Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update but we’re really excited about the year ahead for PlayStation Plus as we strive to bring you great content and fantastic discounts on a range of games and services.
There are three new PS3 games and two for PS Vita in the line-up for February, as well as awesome titles such as Guardians of Middle Earth, Mortal Kombat and Jet Set Radio that are already available right now! So, without further ado…
New PlayStation 3 content
We’re very happy to announce that from 6th February for one month, you can download the awesome Sleeping Dogs.
This action adventure game from our friends at Square Enix takes you deep into the violent criminal underworld of vibrant, neon-lit Hong Kong. You’ll assume the role of Wie Shen, an undercover cop looking to take down the Triads from the inside. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organisation, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover.
Critics worldwide agree it’s a top-tier open-world action title – make sure you grab this while it’s available!
Your second addition to the Instant Game Collection is the extremely fun F1 Race Stars from Codemasters. The Plus service has been a little shooter-heavy over the last couple of months so in the interest of diversity why not kick back, relax, get some friends round and have a good time with this addictive multiplayer racer.
Your final PS3 addition this month is ingenious first person puzzler Quantum Conundrum, designed by Kim Swift – one of the creators of Valve’s classic brain-teaser Portal.
Quantum Conundrum sends you on a quest of inter-dimensional problem-solving to rescue your mad-scientist uncle, who’s gone missing somewhere in his labyrinthine mansion. The professor’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device (or ISD), should prove quite useful in navigating the obstacles in each room – such as death lasers and pools of skin-melting “science juice.” Gulp.
New PS Vita content
First up for PS Vita on 13th February is the oft-requested WipEout 2048. Reborn for PS Vita to take advantage of the system’s unique features and dazzling OLED screen you can race up to eight players simultaneously online and compete for first place on the global leaderboards.
Next up, on 20th February, is an incredibly addictive game from our friends at Ubisoft. Lumines: Electronic Symphony is the first PS Vita outing for this popular franchise, bringing together block-dropping puzzle action with an all-new 3D graphics engine and some of the biggest electronic music artists around.
As usual, over the coming weeks you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of other titles, including Just Cause 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Dust 514 Mercenary Pack and Alien Breed Trilogy. We’ll update you on these offers and more in the weekly Store posts. Also, Plus members will have access to an exclusive theme for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch from 30th January.
On top of all that, I’m very pleased to announce that as of 6th February we will once again be bringing you a fantastic discount on the 90 day membership for PlayStation Plus. For two whole weeks you’ll be able to get over 30% off the regular price – that’s €9.99/£7.99, reduced from €14.99/£11.99. A bargain, no?
In summary
Leaving the Plus Service in February:
6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio
20th February: Pinball Arcade
Entering the Plus Service in February:
6th February: Sleeping Dogs
6th February: Quantum Conundrum
6th February: F1 Race Stars
13th February: WipEout 2048
20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
Remember, if you’ve not got access to your PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store.

Even though i already own Sleeping Dogs on PC i still think it’s a great addition to my PS3 titles. Too bad i just bought Little Big Karting mainly for my gf, the F1 racer game would be good too.
I do hope in the future people can choose between like two main title, two lesser titles and two indie games. That way there’s less chance of someone getting a game (s)he already owns. Even if u have to choose between a AA title like Sleeping Dogs and a lesser game.

Hi Chris,
As always, great content. Unfortunately, I already have Sleeping dogs. Will Deus ex be available again anytime soon? I missed it when it was available last time.
Also, is there a plan to include The darkness 2 anytime soon?
Thanks

Deus ex will not be in Plus anytime soon. It does currently have a Plus discount available on it though.
Never say never with The Darkness 2

What an awesome month
I love Sleeping Dogs! And Wipeout! God, this update is amazing.
I have a few suggestions for upcoming months:
PS3:
Dead Island-been waiting for this one
Resistance 3
Skyrim-I know this one must be hard to bring.
MGS Collection or God of War Collection.
PSVITA:
Rayman Origins
Motorstorm RC
Hope you can give us some of these
Thanks

Okay, I need to ask this: why the lineup of games for plaus is so different from EU to US? While Europe gets Mortal Kombat, Sleeping Dogs, F1 Race Stars(more recent games), US gets Foosball, Zombie Apocalypse, retro city rampage…..it’s kinda unfair, in my opinion.

Although we are one company our Plus services are run slightly differently thats all

personally i’d rather dead island was left off of plus, it wasn’t a bad game.., but not particularly memorable.
as many people have said, id really like to see an RPG game on plus, (maybe demon souls, as that’s on the store now? give us all a challenge
)
also very, VERY pleased with this months game selection, four of which I was already planning on getting, haven’t checked out lumines yet though so ill have to do that.

Any chance of getting Resistance Burning Skies as a Vita game for Plus? Would like to play the game but would prefer it from plus

@ Chris
I’m with Skykid360 with regards to Dead Island. The GOTY Edition was reduced massively recently & I would expect most members already own it.
I would like to see any of the following:
Lego Lord Of The Rings, Devil May Cry HD Collection, Ratchet & Clank HD Trilogy, Sly Trilogy (with 4 released this year), Okami HD, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Dead Or Alive 5, Rayman Origins, Dishonoured, SSX, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, God Of War HD Collections Volumes 1 & 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7, Payday: The Heist (Only to boost the online community, as I already own this), Skydrift, Catherine, Dirt 3 or Dirt Showdown, Discount on DOOM Classic Collection, Driver: San Francisco, Epic Mickey 2, Ratchet & Clank: Q-Force.
Just a few suggestions

Sony, you spoil us too much, but i dont mind being a spoiled brat lol.
QUESTION, are their going to be any psp/ps2 games on the instant gaming colletion for both vita and ps3 coming soon.
the psp/ps2 has a great back catalogue of awesome games that i never had the chance to play on my psp like god of war chains of olympus (played ghost of sparta on my vita, loved it)
would be great to have some of those games for vita and ps3.

Very excited for Feb’s PS+ content. Great work
look forward to playing all three PS3 games. Need to get a Vita when the memory isn’t so exorbitantly priced so I can enjoy my ever growing PS Vita games collection from PS+, just not when the memory costs £60 for 32GB which isn’t enough for the amount of games PS+ offers or to have a healthy portable collection for on the go at any one time. Keep the great games coming on PS+
!!!!!

Sooooo disappointed, so many other games they could’ve chosen….
I purchased Sleeping Dogs during the 12 deals of Christmas AND renewed my PS+ subscription at the beginning of Jan only for Sleeping Dogs to be made free

@Catkiller: What a few!
I wouldn’t mind seeing the MGS HD Collection someday. Planning on getting Revengeance but have never bought/played any of the Solid series, would help a lot in checking them.
Chris: In regards to avatars, seeing your earlier response: I believe that anything would serve as long as it’s a bit famous. You know, a bit of Assassin’s Creed, Devil May Cry, whatever avatars you might have from your very own first party titles too…

Wow, thanks for another stellar month! I’m actually looking at around a 3 month PS+ backlog when February comes ’round, but I’ve still got plenty of time to get through them. Sleeping Dogs is a game I’ve wanted since it’s release, but there’s just always been something else to play first; the F1 game looks nice and fun, perfect to play with my nephew (we’re currently playing R&C A4O), while Quantum Conundrum will be a pleasant change of pace from the other games I’ve played lately. I haven’t even had a chance to download any of this month’s content (except for Big Sky Infinity) yet, but bring on February!

Nice by the way, I thought for PS+ they would not sell a game with discount and then a month later give it away for free with PS+. So what is this:
Deal 5: Sleeping Dogs – Was £49.99/€59.99, now £15.99/€19.99 (67% off). Additional 10% discount for PS Plus members (£14.39/€17.99). Offer expires 11.59pm on 10th December
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/12/09/the-12-deals-of-christmas-5/
12 deals of Xmas, first selling it to some PS+ users and then giving it for free just a month later. Think those people aren’t so happy now…

Great great update, well done guys.
But could you please make sure the Vita firmware guys knows that we really need the following features in the Vita, specially with all these big games coming out from PS+
* Folder support on home screen, right now it gets very messy fast
* Don’t remove app icons when changing memory card!! Just like you don’t remove the icon for retail games, when switching retail game card. It messes up every form for custom sorting of apps/games, which is a huge problem, because these days you often have to switch between memory cards. If you start a game which is on another memory card, a simple “insert correct memory card” message will do and simple icons can’t take up much system memory.
* No 100 app limit, this is a strange limit
* Ask if you want to auto upload savegames to PS+ first time you start a game, just like on PS3.
–
Thanks, really hope these issues will be fixed fast, as they are really annoying problems.

Sleeping dogs for free? Count me in. Thanks for the good news Chris:)
Now, if you could arrange a deal on Demons Souls, it would be awesome. It is an older title and the servers wont be running forever… doesnt have to be in the instant game collection, but it would be nice to have at least a few percents off the price for the plus members. As I read through the comments I am not the only one with this request.
Thanks again:)

Great line up especially for the vita which is why I got ps+ at the start of the year.
Quick question, really gutted I missed out on Batman Arckham City and was wondering if games ever come back, for those that started the plus subs late? If so any chance/when would Batman be available?

Great month of Plus content, cheers guys. Here are a few suggestions of games I’d love to see on PS+:
Rayman Origins (PS3 or Vita)
Okami HD
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Binary Domain
Demon Souls
Dragons Dogma
Dead Island (GOTY)
Yakuza 4
The Walking Dead (Even a discount would be nice)
Lego Star Wars, Indiana Jones or Pirates of the Carribean
I would also like to see the Mass Effect trilogy DLC discounted as well if possible.

Its so sad that i buy games on the first day and they end up free. *Sigh*. I love the fact tht SD is free for everyone because its a brilliant game but then i have to wait a month for my next games because i have all. Except lumines which i shall try my plus runs out on the 2/03 which is a shame.

Got a few avatar suggestions for PS+
Since Deus Ex HR has been cropping up on PS+ quite a bit these past few months, why not get some more of them?
Another idea, what about having monthly avatars for the big game of the month, make them exclusive to PS+ for a month either free or 20 odd pence and after that let anyone buy it, should please everyone.
As far as game suggestions go, Killzone HD and Resistance BS would be fantastic. We’ve had action, fighting, adventure genres and now a racing game, hopefully next we get a FPS.
Anyway top quality stuff as usual, I love you all

Hi Chris great youre listening to suggestions
I agree about not putting Dead Island on but thats obviously biased as I already bought it when it had a nice Plus discount on it.
I will echo the wishes of Dragon’s Dogma and Mass Effect 1 though! PLEASE try and get some good RPGS/fantasy adventure types up!!
And don’t give up on Rayman Origins either, I believe in your wonderous magic

Since you started giving digital downloads of retail games, the only game a didn’t own already was Limbo. It’s sad but I will not resubscribe to PS Plus until you change it back. I want games exclusive to the PS Store not digital versions of games I can buy in retailers. Why can’t I have Okami HD or Killzone HD? X-Men Arcade or Resident Evil 4? Even a more obscure game no one knows can be a pleasant surprise compared to gigantic downloadable versions of games I already own in physical format. Give us the possibility to choose if we want retail games or PS Store-exclusive games. Please, consider that option.

2)Dark Souls/ Demon Souls / Skyrim / Dragon’s dogma (RPG!
3) Something from the LEGO series
4) Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

Here are my 2 cents regarding future updates, I would gladly welcome these in PS+ collection:
- Demon’s Souls (would be nice to have more RPG titles in general)
- Dead Island
- Okami HD
- Walking Dead season discount

I’m not sure how these things work or if it’s even possible but have you guys thought about getting a DD copy of GoW3 in the march IGC to drum up some hype for Ascension?
Oh and great update this month, I missed the 12 deals thing because I was travelling so I didn’t pull the trigger on SD, these last few months gave been great with sales+IGC.
