Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since the last update but we’re really excited about the year ahead for PlayStation Plus as we strive to bring you great content and fantastic discounts on a range of games and services.
There are three new PS3 games and two for PS Vita in the line-up for February, as well as awesome titles such as Guardians of Middle Earth, Mortal Kombat and Jet Set Radio that are already available right now! So, without further ado…
New PlayStation 3 content
We’re very happy to announce that from 6th February for one month, you can download the awesome Sleeping Dogs.
This action adventure game from our friends at Square Enix takes you deep into the violent criminal underworld of vibrant, neon-lit Hong Kong. You’ll assume the role of Wie Shen, an undercover cop looking to take down the Triads from the inside. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy as you fight your way up the organisation, taking part in brutal criminal activities without blowing your cover.
Critics worldwide agree it’s a top-tier open-world action title – make sure you grab this while it’s available!
Your second addition to the Instant Game Collection is the extremely fun F1 Race Stars from Codemasters. The Plus service has been a little shooter-heavy over the last couple of months so in the interest of diversity why not kick back, relax, get some friends round and have a good time with this addictive multiplayer racer.
Your final PS3 addition this month is ingenious first person puzzler Quantum Conundrum, designed by Kim Swift – one of the creators of Valve’s classic brain-teaser Portal.
Quantum Conundrum sends you on a quest of inter-dimensional problem-solving to rescue your mad-scientist uncle, who’s gone missing somewhere in his labyrinthine mansion. The professor’s latest invention, the Inter-Dimensional Shift Device (or ISD), should prove quite useful in navigating the obstacles in each room – such as death lasers and pools of skin-melting “science juice.” Gulp.
New PS Vita content
First up for PS Vita on 13th February is the oft-requested WipEout 2048. Reborn for PS Vita to take advantage of the system’s unique features and dazzling OLED screen you can race up to eight players simultaneously online and compete for first place on the global leaderboards.
Next up, on 20th February, is an incredibly addictive game from our friends at Ubisoft. Lumines: Electronic Symphony is the first PS Vita outing for this popular franchise, bringing together block-dropping puzzle action with an all-new 3D graphics engine and some of the biggest electronic music artists around.
As usual, over the coming weeks you can also expect exclusive PS Plus discounts on lots of other titles, including Just Cause 1 and 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Dust 514 Mercenary Pack and Alien Breed Trilogy. We’ll update you on these offers and more in the weekly Store posts. Also, Plus members will have access to an exclusive theme for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch from 30th January.
On top of all that, I’m very pleased to announce that as of 6th February we will once again be bringing you a fantastic discount on the 90 day membership for PlayStation Plus. For two whole weeks you’ll be able to get over 30% off the regular price – that’s €9.99/£7.99, reduced from €14.99/£11.99. A bargain, no?
In summary
Leaving the Plus Service in February:
6th February: BioShock 2
6th February: Ratchet and Clank All 4 One
6th February: Cubixx HD
13th February: Jet Set Radio
20th February: Pinball Arcade
Entering the Plus Service in February:
6th February: Sleeping Dogs
6th February: Quantum Conundrum
6th February: F1 Race Stars
13th February: WipEout 2048
20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony
If you are not currently a Plus member, visit our PlayStation Plus site to find out more about the service. Here you’ll learn all you need to know about the Instant Game Collection, which gives members access to at least 14 games at any one time and over 65 games across the course of a 12 month subscription – all for a one-off payment of just £39.99.
Remember, if you’ve not got access to your PS3 or PS Vita then you can also buy through our online store.

Sorry can I just clarify. Have you moved away from a four week rotation to a monthly one? If so then surely you are being underhanded as it was originally announced that although we were getting less games on plus in one go, over the year we should get more due to the shorter rotation policy.
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 4:24 pm by Chris Howe
Well there are four / five weeks in a month so it has always been the same. Our hero titles will never be in for less than four weeks which we have always done and our other titles will always be in for a minimum of 11 weeks but usually 12 weeks.
In my time here I don’t believe that we have had a game in for less than 12 weeks. We are still providing exactly the same amount of games so you have nothing to worry about

Just want to let SCEE know that thanks to PSPlus I will for sure be getting the next playstation day 1.
Plus is amazing and offers games that I would never normally play but now can’t wait for a sequels.
I have Deadspace and Bioshock on anther machine but I will be buying DS3 and Infinite on ps3 as it deserves our support more than the competing device.
Always been loyal to sony but this gen I got the other one first I wont make that mistake again SONY first all the way.
P.S. hold back with the great plus content or invent more hours in the day your choice. I can’t keep up!

hummmm I will go with option 2…more hours = more gaming

Great stuff.
However, I would like to see some more RPGs in the instant game collection. Dragon’s Dogma might be a bit far fetched, but I’ll throw that idea in there.

Could we have a good Jrpg in plus?

Hey Chris!
Again a very good list of games that will be added to PS+.
Maybe i’m asking a bit much, but i had some suggestions.
The games that are very appealing are:
Ssx (2012)
Dirt 3
Beyond good and evil HD
Deus ex human revolution ( i don’t know if these games are already featured).
Have a nice day!
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 4:27 pm by Chris Howe
A nice list, we thought about SSX but it was not possible at present.
Deus ex human revolution was in Plus back in July so we won’t be using it again. It does have a Plus discount on it at the moment though

Some ideas for you that arent actually games Chris.
Firstly, how about some sort of auto-discount on everything after a few months, I mean some games sit at £60 on release (despite already being <£25 in stores) and stay that high forever (despite the games being <£7 on disk o_O) , same with DLC sometimes it costs more than the disk itself.
Secondly, and its likely stupidly hard to do, but what about changing it so we get more options and therefore more variety, so for example have 6 games to choose from each month, with 12 at a time (so Janurary-Feb, Feb-March, March-April) and you get to choose 4 a month? just an idea.
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 4:28 pm by Chris Howe
the auto discounting idea is nice but we do not control pricing, secondly it’ s a good idea to have a little more choice like that but the way that we agree deals for Plus with publishers means that we need to provide specific dates when content will be used etc so it takes that option out of our hands

Great content next month! I loved Sleeping Dogs , had traded it in already – but I think with this nice freebie I am going to pick up the Zombie DLC that came out
Also did not play Wipeout and Lumines – so that is a welcome addition to my Vita’s library, too!
Thanks guys for this great update !

Hi.
Would it be possible to get PS+ on my 360 as my PS3 is now brimmed. Mr Gates seems to be getting more and more charitable nowadays so I’m sure it won’t be a problem.
I’ve got about 15gb left, reckon I can last till April, so, y’know, no rush…

I actually second the decision for Dead Island. How about some more (non shooter) games like Saint Row the Third or Portal 2

CubixxHD was a fun little game. Sleeping Dogs sounds interesting. I’m not sure whether I have time to play it, though (haven’t finished any PS Plus game yet). Well, at least I will try the Ni No Kuni theme.

Had to sign in to comment on this one WOW on 2 occasions.
1st WOW – the games, thanks for the awesome games this month, was thinking about buying wipeout but decided against it because of Jet Set Radio being the main game for vita last month, was expecting a big title this month and i wasn’t wrong, then you throw Luminies into the mix as well, another game i was planning on purchasing.
as for the PS3 titles, AWESOME was looking into sleeping dogs but couldn’t justify the prices for it for a game that i may or may not like, and F1 race stars, i gave the demo a go, didn’t fall in love with it, but i thought that could just be the demo not giving a massive scope in the gameplay. so thank you for those
2nd WOW, this is the first blog post where i’ve seen no complaints about whats in plus this month. that is a big WOW there’s normally a few.

hi Chris …this is the 2nd time the german store get a (replacement) within a day ..happy for them but what about saudi store ?? how long have we been waiting and all we been getting is false words time after time ?? SEP GOTM …..
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 5:02 pm by Chris Howe
They are not getting a replacement they are just getting the same game as everyone else.
We are trying to arrange some sort of compensation for those users who did not get a game at all in September

The content seems good but i’m a little puzzled. I’m sure i read a while ago that items that receive a Plus discount wouldn’t be available on the IGC for quite some time. I’m a little bit annoyed that having been enticed by a plus discount on Sleeping Dogs during the Xmas sale it is now available free 1 month later.
It’s also a little annoying to see items that are added to the IGC receive a plus discount not long after. I appreciate that new plus members may want to take up the offer but it’s like the same content doing the rounds over and over. How long before you start to recycle the freebies? Can’t complain overall as the service is worth the money in the long run but this sort of thing needs to stop in my opinion.
Finally, when is the 1st anniversary of the IGC as i’m wondering when Motorstorm,LBP2 and Infamous 2 will be replaced.
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 5:05 pm by Chris Howe
We can never promise not to use something that has been on sale, we try to avoid it but we put a lot of items on sale throughout the year so eventually you will see something cross.
This is why we always say we try not to but it’s not always possible.
Motorstorm, LBP2 and inFamous 2 are likely to be replaced in the summer

Gotta say amazing line-up for next’s month Plus and no sign of FPS for once which is great. Hate to say but I already got Sleeping Dogs in my collection but trust me, worth your time and amazing game in my opinion. F1 Race Stars, loved F1 games but this one mashes F1 and Mario Kart together so that’s a another to look forward to play from the good ol guys at Codies.
Also, great to see WipEout 2048 being part of IGC. Awesome games for next month’s Chris.

Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 4:41 pm by adumr82
Chris, it may have been before your time but if that is the case then you are not providing the amount of games originally stated. It was clearly stated here on the blog that we would get more than the USA because we were rotating games quicker. If you look back at the comments I was skeptical at the time you would follow through with the promise but we were assured so I thought I would wait and see. I really think you should look back at this as to me it seems like just another SCEE lie and its probably time you just admitted to things like this. Please look into this and let us know because its a very wrong thing to do to loyal customers

Nice content, I am satisfied
Sleeping Dogs looks nice and it’s one of those games I never got around to playing.
I never picked up Lumines, so that’s another nice Plus game.
I already have WipEout 2048 on card, but having it digitally can be a nice convenience when playing other cards.
Killing Studio Liverpool is the dumbest move ever made by Sony. Next-gen WipEout is probably the only title that could have sold me a PS4 when it launches. Now I’ll just wait until a price drop. WipEout is a total must-have and Sony killed the creators along with the last magic of Psygnosis. Shame on you Sony!

So, can we have a 64GB/128GB memory card for Vita now please? Otherwise PSN+ is going to become pretty useless on my Vita after next month as I will have no space left. Its bad enough I had to import the memory card from the US to get THIS big (32GB).
Having to move content from PS3/PC to Vita all the time goes completely against the whole point of a portable console with digital downloads, having your whole game collection in your pocket at all times.

Thank you very much Sony and Square Enix for giving great games.
Can you please give Red Dead Redemption (September Game of the Month) for Saudi Arabian PlayStation Plus users as you are going to give Sleeping Dogs for Germany, please? T_T
Please we beg you. T_T
If you can’t, just say it and don’t get our hopes up (I think last time you said you are discussing it.) T_T

Great month, although I feel a bit stupid for buying Sleeping Dogs during the Christmas sale and I still haven’t touched it, due to my huge backlog.
I think I’ll stop buying games and just wait till they come available on Plus.
Games which should be on Plus: Dokuro, Dyad, The Cave, Walking Dead Season Pass, Closure (if it ever comes to Europe, that is), Catherine, Rayman Origins (Vita), DMC, Ni no Kuni,…
Keep up the good work!

hi.
i have a question… could a “season pass” be included in the IGC?
example: max payne 3 has a season pass. you offer the season pass free and a sale discount on the game… would boost game sales here (PS Store) and in retail… think about it.

Playstation Plus NEVER disappoint me at all.
Sleeping Dog free? F1 Race Stars free? Quantum Conundrum free? Nice, very nice.
It would set me up for while till Dead Space 3 is released!

Chris, given that things stay ridiculously high for so long really its worth having a complete shuffle and getting more power for the store team? I mean given that internet speeds are still pretty meh the majority of people would still rather buy from stores, so unless it moves with it and a bit less then its not going to overtake it anytime soon. And as for if the PS4 is diskdriveless or wont play second hand games? can see it dying out compared to the Steam Box, assuming prices will be as good as people say they are on the PC
.
Secondly, is it really that hard to say that a game will be available for a second month to the devs?
Thridly I am not fond of the Deus Ex potential back on PS+ as a freebie suggestion a few pages back, it already pops up frequently for discounts, no repeats =/.
Fourthly you seem to be asking for game suggestions, for now FarCry 3 sticks out, as does Heavy Rain? (no idea if the controls were ever made less, bad the demo was just bleh) , possibly Dragons Dogma and Binary Domain.

Hi Chris,
Any chance of Retro City Rampage coming to PS Plus on Vita anytime soon?
I was waiting for ages to pick this up on PSN but then I couldn’t wait and bought it on PC over Christmas! If only I’d waited a few weeks more!
It would be really cool if that came to Plus.
Also I saw you said that SSX won’t be coming to Plus soon, but could you keep trying as that would be a great addition.
Great selection for February even though I already have all but one of the games.
Posted on 28 January, 2013 at 5:08 pm by Chris Howe

will keep trying for SSX

In your answer to post 78, you wrote that as long as are a member you own the game. Does that apply to games that are removed from the Plus list as well?

Only if you have downloaded them when they are available within the Plus service. You can’t download items for free that are no longer in the Plus content list

Did not think much of sleeping dogs before and traded it in but will give it another try hope max Payne 3 comes to plus.

This is the best plus update in my long time membership, yet i’m gutted. I bought sleeping dogs in the december sale and can’t fathom why sony would put it in a sale, let loyal plus customers pay for it and then give it away for free a month later for those very same people and think they will be content. I was so tempted to buy F1 all stars as well, but boy am i glad i didn’t! I’m not really upset because it was my own choice to buy it, but sony should realize that the only thing they have accomplished with this on my end is that i will NOT buy psn games on sale anymore and i’m sure more people feel the same. You’re losing money this way sony!!
Anyway, like i said…best update ever. On the first page you asked for feedback on Dead Island, i think that’d be awesome!!
