Community update: Grow your PSN friend list

ps3

Hello bloggers, I hope you had a great weekend! It’s time for my weekly roundup of what is happening in the Official PlayStation Community!

Are you struggling to find like-minded gamers to add to your PSN friend list? Well fear not, we are here to help! We have set up this handy portal for you to meet your fellow buddies and boost that friend list of yours! All you need to do is add a few details about what you play and at what time you get your gaming on! Add your details here and get that friend list bulging!

Our Forum community challenged RoninGT, a well-known elite Gran Turismo team which consists of some members who regularly make it into the top 50 drivers of the GT Academy and one of their members has even made it into the GT Academy National finals, not once but twice!

Our PlayStation Forum Community wanted to take the step up and take on the big cheese of the GT world and see how they fared.

So, all of last week they’ve been racing using specific cars and tracks chosen by either team. If you want to find out how they got on and what driver actually became the overall champion, then take a look at where all the action has been taking place in the GT board.

We came together, united our communities, collaborated and competed in an inter-community glorious set of races. There were tears of joy and despair, laughter and nerves but everyone played apart and ultimately it wasn’t the winning that mattered, it was abiding by the Honourable Drivers Code. Which itself is a must if you would like to join in the SuperFastSunday’s (SFS) hosted by the RoninGT team themselves.

Let me finish off with a competition! We are offering the chance to win some goodies in our Texas Chainsaw 3D competition where you can win the following goodies:

  • Cabin in the Woods Blu-ray
  • Drag Me to Hell Blu-ray
  • Saw III Blu-ray
  • Texas Chainsaw 3D t-shirt
  • Texas Chainsaw 3D mouse mat
  • Texas Chainsaw 3D poster

All you need to do is head over to this thread and answer the incredibly easy question. Good luck!

Did you enjoy this?

You can never have enough online buddies, especially for the games you enjoy! No shortage of people to buddy up with!

Please release different colour ps3 for the u.k and europe.

u.k and europe is sonys biggest market for console sales.

Black is getting rather boring of a colour now, come on sony experiment with new colours for the console just think how many more you would sell.

I would love a silver super slim ps3 that comes with a 500gb hd.
Come on sony, you know you want to.

For a second (When I just read the title) I was thinking that there was going to be an increase in the max number for friends in the friend list :(

almighty-slayer 21 January, 2013 @ 12:49 pm   6

I can’t because it’s full! Hope friend limit increases above 100 for PS4 :( It was hard with 100 friends on PS3, but manageable. 100 between PS3 and Vita is impossible.

Lunastra78 21 January, 2013 @ 1:08 pm   7

No point in having a huge friend list just to feel popular. I recently deleted half my list(as i neared the limit) leaving mostly ppl i know in real life, gamers i message often, and ppl who have exquisite taste in games. So good-bye 24-7 COD gamers. ;)

    Chris Owen 21 January, 2013 @ 4:10 pm

I have quite a diverse bunch in my friends-list as I play a number of different games and genres. It’s always handy to have someone to join in with the on-line fun!

Increase the limit above 100, then I should do. :D

Fix Playstation Store, i can’t add funds after the latest maintenance, before that it worked without problem.

9@ them need to fix the new store total
like pc store = lots better

but howh u pay ?
-prepay cards
-ore via credit cards
-other ( i hope to see one day tru sms )

10@

Credit card, tried VISA and Mastercard, the store accept my card but when i try to transfer money im getting error (56).

And it’s not working on pc store either.

I have also the opposite problem, deleting and adding friends everyday almost becouse of the limitation, atleast after I bought the vita it got a serious problem, pleace atleast double if not more allowed friends (its not that friendly deleting friends is it..) When next gen comes its not easy to gain new friends when youre already at max..

If SCEE would want to offer something really useful to find new friends, I’d suggest a real database and not such a plain thread.

Should be relatively easy to achieve. By the trophy list it should be possible to find people with similar game tastes, which one could refine by mentioning favored games and genres.
Add age, gender, location, playing time and bingo, you’d have some sweet tool for anyone to find candidates of his/her choice.

Sounds good in theory but when it comes to storing peoples personal details in a database (albeit just PSN ID’s) you start running into legal issues.

@Chris Owen
Well of course I wouldn’t suggest to use such data without the owner’s consent. But it could be something like those dating/partnership site, just for gamers. If you are interested, drop you data and done.
You could even grant the option to only insert the kind of data the person wants to share.

It isn’t really a problem to find other random gamers for one’s friends list, my own boosted from around 40 up to 80 since I own a Vita. But there are rarely some from my age or with my gaming preferences among them. So I frequently end up with deleting them.

damn i read the title and thought it was an increase in the amount of friends we can have which is needed more than this for many many of us ps3 gamers o well never mind lol

dark_angel69 21 January, 2013 @ 5:21 pm   16

I always have a full friends list. Some for different gaming and some for just chatting, etc. There is always people getting added and deleted (them doing the adding). Those who haven’t been on in like 12 months or so get deleted. You would be doing me a big favor if you can double the the friends list now up to 200.

I have no need to do this to find players as they always find me (when i kick ass!!) but if we have a bigger friends list then suppose there would be a reason to boost it up.

I play many different things. Atm Borderlands thanks to PS+.

I arent bothered if people add me. They can if they wish.

…and yes, fix the Store. :D

cheeseboy1981 21 January, 2013 @ 10:04 pm   20

cheeseboy1981

Add me if you want

IrishDude2 21 January, 2013 @ 10:19 pm   21

*checks friend list*
:( I have no friends

IrishDude2: Can I be your friend IrishDude2?
IrishDude2: No
IrishDude2: Why not?
IrishDude2: I don’t like you
IrishDude2: Please be my friend
IrishDude2: No

I got excited by the title, as per others above, I was hoping this was going to be an increase on the 100 limit.

Demoplay86 22 January, 2013 @ 3:41 am   23

@22
I had thought that also.

Any chance we’ll be able to break that 100 friend limit any time soon Chris Owen? I have been purposely not adding people out of fear of being limited.
Speaking of being limited. Any chance we’ll be able to add PSX/PS2 saves to cloud storage? I’ve put off playing them since there is no insurance (And I have had a slim since they came out). I make a point to say so as i’m not the only one who feels this way.
PSX only use 8 meg and PS2 16 so it’s not a tremendously big deal to add cloud support for mybe 5 memory cards for PSX and PS2 alike.

Kajax 11

u have to put u data of u card in some menu
= erase re input u data . if not work cal customer service in u contry
also investigate if u are abel to buy other stuf whith u card !

( i have no problem i am using prey pay cards = safer , after psn hack i wil sertenly not use bank cards )

For next gen, I’m hoping you can do something like have 50 friends for every game you own, and be able to show only friends that also play the game you’re playing online. This would be a really big help.

On Vita, I would like to see a change in when you select a friend, I’m often selecting the wrong one because the list is loading asynchronously and sorted at the same time, which isn’t a very good combination …

Ow, I was hoping for an increase on the cap of the friendlist…
I was already struggling before but since I have a vita it’s impossible to add all the people I want and I already have only people I know or were I talk to from time to time.

DarthUllo 22 January, 2013 @ 3:07 pm   27

Like many of the others, the big issue here is that the limit is 100 friends….
I had to delete way to many fellow gamers over the last 3 years…
so please make the limit to 200 friends at least..

sorry for my bad english but hope you get the massage….

Demoplay86 22 January, 2013 @ 3:16 pm   28

What would also be nice is not only an increase in the friend list capacity by also an increase in characters in the comment you can leave on your profile or ‘status’

Please consider it because it’s hard to get anything across when you cannot even have a sentence.

I’m also keen on exceeding the 100 maximum limit for friends on ps3/vita as you have to make a new friend request to people you’ve deleted, making them aware of the fact that you’ve deleted them in the first place:s 100 friends is not that much considering the 6 year lifespan of the ps3 :( Btw: I have one spot left, so if you’ve wan’t a partner for boosting trophies or just having fun in co-op like I do, add me on psn: morsmelk.
It’s all about the dlc’s for borderlands 2 at the moment, but I’m open to a lot of the other 100+ games on my trophy list :-)

So we all agree up the friends list to at least 150
