. Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, Dokuro, Velocity Ultra and Ragnarok are inbound, and there’s cool stuff coming out of Japan such as Muramasa, Devil’s Crown, God Eater and Toukiden that will hopefully head west. And that’s all off the top of my head.
It’s only January – there’ll be plenty of announcements over the coming months. Hold tight!
Also, thanks for posting in the right place!

Hayzink
have to agree, its also extremely disappointing that we have to wait around 6 months or longer for vita games coming out in the US
also the cost of memory cards for the vita or excessive especially as seemingly vita titles are moving to download only. The whole issue of downloading games wouldn’t be so problematic if they would somehow sort the download list demo, ps2, psn, ps3, psp, avatar, theme, vita. Having over 800 items in the download list to sort through is a chore at best and nightmare at the most extreme

Thanks Fred I had forgotten about persona I’ll no doubt give that a go as I see handhelds as the perfect destinations for rpgs and no doubt e3 could hold some surprises.
Sorry about the moan, rough week
