Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update but we’re really excited about the year ahead for PlayStation Plus as we strive to bring you great content and fantastic discounts on a range of games and services.
There are three new PS3 games and two for PS Vita in the line-up for February, as well as awesome titles such as Guardians of Middle Earth, Mortal Kombat and Jet Set Radio that are already available right now! So, without further ado…
New PlayStation 3 content
We’re very happy to announce that from 6th February for one month, you can download the awesome Sleeping Dogs.
This action adventure game from our friends at Square Enix takes you deep into the violent criminal underworld of vibrant, neon-lit Hong Kong. You’ll assume the role of Wie Shen, an undercover cop looking to take down the Triads from the inside. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organisation, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover.
Critics worldwide agree it’s a top-tier open-world action title – make sure you grab this while it’s available!
Your second addition to the Instant Game Collection is the extremely fun F1 Race Stars from Codemasters. The Plus service has been a little shooter-heavy over the last couple of months so in the interest of diversity why not kick back, relax, get some friends round and have a good time with this addictive multiplayer racer.
Your final PS3 addition this month is ingenious first person puzzler Quantum Conundrum, designed by Kim Swift – one of the creators of Valve’s classic brain-teaser Portal.
Quantum Conundrum sends you on a quest of inter-dimensional problem-solving to rescue your mad-scientist uncle, who’s gone missing somewhere in his labyrinthine mansion. The professor’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device (or ISD), should prove quite useful in navigating the obstacles in each room – such as death lasers and pools of skin-melting “science juice.” Gulp.
New PS Vita content
First up for PS Vita on 13th February is the oft-requested WipEout 2048. Reborn for PS Vita to take advantage of the system’s unique features and dazzling OLED screen you can race up to eight players simultaneously online and compete for first place on the global leaderboards.
Next up, on 20th February, is an incredibly addictive game from our friends at Ubisoft. Lumines: Electronic Symphony is the first PS Vita outing for this popular franchise, bringing together block-dropping puzzle action with an all-new 3D graphics engine and some of the biggest electronic music artists around.
As usual, over the coming weeks you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of other titles, including Just Cause 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Dust 514 Mercenary Pack and Alien Breed Trilogy. We’ll update you on these offers and more in the weekly Store posts. Also, Plus members will have access to an exclusive theme for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch from 30th January.
On top of all that, I’m very pleased to announce that as of 6th February we will once again be bringing you a fantastic discount on the 90 day membership for PlayStation Plus. For two whole weeks you’ll be able to get over 30% off the regular price – that’s €9.99/£7.99, reduced from €14.99/£11.99. A bargain, no?
In summary
Leaving the Plus Service in February:
6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio
20th February: Pinball Arcade
Entering the Plus Service in February:
6th February: Sleeping Dogs
6th February: Quantum Conundrum
6th February: F1 Race Stars
13th February: WipEout 2048
20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
Remember, if you’ve not got access to your PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store.

Downloading Quanttum Conundrum trial so I’ll be ready when it comes out.
For future games would love to see Gotham City Imposters and Payday The Heist for the UK or some of the Walking Dead series, US has had all of those.

Dammit, I accidentally signed up for 90 days membership after not reading the small print on a free offer, and I’ve already got Sleeping Dogs and Quantum Conundrum, which are the only 2 on the instant games I’d be interested in this month. Both of which are excellent though so if anyone hasn’t got them, download IMMEDIATELY when they become available
Might take advantage of the Alien Breed discount though, depending how much it is, been toying with the idea of getting it for a while now…

If you are taking suggestions, any of the HD Collections (Jak, Ratchet, GoW) for PS3 and Dungeon Hunter, Vita version, would be mine. As for Dead Island, dunno, the GOTY version includes all the extra content and seems to be quite cheap anyway.

I own 4 of the 5, please tell me that sleeping dogs DLC will be discounted as that would redeem the month for me.
As for the future, i would love
Unfinished Swan
Dead Island
Papo Y Yo
Also will Puyo Puyo PSP version ever be available digitally for Vita?

I’m very impressed, and I congratulate the PS Store Team for their work.
As a PS3/PS Vita and Xbox360 owner, I want to say that Sony in the deal/offer/discount department is light years ahead of Microsoft Deal of the Week.

Is there any chance of getting PSone/PS2 classics in the PS Plus line up at all???
Also, will there always be a minimum £5 top up on the store? Fed up of having to spend a fiver just to get certain DLC which is less than £1…
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
any chance of getting a co-op multiplayer in the future? You know something that you can just sit down with a friend for half and hour, along the lines of split-screen shooters or sports games.
Also any chance of Amalur being included in the plus soon?

Shame I’ve got a pile of work to get through, so any game I get for free is added to the backlog until April. Really looking forward to playing Sleeping Dogs and Lumines: Electronic Symphony.
Already got WipEout 2048, but there’s a good reason for that: it’s epic. Can’t wait to see more people playing multiplayer so I can complete the Online Campaign.

Forgive me for looking a gift horse in the mouth (best month ever…) but according to the (twelve-weekly) schedule originally laid out for the Instant Game Collection, Ratchet & Clank and Cubixx HD should have been replaced by F1 Race Stars and Quantum Conundrum on 30th January, not 6th February.
What gives?
Also, is it true that there are Plus subscribers in UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, who have *still* not been compensated for not receiving Red Dead Redemption or any alternative for September’s GOTM?

Amazing sellection of games.
Thanks I’m very happy with Plus!
The Dead Island sugestion is a good one, haven’t played it.
I heard it wasn’t as amazing as the trailer would like to think it would be.

@ Chris
Excellent, Excellent month
I had Sleeping Dogs but traded it towards something else due to the value & I was going to pick it up again soon. F1 Race Stars has me intrigued, as I like the Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing style games.
Quantum Conundrum is a bonus too!

I bought Dead island when you put the gotye in a sale a few months ago. I absolutely loved it and would love to see it added to plus so that the undecided people can give it a shot. I would love to see Binary Domain and Twisted Metal added.

My personal ratings:
Sleeping Dogs B+
Maybe B- if the german version should be (heavily) cut. But I’m already thankful that we get it at all.
Quantum Conundrum B
More Portals = good. Enough said.
F1 Race Stars D
I guess I should be thankful that we finally got some racing games, as those have been heavily underrepresented in Plus so far, as RPGs too.
But I’d expect an higher quality title for such genres, when they are so rarely covered.
WipEout 2048 A-
Perfect!
Lumines Electronic Symphony B-
Not really my kind of game, but obviously a great game for anyone interested.
Overall: Kudos Chris, great month.

almighty-slayer suggestions are good.
Ninja gaiden would be very welcome, I didn’t enjoy Dead Island, but you can’t please everyone, other people may want it.
Shinobido 2 would be great and there are plenty other games, New Little King’s Story, Army Corps of Hell and so on, at least on Vita.
On PS3 I don’t have any strong suggestions, maybe Tales Of Graces F or Darksiders II (you did give us the first one) or Syndicate, I don’t know if many people got Syndicate, but the multiplayer demo was pretty fun.
And for a hard challenge: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on both platforms for TRANSFARRING would be pretty sweet
But I imagine this is a very complicated deal to make…

Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 2:21 pm by Skykid360
Chris re Dead Island, i would rather not have it, reason being it was on a Massive Reduced price in the Sale recently, i imagine a lot of us (me included) would have got it then.
Sleeping Dogs is a nice title, i got it for Free with my PC’s Graphics Card. Also i have Wipeout (i would have thought everyone with a Vita would have already….hah but it is impossible to mind read and predict future Content for us – i picked mine up in the Holidays
)
Everything else i don’t have so i can’t complain too much!!

Or maybe at least some discounts ? i would also like max payne 3 or some worthwile rpg’s but these are just suggestions, anyways thanks for the content

Can we please have some concrete information on Ratchet and Clank FFA/Q Force for the vita, the PSN page for the PS3 version still says it’s coming out in January, and some sites are still reporting it to be released tomorrow so what’s going on?

Damn, I love you guys!!!
If you guys could get negotiate with square so we get Kingdom Hearts Birth by sleep (psp) and Final Fantasy Crisis Core on onto PSN that’ll mega. I don’t know why they would hesitate, I’m sure they’ve made a fortune on digital sales, especially with FFVII.
And for suggestions for future Plus content.
PS3: Folklore and Odyssey to the west (we still haven’t seen many adventure/fantasy games on Instant game collection)
PSVita: Resistance Burning skies and Marvel vs Capcom 3! Or… New Little King Story and Ragnarock Odyssey!

@QuietlyWrong #121
Chris answered on that topic last week, here: http://bit.ly/TLTcpT
I wish Chris would be more clear and direct about such changes. Especially during such an announcement of high quality content, he really could afford to be honest and make it official that the rotation mode changes.
On the german blog they asked related to this delayed release from 30.1 to 6.2 and received even more confusing replies, denying that anything would change at all.
Maybe Chris simply doesn’t know why people care about this at all. When Ross described why the US IGC got 2 titles more in its collection (because their titles remain there 3 months instead of 2), he explained that we’d get more games per year due the 4 week rotation. 52/4 = 13 > 12. So Chris, it seems as if you’d take away 2 games and try to be sneaky about it, which never can be the smartest approach.
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 3:40 pm by Chris Howe
we are not being sneaky or taking games away, Cubixx HD and Ratchet and Clank will both be there until the 6th Feb. It is simply the way that the schedule works.
Each hero title will either be in Plus for 4 or 5 weeks dependant on the amount of weeks in the month and each of the other titles will be in for either 11/12/13 weeks dependant on how we want the schedule to fit. As I said before ideally we want to drop content in on a more frequent basis so you have fresh stuff all the time but as I explained before we will not be moving to a rotation system

Any chance of getting ‘Kingdom of Amalur’
and something more child friedly as the kid are feeling a bit left out (they have played Ratchet & Clank to death).
Thanks
