Checking the store update this morning I must admit that I’m a little disappointed at the usual “Not available in AU/NZ” for a large proportion of the content.
As mentioned previously, it’s not about the lack of an R rating, but the prohibitive cost of classifying content through systems other than PEGI.
Taking Australia as an example, there are three possible fees depending on the information submitted with the classification request: $1210, $890 or $2460 if the game has to be demonstrated. There is even a $420 fee for priority processing. Whilst these fees are nothing for Sony, for small developers/publishers, I’d imagine they are significant.
The issue I have comes down to communication with the Sony faithful here on the blog. Including AU/NZ on blog posts marketing the content, then adding “Not available in AU/NZ” in the store update indicates that you’re just not paying attention to the details. It’s very frustrating. (cont).

The fact that our prices are significantly higher than EU/US based on the stable exchange-rate doesn’t help your relationship with the ANZAC market. You could justify this with the indie titles (due to classification fees) but not for the AAA titles.
Let’s see Sony treat this market a little more seriously. I would suggest that if a smaller title gets PEGI certification, then Sony should cover the AU/NZ classification fees to ensure that their platform continues to provide diverse range of content across all markets.
And lets see some serious thought into pricing… have you thought that the lack of sales in this market is due to significant imports from Europe due to the price disparity? Bring down the prices, increase the sales, justify the classification cost.

Hi Jawad,
I read an article on Polygon that Mortal Kombat: Komplete Ed is getting submitted for an R18+ classification in Australia. If it passes classification will it then be made available to Australian PS+ members for PS3 and Vita?
It seems that there are some unhappy Australian’s posting about the lack of PS+ content available to us. Can some alternatives be substituted in? Perhaps Wipeout 2048, Escape Plan or Pac-Man CE DX.
Additionally for Mega Man’s 25th Anniversary will Mega Man 9 & 10 come to PS+ for Europe as it did for the US?
Cheers

Hi
Any news on when is Sumioni: Demon Arts coming to a UAE store? the not available section of this game is so long! Is it because it’s scheduled for next week or there aren’t any plans on bringing it to those regions?

Im sorry but why is that? How come it can’t be available straight away everywhere?

Will Mass Effect avatars be released on the PS Store in the near future? I saw quite a few threads asking about them on Bioware’s forums. There aren’t really any avatars for Bioware’s games right now..

Should I bother to change the text? do not seem to get replies..
Cant you guys play nice whis NIS and get the games and DLC here? or atleast let UK accounts gift those games to us in the not avavible countries?
Is the NIS not getting to release DLC in Scandinavia still secret?
Still not seeing Disgaea 3 on the Vita..
Or is it that the SCEE is stupid enough to demand native language descriptions on dlc when most countries in EU have a rather good grasp of english.
(Pretty sure its been close to confirmed that this is the issue)
Next point, when will the following PSP games be avavible on the Store? The ones whit (VITA) is not vita compatible. Sideloading thru PS3 do not make a game vita compatible in this list.
Final Fantasy Crisis Core
Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone Complex
Invizimals
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleap
PoPoLoCrois
Tales of Eternia
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology
Thrillville
Valkyria Chronicles 2 (Not Vita Compatible)
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth

Are you guys kidding me with retro city rampage, been waiting ages for a euro psn release then when it FINALLY releases it is NOT available in Australia. What on earth is going on at Sony HQ??!!!! Don’t say it’s because of our ratings system because as of January 1st we have an R18 classification on video games. Annoyed doesn’t begin to describe my feeling toward Sony Europe

Super disappointed that RCR is delayed for Australia… Just another reason to hate Playstation and the terrible PSN….
What is more disappointing that it can’t be released on PS3 means we get no cross buy, so we are getting another handicap….
I do not want the game cheaper or free because of these handiaps, they are PSN fault and not the dev….
A major shame on you as you said you listen, at least you do but right in 2013 and you have already proved there is nothing has changed on the PSN service, you have just proven not only screwed the customer but the dev as well, I mean how can it not be on PS3 but on XBOX360, Wii, WiiU and PC in Australia…
Well it just make me not buy off PSN or it services as makes me feel like I am supporting a terrible service, service that failed so quickly in 2013…
Oh well time to invest on the next XBOX thats coming out, I do not want PS4 if its tied to such a terrible service.

You disrespect us SCEE. You disrespect us twofold. First, by teasing us with blog entries and then not giving us the games we got all hyped for. Second, by ignoring polite questions about those games being available in other countries at some point. This is just disgusting practice. We would be fully justified to slap you in the face with a gloved brick for something like that.

I reckon that a boycott on PSN is needed, well after you purchase RCR… I will support the dev to the ends of the earth…
I mean how can they keep disrespect such a good dev, I mean do they seriously want to drive away mobile indie devs away from Vita to Android and Apple….
Oh wait from what I heard only devs passionate of Vita platform are developing for Vita…. So great work at getting devs… I mean I never seen so few companies/devs committed to working on a platform… Oh wait I did Dreamcast and that failed and got Sega out of console business, Hint, Hint…
Seems like the business practices at SONY is just driving customers but devs as well… Keep up the great work, all you doing is killing off the SONY brand bit by bit, piece by piece…

Posted on 17 January, 2013 at 12:56 am by lagunareturns
Last thing I want to say, PSN really needs to get their act together, I mean look at most of the end users, most will ask other people are you on XBOX live…
Not many will ask another person are you on PSN…. Why it is a joke compared to the features you get on XBOX live, and not many bother use it as most Sony console end users still very rarely play their systems online…
I mean look at the console sales and then look at how many are online… I mean you increased more users onto PSN by advertising (singstar icon that wont seem go away is a major example) and forcing it upon them….
276
Posted on 17 January, 2013 at 12:56 am by lagunareturns
I really do not appreciate the several emails advertising PSN Plus for Vita, I know its there, it is rubbish to me until you offer some decent games or services or decent discount… You can’t as the platform is way to immature… I mean one email is enough, but that is not it when accessing PSN now on Vita, I got keep seeing add after ad about it as well…. What you think I am dumb, what you think constant will make me buy it, NO I will change my mind when you offer better content and better service…. But since failed both with the first update, an update on RCR especially…
You have seriously hurt one of your loyal supporters…. I can only expect more pain from a service….

JET SET RADIO is broken. Keeps looping the pause menu when you start up the game. Am I doing something wrong? The demo worked fine”
This. So first we don’t get Xmas deals like USA got them for PSVita, then there are no PSVita deals at the early January festival sales and now the one free game we DO get in January is broke.
Nice. Vita means life. This platform is slowly dying this way.

@TheMART; Care to step off the bandwagon? Sure, plenty are complaining but that doesn’t mean everything should become a complaint. That one quote even asks if the player is doing something wrong. I’ll rephrase; JSR plays just fine.

There’s something wrong with jet set radio vita. I went new game and after the cutscene it opens the pause menu and every time I press back the pause menu keeps opening up. What’s up with that?

Eh… Dude, I downloaded JSR myself and it gives this exact same error.
Nice it plays fine for you, it doesn’t for me. Gives the same error as was posted before by others.
And for me restarting the game gives the same error. When trying to play it, it flips back to the menu. I’ll start it again another time, to see if the error remains.

Jet Set Radio doesn’t work on the VITA. The pause menu keeps coming up automatically making the game unplayable. Please fix.

A bug in JSR Vita… So delaying it did not help the platform and now that it is buggy….
I hope Sony new plan with the Vita is to kill it off…
I mean I got a game breaking bug in Life of Pixel for Vita, I submitted to the issue to the devs and they say they fix it… Ok then explain to me how to update the game, I mean the game has no refresh to show an update button… The bug can be found with a single play though the game I mean when talked about it in this blog could you not find it…
Yes Sony make me regret getting Vita more and more…. And this blog makes me want to bi5ch slap you with my Vita, you are joke and becoming bigger joke every update

After getting past the “continuous menu” bug in Jet Set Radio, I’ve had two full application crashes… one at the end of the tutorial and one as I was just completing the second level/mission.
It’s a pretty shoddy port.

Can you please stop forcing devs to write their store description in Swedish!?
The text for RCR is just garbage in the Swedish store, how is that any better than proper English?
Why????
How can it be better for consumers, Sony and the devs that the games either have a crappy Swedish translation or they are not realesed at all?
Seriously!

For this to work it would need to be big, like gamers from all mistreated countries stopping buying content from PSN for a few weeks…

I don’t understand why do we need Polish description for a game that is IN ENGLISH, if someone doesn’t understand (haha riiiight) English description they sure aren’t going understand the game itself…

Yeh this RCR on Vita in Australia and New Zealand isn’t a stuff up by the dev, it falls clearly in the laps of SCEE. As for the amount of time it’s taking to fix the problem to get us the game, well it’s ridiculous. The store update was over 12 hours ago, and yes I realise that means it has been night time in the UK, but I don’t see how this problem happened in the first place. Surely when you go to update the store you double check the region availabilities.
Why is it that it’s only ever games that are allowed not showing up, not the other way around? It’d be awesome if SCEE stuffed up and allowed something like Mortal Kombat on Vita in Australia by accident but that’s beside the point. You guys could avoid a whole lot of drama if you just double checked before you put through the update.

So, once again the blog is ignored after a few replies to the “easy” questions. Why are you ignoring questions regarding Sumioni in Scandinavia and other countries?
Poor show, SCEE. Your service and customer commitment is absolutely appalling.
If you’re tired of “uncomfortable” questions, I suggest you do A LOT better in getting content out to all your customers and do it quickly before other companies eat your lunch. SCEE is in a state of totally inept incompetence at the moment.
By the way, where’s the YouTube app for my Vita? Is that outside your sphere of competence as well? If these simple things are such massive roadblocks for you, I fear for the future of Sony. I’ve had YouTube on my Apple devices for ages now, apparently it was very easy for Apple.
Thanks for nothing.
